 haha the son you created to uplift yourself will destroy your name!, hey the last name bashir is very lovely! and theres certainly other bashirs out there. but its the principle of the thing, in this family? it ends with julian, (also so many issues woulda been solved by the bashirs just having another child. good lord), anyways im very fond of julian and garak becoming parents, and i think they'd be good at it. and certainly the bar thats set is pretty fucking low, oh this is also a fuck you to tain. like his name doesnt continue. it's the housekeeper that he knocked up. the dirty little secret, the bastard child you turned into a weapon instead of a son. thats the name that lives on, this is also part of why i think garak prefers being called garak than elim, honoring his mother and subverting cardassian familial values, he's a literal bastard and he's wear it with pride, btw i don't think either julian or garak are consciously aware of what im talking about
