my dragon age protags on the mage/templar debate
Kara Brosca (rogue): “I don’t think I understand the situation enough to really have an opinion, but I know all about being judged just for being born a certain way. I’ve heard that some Circles are nice, but I will never support a Circle that hurts their mages.”
Finnvara Mahariel (rogue): “The Dalish are proof enough that there’s no need to imprison mages. We teach them our ways and the clans are all the safer. I couldn’t imagine growing up without a Keeper’s guidance and protection.”
Garrett Hawke (rogue): “Some non-mages turn to murder and rape. We don’t imprison all non-mages for it. Why should we treat mages any differently, just because some turn to blood magic and demons? Mages deserve freedom, end of story.”
Marian Hawke (mage): “I do think mages pose a certain inherent risk to society, but I don’t think the Chantry’s system works. The knowledge and education are good, but stealing children from their families? What about all the stories of abuse at templar hands? There must be a better way.”
Sataareth Adaar (warrior): “I’m not a mage and I’ve not been to any of the Circles, but the idea of a Circle makes sense to me. However, I don’t agree with the rampant fear and distrust of mages. They deserve respect and a comfortable place to hone their talents, not a prison.”
Gwenneth Lavellan (mage): “I’m a mage among the Dalish. Whatever stories I’ve heard, I’ve never witnessed any of my people become abominations. The Circle should be destroyed, and the shemlens could learn a thing or two about how we educate our mages.”

apparently when i make elves, they’re either “distrustful but secretly a nice person” OR “who put this jackass in charge”
