Do you remember me, mother?
Do you remember when the fleet fell, and the jungle roar pierced our minds? Many trembled, many faltered, but I stood resolute. My duty as warden meant I could not let the call take hold; there were far too many lives in my hands for that. I gave words of comfort, brought the lost back home, and gave a quick end to those too far gone. Grueling work, but I did it gladly.
Do you remember the silence? For weeks after, the dream was chaotic, a swirling vortex of panic and confusion. Everyone had questions and no one had answers. And when the jungle dragon was finally slain, what followed felt like a wasteland. Saplings were afraid to peer into the dream. Their elder siblings were disillusioned. I remained. I had to.
Do you remember where I was sent? A sudden urging pushed me and a small company of valiants to Mount Maelstrom, further from the forest than any of us had ever been. The destroyers were on the move, or so the dream said. We marched, your loyal tin soldiers, confident that the dream would keep us safe. But the dream had changed, hadn't it? You were still so weak after the attack. And yet you sent us out.
Do you remember the names of the fallen?
Did you hear their screams?
Do you know how long I burned, buried in the rubble?
I called out, begged for help, screamed in pain. No one came to my rescue. A footnote in the great dream, to be cataloged and forgotten with the rest. But in the midst of my suffering, I was resolute. I believed in you. I had to.
And then another voice came: primal, indistinct, but getting closer. It spoke of fire and ruin. Promised power. The power to save myself.
As I clawed my way out of the melting rock, I confronted the truth: you never saved me. You left me to die.
I have no need of the dream anymore. No need for siblings or titles or anything green. Magma boils in my veins, waiting to be released. Every moment is pain, my skin is reduced to ash, removing every last trace of what I was before. His voice continues in my ear - powerful, wild, driving me toward one goal.
Do you hear me now, mother?
No matter. You will soon.

11 and 12 for the Commander Asks?
@mystery-salad
ough these are good questions. ty for asking! (this got kinda long and there's also just some general spoilers regarding aurene throughout so I'm putting this under a cut)
11. What is your commander's relationship with Aurene? Do they hold any resentment towards Aurene for leaving?
Azilab is not a crier. He doesn't cry when he's injured. He's not a happy crier. He's not an angry crier. He doesn't express his devastation/loss/sadness through tears. But Aurene brings him to tears all the time. The first time Azilab cried over Aurene was when she named herself and he was the first to know. He was sobbing when Aurene showed up during the fight with Balthazar. Hysterical when Aurene's vision came to pass during the encounter with Kralkatorrik. He was completely inconsolable for like three days after Aurene left.
He's so incredibly honored to be her Champion and works hard to make sure Aurene never regrets choosing him. There's an insecurity there on his end that I don't think he's completely aware of, but it's definitely one of his most potent motivators: do not disappoint this dragon or else she's going to abandon me. Nevertheless, their goals have always aligned perfectly and I like to believe that the two trust each other completely. Their push-and-pull when sharing their abilities during combat are as natural as breathing to them; they're a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Their bond has gone beyond death. He'd do anything for her. His devotion to her is borderline religious. He's completely besotted. "You could be an ancient dragon, Aurene, and I would still come with fish."
As far as Aurene leaving, he struggles. He struggles with not knowing where she is, what she's doing, how she's feeling. He misses her omnipresent warmth at the edges of his consciousness even when they were continents apart. He misses hearing her wind chime voice. The fact that he might not ever see her again destroys him and he tries his best not to think about it. He feels a little bit abandoned and directionless; being sylvari, he's always sort of been tied to a dragon (Mordremoth, then Aurene) and he has no idea what to really do without one. But he can understand why she went away and wishes her nothing but peace, safety, and rest. Somewhere in the back of his mind he wishes that he could've gone with her, but her parting words ring true to him: "Our path is our own" and it's his turn now to figure out what that new path is.
12. Is your commander still on good terms with the Pact and/or their initial Order?
I'm ngl I get jumpscared every time an npc greets me as "Agent/Lightbringer Azilab" and I'm gonna say that Azi does too. Joining an Order seemed like it was entire LIFETIMES ago, but Azilab still operates with a lot of the Order of Whispers' core tenants in mind even if he's not aware of it and doesn't really consider himself a member anymore. He's good at gathering intel and certainly appreciates a stealth mission every now and then.
His relationship with/memories of the Pact are bittersweet at best. He was young, inexperienced, and made a lot of mistakes that cost lives. Some of those early relationships and losses were his most painful (Tybalt, and technically Trahearne later down the line). Though taking down Zhaitan will always be Azilab's first spark of "Oh, I'm meant to do this."
#if we ever have to fight aurene in an upcoming expansion I WILL lose my shit#I think someone has mentioned this before and I wish I could find the post but#it would be fascinating to delve into the lore about the commander being the last dragon champion#we've seen what sort of terror famine destruction and death other champions have wrought#who's to say that the commander and their scion won't end up being corrupted somewhere down the line and doing the same?#how long until tyria sees them as a threat? a possible resurgence of a second dragon cycle?#anyway the commander and aurene destroy me#one of the most video game relationships ever#gw2#azilab#asked and answered#text

Saoirse, Champion of Soul
Regrowth AU vs Flourish AU
Revenant (Vindicator) -> Guardian (Firebrand)
What if one choice could change the world? What if when you looked into the mirror of time, you could not recognize the face on the other side? She could have been the hero. She could have saved the world.
She could have been one of a set of three. But this is not that world.
In one reflection, she would burn as brightly as the flames she wielded, a Guardian, a protector of any who needed her shield and blazing, furious power. Where darkness stirred, she would bring the light. And so she would be chosen by the winding paths of fate, and become so much more than a Champion of the Pale Tree; one day, she would fight alongside Aurene. The light they shared would bring hope to Tyria when all seemed lost. Not even the deepest, darkest nightmare could stand before the shine that comes from within.
Yet, in the other, pain and loss would turn her flames caustic and sharp, fueled by a raw power that not even the finest technology could contain. This would be the Saoirse who knows only how to run-- to charge forward into calamity, and leap from the ashes her choices leave behind. The blades that should bring hope would instead herald a darkness so much greater and more terrible than her. She, too, would be chosen by an Elder Dragon-- for better and for worse. A shining beacon, stifled into the deepest shadow.
Yet no matter her history, one constant remains.
The three will meet again... And they will change the world.
#gw2#guild wars 2#sylvari#my posts#Harbinger Saoirse#Saoirse the Flame#got more poetic than I intended but :3c#I remade my old Gavin character into Saoirse since i literally never used him and they were the same race and profession lol#I had a name change contract and some total makeover kits laying around so i just went for it. so boom there she is!#fun fact: prior to HoT and Mordremoth's influence? Regrowth Saoirse looked exactly the same so yeah#she only changed after the dragon messed with her. never really recovered from the Mordrem corruption oof#she also started as a Guardian in Regrowth but abandoned her magic at the same time she cut off the Dream.#so yeah Flourish is a MAJOR butterfly effect for her lol#she and Ceara are the most changed between the two timelines whereas Pirkko is still fairly recognizable#(Aurene and Vlast ALSO look a lot different but that's a whole other long discussion on how magic changes them)#speaking of which! i have Pirkko made too! i still need to get some good shots of her tho rip#Regrowth AU#Flourish AU

GW2 OC Questions: Combat Edition ⚔️✨
15. How powerful is their magic compared to their peers? How do they feel about it? Is it their limit?
Okay so, in short, Aurelia is not really a proper revenant, but more of a "proto-revenant". Rytlock is still the first proper revenant/herald trained by Glint, while Aurelia failed to complete her training and then got messed up by something in the Mists*, and the way it happened prevents her from reaching full potential. Then she became a dragon's champion, which put her on a whole different level, but it's also not just her own magic anymore.
To elaborate a bit, due to what happened in the Mists, her revenant magic is quite nerfed compared to Rytlock's, especially with how it was unreliable and a bit messy during the first years of having it. To be fair, even then it was still more than the average tyrian could achieve (who can even seemingly summon a crystalline dragon out of the Mists?), but the only really notable thing about it were her impressive self-regenerative abilities, which at least compensated for most of the hits she took while the magic didn't work. Her biggest "nerf" is that she was and still is unable to create portals to the Mists, in the sense that she can do so only on the surface levels, and anything beyond that spits her back out quite unpleasantly. Glint's facet was what had "lended" her the magic in the first place, and she fully believed that was what all she was working with for years. Little did she know that she had gotten better because she had learned how to use revenant magic by herself, but she never realize that until after the facet got shattered when Balthazar killed her, when she still had access to her powers, a bit less focused but just as strong. Granted, the bond with Aurene helped the learning process, aiding her recovery and boosting her abilities while slowly replacing Glint's magic, but even before she hatched the facet was already acting mostly as training wheels/a focus for her to channel the magic through (and filter some leftover corruption).
Rytlock was still technically a better magic user than her, but being a dragon's champion tilted the power scale quite a bit in her favor, as she could channel magic both through their bond and the Mists. On top of what she could do as revenant, the more powerful Aurene became, the more easily Aurelia could manifest forms of crystalline magic (like and beyond what the Dragon Stance can do), and so did Aurelia's skyscale once grown up. She can also become more powerful if Aurene chooses to boost her with her magic directly, as it happens at the end of EoD, and there's no telling if that's still as powerful as she can become now that Aurene is the only Elder Dragon.
Even after all these years, it still feels weird for Aurelia to be a magic user, let alone a good one by any metric. It will never be a 100% good thing for her due to it coming from Glint's failed attempt at training her and all the trauma and pain she suffered because of a mistake she couldn't even comprehend at the time, but at least knowing it now partially comes from Aurene makes it a lot better. With Aurene gone for who knows how long, channeling her magic is bittersweet, but it's a way for her to feel her close no matter where she is.
* bigger ramble about all that (it's a bit vague on some points and 100% up to date)
#oc asks#Aurelia Dragonwings#all in all once you remove Aurene's influence she's not as OP as one would think#the self-healing gives her more stamina and allows her to take a bigger beating than most. but then she hits a limit#and her not resting regularly “because she is not yet tired” for years kinda nerfed that advantage for her. + ignoring her mental health

...jfc I just realized sth on Eir Stegalkin in GW2. Bc of her confident decision what backfired on all bc she had so much confidence in her team she ignored the "Maybe we should rest" comments and blames herself for everything she's acting highkey depressed and just hides it on main.
It's moreso showing on how she focuses on her work ALOT, undervalues her legacy and claims that her best years are over & only helps the Norn village leader in action if it's insisted that much. When she helps, she's willing to do whatever it takes to atone for her sins and undo her mistake on being as confident as Norn ppl seem to be (bc they DID survive the Dragon Corruption and found a new land area bc of their persistence and Animal Spirit Gods and are raised to strive for greatness and show off).
Sometimes she has stupid spontaneous ideas for helping ppl and when they backfire she spirals fr and acts really mf reckless during the said trips, even risking her own life while she's at it. She doesn't want to die bc the dragons need to die first, but she IS doing things what neglect her life survivability and doing serious missions on her own bc of her own rashness & not wanting to burden others.
Eir is both stunning and relatable on this in the core level of "willing to do XYZ if it's needed, even when it comes with a cost on her own health". Jfc she's an icon
#queue line#queue [paper pile]#mun's musings#mun's posts#/i really like eir and how she's not fine & subtly showing that if you analyse her character.#/she's neat :)#/gw2 ramblings bc like sssshhhh that game has been a focus for me for some time#depression mention tw#okay to reblog#/like fr that woman screams 'this bitch is depressed' to me and hasn't been able to cope properly. nobody in the destiny's edge was

a very quick doodle of my main charr, Taistel the Unforgiving, which got me thinking about her and her frozen heart, and how delighted i was to discover the frost legion for the first time
some ramblings underway (its a bit long. whoops!)...
taistel was the second character i ever made on gw2, and was my gateway into the charr themselves. she's a blood legion order of whispers combo, so she's a bloodthirsty warrior with the open nature of a stuck glue jar. i didn't dabble with the idea of her being ice themed until way later, but it seemed to fit her pretty well. the idea of her being like ice, cold and frigid and certainly deadly when you aren't careful around it. the cold is often described as fierce, and blizzards are unruly and unforgiving (much like her name!). it all tied in so well with her.
(an old image. i loved taking pictures of her in frostgorge)
the juxtaposition of her being a guardian sat very well in my head. guardians of course have means to protect, but she isn't protecting others by any means. her selfish, guarded and frankly quite nasty nature shined through all these little tidbits of storytelling that really just told themselves as i played the game. something clearly happened to her that really was so unforgiving that it twisted her deeply, her mentality driven to this state of being constantly on the attack (or in this case, on the defense. haha).
then HoT dropped, and i classed her into a DH, which i still can't quite let go of (im sure firebrand is better in some respects, but boy do i love smacking buttons and doing instant damage)
dragonhunter has a bit of a ring to it. in her story i had so far, she was friends with my main commander and his funny rat-tag group of friends in their in-canon guild known as Vagabond's Trek. now my commander is a sylvari dude, chipper guy who's a bit goofy. Taistel herself isn't easy to win over, but when faced with an idiot who dives into danger head first and comes back with trauma and a funny quip to go with it, it's hard not to want to see him a little safe. my hardened characters can have a soft spot as a treat.
so when the threat of mordremoth comes about... becoming a dragonhunter feels like a direct threat toward the threat itself. its like a command, a promise, a sworn seal of vengeance for corrupting (or, attemtping to corrupt) a friend. ice burns arent common, i dont think, but boy would she burn the jungle to its knees if it came to it. kill the pest and torch its house, so what if the pest is a dragon?
PoF brought its own issues and problems, of course, but man. the icebrood saga. mordremoth and kralk were easy to mash like mincemeat
but jormag would have been a real problem for her.
(i wish i had this permanent infusion in the game ): its so cool)
whipsers and promises of power and glory must be like gold candy for charr. whispers of protection for people you care for would have been exactly what taistel would have wanted to hear. nevermind that her friend had already nearly fallen to corruption, this was different, you see. for her whole life she knew that slithers of ice could cut the skin and make you bleed out, chunks of ice could bludgeon you and leave you concussed...
but jormag's ice could fortify and could protect. what a wonderful change of pace that would be, to go from this ferocious, deadly weapon to the protector she always could have been. an actual, true guardian, one that could live up to the name of the class she picked up as a young cub. well, it would have been perfect! it would have been the perfect path for her to follow. her vision of ideal couldn't have been colder, couldn't have been more perfect. the dragons claws were at her shoulders...
but of course, we all know how that eventually turns out for the other charr, like the unfortunate ryland. its a good job she had people to fall back on when it all fell apart. so much shame she would have felt after that. so many allies she had slain in the process, too. (the cache champs being charr you met along the way still pulls at my heart tbh...)
... but anyway, i just love how some of the stories in this game tell themselves. its easily why ive been playing it for so damn long.

tell me about ro'wynne!
ANON YOUVE MADE MY DAY :D !!!!
You are getting a ramble as a treat and because I love her dearly 😌
Originally Ro was a warcraft oc of mine, she was a night elf Druid that over time got corrupted by N’Zoth via a long process that I won’t go into here but yeah, she had an existence prior to gw2 and she’s the only one of my blorbos so far who has.
In gw2, Ro’wynne is my sylvari firstborn of the Pale Tree. She had an incredibly strong dream connection that lets her basically send feelings and speak to people through the dream. However before she awoke this dream connection was so strong that she unknowingly delved deep enough into the dream that she touched mordremoth, who in turn planted a little seed in her brain that slowly wormed its way into her thoughts until she thought its commands were her own, but it didn’t affect her until later in life.
When she awoke she kept her strong dream connection, and saw herself as the protector of her fellow firstborn. She loved all of them dearly (except Faolain sorry she tried), especially Kahendins, her brother, and Wynne, her unrequited love. As tragedy after tragedy hit the first of the sylvari Ro became increasingly fearful of the world and isolated herself emotionally (she was already very shy and had a hard time communicating unless it was through the dream) becoming a distant and intimidating figure who tirelessly trained to protect the remaining sylvari. She only left the grove a few times in her life pre HoT and all of those times were to rescue sylvari who needed her (the secondborn and Tiachren).
During the attack on the Pale Tree by mordremoth, Ro fled with the other mordrem, influenced by the elder dragon to seek him out. He twisted her into one of her champions, giving her a monstrous form but making sure that she was still recognizable as the once noble protector of the Grove. He also twisted her perception of what was happening, and she believed that by converting sylvari to mordrem she was healing her poor people, and she became known as a formidable enemy to the pact. Using her intense dream connection to overwhelm sylvari and turn them, as well as her new strength and speed made her a force to be reckoned with. She was never killed, and once mordremoth died she fell into a deep hibernation that lasted a year, where her body tried to go back to its old form and heal.
Eventually she woke up in an almost trancelike state and purely on instinct started heading to the grove, by the time she was near populated areas of Caledon she was conscious and began remembering the horrible things she had done, and with her dream connection restored on waking up again, local sylvari could sense a serious distress and found her wandering in the woods. Aife and Niamh came to see if the rumors of their sister being alive were true, and when they found her she begged them for a quick death. Seeing her as Ro’wynne again and not a mordrem, they decided to take her back since she was to weak/upset to hurt them.
Over a long period of time she reunited with all of the firstborn, moved in with her brother Kahendins and made peace with the Pale Tree, and years later she’s in a much better place and helps tend to saplings. She has some rough days physically due to the pain of her awkward mordrem body, but she’s learned to live again and tries her best. Ro’s always been a person who loves deeply but had trouble expressing that, and it took all of that to have her start reaching out more. She’s very sweet and often can be found in the quiet hidden corners of the grove working on anything that keeps her hands busy (she especially enjoys baking making jam, and gardening among them!). She still tries to help out where she can but her role has changed from a fighter to more of a healer with time. She’s my beloved and I love her very much…

A mild-mannered office worker turned magical girl in the fractals. Oumeko was the Captain’s Council’s receptionist when Scarlet and the Aetherblades attacked Lion’s Arch, levelling Oume’s neighborhood and killing her elderly parents in their home. Oume didn’t know what got into her that inspired her to leave a notice on her desk and hunt Mai Trin into the Mists like an animal, but she did, and after she sabotaged the Aetherblades’ Mist engine, she got stuck in unreality right along with them.
Oume has been making her way through thousands of permutations of Tyrian history and her own memories in the wild fractals. At first she looked singlemindedly for a way out, but now, after who knows how many years and loops, she’s become infatuated with Dessa, the voice on the PA system that’s guided and joked with her, maybe the only other real (real?) person in the fractals. Oume doesn’t know if she’s even the original copy of herself anymore, much less if she’d survive an exit to alpha Tyria—if she could even find one. But even if she could, she wouldn’t go without Dessa and Arkk. And the more times Oume resets the fractals to try to save them, the more time and Mist energy she builds up, until the fractals start to recognize Dessa as their purpose and center, and Oumeko as their mad, shortsighted architect.

Her hero complex and teenage delusion of invincibility drove her deep into the jungle, where she rocketed past Faolain, Caithe, Ruka, and Commander Pepiya to claim the egg for herself and the Zephyrite people. In that first moment of psychic contact with the unborn baby Aurene, Dara’s young mind was overwhelmed by raw magic and existential terror, forging an invasive, twisted bond between her and the baby dragon and leaving Dara nonverbal, magic-sensitive, and wilder than before. Reckoning with that trauma and Aurene’s ability to take over Dara’s body took years, but now their closeness is a point of pride, not a cause of horror. Dara is happy to call herself Aurene’s Claw. The copters lost power in the arcane storm, but she kept hers aloft with her air elementalism, which she’d always hidden in the fahrar, and brought herself and her grandmother Tenar Kitewing safely down on the far side of the newly formed Brandscar. Tenar granted her the honorary warband name Kitetail, and they wandered northern Elona together, struggling to survive and find a way back to their Legion, or failing that, a new home & purpose in Elona. The Zephyrites were the answer. When the Zephyr Fleet was able to offer passage back to Ascalon years later, Tenar and her granddaughter, now called Cirrus, refused, having fallen in love with their new people. An arranged marriage was set up with Onasis Ai, a noble of Luxon blood who was in touch with Archemorus. Though they didn’t choose each other, Ai and Genji have become best friends and devoted partners—but are unsure whether pursuing an actual romance is something they want, or just a pressure from their families, class, and the ancient lovers’ voices in their heads.
They’re both lavished and threatened with the court’s attention as a result of their magic, auspicious marriage, and developing combat skills, but they have a secret that threatens their status far more than any previous generation’s unwise investments or misplaced courtly alliances… their very young daughter Himiko has started talking about an imaginary friend she calls the Guard Man, who follows her around wearing old timey armor and dragging his swords along the floor, and gives her the power to petrify her parents with a frustrated wail, and turn small objects into jade.
Urgent pacifist and law-abider, despite having close enough family ties to the Jade Brotherhood that Genji calls Chul-moo “Uncle Park.”

Despite her ethereal beauty and tyrannical-but-nurturing “fairy queen” persona, Hemera has never felt anything except hunger and momentary satisfaction. She learned to Shape other sylvari’s bodies from watching her student Gil at work, and carved out a place for herself high in the Court by offering to change courtiers—either for beauty or efficacy in torture and raids—for favors. Hemera temporarily corrupted in Maguuma, but when Mordremoth fell silent in death, she twisted her body back to a parody of its old shape and started a new Nightmare sect in Siren’s Landing, where she preys on sapling researchers who wander too far from camp. I'm going to take this opportunity to talk about Logan! Yeehaw!
I mained human so I kinda liked Logan. I've always been biased toward him. I didn't necessarily think he'd made the right decision, but I supported his right to make it. Like he said in the Dream-vision of him: you would have made the same choice, any of you, if the one you loved was in danger!
Basically, it was a bad spot all around. Lose-lose situation. He made the most of it. That was my view.
I'm planning a rewrite of Edge of Destiny (someday lol) to make it better + clearer what was going on with Logan + etc.
And I found something: the narrative in the book does not condemn or exalt either decision. Either decision would have been bad, no way around it.
One problem: that's not how books work.
The way the climactic decision-point works is that you make a personal sacrifice for the good, moral quality being extolled by the narrative. If the thing you sacrificed was, itself, considered good by the narrative, there would come a surprise twist that would mean the thing wasn't actually sacrificed, as a "reward" for making the selfless decision to uphold good and moral purity or whatever.
The problem with Logan's story is that neither option was presented as the 'moral, good' option. As Logan was leaving, Eir said "you have to do what is right," but beyond this, no indication is given to Logan which option is morally superior. You can? sorta? infer that of course the main conflict with the dragon is the preferred one. Rytlock and Eir's dialogue after Logan leaves also clarifies this.
But Logan himself was never presented with a clear moral dichotomy; he was merely given the trolley problem, which is bad however you slice it.
I bet Logan would have haters even if he'd stayed; Kryta would have fallen into disarray. The Ministry would have taken power. We'd have Caudecus in charge. Human/charr relations would heat up. We'd have the return of the White Mantle like snap, or else all-out anarchy. Humanity would be toast. Logan would get all the blame from the playerbase.
So in my rewrite of Edge of Destiny, I'm fixing the problem. I'm going to assign a clear moral status to each option, and make it clear where Logan stood on that moral issue when deciding. How did I pick which option was favored?
Easy. I look at the rest of ArenaNet's storytelling. Their centuries of lore and worldbuilding. The lessons of the other story arcs. Anet's message is consistently unity. Stand together. Stand strong. The races stand unified. The Orders stand unified. With unity, many impossible things [slaying an Elder Dragon] may be achieved.
So the preferred option, the morally good option according to the storytellers, was that Logan stay. Stand with his allies. Represent human/charr unity. Defeat an Elder Dragon.
And, somehow, Queen Jennah would survive, because love and protecting people is not morally bad. If Logan sacrificed the queen for the sake of the moral truth of the narrative, proving his selflessness and commitment to the ideal of the narrative, then the queen would survive to "reward" him for his virtuousness.
It doesn't seem in-character for Anet to write Jennah as a typical damsel-in-distress, hero-gets-the-girl type of story, BUT: he didn't. Logan DIDN'T choose the morally-good option.
Typical Corruption arc: hero begins with the ideal of the story (unity is good), then over time, some negative trait overtakes him. Greed, selfishness, over-protectiveness, whatever - and leads him to destroy everything he holds dear (Destiny's Edge; his broship with Rytlock; Snaff dying; Glint, hero of humanity, dying; Kralkatorrik surviving).
I think if the book had actually written Logan like this (with the base game of GW2 being his redemption arc), he would have a lot less hate. I think a lot of the hate comes from the fact that the Edge of Destiny narrative DIDN'T outright condemn Logan's actions. And even the base game is a bit vague.
Logan didn't get his comeuppance for his bad choices (beyond the queen ditching him a few years down the line, I suppose). That's where the hate comes from.
Because nuanced, flawed characters exist, and those are the best kind. I really like Logan's character. He's one of the most human characters in the game. I like that for him.
(Also, perhaps, some of the hate stems from the assumption that Logan was simping the whole time. I'd be fed up with him too, actually, if that were true. But the queen for sure returned his feelings. Logan was acting within the bounds of an established relationship.)
This has been

Some dragon minion headcanons for Guild Wars 2
(GW2 up to Icebrood Saga spoilers)
---
After Primordus and Jormag die, all the destroyers stop and Icebrood thaw. But the other dragons don't seem to follow this. Why?
My thoughts -
Primordus - Braham un-destroyered after Primordus' death due to the Spirits protecting him and pushed the corruption off him after it stopped having a hold. Destroyers stop since they were just inanimate golems animated by Primordus' magic.
Jormag - Icebrood are potentially a case of Jormag upkeeping a consistent connection to them, due to being the Dragon of Persuasion. And when the dragon dies, that connection severs along with the magical corruption. Potential proof in freezing villages gives Jormag more power, so they are linked to all the minions.
Notable difference with the other 3 dragons:
Zhaitan - Returns life to things that are dead, resurrection. Seemingly does not need to supply magic to upkeep them, only to bring them back.
Mordremoth - Technically only creates new life, until Zhaitan's magic comes into play. New creatures that grow rather than be animated by magic, so that grown life still continues without it.
Kralkatorrik - Brand corrupts more than living creatures, it warps environment too. It's something Kralkatorrik doesn't need to upkeep to have it stay. And is actually his own weakness rather than his strength.

im moody so let me talk about my characters and why i am rewriting them so much
SUPER LONG POST. I mean it.
some of you have been following me for quite a while, some of you are a bit newer to my blog, some of you might be seeing this and be thinking "who the fuck are you" and to answer that question - hi, im eyris and i have perma gw2 brainrot!
well that was not where i was going. where i was going was "some of you have seen what my characters have been through and that i quite often rewrite them"
so today i'd like to talk about that a little bit. why is it happening, for the start.
I guess the best answer would be that i am getting better ideas and i am getting better at articulating them. i am also growing as a person, which also changes how i view my characters and what i want to say with their story. and sometimes i feel like things are cringe because not many people like my stuff. in no way i mean to fish for likes, no, i am contempt with what im getting (most of the time). what i mean is that i still feel like this very small and cringy blog among so many great people who have much bigger following, better stories, better art, better...everything, really. i guess a part of me wishes to catch up to them, be more like them, even if that is...1. impossible and 2. probably very stupid in your eyes.
so there's that. now, let's go over some of my characters and how they've changed across the years.
EYRIS, the main-main, game-wise and story-wise changes.
Eyris was my very first character, initially she had no story. TBF when i started gw2 my english wasn't so good and i was very lost with the game's story. I mean, i thought the Elder Dragons were some big bad organisation! Some people called themselves Dragons, something like this. As I said - my English wasnt very good back than. TBF I was like....15, I think. Yeah. I also somehow convinced myself I had to keep Eyris as a sylvari because other 4 character slots were for other 4 races and i had to keep them free! But I loved playing Eyris! SO! I fucking. I fucking deleted Eyris and made her again. over. and over. and over. and over and over and over and over.
AND THEN I went to a theatre on a school trip and we watched a play and the very handsome actor played a teacher named Mister Ross. I was 16 at a time (I think), so of course I was like "I like that name" and... I deleted Eyris for the final time and remade her as Eyris Ross. I had no idea that sylvari, according to canon, had no surnames. So when the time came when I started designing more lore-compliant story for her, my initial idea was that she was in love with a human and thats how she got her surname but he "died or something" and thats why she was now traversing Orr. I remember writing a scene of Eyris entering a Pact tent with Trahearne conversing with other leaders and she went completely off because she was sent on a suicide mission to scout Arah before going after Zhaitan and only she came back. Yeah. That....was a time. Somewhere in that time I also realised I did not like Ross backstory but I didnt want to delete Eyris again, I grew super attached (also all thjat crafting was developed completely...) so I changed her name to...Eyris of the Night. Because she was a Nightbloom and because someone took "Eyris" and I was sad about it. Still am, tbh. Somewhere then also Anriin came to be. A Priory scholar, quite mean... and she was Eyris's girlfriend who killed her in HoT because Eyris was getting corrupted! So tragic! But I scratched that off because I didn't vibe with it. I think I still have sketches though from that time so if I find them I will post them. I was 19 at the time when Eyris/Anriin was a thing. Then the Soundless plot came in. And then...
I used to have a friend. A best friend, actually. We were a package deal. So of course we bound our stories together. Eyris was just someone who happened to be there. She wasn't the Commander or the Dragon's champion. She was Just Some Plant that happened to be at a place at a time and ended up befriending the Commander (that friend's OC). Then Tragic Backstory TM happened. Eyris was a Soundless who was taken by the Nightmare Court. She was saved by a group of mercenaries (Idk who hired them. don't think too much about it). The group consisted of a young charr gladium (love interest), asura twins (siblings figures) and a norn elder (father figure). there was also a Mean Human Girl TM who bullied her because ???? and there was a drama in the group and the Mean Girl then fucking lured them into a trap (the Undead are attacking!) and everyone fucking died! Eyris survived and Trahearne saved her from the risen. Ever since Eyris hated necromancy (death magic, connection to zhaitan, zhaitan killed her loved ones) and mesmers (the Mean Girl was a mesmer). Eyris tracked her for years and she brutally murdered her in the jungle during HoT (how did the Mean Girl end up in Maguuma in the first place???) but revenge didnt help, it only drew her closer to mordremoth. Also her dog died in HoT (Mordremoth corrupted it and she had to kill it)
And then PoF time. She went to the desert. Why? I don't know. She went there and befriended a wild jackal pack for reasons unknown until today. That's how she got her mount and friend, Aiari. A few years ago Eyris became a Dragon Champion because I wanted to get her to have more story involvement and significance. And some time later I scratched off the Mercenary Group and changed them into Just A Norn Dad plot.
Currently Eyris's story is actually in this google docs right here but recently I had a Big Think and realised that No, the Vigil would NOT be swayed! So... you can take a peek on how it looks for now. Big Thanks to my friend Awerzo who shared her idea of character timelines. I stole it. It helps.
I am pretty sure I forgot some plots that existed for some time hhh
MOVING ON. AIRELL. The second Main.
Remember that friend I mentioned in Eyris's story? Well, Airell was initially created with their Commander in mind as his love interest. It did not fly. OG Airell was a shallow fuckboy that flirted with everything that moved. Then I wanted to add trauma because that's what you do, so Nightmare Court Boyfriend!!! Yeah it... didn't fly.
Then there was "unrequited love for Trahearne" plot, and after HoT Airell shut down and left for the mountains. They were supposed to be alone in their grief and die alone. but my earlier mentioned friend asked if they could make a friend for Airell. I reluctantly agreed. And so, Ewyn Rhosyn came to be. Ewyn and Airell had such a great chemistry that even if me and my friend said "just friends", these two fictional chartacters decided to date. Honestly, one of my fondest memories. I still cannot recreate a similar chemistry that these two characters had and believe me, I TRIED SO HARD.
Anyway, before Ewyn... Airell's grief was accompanied by a wish to forget all the pain they had endured. They set off to find djinn as they heard that the djinn could grant wishes. In hopes they could wish for erasing some painful memories, they looked for them, at the same time growing ravenous. When Airell finally encountered a djinn and learned that djinn magic did not work the waythey hoped for, they succumbed to hunger and ate a poor guy. Airell realised they could satiate their hunger with magic and so they became the ravenous djinn eater. Yeah. No, scratch all that. As much as I liked the concept, as a creator I wanted Airell to be likable, and let's be honest. eating people is not really the way to go, is it? Yeah......soooo then i decided to make them suck magic out of people (without killing them). Djinn eater became Deldrimor's Banshee, then I changed the name to Deldrimor's Siren, since I really liked that scary Fear Not This Night version.
As my friend and I lost touch, I held onto Airell and Ewyn for some time and then ditched it for my own sanity. I really liked the name Thorns and Roses though so I made my own gay rose mender - Achilles Flameshaper, who after losing his healing abilities became a therapist on a remote island for people who needed refuge (Whale Tail Island, or as I like to call it - Therapy Island).
The idea was that after Airell reawakened in the heart of Maguuma after the events of HoT concluded and after they learned of Trahearne's unfortunate fate, they mourned and succumbed to the magic hunger and was looking for the source of that big magic signature (cough balthazar cough), in their vinetooth form (pic below) they met Achilles and Eyris heading to the Commander's wedding. Achilles was just giving her a ride. Achilles and Eyris fought the lost mordrem in order to secure the area. Airell gets hurt, detransforms, oh no it's airell! oh no what do we do! Achilles takes Airell to the Island because clearly Airell is both physically and mentally hurting. While that part remains canon for Airell until today, their big romance with Achilles did not bloom as I planned. but you know what started vibing with me? TRAMMANDER. Because I decided to make Airell the commander from PS until the start of HoT and then reassign the commander-ship to them somewhere in the middle of PoF (thanks Nia Furaha for holding the line from HoT to PoF!). And if Trammander is canon.... then we're back to Trahearne angst. and guys, I needed to rework that too, so...
I added the whole Trahearne resurrection (ritual goes wrong! not clickbait!) idea! I am still SOOO vibing with it pls ask me questions about this im vibrating!!!!!!!
The Ewyn plot in PoF/LWs4 is CRAZY and I would need a separate post for that but I dont have time for that. Instead, let me tell you a fun fact - Airell died 1.5 times. 1 - stabbed during HoT and put in a blighting pod, and 0.5 in LWs4 when they got swallowed by Kralk and everyone thought they died but then kralk threw them up (sorry Airell).
NIA FURAHA
Nia was fun. A nice human commander, initially she was supposed to take the role of a commander after me and my friend stopped talking, but with time i decided to pass that role in majority to Airell.
Initially, Nia had a backstory. Which accidentally came out racist, so I won't be talking much about it. What I can talk about comfortably are her vigil years.
OG Nia joined the Vigil to protect people. She became a commander through recommendation and battle prowess. She was proud to be the commander, the hero of Tyria. But then I was replaying LWs2 and had thoughts. I thought what if Nia joined the Vigil to escape Anise's clutches. What if they wanted to get Nia into Shining Blade and she didn't want that? I had that storyline for some time but I don;'t like the person this makes Nia. She would not survive the dragon war with that motivation. So...I'm reworking her again when it comes to her role as a Pact soldier and Part-Time Commander.
Freya Wyldwolf
Freya has a long story. She started off as Freya Riverblade. Which is funny because I played hammer on her. Reasons? It was her father's hammer. Her father "left for a hunt and never came back" (as in he "died or something". again). Her mother was bitter, tried to get her life back together but with a wrong person and freya got a half sister. Her mother hated that child because we need that plot (insert eyeroll here pls) and Freya got her motivation to join the Vigil (previously she was a Whispers agent but only because I liked Tybalt ok).
But scratch all that. Freya now has a twin, her name is Wyldwolf, and her half sister was not neglected. Her mother was not the mother of the year but she tried. Freya comes from a long line of OG Wolf followers, so theres always "wolf" in the second name of her family. She is from Cragstead and is besties with Braham.
Also in IBS she killed a corrupted Spirit of the Forest (cough reworked boneskinner cough) and her name changed to Freya Spiritkiller, she did not take it well and is currently MIA.
....
There's also Yvrell but I'm not vibing with it right now also this post is super long and i've been typing it for hours so.
Yeah.
Thanks for reading, Bye. Or something. Love you.

early morning rambles for my silly evil gw2 group(s) ocs.... no names yet since theyre still heavy wips but i hope to use these beasties in roleplay too! :]
i wont tag as spoilers since there arent any /lh most of the stuff i'll talk about you can find on the wiki! :]
putting all this under the cut to spare ur guys' dash
nightmare court
* she/her femme sylvari. THEYRE SO BEAUTIFUL TO ME i cant NOT make one...
* prrrobably a necromancer (idk elite spec yet..). instead of feasting on JUST life force, her connection to the nightmare allows her to feed on the fear of those around her. thus i associate her with the soul reaping core specialization! :]
* themed like a wolfsbane plant! a poisonous, beautiful purple color. her accents may be orange and/or green for some nice contrast
* still young for a sylvari; she USED to be a dreamer before she got alien beamed away by nightmare courtiers who wanted to use her budding necromancy to their advantage. promising they'd show her much greater things it was capable of, she decided. huh! okay! :]
* funnily enough she actually isnt like. overtly sadistic or malicious. she WILL deal excruciating pain to others, but moreso because she was told to rather than her actually wanting to hurt anyone... or because she got bored and pain is the only "enriching activity" she knows /lh
sons of svanir
* he/him masc norn... im going in girl-boy-girl-boy order so this one gets to be a dude :]
* former follower of either raven or leopard, but was convinced to join svanir at a pretty young age because he struggled to fit in with other norn... svanir promised him a home: a convincing temptation
* pretty cut and corner svanir (excluding the whole misogyny thing). reveres jormag. he especially feels that jormag is the superior spirit, due to the fact it not only is a WHOLE ASS DRAGON, but it also is tangible. jormag has been seen and wounded and attacked before; the other spirits, while you CAN see them, he finds are incorporeal and therefore just spectres unworthy of the praise they get
* a ranger! i imagine he tames mostly ice wurms, but he also takes in beasts tainted by the ice dragon's corruption. he is surprisingly (to others at least) kind to his beasts, and they fight with a fierce loyalty at his side. idk elite spec yet ... bleehh
* very unnerving, even to other svanir sometimes. he's very quick and trick; like nature, he is a fickle creature and does what he seems to please. and get on his bad side, and you may suddenly find yourself hunted by gleaming eyes in the blinding shiverpeak blizzards.
flame legion
* she/her charr. i just think flame legion ladies are neat :]
* born into flame legion. her father was a powerful shaman, and her mother a gladium who was manipulated by her mate into becoming flame.
* being a lady in flame legion isnt fun to nobody's surprise, so initally she was just Some Guy's Lame Daughter until it was revealed she has elementalist magic... Something her sire was keenly interested in. After much fighting on the matter, she was allowed to practice being a shaman, even being granted an honorary title. (Though nobody. calls her it really)
* AS MENTIONED shes an elementalist! her main and favored attunement is fire (duh /j), but she is impressively powerful and manipulates all elements with relative ease, especially earth alongside fire. water and air are sort of novelties or in a pitch healing elements for her.
* a pretty quiet lady. .... TOO quiet, sometimes. she always appears deep in thought, contemplating something that nobody never really knows. she doesnt speak unless spoken to, and generally is very cagey and guarded.
inquest
* he/him boy rat. RUAGGHHH i need to make more male asura. silly silly guys
* BORN AND RAISED INQUEST 💯💯💯💯 homegrown (literally) by his father, who is councillor yhak! totally no shady reasons behind his making at all :] (yhak wanted to just have a back-up "him" in order to keep his hold on the council)
* a very powerful high clearance guy. probably recognized under the "overseer" or "officer" title?? i'll have to spin my Wheel Of Inquest Ranks and Titles to figure it out /lh EITHER WAY his dad gave him a high rank to get him used to being at the top and abusing power ^.^ if you saw that last part no you didnt.
* his class is. tricky to find out but mainly im thinking he's a mesmer! elite spec probably virtuoso. he can do anything with his mind (STABS YOU WITH PSYCHIC BLADES)
* very Customer Service Pleasant. he's actually a very mean and uptight person but hes surprisingly easy to please if he gets what he wants. very intelligent in terms of politics and like another oc of mine (hi srabba) he wishes to seize the area around the thaumanovas reactor in order to utilize the chaotic energies lurking around...
bandit
* she/her female human (TUMBLEWEED) /J im thinking for she's elonian OR canthan for funsies
* Ok so. imagine this. ex-noble girl. she gets sick of the constant squabbling and formalities of noble duties, and falls in love with a bad boy/girl promising to whisk her away to a better world... 10 days later shes now a bandit and is about to blow up an orphanage. Girl help.
* squints my eye. thief. without a shadow of a doubt this girl is a trained thief. mainly im thinking shes very acrobatic in fighting so shes a daredevil too! :]
* a bit of an awkward girl. shes had to go from Princess Smiles and Waves to "if you mess with me again i'll stab you in the side" so her personality is a little. skewed. but she has a silly humorous personality! enjoys being the life of the party! :]

New 📌-post
Dama, 29, he/him. I've been playing GW2 off and on since mid 2014 (end of LWS1.) I came back December 2022 after finally getting a PC that could handle games again. My main blog is @damazcuz and that's where I'll follow and interact from (so if you see a tiger in your notes. Hi.)
If you ever happen to see me running around feel free to say hi. (NA Server, UN damazcuz.6892) Below is a look at some of my characters!
Main
--Alba Moonseeker, he/him. 13. Commander and bearer of the world's burdens. #alba
Regularly used/Of great plot importance
--Avuncular Bourbon, (Bourbon, real name unknown) he/him. 34. Ex-bandit, ex-aetherblade. (Short stint.) He's joined a few bad groups and bowed out when things got too hot. Raised by dredge in the Shiverpeaks after being abandoned at birth in a mine. Currently working for the commander (sorry about trying to kill you way back in the day! Twice...) #bourbon
--Auruim, he/him. 10-11. Initially a close friend and companion of Alba's, he was quick to volunteer for the Pact to journey into Maguuma, where his Wyld Hunt was to be fulfilled. Corrupted by Mordremoth upon entering the jungle, he rose to become one of his commanders and champions. Years after Mordremoth's defeat, he would be recovered from the jungle by a group of asura researchers; six months later, he would be reintroduced to Alba in Rata Sum, from behind the walls of a cell. Recovered? Sure. Rehabilitated? Maybe. Socialized? No. Polite? Lol. Also currently working for the commander, like it or not. Incredibly traumatized and angry about both sides of the war that he experienced, and feels like he doesn't and never will belong anywhere. With nowhere else to point his hurt, he blames Alba. #auruim
--Aeris Windkin, she/her, occasionally they/them. 12. An early friend of Alba's, she dreamed of a Crystal elder dragon, and believed it to be Kralkatorrik. After great examination of her dream, she stepped out into the world with the idea that her Wyld Hunt would be to slay Kralk. She joined the Priory and dove into studying the brand, trying to find weaknesses to exploit to take down the dragon. She joined the forces at Thunderhead Keep, believing that she would play a hand in ending the war. Upon seeing Aurene for the first time, she was overwhelmed by emotion and thought that this had to be the dragon of which she dreamt before she awoke. But she was slightly wrong again, and realizing this, journeyed into the Crystal Desert for a time. At the end of her long search, she came to understand that Vlast had been her wyld hunt all along, but in the years she'd spent hunting Kralkatorrik, she had never emerged as Vlast's champion, and had missed his death. After months of mourning, she rejoined Alba's entourage and tags along after him on his travels, almost always a few steps behind. #aeris windkin
