This is an electrifying neurofunk EP from an incredible young artist who is willing to break the boundaries of the genre. I had only heard about gyrofield through their song "Femme Fatale" and was curious about their style. Skimming through their discography, I found such a diverse blend within the drum and bass spectrum. Released via Noisia's VISION Recordings, gyrofield takes the structures used by her predecessors and innovates upon them. They place less emphasis on the "drop" and instead focus more on the compositions as a whole. The drums are light and skittering, the bass rolls and growls, and the synths and vocal chops are layered and constantly morphing. Stimulus is an exciting record and shows the immense potential that gyrofield carries.
