Tips for Choosing the Perfect Hair Smoothening Treatment
Tumblr media
Hair smoothening treatments have become increasingly popular for those seeking sleek, frizz-free locks. However, with so many options available, selecting the right treatment for your hair type and lifestyle can be overwhelming. To help you make an informed decision, here are five essential tips when choosing the perfect hair smoothening treatment.
You can easily get an affordable hair smoothening price in Varanasi by R Three Salon. We are offering you to choose the best hair smoothening treatment according to your needs and budget.
Understand Your Hair Type and Condition
The first step in choosing a hair smoothening treatment is to understand your hair type and its current condition. Different hair types—whether fine, coarse, curly, or straight—will react differently to smoothening treatments. Moreover, the condition of your hair, such as its level of damage, porosity, and previous chemical treatments, will affect the outcome.
If you have fine or thin hair, look for a treatment that won't weigh your hair down or make it look greasy.
For those with thick, coarse hair, a more intense treatment may be required to achieve the desired level of smoothness.
Curly-haired individuals should choose a treatment that relaxes the curls without completely eliminating natural volume and bounce.
Consider a treatment with conditioning agents if your hair is dry or damaged to help repair and strengthen your strands.
Decide on the Level of Commitment and Maintenance
Smoothening treatments vary in longevity and maintenance requirements. Before choosing a treatment, decide how much time and effort you are willing to invest in maintaining your smooth hair. Are you looking for a temporary solution or a long-term commitment? Some treatments last a few weeks, while others can last several months.
Temporary smoothening treatments are suitable for those who wish to experiment with smooth hair without the commitment.
Semi-permanent treatments usually last for a few months and may gradually fade with each wash.
Permanent hair smoothening needs the most commitment, often requiring touch-ups at the roots as your hair grows.
Be prepared for potential changes in your hair care routine, including using specific shampoos, conditioners, and styling products recommended for post-treatment care.
Research the Chemicals Involved
Many smoothening treatments involve chemicals that alter the hair's structure. It is vital to research the ingredients in a treatment to ensure they are safe and appropriate for your hair.
Some treatments contain formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing ingredients, which can be harmful if inhaled and may cause irritation
Look for formaldehyde-free treatments if you're concerned about health risks or have a sensitive scalp.
Ask your stylist to provide a list of the chemicals involved in the treatment and do your research on each.
Consider a treatment with natural ingredients if you prefer a gentler approach.
Be aware of any potential side effects, such as dryness, breakage, or scalp reactions, and discuss these with your stylist beforehand.
Consider Your Lifestyle and Hair Goals
Your lifestyle plays a significant role in determining which smoothening treatment is ideal for you. Think about your daily routine, the climate you live in, and your overall hair goals. For those leading active lifestyles or residing in humid environments, a durable treatment resistant to sweat and moisture might be necessary.
Opt for a treatment that suits your active lifestyle and reduces the need for frequent styling or touch-ups.
If you live in a humid climate, look for a treatment with anti-humidity properties to prevent frizz.
Choose a treatment that aligns with your hair goals, whether it's to achieve a pin-straight look or to maintain some natural texture.
Be realistic about the results, and choose a treatment that enhances your hair’s natural beauty rather than completely transforming it.
Select a Qualified Professional and Salon
The skill and experience of the stylist performing your hair smoothening treatment are just as important as the quality of the treatment itself. A qualified professional will be able to recommend the best treatment for your specific needs and ensure its proper application.
Research salons and stylists who specialize in hair smoothening treatments and have positive reviews.
Ensure that the salon follows safety protocols, especially when handling chemicals.
Ask for before-and-after photos of previous clients to gauge the stylist’s expertise.
During the consultation, assess the stylist’s knowledge and whether they address all your concerns and questions.
Conclusion
Finding the perfect hair smoothening treatment requires research, understanding your hair's needs, and considering your personal lifestyle and preferences. By following these five tips, you can choose a treatment that suits you best, ensuring beautiful, smooth, and manageable hair. R

The Timeless Elegance of Designer Banarasi Silk Sarees
Banarasi silk sarees, originating from the ancient city of Varanasi (also known as Banaras) in India, have been a symbol of elegance, tradition, and craftsmanship for centuries. These sarees are renowned for their intricate designs, luxurious fabric, and the painstaking handwork that goes into their creation. Designer Banarasi silk sarees elevate this traditional attire to new heights, blending classical charm with contemporary aesthetics to cater to modern tastes while preserving cultural heritage.
The Rich History of Banarasi Silk
The tradition of weaving Banarasi silk sarees dates back to the Mughal era, where Persian motifs were incorporated into Indian art forms, resulting in the distinctive patterns seen today. Historically, these sarees were a favorite among royalty and nobility due to their opulent appeal. The weaving technique and designs have been passed down through generations, with each piece telling a unique story of craftsmanship and artistry.
Craftsmanship and Techniques
Creating a Banarasi silk saree is a labor-intensive process that involves several stages, from selecting the finest silk to the final touches of embroidery and embellishments. The weavers use a technique called 'Kadwa,' where each motif is woven separately, allowing for greater intricacy and detail. This method ensures that the designs are rich and vibrant, making the sarees stand out.
Gold and silver threads, known as zari, are often used to enhance the patterns, adding a metallic sheen that is characteristic of Banarasi sarees. The motifs range from floral and foliate designs to intricate patterns inspired by Mughal art, including scenes from Indian mythology and nature.
The Designer Touch
Designer Banarasi silk sarees are the epitome of luxury and elegance, merging traditional techniques with modern design sensibilities. Designers experiment with colors, patterns, and fabrics to create unique pieces that appeal to contemporary women. While traditional Banarasi sarees often feature red, gold, and green hues, modern designs may incorporate pastels, bold colors, and unconventional combinations.
Innovative designers also experiment with different draping styles and cuts to make the saree more versatile and wearable for various occasions. By adding elements like sequins, beadwork, and contemporary motifs, they create sarees that are perfect for weddings, parties, and other special events.
Styling a Banarasi Silk Saree
Styling a designer Banarasi silk saree involves a mix of tradition and modernity. Here are a few tips to make the most of this exquisite attire:
Blouse Designs: Pair your saree with a well-fitted blouse that complements the saree's design. You can opt for traditional blouses or contemporary styles like halter necks, off-shoulder, or embellished sleeves.
Jewelry: Gold jewelry traditionally pairs well with Banarasi sarees, enhancing their regal look. However, you can also experiment with statement pieces or modern accessories to add a unique touch.
Footwear: Heels or traditional juttis can complete the look. Ensure that the footwear is comfortable, especially if you're attending a long event.
Hair and Makeup: Depending on the occasion, you can choose a traditional bun adorned with flowers or a sleek, modern hairstyle. Makeup can range from bold and glamorous to subtle and elegant, based on your personal style and the event.
Conclusion
Designer Banarasi silk sarees are a testament to the rich cultural heritage of India and the timeless elegance of traditional attire. By incorporating contemporary designs and styles, these sarees continue to captivate women across generations. Whether for a wedding, a festival, or a special event, a Banarasi silk saree is always a cherished addition to any wardrobe, reflecting both the grandeur of the past and the innovation of the present.

While sarees continue to be an epitome of traditional wear, the fashion landscape has witnessed a remarkable fusion of the old and the new. Contemporary Indian fashion designers have skillfully blended traditional elements with modern silhouettes, giving rise to Indo-western ensembles that exude elegance and panache. Anarkalis, fusion wear, and indo-western gowns are some of the popular choices that harmonize traditional craftsmanship with a modern flair, catering to the evolving preferences of women across the country.
Furthermore, India's diverse cultural heritage has gifted the fashion world with an array of traditional attire, each with its unique charm. Notably, India's fashion scene isn't just about attire; accessories play an integral role in defining a complete look. Handcrafted bags, embellished footwear, and intricately designed hair accessories complement and elevate the overall ensemble, adding finesse to every look.
Moreover, the advent of social media and e-commerce platforms has provided a global platform for Indian fashion to reach a wider audience. Influencers and fashion bloggers play a significant role in showcasing the dynamism and versatility of Indian fashion, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.
In conclusion, the journey through women's fashion in India is a mesmerizing odyssey that celebrates the confluence of tradition, innovation, and individual expression. Women in the Indian Epics
This post is in response to @hindumythologyevent (i won’t be able to write tomorrow)
Ramayana and Mahabharata, while being epics centred around Hinduism, are actually integral parts of Indian culture as a whole. Everyone in India has grown up knowing about these epics, but never about the women. I would like to take this moment to make people realize THESE. EPICS. WOULD. BE . NON. EXISTANT. WITHOUT WOMEN. HECK ALL OF US WOULD BE.
1. RAMAYANA: While there’ s no shift in the status of women chronologically, there definitely is a marked changed in the social status of women in the epic geographically.
  North -
Kaushalya : Princess of Southern Kosala (modern day Bundelkhand in India), she had proposed her marriage to Dasharath, Ram’s father, to stop the war between their kingdoms. In the epics, she is shown as “virtuous” and “sacrificing”, and is Ram’s birth mother.
Kaikeyi : Princess of Kekaya (modern day Pakistan-Afghanistan border region), she had married Dasharatha of her own accord, on her own terms. She was a powerful woman, and a powerful warrior - she had saved Dasharath’s life in a war, and consequently Dasharatha had granted her two boons. She used these boons later to banish Ram to the forest for 14 years and make her son Bharata the heir. A figure of scorn in the epic, Kaikeyi was actually an independent woman, who knew her cards.
Sumitra : She just kind of exists we don’t know much about her, except that she’s the mother of the twins Lakshmana and Shatrughna.
Sunaina : Queen of Videha (modern day Nepal), she was actually the one who ran the kingdom while her husband, Janak, looked after the “spiritual” nd “philosophical” aspects. Most people don’t even know about her.
Sita : The female protagonist, she is the Princess of Videha, and thus also called Vaidehi. In fact, there is a language in her honour called Maithili after her. She is actually quite passive in the epics, shown as yet again “virtuous” and blah blah blah. A few versions also say that she was actually Ravan’s daughter, or the reincarnation of a woman who Ravan had molested and so the woman vowed that she would be the cause of his death (mmm not so much I mean the dude was asking for it). FINALLY she does something after Ram banishes her cause people accuse her of Stockholm Syndrome WHILE SHE’S PREGNANT, and then tries to take her back once he gets to know that he’s a dad - twist, Sita has to prove she’s innocent by WALKING THROUGH FIRE AGAIN (she did it once after she escaped). So instead of doing this shitty thing again, she invoked the Earth Goddess (another legend says Sita is her daughter) and went away with her.
Manthara : Kaikeyi’s nanny, she came along with her after she married Dasharatha to take care of her children. Shown as a disfigured old hunchback, she is the one who had “instigated” Kaikeyi to banish Ram and make Bharata emperor. She’s one of the most hated characters in the Ramayana.
South - (FINALLY women don’t call their husbands ‘lord’ or ‘my king’)
Tara : The Monkey Empress, Tara was a powerful individual. After her husband Bali was killed by Rama, she ran the kingdom while her brother-in-law Sugreev whored away. Really wise, and commanded respect.
Mandodari : Daughter of the architect of Asuras Mayasur, Mandodari was another powerful woman. She was Ravan’s first wife, and is often seen speaking her opinions in the epics, reprimanding Ravan and genuinely being a boss-ass bitch, which as the epics state “was unusual”. Legend also states that Shiva had made her out of a frog (manduk in sanskrit), so that Ravan could stop pestering them.
Shurpanakha : Quite literally meaning “as sharp as nails), Shurpanakha was Ravan’s sister. Also known as Meenakshi, some hold her responsible for the annihilation of Ravan as her revenge for Ravan killing her husband. She had actually tried to seduce Ram and Lakshman while they were in the forest, but instead they pranked her, and not in the nice way (people, YOU DO NOT PRANK A DEMON PRINCESS). So when she saw Sita laughing, she thought it wa sher idea and attempted to kill her. Immediately, the “chivalrous” Lakshman ran to defend Sita and cut off “the evil temptress’” nose. So anywho Shurpanakha tells Ravan to avenge her, and later she goes to Ayodhya and spreads rumours about Sita’s affair with Ravan for revenge.
Kaikesi : Ravan’s mother, Kaikesi was the original heir to Lanka before it was given to Kuber, the dwarf lord of wealth. She later married the monk Vishravas, and had almighty children (some say this is the only reason she married him). She was the one who created Mega Ravan after the war to avenge herslef.
Sulochana : The Naga Princess, Sulochana was the daughter of the snake king Vasuki. Not much is known about her, except that she committed suicide after her husband Meghnad (Ravan’s son) was killed.
other characters : Trijata - she was Sita’s bodyguard in Lanka, and also Ravan’s  niece. She was the one who consoled Sita and protected her from the other demons.
Lankini : The guardian of Lanka, she had been defeated by Hanuman.
Urmila : Sita’s younger sister, who was married to Lakshman. Later, she fell into a coma for 14 years, till the time all three of our protagonists returned.
Surasa : The Sea Dragon, she tested Hanuman’s strength on his way to Lanka by attempting to eat him.
Simhika : The Shadow monster, who ate creatures by grabbing their shadows. She was killed by Hanuman.
2. MAHABHARATA : Ok this epic is more recognized, and also the women here are SO much more badass. The Mahabharata represents a chronological change in women’s status in Indian society.
Urvashi : Queen of the nymphs (apsaras), Urvashi had married the mortal king Pururavas on the condition that nobody will hurt her pet lamb, and that nobody except Pururavas will see her naked. So the gods killed her lamb and “opened the doors with mighty winds” and “lit the skies with lightning” when Pururavas and Urvashi were having sex, so everyone could see Urvashi naked. She then left Pururavas, who grew mad. Later, she tried to seduce Arjun (Pururavas’ descendant) and when he refused, she cursed him to become a eunuch.
Ganga : The River Goddess, she married Shantanu only on the condition that he would never question her or her actions. Then, Ganga proceeded to drown all of her and Shantanu’s children. When Shantanu finally stopped her from drowning the eighth one, it was revealed that they were actually gods cursed as humans and Ganga was only doing this so that they could go back to being gods again. Anywho, since Shantanu had technically questioned her actions, she left him and took the child. This child was Bhishma.
Satyavati : She was born when a fish ingested a king’s sperm (LONG story), and the fish gave birth to her. She was known for her beauty that rivalled the gods, and also her fish stank. she had sex with the sage Parashara and gave birth on an island to Vyasa (the Mahabharata’s author). In return, Parashara granted her the boon of irresistible scent. Later, she married Shantanu on one condition - that only her lineage would rule the throne, which forced Bhishma to take his vow of celibacy. A woman of naked ambition, she made sure that it was her blood only that ruled the throne of Hastinapur.
Amba : The princess of Kashi (modern day Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh), she and her two sisters were abducted from their marriage by Bhishma on Satyavati’s order to be married to her son Vichitravirya. Amba escaped Bhishma, but her husband refused to accept as she “was now another man’s property” (BITCH). When she asked Bhishma to marry her, he refused because of his stupid vow. So she sought revenge on him and went to the warrior sage Parashuram. Parashuram was enraged at Amba’s condition, and invited Bhishma to a duel till death. However, he realized that their duel could actually end the world and stopped it. Angry, Amba burnt herself alive and promised to be reborn as Bhishma’s death. She was reborn as the transwoman Shikhandi, Draupadi’s sibling, and ultimately killed Bhishma. (more popular versions state that she actually stood in front of Arjuna, and since Bhishma couldn’t “raise a hand on a transwoman”, Arjuna could safely kill Bhishma from behind her.
Gandhari : Princess of Gandhara (modern day Afghanistan), Gandhari’s kingdom was destroyed by Bhishma and she was married to Dhritarashtra, the blind prince. To aid her husband, she also blinded herself for life by wearing a blindfold at all times. Mother of the hundred Kauravas, she had uttered that fateful curse which caused the destruction of Krishna and his empire.
Kunti : Princess of Mathura, she was adopted by king Kuntihoja. A resourceful and sharp woman, she had received a boon to have kids by any god she wanted. Out of curiosity, she tested the boon and got the son of the Sun god, Karna. Not ready to be a teen mom, she threw the baby in a river (the baby lived). Later she married Pandu, Dhritarashtra’s younger brother, and gave birth to Yudhishthir, Bhima and Arjuna from Yama (god of death and law), Vayu (god of wind) and Indra (indian zeus) respectively. She spent her entire life protecting Pandu’s five children after his death, even burning six people alive during the Varnavat incident.
Madri : Princess of Madradesh (present day Tamil Nadu, India), she was Pandu’s second wife and gave birth to the twins Nakul and Sahadeva from the Ashvini Twins (gods of healing and knowledge, she had used Kunti’s boon). She committed suicide after Pandu’s death.
Draupadi : Princess of Panchal (modern day Uttar Pradesh, India although some people say it could also be Punjab), she was born from fire. She and her brother were created to avenge their foster father Drupad. Married to all five Pandavas, she later became Empress of Indraprastha, and encouraged her husbands to fight for their rights. Molested and disrobed after the Gambling Hall incident, she vowed to destroy the Kuru dynasty - and that she would not wash her hair until they were washed with Dushasana’s blood, the man who had disrobed her. Krishna treated her like his own sister, and today she serves as an inspiration to all women.
There are a LOT more women in the Ramayana and Mahabharata, but i would have to write another separate 500 pager for that, and honestly i have run out of brain juice right now. so i leave you with this - STAY BADASS LADIES.

Bhikshanta Shiva - Supreme Naked Beggar
A comprehensive description by Yogi Ananda Saraswathi:
BHIKSHATANA is a manifestation of Lord Shiva as the Supreme Naked Beggar. Bhikshatanar is the murti who asks for alms. He is smeared in white ash, forehead bears the Tripundra, the Shaiva tilaka composed as three horizontal lines with red dot in the middle; with good omen in eyes, fingers with grass to the right, with Trishula and Kapala in the left hands, nice paduka in feet, with dangling red matted hair, jatamandala or jatabhadra, disheveled matted locks, moon on head, patta, ornamental head band, deer-mrigam in the right hand, a vessel for alms in the left, with bulged belly, multiple necklaces, armlets, elbow bands, bracelets, snake tied around his waist, white yagnopavita worn across the chest, followed by love-sick women, so much describes Bhikshatana. Various Puranas describe the backdrop of Lord Shiva taking this manifestation. In the South, Bhikshatana has a different depiction. The front arm is stretched out and downwards. It is holding a bit of grass or another plant in the kataka gesture, near the mouth of a deer who is leaping playfully by his side. The back arm is raised holding a Damaru. The front left holds a Kapala for begging. The back left hand holds a Trishula decorated with peacock feathers. The left leg is firmly rooted in the ground while right is slightly bent. He wears the wooden sandals, the Paduka or is barefoot. His attendants, the ganas and women, often seven in number eager to embrace him, follow. These women are shown to have their cloths slipping from the loins symbolizing lust. This depiction shares much of Bhairava iconography and is linked to the forest legend. This begging iconography is also described in the Satarudriya. It is symbolic of a sustainer of the universe and life-sustaining food. Again this is uniquely from the ascetic Kapalika and Pashupata sects. Images of Bhikshatana are found throughout South Indian Shaivite temples and almost unknown in Northern Indian. Near naked, the phallus is covered either by a tiger skin loin cloth or heavily ornamented as a cover. UPADESA UNDHIYAR: Sri Muruganaar’s Tiruvundyar reached up to Verse 70. As Muruganar was translating this story to Tamil he stopped at the part where Siva is to teach the rishis. Since this portion was to be in the voice of Siva as the Mahaguru, he wanted Bhagavan Ramana to complete this portion. In Murguna’s eyes, Bhagavan was a manifestation of Siva Himself. Bhagavan was compassionate to write the remaining portions. These verses narrate Lord Siva enlightening the ascetics of the Daruka Forests. As such Verses 70-137 was sung by Bhagavan. This culminated as 37 verses in Upadesa Undihyar. It was later translated in sanskrit as Upadesa Saram. DARUKAVANAM FOREST: The background story of Daruka or Darukavanam Forests is this. While the Puranas describe the householder ascetics life, their tapas shows that they were following the path of ‘kamya karma.’ This mean one emphasizes on deeds and performing rituals. They were performing tapas for a long duration and prayed to Siva. They were staunch ritualists who believed that rituals karmas were the way to ultimate Bliss. They exhibited their ignorance by performance of various kinds of yagas and yagnas –sacrificial rites to obtain siddhis – powers for both this world and the next. They had become intoxicated by the use of mantras, yantras and tantras techniques. ‘Karma alone is of foremost importance; even God cannot prevent them from yielding fruits’ was their arrogant attitude. So they stopped worshiping God. They were not to realize that, whatever be the deeds, is there One Who provides the doer with the fruits? How can inanimate deeds automatically give fruits. Not realizing these facts, the rishis pursued their dogma of karma. These paths are prescribed by the Purva Mimamsa school which concerned with the interpretation and practice of Karma Kanda. This portion of Vedas relates to rituals and ceremonial rites. In all His compassion, Lord Siva appears to purify their minds by teaching the ultimate truth. This was to make them realise that actions are born out of ignorance of one’s own nature. Knowledge is the only way to the Ultimate Reality. So Lord Siva’s makes his advent as a Bhikshatanar-beggar. Vishnu accompanies as his wife, Mohini, glamorous girl. In this form the Lord is naked but quite enchanting. His appearance is Urdhvalinga, with an erect phallus. So was Mohini. The Naked Lord came to the street of the rishis to get alms and Mohini followed Him. The rishis are attracted to the enchanting Mohini and started following her. They forgot all about their karmas. On the other hand the rishi pathinis, the wives, are attracted to the robust-built Siva. They forgot what they were doing, allowed their clothes to fall off and followed Him. They were also dancing, singing and love-sick. The rishis get upset. They started to have double standards. While they were in pursuit of Mohini, they got upset with Siva as their wives have lost their virtue by following a Naked Beggar. So they uses all the mantras and ritualistic powers to destroy Siva. They performed abhichayagam which will produce bad effects. They directed snakes, demons, tigers, fire and drum that came out of the yagna fires against the Lord. Siva was beyond defeat and made them all as ornaments. He peeled off the skin of the tiger and wore it round his waist; caught hold of the ball of fire in his left hand and held it aloft and calmed the serpent and wore it round his neck as an ornament. By now, Lord Shiva had begun to dance in joy. This irritated the rishis because the wives started to enjoy the dance. So they set up the monster against him, He dwarfed the monster, stood on it on one leg and continued his dance. Vishnu and the others were charmed by this Ananda Tandava - Joyous Divine Dance of the Lord. Finally the forest dwellers realise Siva’s true nature when Anusuya, the wife of sage Atri enlightened the sages that the Beggar couple was none other than Shiva and Vishnu. PASHUPATA: Shiva later returned with Parvati and eventually revealed his Supreme form and exalted the Pashupata vow – by which a man restrains his passion, becomes celibate, and roams naked smeared with holy ash, declaring that such a lifestyle would lead to moksha. The forests prostrate at his feet and beg for knowledge. Lord Siva led the ascetics from their low level spiritual maturity. They had to be elevated gradually from the grosser methods of spiritual practice such as puja, japa, dhyana and pranayama towards the refined method of Self-enquiry. Siva takes His true form and taught that “there is only one thing here that is called the Self or God or Brahman. Whatever is seen in this dual world is only Consciousness and not different from it, and that perfect Blissful Consciousness You are. KURMA PURANA: Brahma declares that he is the Supreme Creator of the Universe in the council of rishis. Lord Shiva appeared as an infinite pillar of light and challenged Brahma. The council accepts Siva’s superiority. Brahma remains obstinate and upsets Siva. He transforms into a terrifying Bhairva and cut off one of Brahma’s heads with the flick of his fingernail. This form is depicted as Brahmashirascheda Murti. Brahma’s death is redeemed by his lifetime asceticism. Thereafter Brahma accepts Shiva’s superiority. The story does not end here. The Shiva Purana, Matsya Purana and Skanda Purana give different reasons for the decapitation. The reason given is Brahma’s lust and incest for his daughter. However all the Puranic versions point to Brahma’s head getting stuck to Bhairava Shiva’s left palm. KAPALIKA: It is also a sin to kill a Brahmin as this is Brahmahatya or brahamnicide. To expatiate the sin of brahmahatya, Shiva as Bhikshatana, had to perform the vow of a kapali, wondering as a naked beggar with the skull as the begging bowl. He wanders the three worlds begging from door to door accompanied by bhutas. Here again women are attracted to Bhikshatana despite his appearance, singing and dancing. He finally reaches the Daruka forest. There he shocked the sages with his ‘lewdness and nudity’ and also tempts the sage’s wives. But Bhikshatana-Shiva made them realize his greatness after they confronted them. There are various other plots related to his wanderings. After the Daruka forest encounters, Bhikshatana reaches Vishnu’s abode. The gatekeeper, Vishvaksena refuses entry. He is killed and the corpse is impaled on Shiva’s Trishul. This is an additional sin. Kankala Murti is the form of Siva with a corpse on the Trishula. He enters Vishnu’s abode to beg for food, where one version states that Vishnu offered his own blood. The other version is Vishnu cutting an artery on Bhikshatana’s forehead and a stream of blood spurting into the begging bowl. Vishnu then directed Bhikshatana to make a sacred trip to Varanasi to expatiate his sin. At Varanasi, Brahma’s skull falls off Bhikshatana at a place called Kapala-mochana. It means ‘liberating from the skull’ and Vishaksena’s corpse also disappears from the Trishula but he is revived to life by Shiva. Now Bhikshatana enters the sacred ponds of Varanasi. He then casts off the Bhikshatana form to return to Kailash. KAPALESHVARA: This legend in the Skanda Purana narrates that Bhikshatana appears as a naked, fierce Kapali beggar. In a sacrifice hosted by Brahma, Bhikshatana appears and begs for food. He is driven away by Brahmin because they find a begger unfit to attend sacrificial rites. Bhikshatana throws his skull begging bowl on the ground and the brhmins throw it out. But other skulls appear in its place. Consequently hundreds of skulls appear and pollute the sacrifice. This compels Brahma to promise that no sacrifice would be complete without invocation to Kapalshvara-Shiva, the Lord of the Skulls. Yogi Ananda Saraswathi

KAAL BHAIRAV, AN INSIGHT.
Lord Bhairav or Kaal Bhairav, is a fierce incarnation of Lord Shiva. The term Bhairava means “Terrific”. He is often depicted with frowning, angry eyes and sharp, tiger’s teeth and flaming hair, stark naked except for garlands of skulls and a coiled snake about his neck.
In his four hands he carries a noose, trident, drum, and skull. He is often shown accompanied by a dog. Lord bhairav’s worship is very useful to win over your enemies, success and all materialistic comforts. He guards the Lord Shiva temple, due to which He is called “Kotwal” also.
Batuk Bharav is the most worshipped form of Bhairav in tantra.
भय का हरण करे, वह भैरव – भयहरणं च भैरव:।
Lord Bhairav protects, removes all obstacles, cleans the soul with his sheer intensity and makes things favourable for a sadhak. He is one of the most feared deities, but actually, he is one of the most rewarding. The vahana (vehicle) of Lord Bhairava is the dog. Dogs (particularly black dogs) were often considered the most appropriate form of sacrifice to Bhairava, and he is sometimes shown as holding a severed human head, with a dog waiting at one side, in order to catch the blood from the head. Feeding and taking care of dogs is another way of showing our devotion to Lord Bhairava.
Once Brahma insulted Lord Shiva and his fifth head teasingly laughed at Lord Shiva. From Lord Shiva came out the Kalabhairava (Black Bhairava) who tore off the fifth head of Lord Brahma. On the entreaties of Lord Vishnu, Shiva pardoned Lord Brahma. But the sin of beheading Lord Brahma followed Kalabhairava everywhere. Also the head of Brahma stuck to him.
To keep away the sin and punishment which were chasing him, Kalabhairava entered the city of Benaras ( now Varanasi). The sin could not enter the city. A pilgrimage to Kasi (Benares) is not supposed to be complete without visiting the temple of Kalabhairava.
Lord Bhairava is also known as Kshetrapalaka, the guardian of the temple. In honor of this, keys to the temple are ceremonially submitted to Lord Bhairava at temple closing time and are received from him at opening time. Lord Bhairava is also the guardian of travellers.
There’s a shrine for Lord Kaal Bhairava in most Shiva temples. The Bhairava shrine in the Arunachala temple is very special. The Kaal Bhairava temple in Kashi (Varanasi) & Ujjain is a must see for Bhairava devotees.
1 Hindusim : Why Worship Bhairavnath
Bhairava, sometimes known as Kala Bhairava, is a Hindu deity, a fierce manifestation of Shiva associated with annihilation. He is often depicted with frowning, angry eyes and sharp, tiger's teeth and flaming hair; stark naked except for garlands of skulls and a coiled snake about his neck.
2 Imortance Across World
In his four hands he carries a noose, trident, drum, and skull. He is often shown accompanied by a dog. He originated in Hindu mythology and is sacred to Hindus, Buddhists and Jains alike. He is worshipped in Nepal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand.
3 Legends
The origin of Bhairava can be traced to a conversation between Brahma and Vishnu recounted in the Shiv Mahapuran, in which Vishnu inquired of Brahma, "Who is the supreme creator of the Universe?". And arrogantly, Brahma told Vishnu to worship him as Supreme Creator.
4 Brahma versus Shiva
One day Brahma thought, "I have five heads, Shiva also has five heads. I can do everything that Shiva does and therefore I am Shiva". Brahma had become a little egotistic. Not only had he became egotistic, he started to forge the work of Shiva. Brahma started interfering in what Shiva was supposed to do.
5 Shiva’s Role
A furious Mahadeva (Shiva) threw a small nail from His finger, which assumed the form of Kala Bhairava, and casually went to cut the fifth head of Brahma. Brahma Kapala in the hands of Kala Bhairava symbolizes destruction of Brahma’s ego.
6 Temples of Bhairava
In the form of the Kaala Bhairava, Shiva is said to be guarding each of these Shaktipeeths. Each Shaktipeeth temple is accompanied by a temple dedicated to Bhairava.
7 Shri Kaal Bhairav in Ujjain
You may find it astonishing and unbelievable but there is a temple of Shri Kaal Bhairav in Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh State of India where liqueur is offered as ‘chadhava’ (offerings).
8 Hundreds of Followers
This is one of the most active and happening temple in the Ujjain city. Daily, hundreds of people come over here with faith and reverence to offer Liquor to the God.
9You will have to see this to believe this
The interesting thing about this temple is that the God is offered liquor unlike other temples to invoke divine blessings. Small and big liquor bottles and other puja items are available outside the temple and devotees buy it and offer to god.
10The ritual
This temple ritual starts with the devotee buying a bottle of wine or hard liquor like rum or whisky and presenting to the deity. The bottle is handed over to the priest along with other puja material. The priest opens the bottle and put half of the contents into a shallow plate which is placed near the mouth of the idol . Slowly, the liqueur level starts going down and the Priest takes back the plate when all the liquor is finished. The contents of the plate disappears in front of your eyes. It may sound unbelievable, but it is true……
11Parsadam
The left over in the bottle is given back as prasad to the pilgrims. It is a wonder, where does the alcohol gulped by the lord goes. Probably, this is the only God, to whom alcohol is offered in the temple. The flowers and other pooja items are also offered.
12 Hundreds of Bottles
Hundreds of bottles are devoted to the deity in a day on festive seasons. No one knows where does this hundreds of bottles of liquor goes but it has been happening since ages, as this temple is hundreds of years old.
13 Shipra River
The worship of the eight Bhairavas is a part of Shaivite tradition worship and the chief among them is Kaal Bhairava. This temple is believed to have been built by King Bhadresen in older times on the banks of the Shipra River.
14 Avanti Khanda
There is mention of a Kaal Bhairva temple in the Avanti Khanda of the Skanda Purana also, which is a text thousands of years old. Worship of Kaal Bhairava is believed to have been a part of the Kapalika and Aghora sects in Indian practiced religion.
15 Malwa Style
City of Ujjain has been a prominent centre of these two sects. Beautiful paintings in the Malwa style of Indian Tradition once decorated the temple walls, some traces of which are visible still today in the Temple.
16 Mircale?
What would you say about this type of Miracle where god’s idol drinks what you offer him? May be God wants to show his presence in the world where Tipplers are on the rise and to have faith in God among all those people who are very very fond of Liquor .
Curtesy Speaking Tree.
