Welcome back GWD fam with the last episode of #GWDLovesNapoli series featuring an incredible company, Kiton. An healthy company that grows double digits year on year on revenue and profit, invests on new markets and has a clear strategy to maintain his elevate position in the mens and womens clothing sector.
Kiton’s motto is “The best of the best, +1” and this clearly depicts how Kiton since 1968 is synonim of passion, elegance and mastery.
Ciro Paone company’s founder, has turned his greatest passion into a vocation, elevating tailoring from a modest artisan craft to an artistic expression: the love for beauty, the love for beautiful garments.
Kiton’s strategy is also about preserving sartorial skills and capabilities, transferring them from the old generations to the new ones. Thus Kiton has launched a strategic bridge to the future, comprised of men and women who will carry forward the story, the style and the secrets of Kiton’s sartorial design. For this reason, every two years, the Kiton training school and haute couture tutors welcome twenty talented youngsters, between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one, who will acquire the knowledge, techniques and passion for sewing a suit that bears the Kiton seal of quality. “Once upon a time you went into a workshop, now you join a course”. Nowadays, Kiton is one of the few remaining companies that rigorously upholds the tradition of Neapolitan haute couture. At the end of the two years, after about 2600 hours of training, of which 1700 practice and theory, the young trainees receive a certificate at a graduation ceremony firmly upheld by the entire Paone family. Of the 18 young people who completed the first course as many as 10 have already entered into the factory, while the remaining few work freelance or with other companies. The aim of this project undertakes the social valence of preparing young people to enter the world of work, ensuring a constant changeover in artisanal manpower. The intent is to make real improvements in society and the economy, convinced that a company must be proactive and is truly able to promote culture and progress.
We want to thank all the Kiton’s employees which warmly welcomed GWD showing us their passionate day-by-day job and helping us to capture those magic feelings and emotions. A special thanks to Kiton’s CEO Antonio DeMatteis who made this happening and to our friend Francesco Fossari CEO of FEFE Glamour Pochette to set it up for us.
Coming to an end we really enjoyed this #GWDLoveNapoli series in many perspectives, from the weather to the people, from the food to the Antosartorial knowledge we could breath all over the journey.

We are almost at the end of GWD Loves Napoli series and today we will talk about Sartoria Formosa, another small taylor shop in the heart of Napoli. We first met Gennaro at his shop dealing with some customers and then he started to tell us the story of Sartoria Formosa, a passionate story of art.
An art that has been handed down from father to son, as in the best traditions. It is the art of Neapolitan tailoring. It is art of Mario Formosa (Gennaro’s Father) Today, as sixty years ago. A tradition that transcends all boundaries, that goes to the heart of people from Mario to Gennaro, today like sixty years ago. Sartoria Formosa is Napoli in the world and it is the Neapolitan tailoring. Year 1951. A premonitory dream. “I will become a tailor.” The dream is realized, shortly. Riding Via Chiaia, the place where it all began, the place where taste and tradition go hand in hand. Mario was 22 years old and a future ahead of him. This passion inside but, above all, his innate art. Naples, Milan and London. This is the tradition that transcends all boundaries, ready to break the barriers of time. Nothing has changed, riding Via Chiaia towards the showroom Sartoria Formosa.
Mario has gone, but his art will never die.
Gennaro Formosa, Mario’s son, is a witness. Even if he chose another path, degree in Economics, director of a pharmaceutical company, then a sudden intuition. “It’s 2005. I become a member of a shirts laboratory, two years later I decided to detect it. “Today Sartoria Formosa is a brand wher mastery of technique and creativity have remained intact, moving with the times. The rest is history. Tailored suits, fine tailored shirts hand-embroidered like the old Neapolitan tradition, are also available in Naples, as in Milan.
Then we had the chance to have a look around the shop and take some pictures. So enjoy this exclusive gallery taken by Charley. Read more here: http://bit.ly/GWDSartoriaFormosa
