This killing game made him nervous and scared
But he always put up a confident smile with you
He never wanted to worry you or make you scared knowing that any of you could get killed so he always tried to make you happy but saying a dumb joke or doing a dumb stunt
He would do anything to distract you
But he knew deep down no matter what he did to make you happy, anybody could get killed at any second
He tried looking into his crystal ball but that didn’t seem to work since his predictions more than half of the time weren’t right
So instead of trying and trying to look into the future, he decided to go ahead and look for you to see how you were doing
To see if you were still happy or needed some cheering up
He looked in the kitchen since you often spent your time in there either eating snacks or making tea with Sakura and Aoi.
But to his luck you weren’t there
So instead he went to your room since that was also another place you spent your time in of course.
He knocked on the door “Hey s/o! It’s me Hiro!” He yelled, and waited for a response
But nothing came through
So he opened the door and was introduced with a bloody sight
You were dead on your bed, your neck and stomach slashed
He fell back on the floor- shaking and screamed
Celestia and Makoto came running and when they looked at your bed, they also became frightened
Celestia quickly told them that she was gonna go get the others while Makoto stayed there watching Yasuhiro knowing he must’ve felt horrible since you guys were together
All Yasuhiro could think is how he wishes he could’ve been there to protect you
If only he wasn’t as scared then maybe he could’ve been there
If only he could predict this could happen
If only his predictions were more accurate
If only instead of trying to cheer you up, he could’ve protected you instead
If only he could turn back in time and protect you instead
But he knows he can’t and that only bring him further into despair

You all were stuck in the funhouse
Day by day you all were getting weaker and weaker by the minute
You all needed food but you all needed to escape to do so
And so far there wasn’t any safe way to do so, the only other way was to kill someone and none of you wanted to
Most of the time you stayed with Gundham since there was nothing else to do
You two were in his room laying down on his bed next to each other, bodies close together as your head was laid down on his chest
You were currently holding Cham-P in your hands, petting him gently while deep in thought
You knew that one of you was going to die soon
Of course, it was the only to escape
You knew what you were going to do soon so you spent as much time with Gundham and the Dark Devas
Once it was time to go, you kissed the Dark Devas and Gundham goodnight and left to your room getting ready
The next morning, Gundham waited for you at the table to go to Monokumas Tai Chi lessons
But after a while of waiting, you never came so instead he headed to your room- but you weren’t there either
So he stood there thinking on where you were until he heard the body announcement
He quickly went ove thinking you might’ve been over there waiting
When he got there, instead he was greeted with you dead body on the floor
Cuts all over yourself and even a big deep slash against your chest near your heart
It was pretty clear it was a suicide considering on how you were holding a small tool in your hand with a gentle smile on your face
All Gundham could think is why you’re like do this. He should’ve been the one dead not you. He was going to kill someone just so the rest of you could leave, but you beat him to it
All he could do is look at your body with despair
Is this why you were spending so much time with him? Were you planning to do this for a while? How long?
Thoughts were racing in his head, his eyes became blurry but he just quickly blinked and wiped his tears off
He knew he had to investigate, after all, you’d died so him and others could leave
But that still doesn’t stop him from feeling despair and wishing that he died instead of you
; ᴄʜɪᴀᴋɪ ˚*✧˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
Before you two were even ont his island, both of you were dating
You would often play games or just have cuddle sessions
Both of you got in Hopes Peak with your talents but that quickly turned around when Junko brought despair and Chiaki got executed
You were heartbroken when you saw Chiaki die in front of you and then you and your other classmates became remnants of despair causing chaos and despair in the world
But with the help of the Future Foundation, you all were saved and had a fresh new start with new memories
But thankfully you remembered being with Chiaki so now you spent a lot of time together playing games to distract yourselves
But what you didn’t know was that Chiaki was the traitor who was with the future foundation.
Chiaki try’s her best to keep away from the other since she doesn’t want to lose you. The only time you are apart is when you are sleeping in your cottages.
You walked Chiaki back to her cottage since it was getting late and then left to your own shortly after, but you failed to notice someone watching you.
The next day, Chiaki went to your cottage so you both can go to the restaurant to meet up with the others.
When she knocked on your door, it pushed open. Despairing thoughts immediately flooded her mind,
‘Were you killed? No, you might’ve just forgotten to close the door... they were forgetful sometimes... yeah... maybe”
Without a second thought she pushed open the door, you weren’t there. ‘They might be in the bathroom.. they might’ve opened the door to leave but went back in to go to the bathroom..’ Chiaki thought.
When she went in your room and saw the bathroom was unlocked which only raised more suspicion. She went in and was greeted with your body against the sink with a big wound on your back with your clothes and hair all messy.
She stepped back and started shaking ‘No. No. No... not them too...’
She ran out and found Hajime and Sonia outside, she immediately called them and brought them over to your cottage.
All she could think is why. Why did it have to be you who died.
She can only think about how this will be last time you will ever see each other even after the killing game, even after you all get out.
She knows no matter what that she will bring hope and destroy this despair.
; ᴋᴀᴢᴜɪᴄʜɪ ˚*✧˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚✮
The despair disease has been going around
Lucky for you and Kazuichi, you didn’t get it but that didn’t stop from Kazuichi being scared
Kazuichi has always been scared, even from the very beginning of the killing game so he always tried to keep you away from the hospital.
You and Kazuichi were looking at old-busted computers. Kazuichi was ranting to you about Nagito and how he seems even more annoying than usual.
You could tell he seemed worried about the whole disease. So, you decided to maybe go run to the store to get some snacks for you and him to maybe cheer him up.
You quickly told Kazuichi you’ll be right back telling him you’re gonna go to the store and get something.
He obviously wanted to go with you since he was worried but you told him to stay here and look around.
You ended up seeing Mikan go into the ‘Titty Typhon’ being oddly suspicious. You wuietly followed her, even if she tried to kill you, you most likely would be able to fight back since Mikan didn’t seem that strong.
But when you went it, what you didn’t except was two people to be there. Mikan and Ibuki. When they saw you, Mikan told Ibuki to get you. She immediately did with Mikan right behind her.
All you could think is how you’re not even going to be able to say goodbye and I love you to Kazuichi, your thought was quickly interrupted when you felt a sharp pain on your neck then darkness consumed you.
Kazuichi was getting more worried, sure the store was a bit far but it shouldn’t take this long.
He quickly ran over with thoughts going through his mind, ‘What if you were killed?!’ He sure hoped he was wrong.
On the way to the store, he heard a scream. He rushed over and saw Hiyoko on the floor, her kimono messed up.
“I-It’s an-another murder..!” She yelled as she pointed at the entrance.
When he went in he saw Ibuki body hanging. He told Hiyoko to run and tell the others.
When Kazuichi and Hiyoko ran back with the others, they were also greeted with your body, taped against a pillar.
“W-WHAT??!” Kazuichi yelled when he saw your body. Your dead body wasn’t there earlier, so how?
He ran over to your body looking at it with tearful eyes.
Why did you have to be killed?
Why didn’t he go after you?
How did this happen?
Why would someone do this?
Who did it?
Thoughts were running through his head. All he could do is stand there and cry. He’s never felt this terrified before, why did his s/o have to die.
He thought you both were going to get out of this place together, but things never seem to go right.
He cried and cried as despairing thoughts consumed him

Butter Mammon (half-filipino!Iwa + filipino!reader)
ೃ‧₊› a b o u t t h i s p o s t° ➮ Pairing: none ➮ Oneshot ➮ Tags: platonic, half-filipino!Iwaizumi + filipino!reader ➮ Word Count: 1129
Today was a great day- a superb day. Your cousins had come over, all the way from Cebu (1) to Japan. It was awesome- mostly because they brought some great food over. They had packed some great goodies, which you were so excited to eat, mostly snacks since they couldn't bring most foods (fresh foods etc.) over on a plane. They did get to bring one of your favorites- butter mammon(2)! It was an absolutely amazing dessert (or snack), and the butter one is the best. (in my opinion anyways- )
You were more than happy to bring it to school; the sooner you could eat it the better! It was always so good to have it during lunch and eating it during school would make it even a bit easier to suffer through. You could probably brag to your friends how you had food from abroad, a small island country. You barely got to eat any of this, and it was such a treat. Of course, you wouldn't easily share it.
It was the start of your (short) food "trip" with some of your favorite foods. Of course, your cousins couldn't bring them in bulk and you had to share with your family, but at least you got some- and you'd eat as much of it as you could. You brought a butter mammon, the kind from Red Ribbon (2). It was always absolutely delicious, and it always lifted the mood when you ate it.
You had finished your drink and were going to the vending machine to get another. You ate your mammon while you were at it, enjoying every bite. After you ran out, you wouldn't get more for a long time, even years. It wasn't all the time that your cousins came around, after all. You started to think about what you were going to get from the vending machine. You had basically memorized all of the drinks in there, having gone to Seijoh for more than two years already. There were lots of good ones, especially their (favorite drink). It was one of the things you liked about the school.
As you were walking to the vending machine, you saw one of your classmates, Iwaizumi Hajime, sitting with his friends. He happened to look at you, and you waved at him, just a nice thing to do. They were sitting and talking, and as he looked at you, he noticed the mammon in your hand. He was mildly surprised, definitely interested. You thought he may have thought it was something else, as there wasn't too much mammon anywhere nearby these days. Or maybe he had gone to the Philippines once and tried them. You didn't know, and it didn't really matter too much.
As you arrived at the vending machine, you took a look at the stock available and chose one, taking a few coins out of your wallet to pay for it. When you started to head back, you noticed Iwaizumi walking towards the vending machine, wallet in hand. It was probably a coincidence, happened to need a drink too. You hadn't yet finished your mammon and it was about halfway done, and he looked at it.
"Is that butter mammon?" he asked. "Yeah," you said, as if it was obvious and it was common for one to recognize it. "That's great," he said, getting himself a drink from the vending machine for himself. "You ever been to the Philippines?" "Yeah, a few times, I have family who lives in Cebu," you said, wishing you were there, so that you could eat this whenever you wanted. "That's nice. It's always fun there. I remember one time, we went to Ayala and my siblings refused to get out of Timezone (3)," he laughed. You laughed as well, "Omg, yes, I could stay the entire day there. Then afterwards, I would go to the Mr. Donut and eat some donuts..."
The two of you ended up talking for the rest of the lunch period, about the experiences you had back in Cebu. Overall, they were pretty fun, and you enjoyed talking and relating to someone about this. You didn't really have any Filipino friends here in Japan, and it was really nice for a change to be able to talk about this without them asking all sorts of questions from their impressions of the country. Visiting a country really allows you to understand and absorb the place and the culture, and having family from there really deepens your understanding too. It's a different experience. They say that a picture may be worth a thousand words, but an entire 360 degree scene is worth a million.
You were happy that you had made a new friend, one whom you could share your experiences with. When you got home, you went to find another mammon, because you wanted to eat one. When you looked in the cabinet, there weren't any left. It turned out that your parents and their guests, who were your neighbors, had eaten them all by the time you got there. You were definitely disappointed, but there wasn't anything you could do about it now.
Since there was no mammon left, you decided to eat otap- something else you liked. It was flaky and sweet, a favorite among your family. Shamrock brand (4) was the best, and that was the one your cousins had brought you. It was always good, and you were never let down. Unless you count that one time your younger brother dropped the entire package and all of the cookies fell apart, it was always good, eating otap.
So, the next day, you brought some otap to school. You placed it in your locker very carefully, above all the other things so that it wouldn't get squashed and crumble. It would be such a shame if it did. Well, at least you could still eat it- pour it into your mouth-
Anyways, when lunch came around, you went back to your locker to get your lunch (with the otap) and you found it untouched. Just the way it should be. On your way to your usual spot, you spotted Iwaizumi, and after your long conversation yesterday, you felt that you had to brag to him about the otap too. It was just too good not to share. Not to make him feel bad or anything, just that you were really happy to have the otap- because it's just good, y'know? And while you were talking, you decided to give him a few of them, because you're really a nice person (4) and sharing is caring.
The next day, he came over to your house with a few snacks, saying, "I shared the cookies with my family, they were really happy to get them." You thanked him for the cookies and next day, you brought back a few sweets your mom had made as thanks, you had only given him small amount of them, and you felt bad (and your mom also insisted) that he had given you a whole bag of snacks. The two of you kept bringing food to each other as thanks for the gift before, and eventually you ended up joining their lunch group, sharing food with everyone else.
Notes: (1) Cebu is one of the biggest islands in the Philippines, and I used Cebu instead of Manila (the capital) because I've personally been there a few times haha. (2) Red Ribbon is a bakery which makes all sorts of good stuff, including mammon. It's pretty popular in the Philippines. (3) Timezone is an arcade, which I would often go to whenever I visit Cebu. I could personally be there for hours and not have played there enough... I once was given a bucket for all the tickets I was getting 😂 (4) I know you're a nice person don't say you aren't. :)

Hey hey! So in the discord we were discussing about a prompt of if someone (presumably the reader) had hanahaki and they died, the person they loved would be counted as the blackened in a way. So what if they never knew the person they loved, loved them back? Would this be an okay prompt? If so, could you do Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko for me ? 🥺👉👈
-Mom Anon
I am taking it immediately, I apologize to other mods as I have a passion for this prompt! So interesting, my blossom.
THIS MADE MY WRITING BLOG GO AWAY, YES PLEASE, MY BLOSSOM! YOU'RE SO SMART! ALL OF YOU! SUCH A BIG BRAIN ENERGY!
Thank you very much for requesting and don't forget to take care of yourself and stay hydrated!!!! - mod Chiaki
Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko with a crush that has hanahaki disease and dies in the killing game from it, leaving them to be the blackened!
Trigger warning: Mentions of blood!
Kazuichi:
♡ The day was good so far for him, well almost because he wanted to see you
♡ He loved you, you were kind to him and talked to him as often as you could
♡ He loved your smile and making you laugh
♡ What he didn’t expect is to find others standing around something, blocking it from his view
♡ "What is it? Are you hiding something?" He cheerfully asked them, only to see how horrified they looked.
♡ "You shouldn't see this," Fuyuhiko turned to him, ready to drag him out.
♡ He would've been able to too, if not for the space he created that allowed Kazuichi to see what caught their attention
♡ There you were, leaned against a wall blood and flowers surrounding you. Few of them fell onto your clothes and stayed there thanks to your position.
♡ "What... happened?"
♡ "It's the h-hanahaki disease," Mikan turned to him nervously.
♡ "It's a disease, r-right? That doesn't mean that this is what I think it is... right?" He muttered it out, your skin looked cold to touch. A contrast against how warm it usually was.
♡ "The victim suffers from an unrequited love and at a c-certain point the flowers will suffocate them. I-I'M SO SORRY," Mikan wailed, leaving him to be there in silence.
♡ Everyone looked at him weirdly, waiting for him to scream, to react how he normally did to a corpse. But no. He was deadly silent, an unreadable expression on his face.
♡ "But what will we do? What about the trial?" Sonia questioned.
♡ "I'll tell you what ya'll do! This is as good as murder," Monokuma appeared put of nowhere. "It's simple. The one they loved is the blackened!"
♡ And just as soon as he appeared, he disappeared leaving them all in silence
♡ "What? This is quite easy," Nagito commented, already on his way back to his cottage.
♡ "Tell me who it is! Who did they love? I'll find that bastard!" Kazuichi grabbed Nagito by his shirt, bringing him to a halt. Tears were beginning to appear in his eyes the more desperate he became.
♡ "It's you, of course," and with that he left.
♡ Kazuichi went silent as he processed the news, everyone could only look on in sympathy as they observed him.
♡ You are dead and he is the blackened. He loved you, but he didn’t know you loved him back. In the end you were suffering and it's all his fault.
♡ Because he is an idiot! Because he couldn't notice it in time! If he did, he would have been able to save you.
♡ The last thing he felt was the ground under his knees as he fell down, crying.
Fuyuhiko:
♡ No one knew what they were about to walk into on the main island
♡ There was a small flower garden that the girls had dragged them into
♡ Fuyuhiko didn’t know why he went with them, maybe because he was expecting for you to be there
♡ But when they got there to see you laying amidst the flowers, eerily still, they all stopped in their tracks
♡ "S../O...," he muttered out, his voice too weak to yell. He wanted to scream, he didn't want you to die!
♡ He stood there for most of the investigation, crying as he watched the others trying to search for clues
♡ Others have tried to lead him away to let him calm down, only for him to scream at them
♡ There was no sign of a wound and truthfully, no evidence of poison
♡ "But who killed them? We were all together at breakfast and only S/O excused themselves later," Hajime mentioned. They were trying to figure it out for the longest time during the trial.
♡ There was no murder weapon, no witness, no killer, as if this was a natural death
♡ "Monokuma, is the killer really one of us?" Chiaki turned to him, a frown evident on her face.
♡ "Of course it is, I never lie!"
♡ "How can we figure it out when there's no evidence!" Fuyuhiko yelled out.
♡ All of them stayed silent, none of them knew the answer. After all, there was no one who could have slipped away from breakfast
♡ There was no sign of a trap that could've killed you either
♡ "U-um, I'm sorry. B-but can I say something?" Mikan spoke out with a shaky voice.
♡ "Yeah, anything will help us now."
♡ "I examined their body like you said a-and just incase I looked in their mouth for any sign of poison. And I found this instead," she held up a flower with a part of its stem, it was covered in blood.
♡ "What's that supposed to mean?" Fuyuhiko was he getting more frustrated by the second.
♡ "And after further inspection, I-I found more of them lying around," others looked at her expectantly, not knowing where she was going with it. "That's why I think that they had the hanahaki disease."
♡ "But those are from an unrequited love, aren't they? How are we supposed to find out who they loved?" Fuyuhiko questioned everyone, only to see them go silent.
♡ It's as if they knew something he didn't. He couldn't believe that you died from hanahaki disease, that you loved one of them. He probably never stood a chance, not when you developed hanahaki disease for someone else.
♡ And the guy wasn't for you either if he let you die. It was his fault, whoever he was.
♡ Hajime looked up after a while to meet his eyes, only to speak out the words he was scared of
♡ "It's you."
♡ "What...?" That's the first and last time they saw compeltely crumble, fall to his knees, tears streaking down his face.
♡ What has he done?

If you want, could you do 20 for komahina?? Thank you!!!
aright now here is a longer and angstier one. feel like i could have improved, but im honestly chill with how this turned out. i sorta allowed the definition of the prompt go lose, so i apologize if it wasnt what u were expecting lol
ao3
20: things you said that i wasn’t meant to hear
"I love you."
Three simple words, that weren't to be thrown around so carelessly.
Three simple words Komaeda wasn't meant to hear.
Especially not coming from a talentless figure of hope.
No, no. Calling Hajime Hinata a figure of hope was a term he wasn't sure if he liked.
That title was better suited for the man he had been before. An amazing man, made out of artificial hope and a lack of empathy. A man that only succeeded in going against his very purpose, and following the goal of that despairful bitch with bright red nails.
Surely though, at the very end, Kamukura could have brought hope, like he was meant to. All bad things lead to hopeful things, afterall. Or so he seemed to try to ponder.
...Hajime Hinata.
Hinata-kun.
The boy Komaeda couldn't wrap his head around at all.
Because he didn't make sense.
Hajime Hinata was supposed to be a bug Komaeda could squash under his foot. Nothing more than a measly reserve course student. Living on nothing more than a lie.
But Hinata… was more like a roach. Or a fly. No matter what seemed to happen, Komaeda couldn't squish him under his heel, and so that bug stayed, as pesky as ever.
An annoyance that lived on impossible circumstances.
Yet an annoyance that had seemed to capture the hearts of the others who lived on the island. The ultimates who had once succumbed to despair, and hardly deserved to live unpunished.
But it would be hypocritical for Komaeda to leave himself out.
And he tried to burn himself out, to put an end to the game of despair.
But his bad luck didn't seem to go away. Which was why he was here in the first place, lying in a hospital bed with a discarded hand, instead of being rightfully gone with those flames.
Still on the same island he had thought he had destroyed.
He can't understand why he was still here. Why? Why?
He had asked the same question to Hinata, he remembered, after the pest came to visit him once again in that same hospital room.
Yet Komaeda had only been met with a cocked eyebrow and a question right back at him.
"What do you mean?"
"Don't act dumb with me," a disgruntled sound emitted from Komaeda. "We both know I should be dead."
"But you aren't. So stop saying shit like that."
A chuckle, sounding more like a choke.
"Why are you even bothering me anymore, Hinata-kun?"
"I'm bothering you?" was a light response, before Hinata looked away from him. "Well, the answer's obvious, so I'm not sure why you're even asking, especially when it's embarrassing to say. I care about you, alright?"
I care about you.
Komaeda had found another four words he wasn't meant to hear. Because the idea of them felt far too unreal.
He can't remember when it started. A bit before the robotic replacement had been installed, perhaps.
Perhaps it was because the tension had grown too strong, or Hinata had grown too sick of his voice. But either way the two of them had ended up with their lips crashed together in Komaeda's cabin, and things had only shamelessly progressed.
A relationship that may have been better to never exist, but at the same time, probably couldn't not exist.
That was always something Komaeda couldn't understand about Hinata.
How the other could possibly bare to look at him in the eyes, at his body, at anything about him. How the other could possibly bare to wake up with him in the morning, and to check on him so often.
If Hinata was a fly, Komaeda was definitely trash. An unhealthy attraction.
He questions it. How someone as worthless as Hinata could possibly become so great. How someone like him could be aspiring, to work alongside the Ultimate Hope himself.
How someone like him could possibly spend time with someone like Komaeda, who disappointed even himself.
It's one of those nights, where he hears it for the first time.
Sitting in bed, at whatever god forsaken time, with his mind going too fast, but still with a compulsion to leave, run away. A spiral.
But in that state, he gets up way too quickly, and it's not really a surprise when he hears the mumbling beside him.
"Komaeda…?"
Hinata sounds half asleep, of course. Komaeda doesn’t turn around to look at him.
"Ah, Hinata-kun, don't worry. Go back to bed." Some half hearted reassurance, all he can muster, as he tries to get his feet off and onto the floor, but he's stopped by a forceful grab to his wrist.
Had Hinata-kun always had such a firm grip?
"Hey, where are you going?"
"Just for a walk."
"What are you talking about? It's the middle of the night, Komaeda."
This is where Komaeda finally turns his head to meet the eyes of the boy laying aside him. Hinata had prompted himself with his other arm, his eyes rather active for someone who had just been woken up, glaring.
(Perhaps he's disillusioned, but he could swear they were glowing, as well.)
"And I can make my own decisions, can I not?"
"Obviously," is Hinata's almost distrungled sounding voice, "but I'm not sure if I…"
"Trust me?" Komaeda fills in, and in the second of silence after that, he chuckles dryly, a gross sound even to his own ears.
"That's not the point." Is the only denial. Well, of course. Hinata-kun wasn't one to lie about that kind of stuff, but he wouldn't agree with Komaeda either.
"You're sweating, Komaeda. You need to relax. Lay back down."
Ah… was he sweating? Komaeda places his real hand to his face, and only then that he realises that it's shaking, as he feels what definitely is cold damp sweat running down his brow.
He hadn't even noticed. How hilarious.
He wants to laugh again, but he finds it getting stuck in his throat.
"That doesn't matter," he musters instead. "Hinata-kun, we both know it doesn't matter-"
But he's cut off by an arm around his chest, and before he can resist he's pulled onto his side, that same arm keeping him in place.
"Breathe."
A one word request, yet somehow demanding.
But Komaeda can't deny that it feels warm and firm in the half embrace, and he attempts to focus on that, shutting his eyes.
Security.
He tries to focus on the sounds of the other person beside one, Hinata's own breathing. A rhythmic sound, that pulls him to copy. His breathing slowly, evening… quieting down. He realises just then how bad it had been.
There's a moment of silence, nothing but the two's breathing, before he hears Hinata sigh and suddenly he's being pulled in closer, until he's inches away from the other's chest.
Komaeda can practically hear the other's heartbeat, if he focuses on it, and for some reason that causes his own heartbeat to go a little faster.
"You're here, Komaeda."
Words that dont really make sense, but weren't any less reassuring, said in a delicate tone.
He was here. With Hinata.
And there's some shifting, with Hinata moving his legs and tilting his head inwards in order to get comfortable, and Komaeda follows suit, with less movements.
And that's when it happens. The small three words, barely above a whisper, as though Hinata was trying to make sure Komaeda didn't catch it.
"I love you."
And Komaeda's breath hitches in his throat, and his fingers grasp to the bedsheets.
(Had Hinata-kun even realised what he said that night? Wasn't it most likely he was still half asleep, still in a disillusioned state?)
Ah. Ah.
It's strange, because logically, that sentence should be something that would bring him comfort, as out of the blue as it was.
But no, it was far too casual, and he doesn't get it, why would Hinata-kun say something like that to him-
(Half asleep. Not thinking. That had to be it.)
To throw around stuff like that so casually. It's disturbing, and truly, Hinata-kun must be cruel.
(He couldn't have meant it.)
Those words were something Komaeda had craved with his whole being. To be held like this, to be told that, to be loved.
But those thoughts had always been a fantasy, something that he knew he was never actually meant to hear. Something that he'd never get the chance to hear.
He can barely remember ever being told it. Not even when he was younger, when even his father refused to say it, and his mother only whispered it at times and places where it was certain no harm would befall them, for fear of bad luck.
(But none of those precautions had mattered in the end.)
He knew what those words meant, what they foretold. Words anyone else could listen to, but not him, because the punishment was far too harsh, too harsh-
He doesn't even realize he's grabbed onto the night shirt Hinata still had on, so hard his knuckles were turning white. Afterall, Hinata didn't make a movement. It was clear he had fallen back asleep already.
Unaware of Komaeda, who was not even able to emit a noise, even as he trembles.
Komaeda isn't sure whether to be grateful he wasn't disturbing him,
or to wish for him to wake up, as he finds he can't fall asleep for the next few hours. Pondering, pestering thoughts, but not being able to move.
Three simple words Komaeda wasn't meant to hear.
Especially not coming from Hinata-kun.

Read it on AO3 here!
She doesn’t wake up for months.
No one does, for awhile, but he wasn’t upset about that. The only thing that mattered was her waking up.
The pods were all in a circle around the main hub that the Neo-World Program, both victims and blackened surrounding it, looking as though they were sleeping peacefully.
Fuyuhiko sat next to Peko’s pod every day, to the point where the others were starting to get worried about him. Sometimes it would seem like she’d moved, even though that wasn’t possible- his eyes were just playing cruel tricks on him. He talked to her sometimes too, but that felt weird most of the time, so he ended up just being in her company most of the time.
Hajime joined him every once in awhile. It was sort of unspoken that he was going to be the ‘leader’ among them. He was the most level-headed, since he had a little bit of Izuru in him still, and his logical thoughts almost freaked Fuyuhiko out some of the time. He was so different than he’d been in the simulation. But really, everyone was different. Those were different people.
The days were long. Sometimes he’d talk to Peko, and tell her how things were going. “You know,” he’d tell her, “Sonia decided she wants to learn to cook. She’s never had to because of all that princess shit. It’s kinda funny. I think you’d laugh.”
He wished she would wake up and laugh. Or just stare. It didn’t really matter. It had been such a long time since he’d seen her eyes.
“You should really eat something,” Hajime said, feet kicked up on a stool he’d brought in from his cottage.
Fuyuhiko was leaning his elbows on his knees, watching Peko’s still face. “I ate this morning.”
“I meant eating with everyone else, in the hotel,” Hajime said gently, “It would probably be good for you to have some conversation.”
“We talk.”
“Yeah, we do.” Hajime said, “But I talk to Kazuichi too, and Sonia and Akane go do girl stuff together. You don’t really hang out with us.”
“You miss Chiaki, don’t you?” Fuyuhiko snapped suddenly, looking over at Hajime with a sort of anger he wasn’t sure even he understood.
Hajime’s eyebrows went up and his face took on a bit of a shield. For a moment, Fuyuhiko felt guilty for bringing her up and almost took it back, but Hajime answered his question anyway.
“Of course I miss Chiaki,” he said softly, looking away from Fuyuhiko. “I miss her every day.”
“So you’re saying if she was in a pod right now, you wouldn’t spend every moment with her until she woke up?”
Hajime blew out his cheeks. “I can’t say that I would or wouldn’t, but Chiaki wanted us to move forward. She would’ve… Probably yelled at me, to the best of her ability, if I spent all my time by her side when she wasn’t awake to know I was there.”
Fuyuhiko let out a short laugh. “I can’t imagine her yelling at anyone.”
Hajime laughed too, though it was weaker. “Yeah. Me either.”
****
Though he didn’t like it, Fuyuhiko took Hajime’s advice to heart and started spending time with the others. They didn’t seem to know how to handle it first, and Akane specifically asked him what his deal was, but he just laughed them off and tried to act as normal as possible.
But then people started waking up.
Gundham woke up first, shouting about the Dark Lord never being fully able to die, but he softened up real quick when Sonia started crying. Fuyuhiko looked away when he offered her a hug, feeling a stab of pain go through him. He noticed Hajime left the room.
Hiyoko and Ibuki were next, both of them disoriented and Ibuki far quieter than usual. Hiyoko called two people stupid once she woke up, so at least one of them was normal.
Fuyuhiko fell into his old habits when the others started coming out of their comas, sitting by Peko and praying to God she’d be the next one up.
Nagito woke up.
Nekomaru woke up.
Mikan woke up, apologizing.
Byakuya woke up, though none of them could say with one hundred percent certainty what his real name was.
Hajime left each event earlier. Fuyuhiko stayed later.
Mahiru and Teru Teru woke up too, leaving just Peko. And Mahiru was too nice to him about the whole damn thing for him to even yell at her or say something snarky. She should hate him, after all.
But more than anything, Fuyuhiko didn’t understand the order of things. Peko was the strongest person he knew, and he knew she could pull herself out of this. So why wasn’t she?
A few more days passed, and Hajime started bringing him food instead of arguing that he should be hanging out with the others. If anyone got it, it was Hajime. He went on lots of long walks by himself for hours, after all.
“You know, you should probably wake up soon,” Fuyuhiko said softly one night when it was far too late for him to even be up. “I can’t do this much longer on my own, Kazuichi is driving me fuckin’ crazy since Gundham woke up. He’s loud as shit.”
He heard a huff from beneath the glass.
His eyes grew wide. “Peko?”
The pressurized inside of the pod disengaged and the glass on the pod slid back. Fuyuhiko didn’t even breathe for several moments, leaning forward to stare into her face. After a few moments, she opened her eyes, staring up at him.
Fuyuhiko felt himself tearing up. “Peko?”
She blinked, opening and closing her mouth. She sat up a little, struggling to support herself. “Young master?”
Unable to help himself, he sat next to her on the bed and pulled her into a loose hug so she could get out if she wanted to. She was stiff in his arms for a couple moments, then wrapped her arms around his waist, settling her cheek against his chest.
“Do you remember what happened?” He asked her.
She nodded against his chest. “Everything.”
He let out a shaky sigh and pulled back to look at her, still holding onto her shoulders. Peko’s arms were still around him as well, and once she got a good look at him, she reached up and touched the skin under his eye with delicate fingers. He’d almost forgotten that his eye, or Junko’s eye, rather, had been removed from the socket, and he was actually needing to wear an eye patch again.
“Is it gone?” Peko asked softly.
“Yeah. Yeah, it’s gone.” She snatched her hands back suddenly and sat up a little straighter. “My apologies, young master, I seem to have overstepped-”
“Nah, you can cut that shit out,” he said softly, cutting her off. “I don’t want you to call me that. Not anymore. You and me, we’re equals.”
She nodded, though she seemed unsure. “Then would it be alright… If I hugged you again?”
He didn’t even answer, just pulled her up against him once more. She sighed almost inaudibly and hugged him as tight as her feeble muscles would let her. Fuyuhiko wasn’t sure what he had expected from their reunion after all this time, but this was the best possible outcome, in his opinion.
“Do you want anything? Like some water, or something to eat? Or maybe you want to go back to sleep?”
She shook her head. “No. I want to get up.”
“Okay, yeah, we can do that. I can help, if you want. We could go down to the beach?”
“We’re on a beach?”
“Yeah. Jabberwock island. It’s real, we were just on a… Virtual one. I’ll explain later.”
She was wearing a thick grey nightgown, so Fuyuhiko didn’t ask her if she wanted to change, but he helped her to her feet and helped her drape one arm around his neck. Their height difference actually made it easier for her to lean against him. He led her down to the beach slowly, hoping no one else would see them. He wanted her to himself for a little while longer.
Peko sighed when they got out into the sun. She stopped walking and tilted her head back, letting the sunlight kiss her face. Fuyuhiko watched her, once more in awe of her. Not that he ever really stopped feeling that way. After a few moments, she felt him staring at her and glanced down at him, blushing lightly.
“I’m sorry,” She said, “Let’s keep walking.”
“No, we can stay still if you want to. I don’t mind. You don’t have to worry about what I want anymore, you know.”
“Ah… I’m not sure I can do that.”
She looked a little unsure, and he watched her for another few seconds. “Man, I fuckin’ missed you.”
She blushed, rather uncharacteristically, but Fuyuhiko thought it was cute, so he didn’t want to say anything drawing attention to it. Instead they just kept walking, down to the beach, and Peko started to direct him towards the water.
“Whoa, be careful,” he reached around to take her hand that was farthest from him. They were very close now. “Your muscles probably aren’t what they used to be.”
She sighed. “No, they aren’t.”
“Hey, don’t be discouraged. Nekomaru was bedridden for a day before he could get up. You’re already doing better than him.”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you,” Peko said softly, as though she hadn’t heard his last words at all. “In the end, I wanted to save you. I wasn’t expecting you to come after me, during the execution. It… Surprised me.”
“Well, you would’ve done the same for me.”
“Of course.”
He knew what she meant- he knew she was sincere. She would’ve done it for him even if she hadn’t been a tool. They’d been friends before her training, they’d grown up together. “No, like, I mean… Shit, I mean if I’d done it, killed Mahiru, it would’ve been to protect you.”
“My life is not that-”
“Peko, I would die for you.”
She blinked hard, like she hadn’t expected that and didn’t know if she could believe it or not. He kept eye contact with her so she would know that he was serious.
“Forgive me, young master, I think it would be best if I sat for a moment. I’m getting dizzy.”
“Hey, you don’t have to say sorry,” he replied, helping her to sit on the sand. She let out a sigh and sagged forward a bit once she was sitting.
He shifted a little uncomfortably next to her. “I… I would get if you don’t wanna be around me anymore, you don’t have to, but if you do, you don’t have to call me that shit. Just Fuyuhiko is fine.”
She turned wide eyes upon him. “Why would I not want to be around you?”
“Uh…” He hadn’t expected this question. “Uh, well, I mean, you were basically forced to hang around me and serve me. I don’t want you to feel like you have to do that.”
“Can I do that and still be around you?”
“Yeah! Yes! I just, uh, I don’t want you to think you owe me anything, or, shit, I don’t know, I just don’t want you to feel trapped.”
She dug her toes into the sand. “I don’t.”
“Okay, yeah… Good.”
“I feel… Happy, I think.”
“Yeah?” “Yes.” She cocked her head to the side. “I am also aware that we have done many awful things. I want to feel worse about that. For now, I think I am just happy to be alive.”
He shoved the toe of his shoe into the sand, watching it intently and trying not to smile. Peko didn’t often speak of how she felt, mostly because his parents hadn’t wanted her to feel anything, so it was nice to not have to guess what she was feeling.
“Hey, I wanna say sorry.”
She turned surprised eyes onto him. “What for?”
“For not sticking up for you more, when we were kids. For not forcing my parents to understand that I never wanted a tool. Because I… I meant it, you know, what I said before…” He heaved a deep sigh. “I just wanted you.”
Her gaze softened. “You do not have to apologize for that. When we were the ultimate despair, we were equal, I suppose.” “We were also killing people.”
She leaned closer to him. “We were killing people before that too.”
He laughed. “I guess you’ve got me there. God, we were fuckin’ stupid, huh?”
Peko rested her chin on her knees, looking out over the ocean. “Hm. I think… Perhaps, there is more to it then our intelligence level.”
He nudged her shoulder with his. “Do you… Do you forgive me though?”
She looked over at him again. “I would have given my life for you. Not just because you were my master.” That took him by surprise. “I never wanted that.” “Not wanting it doesn’t make it any less true. I very much would’ve done it. I did, in fact.” “That’s because-”
“Not because I felt an obligation,” She said firmly. “I did not.”
They sat in silence for a bit, just listening to the ocean and watching it. Fuyuhiko wanted to say something else, anything. He’d been sitting and waiting for her to wake up so he could talk to her. Tell her, you idiot, his mind screamed at him. He looked over at her, watching her, curled up in a ball. She was so perfect. He should tell her that, right? He sighed and looked away from her again.
“I feel like we’re both dancin’ around the real question,” He said. “I care about you. A lot. I don’t wanna live without you.”
“I-”
“I want to be with you in whatever way that looks like. I don’t want you as a tool, I want you as my partner in crime- or, no, let’s not do anymore crime.” He knew he was rambling now, but he couldn’t stop. “I just want you to know that I don’t know when I fell in love with you, I just know that I did and to be honest I think I might actually die without you. Doing life without you… In the simulation… Even if there weren’t any more murders, that was the hardest shit I’ve ever had to do.”
She didn’t seem to know what to say, so his mouth caught up with the nervousness of his brain and he kept talking.
“Shit, I didn’t mean to put on that pressure on you, that’s super uncool. You don’t have to answer right now, or ever, really. I’m okay with us just spending time together in whatever way possible, we can just… Yeah.”
She laughed. It was a real laugh, one that came from her gut, one that he hadn’t heard since they were kids. After a few moments, it died down, but he felt the reverberations of it for hours.
“That was… Very nice.” She looked at him, smiling. “I do feel… Strong feelings for you, as well. I never knew how to place them, and I was always told they were wrong. I suppose I am in love with you. I don’t know how to do that.”
“However you do it is the right way,” he said softly, ignoring how his heart was exploding and putting itself back together all at once. He scooted a little closer to her. “Cause for the first time… We get to be us.”
She smiled. “Us.” She seemed tired all of a sudden, or maybe just content. She leaned against him, head on his shoulder. “It will take some… Getting used to. I am very used to serving you.”
“I’ll be… Ahem,” he cleared his throat, “Serving you, every once in awhile. You deserve that.”
“Oh, I’m not so sure about that.”
“I’ll just have to prove it to you.” He tilted his cheek against her head. “I’m so glad you woke up.”
“Me too.”
The others flooded the beach then, pulling both Peko and Fuyuhiko to their feet and chattering loudly. Ibuki was crying the loudest, hanging onto Peko, and Peko didn’t seem quite sure how to react or where to put her hands. She was graceful with everyone who approached her, trying not to show too much emotion, it looked like, and finally, Mahiru stood before her.
“I’m sorry,” Peko said, her voice strong.
“We all did what we thought we had to,” Mahiru replied, and gestured to everyone. “There’s no blame on this beach.”
Peko’s eyes welled up with tears then, and she turned back to Fuyuhiko. They became the center of a massive, very loud group hug, and Peko was crying harder than he’d ever heard her cry. But that was okay. They were all going to be okay.

Kyoji’s Birthday Surprise
//A long-ass post but worth reading.
*Knocks on her door* Mikan? You there?
*Opens the door* O-oh, hello Kyoji.
How's it goin'?
U-umm...it’s alright...what br-brings you here...?
Well, uh...I...I wanted to ask you something.
Wh-what is it...?
*Deep breath*...I know we're not in the best location. We're low on resources and the scenery isn't exactly top notch...but I know what today is, and I was w-wondering if you're not doing anything right now, maybe you'd like to hang out with me. You know, like...a-as a d-date.
E-eh?! A d-date?!
Yeah! Like, you know, it's...like a date...and stuff.
B-but...w-with me...? N-nobody's ever d-done that, n-not even as a j-joke...
Well, there's a first time for everything. Besides, I wanted to talk to you. It's been so long since we've had the chance to talk about anything not related to our current situation. It’s good to take time off, you know?
W-well...i-if you really want to...
*He gently takes her hand* Of course I want to. Now let's be off, shall we?
D-do you have somewhere in mind...?
Well, I kinda did. But since you're the birthday girl, is there anywhere you want to go?
I d-don’t really have anywhere in m-mind...
That's alright. I know some places we can go.
Th-them...I'll let you lead the way...?
Alrighty.
*He leads her to a secluded spot near a window in the 4th branch* I like it here. Nobody really comes by, so it's really peaceful.
D-do you come here a lot...?
Yeah. Or if I have other things on my mind. Or if I just can't sleep.
It is nice here I suppose...
Yeah. Besides, we're not here to think about all that. We're hear for you.*He holds up a small cake on a plate* Cake?
Eh?! U-um...a-alright, but...wh-where were you keeping that....?
Ryokai taught me a trick. For as you look into my eyes- poof! -it's gone from my hands. And it's now on the table behind you.
Wh- huh?! H-how are y-you doing that?!
Maaaagic~
....nah, I'm just kidding. That cake was back there the whole time. This one here's just plastic.
O-oh...I g-get it now. I r-really thought Araki-kun h-had t-taught you how to do that...
Yeah, he's teaching me some stuff, but nothing quite to that level. Still, I thought I'd put on a little show for you with the disappearing cake trick.
Eheheheh...I g-guess that's the advantage of h-having an exorcist w-with us...th-though I c-could do without d-demons on the island...
Yeah, same here. I ran into one of them and it called me a "Tit-shitter." ...Not even sure what that means.
O-oh, um, o-of course!
*Times flies as the two spend time eating cake and enjoying each others' presence*
*as they finish off the cake* W-wow! That was amazing! D-did Mage-san m-make that...?
She did indeed. It's amazing, isn't it? *cries tears of joy*
Y-yeah, it really is!
Sweet things bring such great joy. Praise be to food-makers of all varieties.
U-um...K-Kyoji...th-thank you for all this...y-you didn't have to go through all this trouble for me...
Don't be silly. If I could have, I would've gone all out with this. You're important to me, after all.
I....important....
Mikan, can I ask you something?
U-um...sure..
What are your feelings on love?
I.....d-don’t know...I h-haven’t exactly h-had...g-good experiences.....
Well...what does love mean to you? Like what's your ideal concept of it?
U-um....someone wh-who cares about me...?
What about someone who's there when you need them?
Y-yeah....that too.
Someone who'll support you through good and bad times. Someone who encourages you and wants you to do your best. Someone who likes you for who you are, not who they want you to be.
Y-yeah....?
...Mikan?
Y-yes...?
....I know you like me.
Eh?!
I mean, it’s pretty obvious
EH?!
You don't need get so embarrassed about it though.
B-b-but I...!
Uuuu....I'm s-s-sorry...!
Hey, hey, it's alright. *he hugs her* It's okay
B-but...
It's okay. You don't have to apologize. But...I don’t really understand why.
W-well....y-you were the f-first one t-to ever defend me....I c-could never let that g-go.
It's not just because I'm nice to you, is it?
Th-there's more b-but I g-get nervous when I try to say it....
It's okay. You have nothing to be nervous about. I'm not gonna get angry or anything. I'd just like to hear what you have to say. You're safe with me, Mikan. You can tell me anything.
....I adm-mire you...you're always r-ready to h-help people, and even if you h-have your own b-battles to fight, you don't let th-them stop you f-from helping as much as you can. I l-like the way it feels wh-when I'm w-with you...b-because I d-don't f-feel like I have to d-do anything to k-keep you around...b-because I can tell you r-r-really care..
..a-and it hurts to know y-you probably l-like Gekkougahara-san m-more than me...!
.....You really feel that way about me?
Y....yes...
Even knowing about the things I've done? The people I've hurt?
*Nods*
....I honestly never expected this.
H-huh....?
Someone actually falling for a guy like me. I mean, you've got people in your class like Mahiru, Sonia, Hajime, Chiaki...but me though?
It...it doesn't feel the same w-with my classmates....
Are they all just friends?
Y-yes...
I see...well, as long as we’re confessing things I’ve got something I want to tell you as well.
...your feelings are mutual.
.......Eh....?
EH?!!
Yeah....it's true.
B-b-but I...wh-what?!
Is it so hard to believe? You're amazing, Mikan.
A-am I....?
Absolutely. You're the entire reason you and your schoolmates are alive. If it weren't for that situation the roof, Enoshima wouldn't have been forced to flee and there's no way I could've been able to get anyone out of there.
B-but...I didn't r-really do anything on th-the roof...
You tricked her. You conned the Ultimate Despair and ensured everyone involved got out safely. And you risked your own life and your reputation to. You're braver than you give yourself credit.
M-my reputation w-was never great anyway...a-and m-my life n-never really mattered either....
It matters to me. It matters to your classmates. It matters to a lot of people.
...........
Mikan? Are you glad you met me?
O-of course!
Do I make you happy?
Yes...
Do you remember what I said to you back at Hope's Peak before the helicopter arrived?
Um...k-kind of...
I said I need you.
.....that c-can't be true...people have never n-needed m-me unless th-they were ill....
Is it really so hard to believe? Didn't I already tell you? We're a team, you and I. But more than that...I don't just need you.....I want you in my life.
In your...life...
For a long time, people only seemed to care about what I could do for them. Like I was just a means to an end. And I went along with it because I liked feeling useful....a lot of terrible things happened because of that. I don't understand why I get a free pass just because I'm working for Future Foundation. Morality doesn't work that way. If I'm to adhere to a strict code about what is and is not acceptable, I can make no exceptions. Not even for myself. Because of that, I'd written off the idea of a relationship with anyone. But now I'm not so sure anymore.
Kyoji....you n-never should have thought that...
I could say the same about you...A lot of people would be devastated if something happened to you. I know I would be. That whole time during Yuuko's game, I-I was scared out of my mind something was going to happen....I've felt useless my whole life. Helping people is the only thing that matters...
...y-you're anything but useless...
...same goes for you. Guess we're both a little lacking in self-esteem, huh?
Eheheheh...I suppose so....
It's okay, though. We can work on it.
...so....with everything going on, this may not be a great time to start a relationship. But...yeah, there's my confession. Whatever happens, I want you to know that.
W-well...this crisis hasn't stopped o-other people from g-g-getting together....
True. But...I still don't know what the hell I'm doing. This is all a first for me.
And for m-me...
But hey, like I said, we can figure it out, right? We're scientists, after all.
Th-then let's figure it out together....?
...If that's what you want.
*Kyoji smiles and moves closer to her*
So...one last question. Do you remember what else I did back at Hope's Peak?
I d-do...
Would it be too forward of me to do it again?
I d-don't m-mind...
*He leans in and kisses her deeply*
*She kisses back holding one of his hands with hers tightly*
*He pulls away slightly* Happy birthday, Mikan
Thank you...Kyoji...
