Various ways but a lot of people start learning patterns before notes usually when they pick up the guitar. Imagine this starts on 6th string 1st fret F. Guitar is built around the circle of 5ths or 4ths if you look at it from the 6th string down(I do). When I began playing I was set on memorizing all the modes and their given patterns. It’s weird but it helps me remember my way around the fretboard depending on what Key and scale I’m starting in especially when blending scales. I still get lost tho lol. It’s movable also and the logic behind it works the same for Pentatonics. Does that make sense? VARIABLE THICKNESS Guitar pick thickness is important. What are the advantages of using a pick with variable thickness? Actually, there are quite a few. A pick with variable thickness has different thicknesses for the tip and the body, and it will have an impact on the following aspects: 1️⃣ - Control: A less flexible, thicker body will increase control. 2️⃣ - Tone: The pick’s extra mass will produce more bass tones and therefore will have more presence. 3️⃣ - Versatility: Since the pick is thinner than the body, more adequate techniques for thinner picks can be used with the control thick guitar picks offer. 4️⃣ - Grip: The thicker hold area will allow the designers to create 3D geometries that enhance the grip without aggressive grip textures. A good example of such a pick is Rombo Horizon. Its tip is 1.4 mm, whereas some areas of its body go up to 2.8 mm thick.
