#halflings are nomadic because sitting in one place for too long is a great way to get everyone eaten by centaurs

Halflings (humans), chickens, turkeys, horses, sheep, dogs, ‘wolves’, and ‘coyotes’ are not native to the planet Aran.
While the full story and the technology that made it possible are long lost to the modern humans living on Aran in a few of their myths reference them having been originally made on an island without monsters and gained the secrets of the sun to build a ship to take them on a long journey to a place of plenty to escape from *something* that made the homeland of their ancestors too dangerous to stay.
A different version of the story involves a band of adventurers choosing to leave their homeland to bring back riches and new stories back to their people.
Another different version of the story is about a band that got lost during a storm and ended up in a land full of monsters and having to be very clever and flexible to survive.
Centaurs don’t really have any stories about halflings ‘arriving’ from anywhere. Tho there are very very old half forgotten stories of halfling cities made of metal and stone, halfling cities really only show up in stories nowadays if the storyteller is trying to make the story intentionally surreal or silly.
The surviving Earth critters on Aran are all pretty much nativized. Each one has a number of native parasites that specialize in them and predators that keep their populations under control. There were more creatures that the ancient spacefaring humans brought with them but they were all eaten to extinction be native predators, like centaurs.
In halfling stories there’s a mythical creature called a Cat. It is similar to a tiny spinx but without wings and has the face of a dog with a short muzzle and a tail like a furry snake. In stories the Cat protects homes from vermin and is very sneaky and smart.
As far and centaurs are concerned, chickens and turkeys were gifts from the male moon. Centaurs love their poultry and chickens and turkeys can be eaten immediately after slaughter making them popular for festival foods.
