Before you buy a keratin hair loss concealer, you might want to check out the following points below. Here are some of the important things you need to keep in mind, so you can get value for your money.
1. See to it that the product is an exact match to your natural hair color
Of course, this is kind of self-explanatory. Nobody, who is in the right frame of mind, would think that it is fairly okay to have an unnatural looking hair. When trying to look for a hair loss concealer product, see to it that what you are going to buy is an exact match to your natural hair color.
2. Ease of Application
Most of us are living a frenzied life or have a hectic schedule to keep. Hence, each second counts and for that reason, as much as possible, you only need to look for products that will not require you to spend an inordinate amount of time in applying your concealer such as the hair building fiber. When it comes to hair loss concealers, it should be easy-peasy to apply and that it should not take you forever doing it.
3. It should work effectively regardless of what hairstyle you want to have
One measure to gauge that you have come across a very good hair loss concealer is when you see that it works okay with any hairstyle. It does not matter whether your hair is curly, wavy, short, black, thinning, or grey (lots or just streaks of it), your choice of keratin fiber concealer should work okay and lets you achieve your best look so far.
4. The materials that the hair fibers are made of
There are two kinds of hair fibers in the market today, natural and non-natural. Natural is comprised of keratin hair fibers and this type of hair loss concealing product is highly recommended because they give you a more natural look and, since they are manufactured with static electricity, they attach your hair strands on their own without having the need for hair sprays to keep them in place.
Here is the takeaway when it comes to hair loss concealing products:
Look only for a female hair loss concealer that is reputed for its high resistance to heat, water, and humidity. Of paramount importance here is that you should be confident that the product itself will not backfire on you even if you have them exposed to rain or sun. If in case, you are going to have a dip in your pool, it should not make you feel worried about doing so.

Instant Full Head of Hair With Hair Loss Concealers
Tumblr media
Some of you may remember the infomercials advertising what is commonly referred to as "hair in a can". Those late-night informercials left many with a poor perception of hair loss concealers. However, many concealers on the market today provide a visual boost in density without looking like paint on the scalp. In this article, we will go over the basics of hair loss concealers and discuss several major products including Toppik, Caboki, DermMatch and Couvre.
Toppik/Caboki Hair Fibers
Toppik and Caboki are "sprinkle solution" hair loss concealers that are sprinkled on the balding / thinning area. Hair fibers are magnetically charged to bind to thinning hair follicles. The hair fibers coat the miniaturized hair follicle and make it appear longer and thicker. Hair fibers naturally recreate the appearance of a thick, dense head of hair.
Toppik/Caboki Pros and Cons
Although hair fibers are popular and well known amongst men and women experiencing hair loss, some feel that hair fibers come off easily and leave a dusty residue on pillows, shirts and headrests. However, this issue can be easily mitigated with the use of a hair spray. The spray locks the hair fibers in to place, so they don't come off easily. Hair fibers are the most popular form of hair loss concealers because the application takes seconds. A few sprinkles of hair fibers on the thinning area and like magic, the bald spot disappears.
DermMatch
Unlike Toppik and Caboki, DermMatch is a hard-packed powder formula. There is no "sprinkle" or "spray". Instead, DermMatch is used by wetting the applicator and gently dabbing it in the hard-packed powder formula. The applicator is then gently applied to the scalp over the thinning areas until the thinning/bald spot disappears.
DermMatch Pros and Cons
DermMatch is one of the only hair loss concealers that is waterproof. Therefore, DermMatch can stand up in the rain, pool or any other water activity. DermMatch can only be removed with the use of shampoo. For this reason, it is very popular amongst balding men and women. However, the application is a lot more time consuming than those that contain hair fibers, especially if the individual has a large balding area. Moreover, DermMatch does not work as well on fine miniaturized follicles because it does not make the follicle appear thicker. DermMatch works by matching the color of the scalp and hair, so that the contrast is minimized giving the individual the appearance of a fuller head of hair.
COUVRé
COUVRé is a "scalp tinting" solution that works similarly to DermMatch by tinting the scalp to match the individuals hair color. This provides the individual with a visually fuller head of hair, because the scalp is seen through hair. However, COUVRé is a "masking lotion" unlike DermMatch which is a hard-packed powder formula. COUVRé Pros and Cons According to many users, COUVRé is applied quickly and easily with the use of a sponge applicator. Based on the ingredients, COUVRé is non-toxic and safe to use. Many users report that their hair does not appear greasy or sticky and the lotion does not come off on their clothes or towels. However, because COUVRé is a tinting lotion, the individual requires a reasonable amount of hair to apply the lotion. Unfortunately, individuals with severe hair loss or diffused patterned alopecia (DPA) do not use COUVRé because it can appear like paint if there is not enough hair.
Conclusion
While hair loss concealers work great, they do not slow, stop or reverse hair loss. If left untreated hereditary hair loss will spread and progress over time. At some point, hair loss concealers will no longer be an option for balding individuals. This is because hair loss concealers require some hair to blend in to, but without hair the fibers, powders and lotions will not work. The only treatment that can completely restore hair on a bald scalp is hair transplant surgery. Hair loss concealers work great in conjunction with surgical hair restoration.
