He turns, and she is there. Bathed in the golden autumn light, she seems almost to be shining.
For only a moment, time stands still.
Then her eyes meet his, and quickly he looks away, clenching his jaw.
“Come on,” he says. “Let’s go.”
If the memory of that moment would fade as slowly as a photograph, then to him, she will always be shining.
