Project Research- Witch Creek Road

Witch Creek Road is a Horror Webtoon Original written by Garth the Geek and illustrated by Kenan Halilovic. It ran for four seasons and ended on December 4th, 2021.

The story is quite complex and phylosophocal, definetley a lot different than one would be lead to belive upon reading the first episode. It starts if as a rather typical high school slasher story then develops into something much more. I highly recommend giving this series a read.

What I easily love bedt about this comic is the stunning artstyle that it has. Illustrated by Kenan Halilovic, he elivates the story so much with his use of composition and colour.

I adore the blue hues and shading that can be seen in almost every pannel. I also love how his artstlyle has a graphic, almost classic comic style with a modern twist. The thick lines, dramatic posing and composition, it cerainley reads like a classic batman comic in some bits.

Given how blue is used throughout each pannel and illustration, it makes things such as red blood stand out beautifully in contrast. I love how Kenan Halilovic uses colour theory.

I think this anon is a bit of an optimist if they think that every player that is a part of La Masia has an easy path to first team football. As you mentioned, a lot of La Masia players have to leave their homes at a young age and compete amongst boys that they call their friends and have grown up with. You used the example of Gavi, but there are also international players who move from entirely different countries to join La Masia. Not to mention that not every player succeeds at Barça. For every player who has succeeded to the first team, how many are there that haven’t succeeded at Barcelona? Isaac Cuenca, Andreu Fontas, Jean Marie Dongou, Edgar le, Wilfrid Kaptoum, Sergi Samper, Carles Alena, Alen Halilovic, Lee Seung-woo, Munir El Haddadi, Giovani Dos Santos, Sandro Ramirez, Oriol Romeu, Oriol Riera, Alberto Botia, Xavi Torres, Cristian Lobato, Victor Vazquez, Marc Muniesa, Marc Crosas, Jeffren Suarez and Gai Assulin. Do you know what all those players have in common? They’re all former La Masia players who were deemed not good enough for Barcelona. So the whole narrative of ‘academy players beating the odds’ isn’t a narrative, it’s the truth. Not every player that gets to La Masia is guaranteed success, all of the players I mentioned have had largely underwhelming careers despite having initially started with Barça. As for Fermín, he didn’t ’just go on loan for a year.’ He left on loan because there wasnt room for him on the reserve team, if it weren’t for Xavi giving him a chance with the first team then he probably would have been offloaded. That IS beating the odds, from playing in the third division and being a background player for La Masia to a standout player for the first team and making his international debut with Spain. Maybe the reason that anon is under that impression is because people talk about the players who succeed to the first team, not the ones who fail.

Being from Lamasia doesn't guarantee you a place in the first team or success once you manage to breakthrough. They still have to work hard and the success rate isn't that high.

*Sinan Erdem Spor Salonu'nda saat 20:00'de başlayacak olan Basketbol Şampiyonlar Ligi Son 16 Turu J Grubu beşinci maçı. Evimizdeki Almanya virajı devam ediyor. Geçen hafta son şampiyon Bonn önünde çok hayati bir zafer elde etmiştik. Bu kez de Ludwigsburg karşısında umudumuzu korumak istiyoruz. Artık her maç bize tamam ya da devam maçı. İlk engeli atlamayı başarmıştık. Bugün de galibiyet gelsin ve umudumuzu son haftaya taşıyalım inşallah. Yürek dolusu başarılar Aslanlar'a.

*Tivibu Spor 1'den naklen yayınlanacak olan maç.

*İlk çeyrekte 28-18'lik üstünlük kurduk. Müthiş coşkulu başladık. Ardından Ludwigsburg cevap verip geri döndü ama Alman ekibi 18-17 öndeyken bizden 11 sayılık seri geldi ve çeyreği öyle bitirdik. Akıllar hemen 20 sayılık ilk maç farkına gidiyor. Yarıladık belki ama bakalım.

*Devreyi 54-42 üstün kapattık. Kontrolü elde tuttuk. Ludwigsburg'un yaklaştığı anlar vardı. Biz de bir ara 16'ya çıkardık farkı. Takımımız ikili averajı almak için oynuyor. Bu tonda sürdürürsek neden olmasın.

*Üçüncü periyot sonucu 78-65 lehimize bitti. Yine yakın geçen bir oyun vardı ama skor avantajı elimizde. Hakimiyeti kurduk ama 20'ye yaklaşamadık bu sefer.

*93-91 galip geldiğimiz maç. Alman ekibinden son dilimde 26-15'lik performans gelince maalesef zaferin tadını çok alamadık. 2. galibiyetimiz geldi ama maalesef ikili averaj onların lehine. Grubun diğer maçında Bonn, Dijon'u yenerse şansımız kalmayacak ne yazık ki. Yine de bugünkü mücadele ve galibiyet için çok ama çok teşekkürler. Galatasaray Ekmas'ta Sadık Emir Kabaca 15, Dee Bost 14 sayı üretti. Miralem Halilovic 13 sayı - 11 ribaund ile ikili çifte yaptı. MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg'da ise Jayvon Graves 26, Jaren Lewis 13 sayı ile oynadı.

İlave: Günün ilerleyen saatlerinde tamamlanan maçta Bonn, Dijon karşısında 89-74 kazandı ve maalesef son maçlar öncesinde gruptan çıkma şansımızı yitirdik. Belki koç değişimi daha erken yapılsaydı diye düşünüyoruz ama faydası yok artık. Bu sezonki serüven için teşekkürler Galatasaray Ekmas'a.

Die Stärken

Offensiv gaben sich die Villacher in der letzten Spielzeit keine Blöße – im Schnitt 8,2 Tore pro Spiel waren Ligabestwert. Dabei trafen 5 Spieler zweistellig – Senad Huseinbasic, Samir Nuhanovic, Ivan Krnjic, Dino Matoruga und Enis Musanovic schossen gemeinsam 76 Tore. Vor allem zuhause ließ man es ordentlich krachen – Mit 10 Toren pro Spiel verwöhnte man das Kärntner Publikum, was sich auch in ordentlichen Zuseherzahlen niederschlug. Überhaupt spielt man bereits seit zwei Saisonen mehr als bundesliga-tauglich – nur die Übermacht von Ljuti Krajisnici und Inter Klessheim verhinderten bislang knapp den Aufstieg.

Die Schwächen

Auswärts zeigte das Team in entscheidenden Phasen Nerven – und kassierte meist ordentliche Klatschen. In der Vorsaison unterlag der Landespolizeisportverein in Linz und Salzburg jeweils klar mit 10 Toren Unterschied, in dieser Spielzeit musste man sich den Salzburgern abermals mit einem klaren 1:6 geschlagen geben. Was deutlich wird: das Team fällt vor allem in der zweiten Hälfte eindeutig ab. Staffelübergreifend belegt man in dieser Kategorie nur Rang 6.

Spieler im Fokus

Mit der Verpflichtung von Senad Huseinbasic gelang dem LPSV Kärnten in der Vorsaison ein Goldgriff. Der von Meister Allstars Wiener Neustadt verpflichtete Goalgetter schoss sich letzte Saison richtig ein – in 12 Ligaspielen gelangen ihm sagenhafte 26 Treffer. In bislang 18 Zweitligaspielen ging er bislang nur vier mal leer aus – nur eines dieser Matches konnte schlussendlich gewonnen werden. Trifft Huseinbasic, ging der LPSV-K stets als Sieger vom Parkett.

Insiderwissen

Der LPSV Kärnten ist das Urgestein der 2. Bundesliga. 2023/24 geht man bereits in seine neunte Saison. In bislang 94 Partien gewannen die Villacher 45 mal, bei 7 Unentschieden und 42 Niederlagen und einem Torverhältnis von 546 zu 505. Da verwundert es nicht, dass auch der Rekordspieler der 2. Liga ein Villacher ist. Der jetzige sportliche Leiter Stephan Brozek schnürte in 49 Partien die Schuhe für den LPSV Kärnten, dabei gelangen ihm 10 Treffer. Der Villacher Polizist begann seine Futsal-Karriere bei Stella Rossa und spielte überdies auch für den Polizei SV Wien und sogar zwei malfür Bundesligist Futsal Klagenfurt – so kommt er auf insgesamt 64 2. Ligaspiele und 11 Tore.

Fazit

Aller guten Dinge sind drei: Nach den knapp verpassten Aufstiegen 2021/22 und 2022/23 kann das Ziel nur der Meistertitel sein. Der kaum veränderte Kader des Vorjahresmeisters steht für höchste Zweitligaqualität – mit der Verpflichtung von Keeper Alan Halilovic ist ein weiterer Coup gelungen. Mit Nuhanovic, Huseinbasic und Halilovic stehen nunmehr drei Spieler im Kader, die bereits mit den Allstars den Meistertitel in der ersten Bundesliga feiern durften. Kann das Team diese Saison auch in den entscheidenden Auswärtspartien ihre Leistung aufrufen, wird das neunte Jahr auch das zunächst letzte in Liga 2 sein.

Before anyone (probably @loadsofcats <3 <3 <3) asks, I saw several suggestions for Balor when searching for aesthetics on VK.

The one I saw pretty early on is Miles McMillan, american male model... You know, it's pretty obvious why. Even his stature is very Balor-like!
