what do you mean 'high on the horse'? english isn't my first language and i'm not too well versed in gymspeak, could you explain?

Sure, so when a gymnast is high on the horse it means they didn’t hit the vaulting table at an angle that allowed them to get a lot of propulsion upwards. In other words, they were so far above the horse in the back handspring phase that they didn’t make effective contact with the horse to push them UP in the repulsion phase. If you’re too high on the vaulting horse you basically just touch it as you go over rather than hitting it with enough force to propel yourself upwards. Mustafina usually makes great contact with the horse - she hits it “low” i.e. her back handspring goes directly into the horse, not up, and she pops upwards as she blocks - but on the most recent one she was high on the horse i.e. her back handspring went UP which gave her less leverage to gain height from her block. I hope this made sense!
