A little personal project to visualise some dragon age origin kids alongside their parents.
If you noticed the difference in quality that would be because I made them months apart of each other. And on different canvas sizes. Because consistency is dead I guess.
More on the kids themselves below the cut: (it is just me yapping about my blorbo's)
Firstly there is my oc kid Duncan Bryce Theirin, son of King Alistair and Queen Gwendelyn Cousland.
Gwen isn't a warden in my canon, nor did she romance Alistair. Instead she is romantically involved with my Surana (also a non-warden). Alistair and Gwendolyn are great friends though, and they got necessarily involved enough to have an heir, a son they both love dearly.
Duncan would be born a year or so after Origins, in 9:32 dragon. Being the only heir to the throne resulted in being raised somewhat sheltered for his safety. He's a curious kid but ultimately shy, though he's well trained enough by his tutors to be able to put up a front of confidence in court. While trained as a warrior like his father, Duncan prefers the bow, he also enjoys horseback riding.
Kieran Adai Tabris is my own spin on canon-kieran. The son of Morrigan and the Hero of Ferelden, Dane Tabris. Born with the soul of an Old God. He is a mage and shapeshifter.
I refuse to believe a Morrigan that had a very good relationship with a non-romanced warden would not at least let him meet his own child. So Dane, while not responsible for fully raising him, spends a good amount of time with Kieran throughout his son's life.
As a child this Kieran still says equally weird shit as canon-OGB Kieran, except this one does it at high volumes. Can be seen playing swords or running around on his own two legs when he isn't doing so in animal form (his favored shape is that of a mabari).
As an adult, Kieran will identify as agender. Going by he/they/it pronouns, and begins identifying with the 'Witch of the Wilds' moniker that its mother is also labeled as.

hellooooooooooooo i realized i have never done like a full list of my ocs. so here it is
amma theylin: dark elf rogue, chaotic neutral (leans evil), dual-wielding swords and ranged bow, proficient in being sneaky and being hot. tragic backstory is she became infatuated with a guy who was trying really hard to be lawful good and when he dropped the ball on their coup d'état plot she killed him and ran. will do literally anything if it pays well enough. played her in dnd, bg3 and elder scrolls.
lady gwendolyn viridience morrigan, druidess, esq.: half-elf druid, usually chaotic good, majored in botany, minored in ethically questionable usage of charm spells. tends a greenhouse that holds a portal to the feywild, the stewardship of which she was bequeathed by a very powerful archwizard and mentor and good friend, on his deathbed. she never wanted it but the choice was between her and her evil sister/s so the archwizard gave it gwen. now she uses it to (1) be the best damn florist in neverwinter (2) howl's moving castle her way away from bad fantasy tinder dates because she's a hopeless romantic and terrified of commitment. played her in dnd and bg3.
samson o'dare: human/aasimar paladin, true good, big sword and bigger shield, great with animals, has wings like a mourning dove. he worshiped chauntea as a child and then one day lathander appeared to him in the middle of a field and told him it was his holy holy duty to be a paladin of light. samson was like hell yeah i want a sword. and began adventuring. adventuring quickly proved to be far more unpleasant than he had expected and he prays to chauntea every day like "mom i'm scared come pick me up". played him in dnd and bg3.
nol barrow-bound: undead death cleric, ??? (she is extremely impressionable), sickle and staff/half-caster, uses a human skull as an arcane focus and has 1 million holy symbols on her person. used to be a hag's apprentice and then she woke up on the side of the road one day and was just like, "guess i'm an entrepreneur now". gifted alchemist, even more gifted necromancer, makes her living as an herbalist and medium, lowkey cheats on the medium part because she just tells people what they want to hear (or at least what she thinks they want to hear) but she doesn't see it as cheating because she IS contacting the dead she just isn't letting them be RUDE. collects roadkill. also kind of looks like roadkill. one time i thought "haha what if nol and samson were in an adventuring party together" and now they're tragedy-to-romance endgame lovers. played her in dnd and skyrim. she's usually my go-to for dnd oneshots :')
sigg solveig/sigourney gevaudan: human (? she's huge, there's no way she's fully human)/werewolf barbarian, will change her entire ethos if a hot girl says so, sword/axe/hammer so big it is physically impossible for people other than her to wield. tragic backstory is she contracted lycanthropy at a young age and wound up killing her familar. she went into hiding and became a fighter, a laborer, a soldier, whatever put food on her table, but eventually her lycanthropic bloodlust got hard to control and she became a hermit rather than risk killing her loved ones again. she is not smart or wise or especially clever but why would she need to be when she can crush someone's head with one hand. womanizer but her deepest wish is to get married and be a stay-at-home mom baking for her wife every day. played her in pathfinder and skyrim.
princess daisychain frances van pancypants iii: goblin, class variable but generally support/healing, true good. looks like an albino bat. raised by halflings. the sweetest, nicest, tiniest magical girl you will ever meet. completely filled with love. knows one (1) swear word. played her in dnd.
arkhemites "miette" du bäl: tiefling warlock, something evil but might go on a hero's journey idk, worships whatever tentacled space monster is native to the setting. wants to plunge the world into entropy so it can be born anew. she's noble or royal but has like 16 sisters and most of them are older. played her in starfinder.

Random Fun Facts About The Something Wicked Cast:
1. Gwen lacks an ability to cook due to never really having to growing up (her family is absolutely filthy rich) and even when she runs away from home, she doesn’t really attempt to learn because it’s not as important as other things on her list. But she can at least make a salad with questionable knife cuts
2. Beau’s favorite band is Fleetwood Mac and he often blasts it in his room so he can dance around. His favorite song from the band is either Songbird or Second Hand News (maybe just the album Rumours in general)
3. As a child, Gwendolyn’s dad (Theseus) nicknamed her “Morrigan” after the The Mórrigan, a warrior-queen goddess in Irish mythology. She’s most closely associated with war and fate, but also with animals and nature (particularly livestock). The latter is why Gwen was nicknamed “Morrigan”
4. Growing up, Beau was short with a slight frame but later hit a major “unnatural” growth spurt in his early teens. He’s now 6’4” and his frame is now more gangly than slight
5. Gwen is allergic to cashews, which is odd because she isn’t allergic to other tree nuts, just cashews
6. Beau and his mother have a shared love of photography. While hers is more darker and focused on seeing the ugly sides of beautiful things, Beau focuses more on nature; birds in particular
7. Beau is left handed and Gwen is right handed, which means they can hold hands while writing things down (an ultimate couple goal)
8. Gwen and Beau are both fluent in French, though Beau is slightly better than Gwen (she hates it) because his mother is from France
9. Beau is terribly protective of Gwen, not because he doesn’t think she can’t protect herself (because she totally can), because he feels that she makes reckless decisions when under stress/pressure without thinking them through and that worries him. He nearly lost her once and he won’t let it happen again
10. Gwen has a Maine Coon cat named Mauler, whom she takes with her when she runs away. Beau can’t stand Mauler, he considers him tied for first place of his worst enemy. Gwen later takes in a Leonberger (my 2nd favorite dog breed) that she names Faramond “Fara”, which means “protector of journeys”
11. Beau suffers from undiagnosed bipolar disorder and sometimes he can’t tell if it’s his magic or his mind that makes him act the way he does sometimes
12. Gwen and Beau met when Gwen ran away from home and happened to meet him while he was on a morning run and went past the cabin she had rented (under a fake identity and money gifted to her by a family member *cough* Uncle Macon *cough*) and she started getting up earlier just to talk to him
(+bonus)
13. Gwen and Beau are a semi-slow burn, strangers to friends to lovers relationship who later end up having to deal with a magical curse
A MAGICAL CURSE
not the Thomas growth spurt
I LOVE THE WEITING AND HOLDING HANDS

˛ ⠀ * ⠀ 。゜ ✻ ⠀ 、 ⠀   about.
˛ ⠀ * ⠀ 。゜ ✻ ⠀ 、 ⠀   trivia.

Names for Witches
An updated version of an earlier list! Good and evil witches alike:
Acrasia: A witch in The Faerie Queene who tempts and bewitches people, controlling their minds. Means "lacking command."
Agatha: Means "good." A disproportionately common name for witches in media, including the Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast, Aggie Prenderghast from ParaNorman, and Aggie Cromwell from Halloweentown.
Aglaonice: A Thessalian witch from the writings of Plutarch, who could draw the moon down from the sky (probably referring to an eclipse). She might just have been an astronomer!
Akantha: A Greek name meaning "thorn."

And, because I don’t want to neglect the men, here’s a few for male witches (I haven’t been able to find nearly as many!):

Gwendolyne Cousland, a summary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sweet and shy youngest daughter of Bryce and Eleanor Cousland was trained for battle alongside her eldest brother, Fergus. She protested at first, but eventually couldn't deny the benefits of it as she aged. How sad it was that it would come of use. The first time she ever raised her blade to another was when Arl Howe's men laid siege to her castle. No matter how much she swung her sword or how much she blood she spilled, it wasn't enough to save her parents. Wracked with grief, she had to be conscripted into the Grey Wardens and forced to join against her will. Before long, Duncan was dead too, leaving Gwendolyne alone with Alistair to raise up an army and end the Blight. Despite her protests, she would lead the charge, unite the armies, and defeat the Archdemon, escaping with her life.
Story choices:
Origin:
Sleeps with Dairren.
Is conscripted into the Wardens.
Flemeth's Hut:
Gladly takes Morrigan with.
Lothering:
Recruits Leliana and Sten.
Honnleath:
Recruits Shale.
Circle Tower:
Sides with the mages, declaring all blood mages have been cleared.
Recruits Wynne.
Brecilian Forest:
Helps reach a compromise between the Elves and the Werewolves.
Orzammar:
Recruits Oghren.
Destroys the Anvil of the Void.
Places Prince Bhelen Aeducan on the throne.
Redcliffe Village:
Leaves Jowan alive.
Involves the Circle of Magi to free Connor.
Urn of Sacred Ashes:
Does not defile the ashes.
Does not kill Brother Genitivi.
Rescuing Anora:
Gets captured with Alistair rescuing Anora.
Breaks out of prison instead of waiting for Arl Eamon.
Elven Alienage:
Saves the captives and kills Caladrius.
Landsmeet:
Anora rules.
Loghain is executed.
Eve of the Final Battle:
Morrigan does the Ritual with Alistair.
Final Battle:
Gwendolyne lands the final blow and lives.
Stats:
It is always Gwendolyne. Gwen is reserved for close friends / partners.
Gwendolyne is a sword and shield warrior with no specialty.
She is quite mild mannered despite her proficiency with a sword. This often comes at her own detriment.
Her typical party includes herself, Morrigan, Alistair, and Leliana. Sometimes, she'll trade Alistair for Shale or Leliana for Zevran, but not often.
She romances Leliana during the events of the game. I will not force ship anyone who writes Leliana.
After the Blight is over, Gwendolyne returns to Highever with her brother, Fergus. She does not marry, instead choosing to travel the world with Leliana. Eventually, she leaves, going in search of a cure from the Blight. She plans to stay with her after it she cures herself from the taint.
In verses outside of her canon verse, she keeps the same origin story. A more detailed verses page will come.

Ok, so, been thinking about both the human AU and DnD AU in regards to Lilith (and Eda) as mothers, compared to Gwendolyn.
In the human AU, Gwendolyn and her husband were absent for quite a bit of their daughters’ childhoods, missing out on most of their teenage years and leaving much of the duty of raising the girls to Morrigan, who is Gwendolyn’s mother.
In the DnD AU, their parents were once again absent but Lilith has a very vivid memory of being left with Morrigan while Gwendolyn and Eda went on to search for a “cure” to Eda’s lycanthropy. Eventually, Eda ends up with Morrigan as well and the sisters are reunited while Gwen continues to search for a cure.
However, that’s not the focus of this little spiel.
Lilith and Eda both were affected differently by their mother’s actions and it shows in how they parent their respective children.
For Lilith, she wants to shower Aislinn with love and affection, giving her the attention that Lilith herself had so desperately craved as a child. While Lilith had been left desperate for attention and recognition, she gives her daughter exactly what she had craved.
As for Eda, she wants Luz to feel like she has the agency to choose what she wants to be. Eda felt deprived of her agency and freedom, constantly being coddled and watched, told that there was something about her that needed to be “cured.” And with Luz, she sees a lot of herself- someone that society views as weird and needs to change in order to fit in.
