Actually I wouldn't be surprised if putin allowed the leaks of the torture that happens in russian prisons as an intimidation tactic
After all, no one in their right mind wants to be trapped in a place like that, especially where you could be raped at any time and no one would stop it, it is even part of the system
Part of the psychology of repression that you only have to make an example of a few in order for the rest to be intimidated, too paralyzed with fear to act.

A few days ago, the founder of Gulagu net, Vladimir Osechkin, received a warning letter, which contained information about preparations by one of the special units of the Main Directorate of the General Staff (previously called the GRU/GRU) to kill him by simulating drowning/accident. We do not know for sure whether this message is reliable or whether it is an attempt to intimidate Vladimir, create stress, encourage him to stop playing sports and swimming, plunge him into fears and ultimately thus exert pressure. In any case, Vladimir decided to talk about this openly after filing a statement about it with law enforcement agencies, interrogating him and starting a check/investigation on this matter. Regardless of whether this was an attempt to intimidate or a truly reliable message warning about the preparation of a special murder operation involving 4 killer swimmers, Vladimir decided to talk about it openly and made it clear that despite another attempt to influence him, he would continue his independent investigation and will not live in fear, will continue to swim and will now be prepared (and not only he) for the “arrival” of uninvited guests. And most importantly, against the backdrop of widespread fear and apathy, a feeling of “no prospects” and lack of change. Right now, it is important for us all to show solidarity and courage, to vigorously continue and act in the interests of democracy and the future. The dictator is old and decrepit, and time is working against him, for us and the victory of reason. Ahead lies the fall of the dictatorship, perestroika 2.0, the debunking of the cult of personality, the end of the war and an international trial of war criminals. It is clear that not everyone will live to see this, there are still many battles and losses ahead, but we still have no other way. 🕊This is the way. Let's continue ✊

Gulagu.net has also sent the videos to the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT). CPT did not immediately respond to The Moscow Times’ request for comment.
Osechkin founded the Gulagu.net human rights organization in 2011 to monitor violations of prison inmates' rights across Russia. He left Russia in 2015 and currently resides in France.
Gulagu.net’s website was blocked by Russia’s state media watchdog Roskomnadzor in July following requests from the FSB and FSIN.
Tanya Lokshina, associate Europe and Central Asia director at Human Rights Watch, said that while HRW was not in a position to verify the videos, the footage “gave grounds for strong concern.”
“The problem of torture in Russian penitentiaries is very acute and the government is not doing enough to ensure effective investigation, security of victims and whistleblowers and accountability for perpetrators,” Lokshina said.
Russia, alongside Turkey, ranks amongst the countries with the highest proportion of incarcerated people in Europe, according to a recent report by the Council of Europe.
Human rights groups have repeatedly slammed Russia’s "systematic” torture of its inmates.
I had to watch one of the videos for work and jfc. God damn.
Everything from penetration rapes by guards, beatings, guards pissing on you, being strapped to a bed and anally raped with very long and big objects.
Horrible fucking video.

"Fucking fascist, bitch!" 87-year-old pensioner beaten in central Moscow for negative remarks about Wagner PMC. He is a victim of the Great Terror of 1937 On a bus passing Lubyanka in Moscow, two people attacked 87-year-old pensioner Dmitry Grinchiy, OVD-Info writes , citing eyewitnesses and lawyer Oskar Cherdzhiev. When the bus passed the memorial to Yevgeny Prigozhin and Dmitry (Wagner) Utkin on Varvarka, Grinchiy allegedly called the PMC mercenaries murderers. Two mature men began to insult 87-year-old Grinchiy, attacked him, twisted his arms and forcibly dragged him out of the transport. "Get out, bitch! You fucking fascist, bitch!" — the attacker shouts at the elderly man. He was handed over to the traffic police officer on duty. The police detained both Grinchiy and the attackers. The pensioner was taken to the Kitay-Gorod police department, and then to the Basmanny police department. The attackers filed a complaint against him, but the police released the elderly man. Dmitry Grinchiy was born in 1937, but learned his last name only at the age of 15. His father, Pavel Grinchiy, head of the Civil Air Fleet's planning department, was executed in 1938 on charges of spying for Japan; he was rehabilitated in 1966.
