Translation notes:

Have Japanese to English translators just been choosing pronouns/subjects based on vibes because. LOL

The last chorus-like thing at the end there doesn't specify any subjects so I made a couple assumptions which are:

1. The person that is "singing a song about today to reach someone somewhere" is almost positively the singer of this song, and

2. With context from the rest of the song I decided that the people praying and painting are separate entities from the person singing the song.

I'm not sure if things like this even warrant a translation note since it's just like a part of translating a subjectless language into a language that almost always needs a subject. But now you all know anyway.

Chapter 1: Yell It Out yet Keep it In [24: A Body’s Been Discovered!]

I don’t know how long I stood there screaming. I could have gone on like that for hours, and I feel like I did. But it must have only been moments. Moments that just turned into hours as I tried and failed to understand the cruel reality placed in front of me. The reality...that one of my friends was dead.

What finally snapped me out of it was the sound of someone coming running.

“Kas, what is the matter? I heard—“

“GYAAAAAAAHHH!”

“Hey, what is transpiring in...here..?”

“OH MY GOOOOOD!”

DING-DONG! BING-BONG!

“Fiiiinally! Looks like someone fiiiinally snapped I’ve been waiting so long to say this!”

“A body has been discovered! After a certain amount of time, where you can do whatever you want, the class trial will begin!”

“A b-b-body? But...But..!”

The sound of running got closer as everyone came dashing into the room. It took a moment for all the screaming and panic to settle.

“Oh god! Oh god, she’s really dead!”

“Who did this? Who’s responsible?!”

“...huh?”

“A-Are we all going to die..?”

“God, will you all shut up already? You heard the damn announcement, right? We have to investigate for the trial.”

“Gary thinks you’re weirdly calm.”

“Who cares. y’all? Mei’s dead! Can ya fight later?!”

“She...is dead...huh..?”

I didn’t want to accept it at all but...she had to be. This wasn’t some cruel joke or a misunderstanding or anything. She was really dead and we had to find out who did this.
