Tricks and Treats

Students gathered their bags and darted out of the classroom meanwhile y/n slowly packed up not up for the rush. "Hey y/n" Ryujin appeared next to y/n's desk. "Do you want to go to the haunted house with me tomorrow?" Y/n spaced out for a moment questioning the situation. 'Should I tell Ryujin about my sensory issues? Maybe she already knows from when I wore my headphones in class?'

"um sure! Yeah I'll go" y/n agreed not wanting to let Ryujin down.

"okay great I'll text you when I'm on my way to pick you up. Be ready by 6 alright?" Ryujin waved and smiled once more before walking out of the classroom leaving y/n alone with her thoughts.

Within the blink of an eye y/n waited behind the entrance door of her house for Ryujin to pick her up. She was so nervous that she felt sick to her stomach about how their night was about to turn out. The constant fear of y/n ruining Ryujin's night ran through her brain almost wanting y/n to bail.

Ryujin soon pulled up in the driveway and before she could step out of her car y/n just dashed out the front door earning a whiskered smile from Ryujin. "Someone's eager" Ryujin laughed getting back into the car.

"what type of music do you like?" Ryujin asked you as she picked up her phone.

Y/n froze suddenly forgetting her own name, "um...um anything just not country music."

"gotcha" Ryujin placed the playlist on shuffle and then backed out of the driveway. "Have you ever been to a haunted house?" She asked making small talk during the semi-silent drive.

"nope, I prefer staying home and watching Halloween movies, maybe pass out candy a few times a year, but eh." Y/n answered shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly.

"well I hope you have fun today" Ryujin cheered. They finished the rest of the drive eventually ending up in a parking lot filled with cars and teenagers of all ages piling into the double doors that stood ahead of them.

"I already bought tickets in advanced for us so we can just walk in" she squealed. She couldn't hold in her excitement walking swiftly to the doors while y/n slowly dragged her feet.

Y/n read the sign ahead of her:

Spring County Haunted Mansion

They grabbed their prepaid tickets and a glow stick before skimming over the rules that consisted: of no running, no punching or any physical violence of the staff or props, and any lost devices will be at the lost and found. Have fun!

Y/n took Ryujin's hand out of instinct as they started their wall inside the mansion. As they walked into a dark room someone popped out of the room and scared both girls. Ryujin started laughing while y/n's heart was throbbing out of her chest. They then walked into a room with flashing lights causing y/n to start getting overwhelmed by the visuals.

She closed her eyes feeling for Ryujin's coat sleeve hoping she would direct her, but just as she went to grab onto Ryujin someone popped out with a high pitched scream causing y/n to drop to the floor bawling.

She covered her ears and tightly closed her eyes not wanting to open them. "Y/n hey! Hey y/n it's okay. We are leaving you're okay" Ryujin kneeled down to y/n. She was that the girl wasn't budging so she scooped her up and walked out the nearest emergency exit.

They both sat in the warmed up car with Ryujin staring at y/n with concern while y/n stared at her fingers. "are you okay? I'm sorry"

"yeah I didn't know it'd be that bad. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner about my sensory issues. I thought I could handle it" y/n sighed feeling bad.

"no it's not your fault. But I'm going to name it up to you. Wanna go to my house and watch Halloween movies in our theater?" Ryujin asked her eyes lighting up at the idea.

"ooo sure!" Y/n agreed as she clapped her hands, "yay Halloween movies!"
