🕉 🚩 🇮🇳 🥁⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Durga - the goddess of power and strength, is perhaps the most important goddess in the #sanatandharma. She is a multi-dimensional Goddess, with many names, many personas, and many facets. As Mahishasuramardini or Shakti, she is the destroyer of evil - with her 🔟 mighty arms carrying lethal weapons she triumphantly slays the demon Mahishasura.⠀ ⠀ Yesterday on the night of Navami, the 9th day of the celebration of the Goddess, as I ventured out to experience the various facets of the Devi, I experienced many unique things. Every idol that you see in the slide has been a part of my childhood and I used to religiously visit each of the pandal in one go only on foot. This year, the idols were small in size, there were no dhakkis (traditional drummers) also in majority of the pandals. Whereas once upon a time, all these pandals used to compete in various categories ex. Best Idol, Lighting, Asur, Dhaki, Eco-friendly etc. But this year, there was no such extravaganza. The sole motive was to preserve the age old traditions and to keep the pride intact amongst the people that we survived the pandemic keeping our traditions intact. Those liberals crying for the economy should have seen the crowd near the local eateries. And which gives me the feeling that it's just a matter of time before the economy bounce back. 🕉️🚩🔱🇮🇳⠀ ⠀ ⠀ What a time to be alive and see this day!⠀ ⠀ When millions of people have suffered and lost in this battle we were never prepared for.⠀ ⠀ At a puja pandal near me, where every year an idol of Devi durga was worshipped is now replaced by a banner of the previous year idol. If this was not enough, even the pushpanjali (flower offering to the Goddess) ceremony was not conducted just to let people not gather around. The only ceremony in the whole year when I fast willingly. 💔⠀ ⠀ And instead people light up the diyas and the incense sticks.🕯️⠀ ⠀ ⠀ This 🆕 normal has stayed way beyond its expiry date.
