hi qt! i was wondering if you have any tips on getting a summer job? like a how to guide to searching and applying haha

So this is 4 months late, but here are a few tips:

Figure out your transportation situation. This seems trivial, but is actually really important. Do you have a car? Will you be limited in your hours if you have to drive? Can you use public transportation? My first few jobs were easily walkable/drivable. Work can be stressful and the last thing you need is to have to worry about getting to and from there.

Decide what you’re looking for. If this is your first job, and depending on your age and experience, you may be looking for different things. Are you okay working in retail or at a restaurant? My first job was as an ice cream scooper. Or do you want to do something else like working at a summer camp, customer service, etc.? Find a couple job ideas that you think you’ll qualify for.

Check places near you. Print out your resume if you have one (if not, that’s alright; I recommend you try to put one together using a counselor at school or career services if you’re in college, and here’s my resume tag) and go around local businesses. See if you can chat with the owner or manager and ask if there is an application you can fill out. Advice from personal experience: I made the mistake once of going to a very fancy restaurant in jean shorts and a Hogwarts t-shirt and asking for an application. They clearly judged me and I never heard back. Although I didn’t want to work at a hoity toity snobby job, I do recommend dressing relatively nicely; first impressions count. A simple business casual blouse/shirt, black pants, and flats should do the job - nothing fancy, but not my Converse and jeans aesthetic.

IMPORTANT: If this is a summer job, you must ask up front if they are okay with you working just the summer. Can you offer work on breaks as well? That might be a plus for them. A lot of businesses may hesitate to hire young people just for the summer, but some of them look for that, especially if they’re a seasonal business (e.g. an ice cream or beach shop) or looking for supplemental employees (e.g. my preschool has summer floaters).

Look online. Depending on what you’re looking for, you can try Craigslist. I’ve never used job-finding websites like Indeed but I know some people use those. I’ve never actually found a summer job online so I’m not super helpful there.

In complete honesty? Chores and sleep. I hate going to class when it is raining and it makes me feel crappy so it is hard for me to do school work or focus.

hello lovely!! i hope ur having a good day too~ the last book i (partially) read was the versions of us, by laura barnett! the last film i watched was shrek 2 fml my flatmates insisted on watching it after i made them watch mulan, my fave disney film of all time, and i wanted to die bc they said they liked it more than mulan 😭😭😭😭 the last series i (re)watched was parks and rec - i’m currently rewatching season 4 and im thriving 🙌🏼and the last song i listened to was 11:11 by taeyeon!

Korean stereotypes of Koreans

This is a post requested by @hailstudies​! Sorry for taking 100000 years :(

There are a few rude stereotypes that you don’t need to know unless you plan on insulting people from that region so I haven’t included those!

Make sure to check out Regions in Korea to find out the provinces and cities that belong in each of the areas!

경기도 (Gyeonggi-do)-  Because this is near where Seoul is and where the “cities” are, there are a lot of people from other regions and there isn’t actually a clear stereotype for them.

강원도 (Gangwon-do)- Gangwon-do is mountainous so it’s stereotyped that they are strong and manly but this isn’t a popular stereotype.

충청도 (Chungcheong-do)- Because of their satoori and the way they act and their “vibe”, its stereotyped that people fron Chungceong-do aren’t blunt/honest, and very slow due to their satoori sounding dragged (e.g. soooooo instead of so)

전라도 (Jeolla-do)- Because they have amazing food, its stereotyped that everyone is a great cook! Jeolla-do also has a long history of being invaded, so its stereotyped that they tend to stick with each other and are distant with foreigners and people that aren’t like them.

부산광역시 (Busan)- Since Busan is near the coast, they must all love seafood and the beach

경상도 (Gyeongsang-do)- Because of their satoori and its tone, etc, People from Geyongsang-do are stereotyped as tough, and people that don’t show emotion or aegyo, etc. They’re also stereotyped as blunt, willing to fight any enemies but also your ride or die (very loyal)!

제주도 (Jeju Island)- Because of their satoori, it’s often jokingly said that Jeju is a different country!

Hi everyone, I’ve quite recently joined the studyblr community and wanted to make an introductory post just so you can all get to know me!

Reason I think this is quite similar to everyone else in that I simply find it difficult to sit down and start studying, and being a visual learner, and with my AS exams coming up veeeeeery soon (eek) I thought it would be a good idea to start a studyblr just to see content from other students and push myself that little bit harder!

About Me My name is Beth (as you might have been able to tell) I’m seventeen years old and I’ve lived in Ireland all my life. I’m currently in year 13 which means I’m doing my first year of A-levels and have 1 year left of school after that! (yippee!!!) I spend a lot of time watching old films, reading my horoscope and drinking literally any hot drink I can get my hands on!

Subjects I study English Literature, Geography and Religion for A-level and for GCSE I did these and additionally, Maths, Science, Business, Spanish, French and photography! Although my knowledge may be limited and I am in no way an expert in these fields I would be happy to help/give any tips/resources to anyone where I can!
