Kouen

Kouen will treat his s/o with absolute respect. This is no different for kisses. Consent and comfort are absolute priorities for Kouen when it comes to you.

His kisses are soft and gentle, as if he is worried that you will break if he applies too much force. He wants you to feel like you're the most valuable treasure in the world, because to him, you are.

His favourite place to kiss you is your lips. It’s traditional, but that's just how Kouen is.

Kouen will always be sure to pull you close to him as he kisses you, or to at least have a hand on your cheek.

Asking if he can kiss you will be a common occurrence, certainly early in a relationship. As he becomes more aware of your boundaries, this will become less and less frequent, but if he has any doubt, he will still ask.

He prefers to kiss you in privacy. PDA is not his thing, and he believes that nobody needs to see how he treats you. That side of his is only for your eyes to see. The only exception to this would be if only his siblings are around, since they know how he is already.

Koumei

Kisses with Koumei are lazy yet full of love. He'll kiss you on your cheek very casually, at pretty much any occasion that presents itself. Waking up, seeing you after work, you bringing him something or doing something for him,… whenever he gets the chance, he will place his lips on your cheek to express his love, no matter who is around.

Kisses on the lips are absolutely kept to private moments. These are the moments he wants to cherish and take his time for, no matter how tired he is.

His kisses are soft like a feather and are over in the blink of an eye, leaving you wanting more. No matter how well he can mask his emotions, one look in his eyes will tell you that he's teasing you, daring you to steal a kiss from his lips if that's what you want.

Kissing him when he doesn't expect it though, will absolutely make him lose his composure. It doesn't matter if the kiss is long or short, his heart will skip a beat and he will briefly lose track of whatever he was doing, a red blush easily visible on his cheeks.

Kouha

Kouha's kisses are rough yet loving. It's no secret that Kouha shows his love in not-so-gentle ways and you are no exception to this.

He kisses you at any given time he feels like. You look good today? You accomplished something? You did something for him? You smiled and he was suddenly reminded of how much he loves your smile? Anything is a good reason to kiss you, no matter where you are.

He encourages you to do the same. Unexpected kisses will have him smiling like a madman, madly in love with you. He will eagerly pull you closer, prolonging the kiss as much as he can.

Though your lips are his favourite place to kiss, when he's feeling like teasing you, he'll leave a feather-light kiss on your neck when you least expect it. He'll then walk away with an innocent expression, which turns into a smug grin as soon as he is out of sight. He knows exactly what effect his kisses have on you, and he loves it. He loves making you feel loved, and making you fall in love with him even more.

Whenever he has to leave for a longer period of time, he will place an uncharacteristically soft kiss on your lips before smiling at you and walking away.

Hakuryuu

Hakuryuu's kisses are clumsy, the kisses of a young man trying to figure out for himself just what love is, and how he should express the feelings he has for you.

Kisses on your hands are common occurrence and it's the only kiss he'll give you when people are around. It's his way of expression his devotion to you, of showing you that no matter his station, he sees you as a precious person on equal standing with him.

Kisses on the lips are a little forceful, a result of his eagerness and insecurity. He'll hold you close to him in a tight grip, as if he's worried you'll disappear if he doesn't.

Sometimes, he'll get the urge to kiss you even though he's in public, like when you're just looking perfect, or when jealousy or other negative emotions overwhelm him. He'll drag you behind a corner and kiss you there. You are like his lifeline, grounding him when he's about to go off to some place of mind where he shouldn't be.

During any kiss he gives you, Hakuryuu will close his eyes, focusing on the sensation of his lips on you instead of on other things.

Kougyoku

Kougyoku's kisses are quick and hesitant, like a child knowing that they shouldn't do something, but quickly and sneakily doing it anyway. She'll kiss you in the moments people are not around or looking away, leaning in quickly and pulling back just as quick.

It doesn't matter if you're in public or private, any kiss will make Kougyoku a little flustered. Kisses make her feel loved, and she wants you to feel loved as well. Because of this, she'll look for opportunities to kiss you whenever she can.

Her favourite place to kiss is your cheek, landing a quick peck before pulling back with a small grin and refocusing on whatever she was doing, checking from the corners of her eyes if you're doing whatever you're doing with a smile or not.

The only kiss that won't be as fleeting as the others are kisses to your forehead, which she insists on giving you every night before you go to sleep. A kiss on the forehead plants the seed for a good dream, and she wants nothing but good things for you.

Hakuei

Hakuei's kisses are playful and loving and leave a mark behind, as if her lips are still on yours even when she has already pulled away. She knows just how much pressure to apply, and just what to do to take your breath away. After a kiss on the lips, she will rest her forehead against yours and keep eye contact for a while.

Her favourite place to kiss is your shoulder blades. She'll sneak up behind you, wrap her arms around your waist and place soft kisses on your shoulder blades, maybe finishing it with one on your neck. She hopes it conveys just how much she loves and adores you.

Kisses on your cheek and hands may happen at any time, but all other kisses are kept to private moments. The private kisses are more passionate, meant to make you feel loved, where the public kisses are more playful, meant to make you smile.

Hakuei keeps eye contact with you during kisses whenever possible, wanting to see your reactions in your eyes, hoping that her feelings were conveyed properly to you.

Judar never really minded the fact that he couldn't use healing spells

In his words "why would someone as strong as me need healing spells pft-"

But oh God was he eating up his words right about now

He knew this he knew he couldn't help with healing spells- he's known this for a long time but- why is it only now that he regrets not trying harder?

He's trying, he's trying so hard to heal you the look of defeat on his face is not a sight you see often sighing, you moved over to judar a little "judar..calm down, we can't go back yet. Just- give me my bag I have some first aid in it.."

Without saying a word he grabs your bag and hands you what he thinks is the first aid kit that you're talking about you take out some things that you're gonna use to clean your wound but soon you run into trouble- see your wound is on your back and as you shift to try to clean it a sharp jolt of pain hits

You let out a small groan but continued as there wasn't anything else you could do but perceiver

Judar watched as sweat drilled from your head as you tried to shift your position to see the tear God..he couldn't handle looking at you like this but he was clueless as to what he should do...

"Just...just- give me that" it surprised you a bit when Judar snatched the cloth from your hand "come here.." he gently? lowered your head to lay on his lap so you were laying on your stomach

Judar has been given punishments for acting out by al thamen plenty of times so he's watched as servants cleaned his wounds before so he's trying with all his might to replicate that

"Just..just tell me if it hurts..or- if I'm doing something wrong.." this was very unlike your judar in every scenario you had imagined him laughing at your injuries but treating them and reassuring you- oh wow

"..maybe I should get injured more often so I can see this side of you eh?-" in response, he didn't say anything but instead pressed a little too hard on your wound which was followed by an array of apologies from you

This- this felt nice contrary to the aching wound on your back, being gently touched by judar as he tried his best to softly clean your wound and apply some medicine was somehow almost soothing

"Thanks..judar " "mh"

hakuryuu

He's more worried about your wound than you- he looks like he's gonna cry-

You spoke too soon he did start crying and like a baby at that

It almost seemed like he was the hurt one

You end up comforting him...

He's crying almost sobbing "hey, haku...dont cry my dear its fine " he's just a mumbling crying whining mess "b-but...you, I, h-...how?" he's just a little crying mess in a puddle of his own tears

You hug him close ignoring any pain from the wound but when he tries hugging you back you let out a slight groan and he realizes what an idiot he's being, I mean your the ones who's hurt what the hell is he doing right now!!

He starts to stop crying still sniffling but it's better than before "c-...come here" he gently helps you lay down as he grabs bandages from his bag

"i-if you feel, any discomfort...tell me, okay?" his voice is small and you hear a small gasp when he gets a good view of your injury "y/n..." he whispers under his breath not sure how he could comfort you...

You can feel his hands shake as he cleans your wounds the little trembles of his body as worry overcomes him "don't worry my dear haku..."

"how...how could I not" you can hear his voice breaking as he quietly sobs once more

Sinbad

He's worried so so worried

The second he hears that your injured he rushes to your side and hold your hand

He's also mad, not at you but himself he should've been there to protect you!

"y/n...how did this...what happend...i-" it seems that for once even so bad is at a loss for words

He brings the best doctors in the nation no the world to come treat you, he holds your hand as they treat you his heart stops everytime your grip gets tighter indicating that your hurting "i-its gonna be...fine, fine...dont worry" it seems the reassure me is meant for himself more then it is for you

After the doctors leave he traces the area around your wound careful not to touch it...sinbad isn't the most caring person in the world and you've never seen him look so...afraid

"y/n...please next time tell me if your hurt, if you need help. Please " it's almost as if he's begging you more then asking

His voice breaks at the end of his sentence as you look at him and nod...you might not do what he says but at least you reassure him

[Magi reread] Night 76: Smile

It's been a while, lmao. I did some fandom jumping, was pretty busy, too, but this chapter was dragging behind me, like, come on, last chapter of the arc! Part of the reason I'm back here is bc I'm kinda getting to the part in this Final Arc rewrite where it'd be fucking nice to have some background info on a few characters. I mean, I know stuff in theory, but I also know myself enough to expect random changes during the actual writing process & it'd be a fucking pain if I wrote one version of events in flashbacks, and then went somewhere else in the actual prequel.

ANYWAY, chapter.

Bro, I love some of the final chapters of the arcs titles, especially Smile and Welcome Home (Magnostadt Arc), like, they just stayed in my brain. Why must you hurt me this way, Ohtaka.

I don't recall posting covers of chaptera too often, but this one is just so fucking sweet, man. And sad. It just... really does it for me, y'know? Smiling after everything that's just happened, but also it feels like a promise, especially after Cassim just fucking died like that (I will never recover) - now the three of them are a family. ;;

On a semi-related note, it's kind of what makes it difficult for me to ship any of them with each other. Even excluding Aladdin's age (not that Ohtaka has issues with such things, and boy will you hear it from me, but that's for later), I mentally familyzoned them. Interestingly, I'm more flexible with Cassim and Alibaba, though over time I also grew to prefer to view them as siblings. Like, I had a few CassAli AUs in the past, but I think I also wrote too much of Alibaba perceiving Cassim as his brother to come up with new ones. Now it'd just feel weird.

I'm still waiting for Silk for Steel update, tho.

Also, shoutout to me bc I thought: it's been a while, I'll check quick what I wrote about the previous chapter to kinda regain some context (yes, only now), and, yep, tears in my eyes. It happesn every time.

On a different note, I kinda chuckled, seeing that they refer to Alibaba as Aladdin's immature candidate to be the king, I mean, immature, and yet him and Aladdin managed to change the Flow. Imagine what they can do once they do mature? <3

Can I please get some details, Ohtaka? You mean similar situations as in Kings changing the Flow? What do you mean by that? But on the other hand, kinda makes me think about the Final Arc & the argument that everybody can see a little bit of destiny/change it. Heh.

Side-effect of taking a break from the manga reread is that I'm wondering if it's the first time we have that "Father" mentioned or not. Honest with ya, on my first read I definitely didn't pay attention to this, lmao.

Welcome back to my God I love Alibaba. I love kind characters. Of course he didn't want anybody to die, but something about the fact that he says "they surely still had many things they wanted to do", it's so... humanizing. Not of Alibaba (tho him, too), but of these people who died, who we know nothing about - they were just background characters, after all. But to Alibaba they were people who had their own lives and hopes and dreams. They had a meaning just because they existed.

It feels so... contrasting to Hakuryuu. He had no consideration for his own people, he just used them as means to an end, literally brainwashing them in an extremely painful ways that I very much did NOT forget, until they became nothing but puppets full of anger. Feels weirdly ironic, or maybe even metaphorical that he himself was a slave to his own anger, and so he turned those around him into his image. Ha.

Ugh, this smile is so sweet and gentle.

I checked the next chapter just in case, and, yeah. The anime has some stuff happen here, as in, Kou is close or something & there's some scene on the ship iirc, regarding leaving Balbadd... I complain about the anime a lot - and I will keep doing that - but I think it was a pretty good decision (idk about the execution, I don't remember). Jumping from Night 76 to Night 77 feels kinda weird. I legit had to take a second & check if I didn't miss some chapter.

Maybe Kou was mentioned sometime earlier & I just don't remember, but still. This really is the last pic of the chapter, and suddenly we're in Sindria.

LOL, but real talk I personally would've explored his 'redemption' more and show how he had ruled Kou. I didn't like how so much was skipped over after the Kou arc, I felt so much potential for character + relationship development was lost. For example, him and Kougyoku? Everyone hyped them as siblings but if I'm being real I never got it cuz like, they went through the majority of the manga barely interacting so this relationship was one of the lacking ones sorry 😬 Like hello, seeing them interact after the war was over would've been great? Like imagine if there was tension, what if Kougyoku had resented him after everything? (which would be realistic in my opinion) We know Hakuryuu hated Kouen and his brothers but from what I recall he didn't seem to hate Kougyoku, so what did he feel towards her? How did they interact with each other at the time? I'd like to see their relationship explored more, but just another missed opportunity. (I personally would have also liked to see him and Kouha interact but that's a rant for another day)

Just my opinion, but he really lacked the presence in the final arc like. He was lowkey just...there. (Looking beautiful of course) I mean he had some nice scenes but overall I wished more could've been done with him.

Finished watching IE GO Ultimate Bonds Gryphon... I'M ON THE ROLL WITH THIS STUFF RN!!! Yeah... Must say it was much better than the Ogre thing. I indeed do have a weakness of the GO kids after all hehe, they're lovely!

I especially like that they involved og characters, who weren't really there before (Kazemaru, Fudou, Kabeyama) and the chemistry between Shuu & Tenma (I'll make a separate post bout that :3) and Tsurugi & Hakuryuu.

It may be just my imagination (or I really really want to see it there, also it's possible someone once had mentioned it, so if I'm repeating or stealing your words, apologies).

Anyways. makes me feel, as if Hakuryuu was hurt, cuz Tsurugi left and he seeks power after that to make Tsurugi acknowledge him? Also that talk bout Tsurugi being a lone wolf...he's jelly, baby, I can feel it in my bones. I'd like to think that even if Hakuryuu was the most powerful being, he might've still been seeking Tsurugi's approval. Because deep down he needs him...

But just a humble opinion of mine hehe, don't mind it if u don't like it ;)

I have one more Magi manga/anime comparison tidbit before my longer one(s). This time for the Kingdom of Magic/second season. The Aum Madura pirates arc is a bit truncated and shorter, most notably done by kidnapping Aladdin. This does create some discrepancies though.

It's pointed out that the Eye of the Rukh is a magic tool for magicians to use with their attunement with magic already. They lampshade this slightly with Hakuryuu showing some surprise that he is able to use it. It would have been better if they hadn't though? I don't think people would have thought about it too hard and doing so makes it more obvious of the change that Aladdin isn't there. For me, at least *shrug*.

I'm sorry, she just dislocated the poor guys' shoulders. They're both completely off guard from what I can tell when she does it. I imagine there's a small chance they talked about it beforehand. Morgiana is holding Alibaba's hands and looking ahead, my guess it to aim, while they're preparing to head out but there's not much of a warning, lol.

It makes me giggle. It's a pretty smooth change and still believable for the three of them. They're obviously fine with fantasy and anime physics- no dislocated arm sockets, noodle arms, or crushed legs during landing. And hey, adding physical comedy in an animated medium is a plus.

Last couple were focused on thing's left out, but it's also interesting to see how things are added or changed.

Five Comfort Characters, Five Tags ~

1. Kannonzaka Doppo - I relate to him a whole lot! We both work at the office of a manufacturing firm, we both like omurice and potato salad, we both rely on caffeine to get through the day otherwise we're just tired 24/7... I feel his anxiety regarding work and pretty much most things in life, and admire his development - standing up for himself, taking initiative and being confident in his capabilities and gut instincts. It's inspiring :)

2. Tekhartha Zenyatta - As a Zen main, he's been a comfort character for years. I love his gameplay, most of the time dealing a good balance of damage and healing, which is oddly satisfying to me. Love his lore and him as a character too, of course. Particularly the idea of him being wise but also a trickster lol. Such a fun and interesting character.

3. Shimada Genji - The OG muse of this blog, and the muse that's been active the longest. Six years and still going strong, getting into character with him has gotten quite natural regardless of verse/AU. And I have TONS of those. Watching the Dragons short for the first time was what got me into Overwatch, and I remember getting into it with my Bro. That was one of my favorite memories. Dragon bros 💚

4. Cho Hakkai - Saiyuki was the very first anime that I really got into way back when, so it will always have a special place in my heart. And Hakkai has always been my favorite. My irl friends once said that I'm like Hakkai and it made me happy haha. Can't help but love Mister silly sad, walking wikipedia. Oh and Hakuryuu too! They come as a package~

5. Vash - Particularly Stampede Vash. Not a muse of mine, but my best friend's. She's the one who got me into the series and I got instantly drawn to Vash. At one point, I realized why. His mannerisms, looks, down to his smile, reminds me of someone I used to know. We were close, at lease I thought we were. Sadly we lost touch long ago, but the memories of them were good. In any case, I do love Vash a whole lot and want very much to give him a hug. Or be hugged by him ;; I can imagine he'd give the best hugs

ok lets briefly talk about go now that im done playing (well i still have the hakuryuu stuff but whatever)

overall i think. the changes made to the story to adapt it to game form really improved the whole thing for me in that it made it way less slow (which was why i had such a hard time getting into it w the anime). other changes that imo were huge improvements:

getting to see kidou make the decision of joining raimon (as opposed to being just sent there by hibiki etc for vague reasons) and what exactly it is that he brings to the team that they didnt have before. he feels a lot more needed there than in the anime to me....

again about kidou i like that we saw him admit that his way of training raimon wasnt going well AT ALL LOL (though the kids still apologized to him which i didnt like. unnecessary and undeserved (HE should be apologizing) but okk...)

obviously i have mixed feelings on it because i have mixed feelings on the s3 kageyama redemption happenings and such HOWEVER i did like that there were ever so slightly more hikaru+kidou interactions in the game. theres really not much actual content but kidou telling him to wear his name proudly and take it to places kgym never could + hikaru very clearly looking up to him leave the door open for me to imagine a sort of detached mentor/mentee relationship (LOL)

same chapter i did also really like that fubuki had a little moment w kurama who was starting to feel like he wasnt enough as a striker that he didnt put in as much effort as the first years n that the team didnt need him etc.... bc of course. fubuki went through that sort of stuff as well he used to think the same things etc. (though i was a little disappointed that that conversation was pretty much it and kurama didnt really get any more focus after that)

you may have read some of my complaints about tenma becoming captain and for like 2 episodes thinking he had to be exactly like shindou and do for the team exactly what shindou did despite playing a completely different role and somehow all the other members of the team kind of expecting that kind of leadership from him as well which was VERY weird. well thankfully we have none of that in the game since kurama clears things up immediately before the match. thank god. let out the heaviest sigh of relief when i read that

oh of course before i forget. of course in all versions teikoku is the resistances base of operations. however in the anime this is only relevant during the teikoku part and after that we just never mention it again. i REALLY liked that in the game teikoku very much felt like the actual heart of the resistance bc you go there a bunch of times for info meetings, but also for training away from fifth sectors eyes. theres a real purpose and use behind that status i was really happy to see it

^ related to this since thats where they come to train but i also really liked that you eventually see the teams who join raimons side again and they come back to help and support raimon in their fight by training w them at teikoku. like minamisawa and hyoudou, the kidokawa captain whatever his name is, some other team also but i literally dont remember. hakuren probably. it was also great that shinsuke brings out his avatar by training w sangoku and hyoudou fellow avatar-using keeper. bringing back the avatar resonance they mentioned at the very beginning w shindou and tsurugi twas awesome to see. actually im reading the wiki rn and what do you mean hyoudou also helped shinsuke w his keeper training in the anime. im shaking is my memory that bad? whatever i think the way he eventually brought out his avatar specifically was different anyway and it was better in the game.

literally not as significant as the rest in any way but i liked that nishiki seems very close w the kendo club lol. they were literally fighting the soccer club for him.... and thats where he trained his kick before the match against kidokawa. i also thought it was very interesting how in the kidou vs the team happenings he had a completely opposite stance to the rest of the team and distanced himself from them until they stopped whining about kidous training. i thought it was very fun for him to have such a different mindset from them after training under someoka (who was no doubt as strict and demanding of him as kidou is of the team if not more)

i know i thought there was more but i cant think of anything else right now. we will come back later. maybe

now for some rare game Ls. i thought the game might expand a little more on nishiki and midoris friendship (question mark?) the year before but there was nothing. they interact exactly twice iirc. one time when everyone is annoyed at kidou and nishikis like oh you big babies stop whining 🙄🙄 and she whacks him over the head and one time on the raimon twitter. crying

also i literally played this game for the amagi and mahoro chapter and was CRUSHED about how short it felt in the game... it ended so abruptly in the anime with the whole thing completely gone and forgotten by the next episode i thought for sure the game would treat me (gen'ei trio fan) better but they didnt even have a short scene w mahoro and amagi talking n reconciling after the match like in the anime.... cries. i did like kousakas more active role in it but i think i expected way more cuz i had heard about it from someone who hyped it up before dhfjhh

and lastly (because it was a really great game and i was pleasantly surprised a lot more often than i found stuff i didnt really like so thats all i have to say)

Saturnalia

I didn’t expect to update on Azur Lane so soon but i kind of had to. There is a rerun Sardegna Empire event and i absolutely had to participate. My current quest is, in fact, the Ruskies but it’s hard to ignore the Italian faction considering they’re kind of my fourth favorite dock, after the KMS, IJN, and SN. I actually cleaned up during the last Itai event a while ago, doubling the amount of ships i had in that dock. Aquilifer's Ballade went a long way to my overall Fleet health, giving me a ton of experience and blueprints to finish out my then developing Kraut dock. Plus, i mean, Roma is a thing and i needed to own her so, you know, in for a penny, in for a pound. I ended up added all six of those Aquilifer’s ships to my dock so there is incentive to continue. So far, i have eighteen of the twenty-five available Sardegna ships and i kind of feel like i should go for the rest? I mean, i missed one of the reruns, Empyreal Tragicomedy, so i don’t know how feasible that would be. But, at the same time, i did roll Pola, Zara, and Littorio on random Banners so, maybe? At the very least, i didn’t let this particular rerun of Daedalian Hymn pass me by.

Not gonna lie, this sh*t was costly. This Banner dipped into my pockets heavy. I did not have the Gacha touch this time around. I am a little perturbed about that but, i mean, i rolled all of the available ships. I was looking to pop Aquila, and kind of only Aquila, but she didn’t drop until, like, three days into the event. I had secured every other ship available at that point; Vittorio Veneto, Libeccio, Maestrale, and multiple Nicoloso da Recco, so i was kind of frustrated. I was down under a hundred Wisdom Cubes, something i never do, but finally, Aquila popped. It was bittersweet because i ran through, like, two hundred Cubes to make this happen. Torricelli and Duca degli Abruzzi were a given due to the fact they’re both basically Point awards but getting to those Banner girls was f*cked up. Like, I'm not mad but i am definitely disappointed. Sh*t taxed my pockets more than chasing literally every Ultra Rare ship i own, and the Itais don’t even have a goddamn UR ship to their name! The f*ck? All that said, Vittorio Veneto's costume, The Flower of La Spezia, is top tier cheesecake, man. Live 2D never looked so good!

It’s nuts to think i spent all those resources and time on the grind, for, at best, a tertiary priority. Right now, my focus is on my Northern Parliament dock because those boats are gorgeous. I love their look, with all of the ice and dragon-like artillery. They have a very Iron Blood feel to them and we all know how much i love my Krauts. That said, not much has changed with my current grind. I mean, i was able to get Chapayev and Sovetskya to level 120, with Avrora bringing up the rear at 119. Every ship in my dock, right now, is fully Limit Broken, and I'm slowly, but steadily, leveling up their skills. It’s been a while since I've had such a tall order to fill. It took, what? Two years or so to max out my KMS dock? I imagine it will take much less time to top off my SN Fleet, however. I mean, they have, like, a third of the Iron Blood ships. I already have nineteen of the twenty-three. Literally only missing the boats from Kronshtadt’s event, Abyssal Refrain, and that has yet to have a rerun so I'm feeling pretty good there. I was able to construct Chkalov and have been on the grind to get her completed but that leaves me at a loss. I've be grinding out Hakuryuu blueprints with every intention of Constructing her next but, now that I have such a strong stake in my Sardegna dock, maybe I should go for Marco Polo? I dunno. Something to ponder, I guess? Also, I'm missing Tashkent for some reason because i have the rest of the ships from her event. It’s whatever, though. She can be my Ruskie version of U-110; The ever illusive ship i missed that may or may not bless my dock through unforeseen circumstances. Wishing well, I'm looking at you!

I wrote this in my comic idea dialogue script files before ^^

I'm mainly a visual person so I mainly just wrote the dialogue itself. It's to help guide my future art ideas

Since I've been adding to my JuAli dialogue script ideas lately

My first language is technically Vietnamese (Viet), so excuse the English at times… I try to make my dialogue scripts flow as well as possible

Me: I imagine Judar just looks at Alibaba all smug like this, until he gets the tables turned back on him.

Me: The smug sense of satisfaction that Judar gets when he realizes that Alibaba's rukh are all pink, and teases him about it… It's so cute. Since Judar's a Magi, he would notice that all the rukh around Alibaba turned pink.

Me: LMAO yeah Judar being annoyed by Alibaba is cute. He gets flustered when Alibaba tries to imply that he likes him back (that he also enjoyed it)

C: Cute :")

C: Aaaa yeah makes sense

Me: I forgot where it was, but I think I vaguely remember Aladdin tell Hakuryuu that his rukh was turning pink when he was blushing. I think in some early chapter panel.

Furigana

Intended meaning is kanji, but the speaker verbally says the furigana out loud.

Furigana = Small symbols alongside or above the original characters, usually written in hiragana or katakana (but sometimes kanji) that denotes the pronunciation of a word

The alternative reading provides the same purpose - you can read them both, since the writer considers them both equivalent and relevant. The reader takes the meaning of the furigana.

They can use a different word to emphasize the speaker's tone (or character), or add a certain nuance to the text.

Furigana is also widely used in manga, but not all of them have it. From what I've noticed, shounen manga typically has it, because the audience will also include young kids and teens. Which probably explains why it's in the FGO: Shimousa manga. Biggest pro of kids' manga in general is that they have furigana alongside kanji~

I prefer furigana for accessibility reasons (ex. so I don't need to search up a kanji, or it makes it easier to search up a kanji if I don't know a certain word)

I also hate how a lot of animanga LNs (light novels) don't have it. Like I got the KHR LNs and ROTRK LN recently but each KHR LN is like 300 pages, and the same goes for the ROTRK LN. And it doesn't have furigana, bruh (except for a few specific words). I'll read it in the future, but not now.

I just checked the KHR LN previews out of curiosity and no furigana except for specific words (though a bit more than the ROTRK LN), and really… Why do LNs do this to us... It's so much easier to read kanji when there's furigana, man. Shounen manga typically does this.

That's why I'm gonna try to include furigana for all my fan-comics in JP in the future~~

So I attached the Magi: EN fan-TL as well. Sense Scans was doing a really good job with Magi's EN fan-TL.

I think it's the same fan-TL team all the way through (and they eventually correct character name spellings as the series goes on)

I feel like Viz just makes individual characters' speech styles just sound the same bruh

Though I get they have to shorten the dialogue to make things fit in the speech bubbles, in terms of typesetting

Usually, fan-TLs are almost always more accurate in terms of meaning, but official TLs sound more natural in English. Such a shame that Viz always gets the rights to shounen series.

Viz's Magi official EN TL is decent thankfully. Thank god cuz they botched the EN TLs of my other fave series like KHR, MMBN/EXE, and for my friend, PokeSpe, etc.

I'm a Viz hater cuz they did my beloved KHR soooo dirty. Viz only translated 16/42 volumes of KHR, a quarter of the series, and then tried to hide that they ever translated the series and was super shady about it. But their ROTRK official EN TL is actually really good. I'm surprised

I think I would've hunted Viz (/lh) (/hj) if Magi got a terrible (and incomplete) official localization like KHR did

But I wish Yen Press did the translation. Out of the 3 main manga localizers, Viz, Kodansha, Yen Press, in terms of translation (TL) quality, it goes like this, imo

Yen Press >>>>>>>>> Kodansha >>> Viz

Yen Press did the Kagerou Daze (KagePro) Manga and LNs, Pandora Hearts, Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji), etc. Their TLs are so good and their translation quality tends to be on par with and/or even surpass EN fan-TLs.

Misc Rambles

I first started using CSP in 2016! I've been using it ever since ^^ I like its wide array of brushes, access to 3D models, CSP Assets, etc.

CSP's Text tool was so dog shit for the longest time I'm glad there's finally been improvements to it within the last few years

I like how CSP allows you to input Ruby text. Furigana is a type of Ruby text.

Though I think the tool needs an easier process cuz you have to highlight a kanji, go into the settings, and add the kana characters as furigana, manually. Tedious process tbh... I hope they make it easier someday

Though I'm glad it includes the Ruby text feature

Notion

I love using Notion to type my AU ideas, dialogue scripts, OC documents, and school files in general.

Notion still needs more features (ie. lack of auto correct, lack of different fonts, Notion pages lag with bigger files, etc.) but it's so cool.

I like the pros though like there are unlimited pages, it can embed links/videos directly, can import peoples' templates, and is generally really nice for formatting things. I prefer it over Google Docs for that

Akito Takahashi: guild leader of a sub-branch of a prestigious guild, who gained his way to fame by surviving a dangerous bonding with a demon to survive, and then benefited from accidentally inheriting his position from the ex-guild leader. loose, rough, wholly unpleasant, but still a tested and proven leader

Saris Kokaiyama: rogue messian and ex-knight templar hellbent on seeking revenge on qing-long, whose anger has warped into a blanket hatred for chaos and gaeans in general. he has a lot of issues fueling his particular brand of violence, including fighting with his own beliefs and individuality

Kennosuke Fukita: right-hand man to the sub-branch guild leader. he devoted his life to this clan, having played a part in starting it, and lived for the previous guild leader when they perished suddenly. he acts as father to his men, and his cold, rough exterior belies a gentle love for his people

Johanna Marlowe-Kurogane: senior devil buster with her fingers in far too many pies. she was a teenager and one of the youngest devil busters helping people during the great flood, and has since dedicated her life to saving people in all sorts of ways. she is trusted in babel, but she is sympathetic to the innocents and sometimes works behind babel's back to put forth resources for the homeless and suffering

Fujinori Itou: senior sniper in the guild who works mostly for a paycheck to take care of his terminally ill adoptive older brother. he's the resident smart alec and a prodigy at COMPsmithing, but more than anything he yearns for people to like him, to the point of paying his way into love

Hidetsune "DB Katana" Saionji: the sub-branch ex-guild leader who passed on after a freak accident alone with akito in a dungeon. they were a friendly, but notably mysterious person who always had plans up their sleeves, including what they had planned for akito, the guild, and babel. their plans never reached fruition, but their soul long haunts the guild halls, even years after their passing

Hakuren Fukita: biological son to Kennosuke and Hakuryuu, born by complete accident but loved and raised as a collective son of the guild. like his trans father, he has draconic features matching that of his grandfather, Vritra. raised to be an absolute powerhouse and acts the part, but hates to kill

Mamoru Kokaiyama: adopted daughter to Saris and Lancaster. she was initially rescued by Saris from devil busters when she was very young, but her parent(s) were nowhere to be found, no matter how long and hard Saris looked. eventually, she was adopted at Lancaster's urging. her deformities are the result of an unfavorable union of demon and human, but she makes up for it by being the smartest in her friend group

Yagigatsu, or Katsuo: a half-demon whose demon parent is a Yagi, a harmless goat-demon who sells to humans. they lived a hard life, surviving by the graces of groups of humans and demons who couldn't understand their position as both, until they were found and taken back in by their loving father, and now carry on the business to run a Yagiya of their own

(amos gets his own section bcus he would have broken up the symmetry of the above if i didn't...)

Amos: an awakened innocent who was rescued by Johanna and brought to Akito under the premise that she would later move him to Protopia so he would be safe, but he found his place working with Akito at the guild. despite being extremely nervous, he wants to better himself and be of some use to the people around him

Ok, to be fair, I can imagine him feeling bad about it after calming down. Still, weird choice to want to explain Alma Torran to Judar instead of, idk, Yunan for example. I feel like it would have made the whole dying-and-coming-back-over-and-over-again a little more bearable. To actually know the point of that. Bc when Aladdin and Yunan talk, Yunan admits that Ugo'd never explained anything, and in that form (the blob, probably) form he couldn't ask. So. That fucking sucked.

I mean, I jest, but it's pretty cool. Fate is one of Magi's main themes, that for sure, and to have it explained the way it is, I think it really works.

Maybe that entire becoming more powerful god than the other guy then that guy becoming more powerful than you and then you becoming more powerful than him... etc didn't come out of nowhere here, bc Hakuryuu's falling feels kind of like that. Abra is fallen, so she works against fate, so she fucked up the fate for Hakuryuu, who then proceeded to, idk, +2 to that by also falling, and, since he's not returning things to the actual fate's course, he just makes even bigger of a mess... Which is ironic as fuck. He tried to destroy Al-Thamen by literally doing what they wanted to - sowing more chaos and disasters all around, which at worst could have led the world to an end (given Judar could cause Il Illah to descend, apparently). Idk man, put some make up on to the clown music, you fucking moron.

Like, don't get me wrong, I like Hakuryuu for the most part, but Jesus Fuck he's an idiot. This is why he's constantly painted as immature. Because he fucking is immature. He never thinks things through, has no patience to speak of once he snaps, and ends up just making everything worse for everybody and himself, and wakes up with a hand in the pot, because turns out he has no idea how to handle the aftermath of his stupidass choices, because he was too busy fucking up people's minds to consider what happens after the war.
