What appeals to you about this character?

I love sunshine characters that hide a dark past. Especially ones who have deluded themselves into believing in their innocence despite all the evidence proving they're a monster.

Masuyo providing a person to blame also excites me. It allows Katsumi to further deflect blame, to never ever reflect on his actions or inactions. Masuyo becomes a fall guy. What's your least favorite aspect of this character?

How op I accidentally made him. It makes sense in the context of the story and it can't really be changed. But I'd like to see him fail more.

I actually don't dislike very much about Masuyo. I guess maybe his overprotectiveness can be annoying at times, but that's literally His Thing. It's integral to why he exists, so I can't ever dislike it, even in its worst moments. What's your favorite canon moment with this character?

Uhm when he meets Eiji! It's a very big turning point for his character and I adore their relationship sooo.

I can't really explain Masuyo's without spoiling it, mayhaps one day I'll write more of their story. But nonetheless, Masuyo in general has very good canon moments.

Marine Biologist, the mermay au fic. and also By The Crystal Water, where he meets Eiji.

What's your favorite whump trope to use for this character and why?

Dehumanization by both himself and the people around him :) It's a big portion of his upbringing and what he's supposed to mean in the grand scheme of things.

Like I said, Masuyo is the "fall guy", the trope where someone takes the blame time and time again without being at fault, mwah. Whose relationship with this character is your favorite, shipping or otherwise?

@ha-ule-nalu's Eiji. I'm so glad she agreed to put Eiji in Amant because sure Katsumi works fine on his own, he's a better character when given someone so different to bounce off of and develop with.

Masuyo's deeper relationship to Katsumi is my favourite for him. They just have very different views of each other. Whose relationship with this character is your least favorite?

I need Katsumi to fall prey to his own hubris and lose sight of who he is and realise he is exactly what they say he is.

Any and every time Masuyo can't protect Katsumi. Do you have headcanons for this character, if they're not an OC?

well they're both ocs so there's that! uhh idk before I gave Katsumi a big fuck off katana i originally re-imagined him with a bow. I scraped the bow very quickly.

my headcanon is that Masuyo would be so funny if he had his own body and trailed after Katsumi that way. What would devastate them the most, emotionally speaking?

He doesn't know it, but losing Masuyo would quite literally kill Katsumi. He'd never be able to access himself again, he isn't strong enough alone to keep himself from succumbing.

There are five (5) types of Zeref popular in fanfiction!

*note that this is done in good humor. If you at all consider being a dick and sending me a message, here’s a thought: don’t.

1) Final Boss Zeref. He’s been constantly brought up throughout the fic (canon divergent or AU, typically crime based), but doesn’t show up until the very end. Usually not related to Natsu. Probably kills people for the fun of it. His entire personality is essentially an old school mafia boss, just without the penchant for guns and hookers. Has beef with the Heartfilia’s and likely murdered Layla. Much like in canon, his strength and terribleness has been built up throughout the story, but his actual villain-ness isn’t up to par with expectations. Smirks too much. Has others do his dirty work for him. Probably doesn’t die at the end, just slips into the shadows to wreak havoc another day.

Sometimes included, but not required:

In AUverse he may be a rival of Jude Heartfilia, and (depending on the story), may be used as some sort of catalyst for a Romeo and Juliet esque relationship for nalu.

Zeref may or may not be super important to the plot. Half the time he won’t actually show up.

2) Big Brother Zeref: AKA high school!AU Zeref. Natsu’s brother. His only role in the story is to be the stereotypical older brother. Not important to the plot other than to give life/girl advice to Natsu. Probably dating Mavis. Not as prevalent as the other Zerefs, but he has his moments. Broness can be taken to cringy levels, but generally a decent guy.

3) Woobified Zeref. Is basically canon!Zeref if he had done nothing wrong. A cupcake. Cinnamon roll too good too pure. Perfect father/husband/brother. Sweet summer child. Fanon has thrown up all over him. He is a precious baby that could never do anything bad. Ever. Could drown a small animal in a well and he would be thanked for it. The crigiest Zeref.

Sometimes included, but not required:

Literally isn’t even in fics half the time. This is just what fanon Zeref has become. The fangirls think he’s cute and have to make up excuses for why he can’t do anything wrong.

Actually threatens to murder people, but !!!

4) Well-rounded villain Zeref. Canon divergent. May have a good reason for the bad things he does, but this doesn’t overshadow him being the villain. Is consistent with his motivations/actions. What canon Zeref could have been if Mashima hadn’t wavered back and forth between making him super sympathetic yet also the most evil wizard in existence. Featured in both canon and AUverse fics, though is more common in canonverse.

Is the rare golden Zeref found once in every 100 fanfics, but only if they’re 50+ chapters in length. Good luck finding him.

5) Mostly Canon Zeref. Hyped at the beginning of the story, a constant presence whose motivations are secret. The suspense is amazing and leaves the readers wanting to know more. Isn’t introduced until roughly half-way through the story, but it is very brief. Starts appearing more throughout the story. The more you learn about him, the less you understand the overall plot or his motivations. Kills/hurts people, but this is overlooked because he has a bad past (this is not taken to the extreme of woobified Zeref, however). Has too many connections to other characters to the point it becomes obnoxious. Characterization is inconsistent af

Do you like gray just because he's the Sasuke of Fairy Tail and as well as gruvia? ... That's stupid you need to form your own opinion instead of grouping them with your precious otp. She is a crazy woman who Gray is always dissing/rejecting he is far more kind to Lucy

First and foremost, I don’t personally find Gray to be the “Sasuke of fairy tail” they have similarities (I guess) but only speaking in general terms kind of in an “if I squint just right” type of way- it’s pretty vague and could be applied to other characters too (eg. I could relate him to Jellal because he has a cool calm and collected demeanour) I mean, can you REALLY see Sasuke stripping every five minutes?

The actual reason he’s my favourite: He reminds me a lot a character I really liked (and still do) when I was a kid, that was what initially made me gravitate towards him. Nothing too serious, they’re actually quite different, but i just get these vibes and it makes me feel nostalgic? Idek. Guess it doesn’t hurt that he’s cool as a cucumber, has a nice face and is a total badass 😎 so I wouldn’t say I like him because he’s “like sasuke” I like Sasuke because he’s cool ok? 9/10 of the time I’ll like the cool guy that’s all tough but really just needs a hug and someone to tell him it’s gonna be alright.

Again with the comparisons? Gray clearly returns Juvia’s feelings; Sasuke didn’t return Sakuras until the last 10 seconds of the story (MY OTP THO I LOVE EM) So again, bad comparison. Next, Sakura for 90% of story wasn’t thirsty for Sasuke, then there’s juvia who is #1 gray fullbuster stan and will let you know, oh boy, Will you know (not a bad thing, no hate, it’s all love here, you do you boo)I suppose a similarity could be the bond they have and Sakura/Juvia’s unconditional, deep, genuine love for Sasuke/Gray- but again, that could be said for many other couples too.

And lastly, half of the time he rejects juvia you do realise it’s for comedic effect right? RIGHT? I’m a bit concerned for your ability(or lack of) to tell when somethings supposed to make you giggle or when it’s actually serious. Furthermore, it’s gray we’re talking about, he’s gonna get embarrassed/uncomfortable if juvia is smothering him in public. We all know when they lived together it would’ve gone down a lot differently( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), if you catch my drift( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). He claims “SHES NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!1!1!1” but they just seem like empty words, especially since actions speak louder than words, right? All the close moments they’ve shared (in my opinion) negate the whole “he rejected her!1” arguments.

Ofc Gray cares for Lucy, why wouldn’t he? You know what else? He also cares for Erza, Wendy, Mira, Cana, Levy ect. So what’s your point? It boggles my mind that a girl and a guy can not have a good friendship without it being seen as romantic UGHHHH. Lucy (and the other gals) is(/are) like his family he is allowed to care about them without wanting to fuck them, golly gosh. All I’m saying, is don’t hold your breath on Gray and Lucy being endgame, because I can say with 200% certainty that Nalu and Gruvia will become canon.
