Why use Water Activated Paper Tape? 

There are many reasons why water activated tape has seen a resurgence in popularity.  The driving force of its popularity is the growing demand for package shipping.  When it comes to securing packages, nothing beats the strength of water-activated tape. Unlike plastic tapes that only sit on the surface of a box, WAT penetrates the fibers of the corrugated cardboard, forming a secure bond. This bond not only enhances the strength of the package.

Security – no shipper wants their package to be tampered with. Today, shippers are sending all types of items including foods, pharmaceuticals, valuable electronics, and many other sensitive items.  The tamper evident closure of water activated tape assures the box stays closed until intentionally opened.  Security of closure is the #1 reason water activated tape is used today for eCommerce packages.

Branding – The appearance of your eCommerce packaging is statement about your brand.  Do you value your customer’s experience when they receive your package?�� Most eCommerce shippers are turning to branded water activated tape to seal packages.  The paper based, water activated tape prints well and is easy to apply to the box without folding or creasing the tape – a major problem for plastic pressure sensitive tape.

Paper Based Packaging Tapes

Paper based packaging tapes are much more environmentally friendly due to being made from paper, and they have a stronger adhesive, offering a much more secure way to seal boxes and packages. It is also water resistant and works well in humid conditions, making it suitable for sealing up boxes ready for transit or storage.  The types of paper-based tape are as follows:

Self-Adhesive Kraft Paper Tape: made from kraft paper but with an adhesive that is already active when released from the roll, self-adhesive kraft tape is a better option for anyone who is looking for a paper tape that acts the same as the standard type of packaging tape. Like gummed paper tape, self-adhesive kraft tape can be recycled with the box that it is still attached to. It can also be used with a standard pistol grip tape dispenser whilst also being easy to tear and apply by hand.

Kraft Reinforced Tape: Tired of cleaning up after gummed paper tape? Reinforced self-adhesive paper machine tape is the perfect alternative. It ensures a cleaner workspace, consistent seals to your package and less waste.

Gummed Paper Tape: made from kraft paper, this tape has a natural adhesive that is activated when water is applied via a specialized dispenser. As the adhesive only works when coming into contact with water, it forms a stronger bond when used to seal cartons as the adhesive soaks into the cardboard and so it becomes very difficult to remove or tamper with. It can be recycled with the box and biodegrades over time. The downside with gummed paper tape is that the tape cannot be used through a normal tape dispenser as it needs water to activate the adhesive. A specific gummed tape dispenser is needed for the application.

If you are looking to quickly seal packages, self-adhesive tape is the best option as it is ready to be applied with a hand-held dispenser. However, if you are looking for a longer-term seal, gummed paper tape can be applied with water and once it dries it will bond to the package. Or alternatively, reinforced paper tape as this tape does not require water but still creates a longer-term seal.

Paper packaging tape, particularly the gummed reinforced tape, is more cost-effective than plastic tapes. This is because it is strong and instantly adheres so less of it is used when compared to plastic tape, in which people tend to overuse in multiple layers to make sure the seal is secure.  Although paper tape can be used by hand, it is still recommended to try and apply with a tape dispenser as it will ensure smoother adhesion and better application.

So I've been thinking about Four again (surprise surprise) and the canon ending to the Four Swords book. Assuming that the colors are pieces of his soul, either his soul was put together and it healed I guess (can souls do that, is that even a thing), or it's just straight up super glued back together with magic, like those pottery things where they fix broken things with gold.

Yeah it’s hard to say. I mean it makes sense that if the four sword is capable of splitting a hero’s soul into four pieces, it would be capable of putting those pieces back together, but it’s hard to say how good a job of it it does.

I would say Link’s soul probably healed, or got put back properly seeing as he doesn’t seem to suffer any immediate effects after being put back together, but since there’s only like two pages there it’s a little hard to say.

That or the goddesses just got some magic duct tape, slapped his soul together and are hoping it holds because “oh crap he put the sword back it’s not as good at putting the pieces back as it is at taking them apart” and they panicked
