just finished listening to mammalian sighing reflex .
#im already so fucking obsessed with this album oh my god. everyone shut up right now#god it really is like ycgma's sister. similar yet different#differences in sound; differences in flavor of sadness#something that is in this album all throughout that wasnt in ycgma that i LOVEEEEEEEE is the use of like. a synth i think????#i dont know but the like ''beeping'' kind of noises. they sound just like how los campesinos uses them and it makes me SO HAPPY#bcuz thats always been one of my favorite elements of their songs and they make me go crazy. so hearing them here... ARHHRGHRGH#theres just something about the simple acoustic guitar with the little beeps that i love so fucking much#as of this first listening my initial favorites are amazon standing lamp; around the pomegranate; and glass chalet#also dropshipped cat shirt suddenly devolving into breakcore caught me SO off guard. but i love it#also can i say that around the pomegranate ending with the lyric ''find my comfort in envisioning the end'' and the very next song#being called ''i don't think it will ever end'' .#i was in shambles#serena.txt#ALSO ALSO. the fact that every single one of the songs fades into each other is so good#a lot of times with albums only like one or some of the songs will have a clean transition like that#so i really love the fact that with this one the ENTIRE album flows between songs#also i don't think it will ever end gave me jack stauber vibes with the pitched up voices and stuff

have the teensiest blurb ever i wrote as a writing warm-up ⥠fluffy nonsense! i know we're all in an arcane mood, but i can't forget about my girl. (i promise real writing is coming LMAOO im workin on it)
a cozy night in with ellie williams is more healing than the most researched of therapies. full of love, care, fun, relaxation, they were your favorite nights of the week.
at the end of a long, hard week, ellie knows just what you need. she starts of by preparing you a soulful dinner in advance before you get backâa warm and hearty stew. she sets the table, lights a handful of candles, and makes the atmosphere soothing.
when she hears you trudge inside with a groan of exhaustion, she's by your side within milliseconds, removing your coat and taking your heavy bag off your shoulders, finishing off with a heart-to-heart embrace and a kiss on your forehead.
she's intuitive enough to register your energy levels too, without you having to tell her how you're feeling. the smallest markers on your face set off alarms in her head, and she knows that today is a quiet kind of day. she lowers her tone of voice to a whisper, does not inquire excessively about your day, but just leads you to the dining room where you're greeted by the steaming bowl and elegantly set table.
when you sit down you beam at her, internally pinching yourself at her generosity and wondering what you could have done to deserve her, she was sweeter than honey, truly. your smile is infectious, and her familiar toothy grin plays upon her delicate features. she keeps you company while you both have your meal, then she follows you to the living room, already calculating what she can do for you next.
you slump into the silken cushions of the couch, your voice crackling, âels, could you play something for me?â
you nod at the guitar in the corner of the room, covered in wear and tear but housing a sound that felt like home.
she grabs it and plops down next to you, clearing her throat.
slender fingers creating magic on the steel strings, downy voice caressing your ears, you were enveloped in a momentary calmness.
her husky voice, and the lyrics and melody of a-ha's take on me never fail to woo you, she plays it perfectly. you curl up with a blanket, and close your eyes to intensify the experience.
now in darkness, her music caused shapes and colors to form in your minds eye, you could even hear her love-filled smile.
a lullaby in your favorite place, with your favorite person playing it just for you, you were at ease. your heart felt as if it was about to burst with adoration for the girl on the couch next to you, and you were lulled into a restful state, her music painting a mural in your shallow dreams.
rest up, you deserve it.

Hongjoong đśď¸
art gallery and vinyl store:
Hongjoong gives off that art gallery and vinyl store vibe. He takes you to a cozy, intimate art gallery, where heâs genuinely curious about what each piece means to you. As you wander through, he leads you to an abstract painting with deep blues and warm golds, and his gaze lingers on it for a moment. Finally, he looks over at you with a curious smile, eyes sparkling with thought.
âItâs strangeâŚâ he begins, studying the piece. âThis one makes me think of a dream I hadâbut itâs hard to put into words. Itâs like the artist left us a clue.â For a moment, heâs lost in the painting and the quiet of the gallery. The evening feels weighty in the best way, and you sense heâs simply happy to share this space with you. He gestures around thoughtfully. âWe should come to more galleries, you know. I think weâd get along well with the art,â he muses, voice soft but earnest.
After the gallery, he takes you to his favorite vinyl store, his face lighting up as he flips through stacks of records, each album cover like a piece of art in itself. Heâs in his element. âI have to play you this one!â he says, pulling out an album with a cover of swirling colors. âItâs got this dreamy guitar that justâŚfeels like a night drive.â He slides a record into the listening station, placing one headphone on his ear and offering you the other. âClose your eyes,â he whispers.
As the music begins, youâre immersed in a warm, dreamy atmosphere. Hongjoong sits quietly beside you, letting the sound wrap around both of you, and when the song ends, he smiles, more to himself than to anyone else. âItâs timeless,â he says, voice almost a whisper. Leaving the store, he glances at you, brushing his hand through his hair, looking thoughtful. âNext time, Iâll make you a mix of songs like that. For drives, late nightsâŚfor whatever moments we want to make ours.â

Seonghwa đ§
the picnic type (outside of legos ofc):
Seonghwa strikes you as the type who appreciates quiet beauty. He takes you to a peaceful hill just outside the city, where heâs prepared a stargazing setup with cozy blankets, soft pillows, and a thermos of hot cocoa for warmth. The sun is just beginning to set as you both settle in, and he starts pointing out constellations, his voice calm under the deepening twilight.
âI wanted to find a spot where we could see the stars clearly, and where it would just be us,â he says, a subtle smile playing on his lips. He pulls out a small telescope and carefully adjusts it, pointing to a bright star. âSee that? Thatâs Vegaâone of the brightest stars,â he explains, eyes lighting up. âThey say it symbolizes harmony and balance. So pretty.â
He shifts his gaze to meet yours, the hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. âIf we could be like those stars, maybe our story would be worth telling too,â he murmurs, his eyes reflecting a bit of the starlight. Moving closer, he tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, his gaze so intense you can feel the warmth radiating from him. âYouâre the personification of Vega, bringing balance and lightâŚsomething I didnât realize I needed,â he admits. The silence that follows is comfortable, and as he gazes at you, his voice softens, almost reverent. âI donât think Iâll ever get tired of this view.â

Yunho âď¸
fun, amusement park kind of man!:
Yunho radiates fun and adventure, which is why he chooses the amusement park for your first date. From the moment you arrive, his excitement is infectious. His eyes gleam as he takes in the lights, rides, and sounds of laughter, and without hesitation, he grabs your hand. âLetâs do everything! The roller coaster first. Trust me, weâre about to have the best time.â
On the roller coaster, Yunhoâs excitement morphs into thrill as he laughs and screams, his eyes wide with exhilaration. When you finally get off, he leans against the railing, catching his breath with a grin. âNext time, Iâll keep it cool and calm, I swear. But firstâŚâ he says, eyeing a booth with stuffed animals. âIâm winning you the biggest one here!â
Determined, he attempts the game multiple times before finally winning a massive plush dog. With a triumphant grin, he holds it up to you like a trophy. âTold you Iâd get it,â he laughs, handing it over with a playful wink. As the day goes on, you ride more rides and play more games, and as the sun begins to set, he stops to take in the vibrant lights illuminating the park, a content look on his face.
âI want to remember today like this. Just us, being silly and enjoying each moment,â he says softly. After a moment, he grins, nudging you playfully. âNext time, maybe weâll try something even more thrilling. How does skydiving sound?â

YeosangđŞ˝Â Â
the garden boy:
As you step into the botanical garden, the colors and scents of flowers envelop you both, transforming the air into a fragrant embrace. Yeosang seems to come alive in this vibrant setting, walking slowly and soaking in every detail with a childlike wonder. He stops frequently, admiring a particular flower, his fingers brushing gently against the delicate petals as if to connect with their beauty.Â
âLook at this one; itâs so vibrant. Iâve never seen such a shade of red before,â he exclaims, pulling out his phone to capture the moment with an artistic eye. He snaps photos, each shot a testament to his creativity, and then turns to you, his expression soft and thoughtful.Â
âSometimes I feel like nature can express feelings we canât put into words. Gardens are so peaceful to me,â he muses, leaning against a nearby tree to admire you with a gentle smile. In this moment, heâs not just appreciating nature; heâs savoring your presence as if you were the most beautiful flower in the garden.
âIf I could, Iâd spend every day here, just us and the beauty around us⌠creating our own little world,â he says, the sincerity in his voice making your heart flutter. He carefully plucks a delicate flower, twirling it between his fingers before holding it out to you with a shy grin.Â
âHere, something to remember today by,â he offers, his shy demeanor revealing his affection. As you walk together, the tranquility of the garden reflects in his eyes. He feels incredibly lucky to share this serene moment with you, and his admiration shines through. âThis day⌠it feels special. The perfect moment captured in time with you,â he whispers, his love language evident in his words of affirmation and the little gestures that express his affection.

Sanđť
Pet cafe seemed the most appropriate for him:
The moment you step into the pet cafe, Sanâs excitement is palpable, radiating joy as he practically skips towards the kittens and puppies. His laughter fills the air as a fluffy puppy bounds over, tail wagging furiously. He kneels down, scooping it into his arms, his face lighting up with sheer delight.Â
âHeâs the cutest puppy!â he exclaims, stroking the puppyâs soft fur while it licks his cheek, making you smile at the warmth in his heart. As you watch him interact with the animals, you notice how effortlessly his joy spreads to everyone around.
âYou know, Iâve always believed that animals can sense good hearts. They seem to like you a lot⌠just like I do,â he says, glancing at you with genuine warmth. Itâs a sweet reminder of the connection you both share, and his words are laced with sincerity, affirming your place somewhere in his mind and heart.Â
As you both move to a corner filled with treats, he holds a tiny biscuit out for a waiting puppy. âWoo, this is your moment to shine!â he laughs as the puppy eagerly takes the treat from his hand. Watching him share his joy with the animals, you canât help but admire how he brings out the best in everyone.
âI could spend all day here with you and these little animals. You guys just make the day more worth it,â he says, wrapping an arm around your shoulder as you both settle on the floor, surrounded by playful furballs.Â

MingiđŠ°
Nighttime vibesâdef an outdoor movie type:
Mingi leads you to a local park where an outdoor movie is screening classic films. He sets up a cozy spot on the grass with blankets and snacks, the anticipation buzzing in the air as you settle in together. Leaning back on his hands, he intertwines his fingers with yours, his playful eyes sparkling with mischief.
âAlright! Letâs see how bad this movie really is. Couldnât do a scary one for obvious reasons,â he quips, the sound of his laughter blending with the chirping of crickets. As the film begins, he leans closer, whispering witty commentary and shaking his head dramatically whenever a character makes a ridiculous decision.
âDid they really think that was a good idea? Who jumps into a dark alley like that? I mean, I would definitely jump in if you were there, but thatâs beside the point,â he jokes, his words laced with affection as he playfully nudges you. Each laugh shared draws you closer, creating a tapestry of moments that feels magical.
When the film ends, he pulls you into a quieter area of the park, where the rustling leaves and distant laughter create a serene backdrop. The moonlight casts a gentle glow on his face as he glances at you, longing evident in his eyes. âYou know, I really like this. Just sharing our thoughts and debating silly stuff⌠itâs perfect to me,â he admits, his vulnerability showing as he leans in closer, his forehead resting against yours.

Summer lovinâ - Kim Mingyu
summary: Summer break means hanging out with friends, spending time with your loved ones and enjoy the weather.
What if you meet the love of your life on the beach and the drama unfolds from now on?
content: non idol Mingyu x non Idol reader, fight, angst, happy end, fluff, jealousy, lot´s of love
wc: 3.4 k
a/n: In the summer time I always binge watch grease, it makes me so happy. Growing up It was my dads favorite movie.
On a warm summer evening in a small coastal town, a story began as beautiful as the setting sun on the horizon.
Mingyu, a young man with dark hair and a dazzling smile, and you, with sparkling eyes and an beautiful laugh, met on the beach. It was a small and silly encounter, but one that would change your lives forever.
Mingyu led his group of friends who spent the summer hanging out, throwing beach parties, surfing, and having endless conversations. He was charming, popular, and always had a sneaky remark ready.
He was just the dream boy of everyone around here.
You, on the other hand, were new in town. You had moved there with your family for the holidays and were enjoying the peace and beauty of the coast. Your character was rather shy and held back.
That evening, when you first met, sparks flew immediately. You bumped into each other when Mingyu was tossing a can of soda to a friend, and you were packing up your beach bag. The soda landed right at your feet, spraying you, and you laughed as Mingyu grinned apologetically.
He was fascinated that you did not care the slightest about your yellow Summer Dress being full of soda right now.
"That's quite an introduction," you said, laughing, wiping some of the liquid of.
"I hope it wasn't a bad one," Mingyu replied, handing you a towel.
"Well I was just packing up anyways, It´s washable" you shrugged and from that moment on he knew you were different.
He took you out for dinner a day later.
From then on, you spent every day together. You rode bicycles through the streets of the town, shared ice cream at the pier, and danced to the sounds of beach concerts. Mingyu showed you his favorite spots while you shared stories of your old home.
Mingyu made this new home feel like you´ve been here forever, all the little memories he shared with you made you feel good.
As the summer days turned into weeks, your bond grew stronger. You had deep conversations under the stars, built sandcastles on the shore, and watched countless sunsets together. Mingyu found himself opening up to you in ways he never had with anyone else. And you, who had always been a bit reserved, felt completely at ease with Mingyu.
The way he lifted you up at the beach and ran into the water with you, the two of you just laughing like crazy, gave your mind some peace.
One afternoon, Mingyu took you on a surprise date to a hidden cove he had discovered as a child. The cove was a paradise, with crystal-clear water and soft sand. You spent the day swimming, exploring the tide pools, and lying on the beach, talking about your dreams and aspirations. As the sun began to set, Mingyu lit a small bonfire and brought out a guitar. He played a song he had written for you, his voice blending with the sound of the waves. It was a moment of pure magic.
His voice was deep and soft at the same time, it felt like some kind of home and safety.
As he put his guitar away you climbed into his lap, his large hands digged into your hips trough the fabric of the petticoat dress. His thumb softly stroke your cheek and you leaned in kissing him softly.
This was the first kiss the two of you shared, his hands wandered under your dress, your fingers playing with the hairs on his nape.
As the night continued Mingyu was hovering over you "you´re so beatiful Y/N" he said honestly and kissed you once again.
He took his time with you, cherishing your body and making you feel safe when he took your Virginity.
It was messy doing it at the beach, but in this exact moment, how he kissed you, how he rolled his hips, how he marked your body just felt perfect.
And you both felt so safe and loved.
But like every summer, this one too had to end. With the beginning of the new school year, you had to face the challenges of everyday life. Mingyu returned to his familiar surroundings, surrounded by his friends, and you tried to adjust to your new school.
Your first day back at school was a stark contrast to the carefree days of summer. Mingyu was greeted with high-fives and shouts from his friends, while you felt a pang of anxiety as you navigated the unfamiliar hallways. You had been looking forward to seeing Mingyu again, hoping to rekindle the magic of the summer, but when you saw him in the hallway, he walked past you without a second glance.
Confused and hurt, you approached him after class. "Mingyu, it's me," you said, hoping he had just been distracted.
Hoping that this day just made him as nervous as it made you.
He looked at you with a puzzled expression. "I'm sorry, do I know you?"
You felt your heart sink. "It's me y/n... from the beach this summer. Come on quit the act" you´re voice was full of fear.
The only person you knew acting like you´re a stranger after this beautiful summer.
Mingyu's eyes flickered with recognition for a brief moment, but he quickly masked it. "Oh, right. Sorry, I was just really busy. See you around."
As he walked away, you couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal. The Mingyu you had spent those magical summer days with was now acting like a stranger. It didn't take long for you to find out why.
Mingyu's ex-girlfriend, Minji, had taken notice of you and Mingyu during the summer. Now that school had started, she was determined to keep him within her grasp.
She was still deeply in love with Mingyu, he was the highschool sweetheart, of course she wanted him.
Minji was popular, beautiful, and used to getting what she wanted. Seeing you with Mingyu ignited a jealousy that she couldn't contain. She spread rumors about you, trying to undermine your relationship. Whispers in the hallways and snide comments from her friends made you feel isolated and unsure.
Mingyu, pressured by his friends and Minji, decided it was easier to pretend he didn't know you. He thought it would protect you from Minji's wrath, but it only made things worse.
You felt abandoned and alone, navigating the harsh realities of high school without the support of the person you had grown so close to.
You had thought Mingyu would be by your side at the beginning of this new Journey.
But seeing him laughing with his friends group, meanwhile you were sitting alone on the bleacher brought back the harsh reality that this was just some summer fun for him.
But after some weeks Mingyu approached you, he did not leave your side and he always went to the beach with you.
He even asked you out to accompany him to the School Dance, you werent sure at first, but as he placed some kisses on your collarbone you agreed.
One particularly painful incident happened during a school dance. Mingyu had promised to meet you there, but Minji intercepted him, feigning a crisis to get his attention. As you stood waiting, watching couples dance and laugh, you felt a knot of anxiety in your stomach.
You felt like everyone laughed at you, the newbie being left alone at the school ball.
When Mingyu finally arrived, looking flustered, you could see Minji watching from a distance, a smug smile on her face.
"What took you so long?" you asked, trying to keep your voice steady.
"I'm sorry, y/n. Minji... she said she needed help," Mingyu explained, but you could see the guilt in his eyes.
"So you always put her first?" you asked playing with the hem of your dress.
"No it´s not like that, I´m just to nice, if someone needs help I´ll help" he sighed cupping your cheek "let´s just enjoy the night sunny" he smiled.
You loved that he called you that because you always were the sunshine in his days.
And as your head laid on his chest, while the two of you swayed from side to side you felt like everything will be alright.
The tension between you and Minji reached a breaking point one afternoon at the beach.
"aren´t you ashamed of yourself? You´re a nobody, trying to steal my life Y/N" she spat. You could just stand there and watch her throwing insults at you "you could never be like me, you´re a nobody, Mingyu is just confused what he wants" She confronted you.
"And now you can´t even open that ugly mouth to talk, god damn what does he see in you" she said angry.
"He will come back if you´re not enough for him anymore" she spat and you gulped.
Mingyu arrived just in time to see you standing your ground, tears in your eyes but unwavering.
"Minji, stop," Mingyu said firmly. "This has gone too far."
Minji looked at him, hurt and anger flashing in her eyes. "You're choosing her over me?"
"I'm choosing what's right," Mingyu replied, taking your hand. "And what's right is not letting you hurt y/n anymore."
Minji's eyes narrowed. "You don't understand. She doesn't belong here. We belong together, Mingyu."
"That's not your decision to make," he said, his voice steady. "It's mine. And I've made my choice." he pulled you closer.
"You cannot be serious Mingyu, we were so good together" she whispered and glared at you "and then she came".
"It´s my life, my feelings, you can´t do shit about it Minji" he answered confident, Minji huffed and ran off.
As you looked up at him his fingers softly wiped away the tears "she´s not worth your tears Sunny" he whispered softly kissing you.
Minji's rage reached new heights. She began to spread more malicious rumors about you, this time saying you were using Mingyu for popularity.
She even went as far as to sabotage your schoolwork, framing you for cheating on an important test. You were called into the principal's office, and despite your protests of innocence, the evidence seemed damning.
It was funny because you were one of the best students here, and still they believed her.
Mingyu stood by you, though it strained his relationships with his friends. They questioned why he was risking so much for you, and Minji manipulated the situation to turn them against you both.
Mingyu's best friend, Jisoo, was particularly torn. He had known Minji for years and couldn't believe she would go to such lengths.
One evening, after a particularly rough day, you and Mingyu met at your secret spot on the beach. Tears streamed down your face as you told him about the latest rumor Minji had spread. Mingyu held you close, his jaw set in determination.
"We'll get through this," he said softly. "I promise you."
"how can you promise me? Nothing seems to work out" you sobbed against his chest.
"She´s just jealous Sunny" he kissed your head "but that does not allow her to hurt me like that" you said with a quiet voice.
"absolutely not, and I hope she realizes that I chose you" he lifted your head up "I want you, only you Sunny" he kissed you softly.
The final straw came during the school's annual talent show. You had been preparing a duet with Mingyu, a song that meant a lot to both of you.
On the night of the performance, Minji sabotaged the equipment, causing the music to cut out halfway through. The audience murmured in confusion, and you felt a wave of panic.
This had cost you a lot of strength to even to it and now this.
But then Mingyu took your hand and started singing a cappella. His voice was strong and steady, and slowly, you joined in. The audience fell silent, captivated by the raw emotion of your performance. When you finished, the room erupted in applause, louder than any before.
Mingyu smiled brightly at you kissing you "you did so great love" he whispered in your ear.
After the show, Jisoo approached you both, a conflicted look on his face. "I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't want to believe it, but I've seen enough. Minji's gone too far."
With Jisoo's support, more people began to see Minji's true colors. The principal reopened the investigation into the cheating scandal and discovered the truth. Minji was suspended, and you were exonerated.
Minji had done this to a few other students it seemed and the Principal was not happy.
As the school year progressed, you and Mingyu faced more challenges, but each one only strengthened your bond. You supported each other through exams, personal struggles, and the lingering effects of Minji's actions. You became each other's confidants and best friends, finding strength and comfort in your relationship.
One particularly memorable evening, Mingyu organized a surprise for you. He blindfolded you and led you to a secluded spot on the beach where he had set up a small bonfire surrounded by fairy lights. As you sat by the fire, Mingyu played a song on his guitar, one that he had written for you once again. The lyrics spoke of your summer together, your laughter, and your love. Tears welled up in your eyes as you listened, feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude for having met Mingyu.
When you entered his home you got lost within each other, whispering small I love yous and sharing your feelings with each other.
By the end of the school year, when summer approached once again, you and Mingyu stood on the beach, hand in hand, looking out at the ocean. You knew that this summer was just the beginning of your journey together. Because true love always finds a way, no matter what obstacles life may present.

The first time Steve got expelled, his father picked him up from school while his mother stayed to chat with the principal. He was twelve at the time, confused about what he'd done wrong, and feeling validated by his father's ecstatic praise of his initiative.
He'd wound up in Grandmama's kitchen, sitting cross-legged on the island while Wednesday added spider legs to a mixing bowl. Fester had gone off the find Gomez after telling Wednesday to keep an eye on Steve. She'd immediately turned away after Fester left the room.
"So," she said, idly stirring, "you've been expelled. What for?"
"I brought rattlesnakes to class."
"Why?"
"We were learning about snakes. I thought the teacher would appreciate live examples."
"How many?"
"Twenty seven. One for each student."
"Did they bite anyone?"
"No," Steve said, frowning and not bothering to conceal his disappointment at the fact.
"That's a shame."
Steve nodded, watching Wednesday for a few minutes before asking, "What are you making?"
"A cake for Joel."
"Why?"
"He insists on celebrating our anniversary."
"What kind is it?"
"Cinnamon with walnuts."
Steve thought for a moment, trying to figure out why that specific combination sounded familiar. Finally, he said, "I thought Joel was allergic to those."
"He is allergic to many things," Wednesday said, looking over her shoulder to smirk at Steve. "But especially cinnamon and walnuts."
"How come you're making it then?"
"To make sure he remembers how breathless I made him when we first met."
Steve thought that might be one of the most romantic things he's ever heard. He carefully filed the idea away in the back of his mind, hoping he'd one day find someone with an allergy severe enough to use it.
-------------------------
Eddie can't stop looking at Steve's parents, his gaze moving between the two as he tries to figure out how the fuck they ended up together. He feels like someone is about to jump out and tell him he's on a prank show. What else could describe the sheer polar opposite natures of Steve's parents?
Debbie looks exactly like the kind of woman who'd live in a Barbie Dream House: blonde, perfect makeup, pastel dress, the refined air that just hovers around her. Fester, however, looks like he belongs next door. Eddie had noticed how pale he was the first time they met, but he's positively corpse-like now that Steve and Debbie are around for comparison.
He'd almost believe Steve wasn't their child if not for the fact that Eddie can see every way he is. Steve might look like Debbie on the outside, but he's undoubtedly an Addams on the inside. He has Debbie's fashion sense and air of elegance. his eyes get the same crazed light sometimes that Fester's do when Debbie speaks, and the words they speak are similar.
"Eddie," Debbie says, snapping him out of his thoughts. At some point, he'd started staring at Steve, and he feels his cheeks flush at getting caught. "Steve tells me you play guitar. Did you recently learn?"
Oh. Eddie feels his shoulders relax some at the familiar topic. "My mom taught me when I was younger. She used to play for me whenever I had nightmares."
"She doesn't play for you anymore?" Debbie asks, spearing a piece of chicken with her fork.
"Oh, uh, she died a few years ago," Eddie says, smiling apologetically for such a downer of a topic. "Cancer, you know."
"That must have been excruciating," Steve says, a soft sigh accompanying his words, and Eddie isn't sure if he's sympathetic or jealous.
Debbie nods as she inspects her chicken closely before putting it in her mouth, her eyes narrowing slightly as she chews. "I said no poisoning the food, dear," she says, looking at Fester with a somewhat strained smile.
"Aww, it's just a nightshade reduction, Mother. We didn't even put any on Eddie's plate," Steve says.
Now that Eddie is actually paying attention, he realizes the dark sauce drizzled across their chicken is missing from his own. "Why don't I have any?" he asks, figuring it can't really be a nightshade sauce.
"You haven't worked your way up to nightshade yet," Fester explains, his eyes lighting up as he adds, "But don't worry! We're getting you started with just a dash of chalk in your rice."
Eddie blinks, glancing down at the half-eaten rice on his plate. He didn't notice anything weird about it, so maybe they're joking. But then he hears Debbie's put-upon sigh. "Fester, dear?"
"Yes, Pumpkin?"
"I'd make you sleep in the doghouse, but you'd just enjoy it."
"Eddie doesn't mind, I'm sure," Steve says, looking at Eddie with a smile that makes his heart speed up and his palms sweat. "It's okay if you do, though. Just be honest."
"I don't mind," Eddie replies, wondering where the words come from. If he'd been anywhere else, with anyone else, he'd definitely be losing his mind over a light poisoning. Somehow, though, he can't bring himself to be that upset about it. Maybe, if he tries hard enough, he'll even build enough of an immunity to kiss Steve when he's wearing that raspberry lip gloss.
The blinding smile he gets in return eases any lingering doubts he might have. Steve leans close enough for their shoulders to brush, Eddie's skin tingling through the fabric of his sleeve. "We Addams are experts at acclimating people to poisons. You'll be enjoying nightshade in no time," he says, his voice light and reassuring like Eddie was somehow impatient.
And then, without thinking, Eddie's eyes glance down at Steve's lips. They have a suspicious sheen to them, and Eddie's only half-certain he's not imagining the artificial raspberry scent. "What, uh, what about raspberries?" he asks, the words tumbling out before he can stop them.
If anything, Steve's smile just gets wider. "I'm sure we can figure something out," he replies, his tongue briefly swiping across his bottom lip.
Eddie looks away and grabs his glass, gulping down half the water inside before he says anything monumentally stupid in front of Steve's parents.
"Steve, stop torturing Eddie. You know that's dessert conversation," Debbie says, her voice light and breezy.
Steve sighs and pulls away. "Sorry," he says, not looking the least bit apologetic at all. In fact, he even glances at Eddie again and smiles, eyebrows raised slightly, and Eddie thinks he's about to die of thirst.
"Eddie," Fester says, mercifully giving him a reason to look away from Steve and try to gain some semblance of chill. "What are your interests?" Fester glances at Debbie, practically preening when she smiles and offers him a subtle, approving nod.
"Well, uh, music. I like heavy metal and play in a band. Dungeons and Dragons, too. I play that with my friends."
"Dungeons, you say?" Fester asks, suddenly looking more invested in the conversation. "What's your favorite kind? I'm partial to the French Revolution era dungeons myself."
"You just like the guillotines, Father," Steve says.
"Now that's an instrument of death. Nothing inspires fear like the glint of the blade in the sun, don't you think, Pumpkin?"
"Yes, dear, but you know I'm partial to electric chairs myself."
Steve leans closer again and says, "Mother nearly killed Father's family with electric chairs, you know."
"A splendid attempt it was," Fester adds, looking over with a bright smile.
Eddie glances between all of them, taking in their expressions and trying to figure out if they're being serious. He watches Debbie drag a carrot through dark sauce on her plate; he briefly looks into Fester's eyes and sees the manic joy lying in them; his heart speeds up at Steve's soft and contented smile. Eddie then glances around the dining room. He notes the shotgun placed on the wall with a little plaque beneath that reads "Attempt 12" in flourishing cursive. He looks at the window and sees the black, molded wood of the house next door. He thinks of Nox the spider and Kas the taxidermy rat and the ornate dagger and everything else he's found in his locker.
And he realizes something.
They're serious. They're all completely serious about everything. Steve and Fester weren't joking that first time he came over and they talked about the oven being big enough to fit him and a roast. Steve really has fought all of his siblings and was gifted a trident at his bar mitzvah. Pubert doesn't protect his kidneys.
Okay that last one maybe isn't as important, but it's one Eddie savors nonetheless.
He has two options here. One, he gets the hell out of dodge, makes some strained excuse to leave after dinner and avoids Steve in the hallways and hopes he doesn't wake up buried alive. Two, he embraces it, starts eating a little chalk with every meal, and lets Steve introduce him to whatever freaky shit will earn him another blinding smile.
"So, how did you two meet?" Eddie asks, looking at Fester and Debbie with a smile as he shovels more rice onto his fork.
-------------------------
"I approve."
Steve blinks, and then his mother's words process, and he stands a little straighter. "That's good. Though, I would've been happy to follow in Romeo and Juliet's footsteps if you hadn't."
"You wouldn't even need poison," Fester says, his voice ringing from the kitchen as Steve helps his mother gather up dessert plates. "Just wear the raspberry stuff."
"No star-crossed suicides for you, mister," Debbie says, playfully tapping her finger against Steve's forehead. "Anyway, he's a very nice young man, and he adapted rather quick, don't you think?"
"He thought it was a joke before, but he doesn't think that now. And he didn't run away screaming!"
"Not that you would've minded, I suspect."
"Well, no," Steve agrees, flashing a grin as he puts the plates on the counter next to his father. He then pulls down Tupperware, ready to pack up the leftover chicken and rice.
"He seems like a tough nut to crack, but he's nearly there," Debbie says, leaning against the island with a thoughtful look. "I mean, he seemed ready to do whatever you said at the dinner table."
"Then why hasn't he done anything? Am I being too obvious? Should I play hot and cold?"
"No, I don't think that would work here."
"Just tell him," Fester suddenly says, looking at Steve as he washes a plate. "Wouldn't that be best?"
"Would it?" Steve asks.
Before Debbie can do more than snort derisively, Fester nods. "Just think about it, son. You tell him, but leave it all up to Eddie after that. He'll torture himself trying to build up the courage to even hold your hand, especially if you catch him when he's midway."
Steve can't help the way he lights up at the thought. "That's a great idea! Thanks, Father. I'm gonna go plan my confession right now," he says, disappearing from the kitchen not a moment later.
"When did you get so good at this?" Debbie asks, a little pride tinging her words. When Fester lights up, she decides to reward him that night with an extra ten minutes of cuddling before bed.

Summary: Eddie forgets about your anniversary and makes up the night for you after you argue with him. angst to happy ending, fluff.
credit for dividers: @saradika-graphics
While waiting for Eddie to come home, you excitedly rolled up your sleeves to prepare for a day that would make him feel how special it was to you. Since the morning, there had been only one thought on your mind: celebrating your anniversary perfectly. You decided to prepare everything with both great care and love to make it flawless.
First, you headed to the kitchen. You thought about Eddie's favorite dishes: maybe the creamy pasta he's loved since childhood, or that amazing dessert you both recently discovered together. You took out the ingredients from the fridge and carefully began the preparations. As the clinking sounds of pots and pans filled the kitchen, you imagined how the evening would unfold. Once the food was ready, you elegantly plated itâcreating a meal Eddie could never say no to.
Afterward, you moved on to setting the dinner table. You chose a soft champagne-colored tablecloth, something both romantic and elegant. On top, you placed tall white candles. When the idea of decorating the candles with red rose petals crossed your mind, a sweet sparkle lit up in your eyes. Once the petals were scattered across the table, it transformed into a work of art. The plates and silverware were meticulously arrangedâevery detail thoughtfully designed so Eddie would notice how much effort you'd put into this.
Next, it was time to get yourself ready. You picked that stunning dressâthe one you were sure Eddie couldn't take his eyes off of every time he saw you wearing it. A long, elegant gown... perhaps black satin or one with lace details in a deep burgundyâwhatever you chose, you felt incredible in it. As the dress brushed lightly against the floor, you twirled in front of the mirror and smiled at your reflection.
You began applying your makeup. A subtle eyeliner to highlight your eyes, a warm pink blush on your cheeks, and that favorite lipstick you loved. Once your makeup was finished, the mirror didn't just reflect your image; it showed someone who would absolutely take Eddieâs breath away. You styled your hair the way Eddie always adored: maybe natural waves or an elegant updoâwhichever you chose, you felt absolutely beautiful at that moment.
For the background music, you put on the playlist you and Eddie had created together. Your favorite songs as a couple brought back happy memories one by one. The metal riffs resonated with the energy Eddie always brought whenever he picked up his guitar. But the playlist also had one or two slow, romantic songs Eddie had sneakily added as a surprise for you. Remembering how Eddie had thought of you while making this playlist brought an uncontrollable smile to your face.
When everything was finally ready, you gave the living room one last glance. The table glowed in the candlelight, soft music played in the background, and the delicious aroma of food filled the air. And of course, there was youâprepared and brimming with excitement for this special moment. Thinking about the expression on Eddieâs face as he walked through the door helped calm your nerves just a little.
The hours ticked by, and Eddieâs arrival was drawing closer. Everything was set, and now all that was left was to wait for him. Before greeting him, you took a few deep breaths and checked your reflection in the mirror one last time. Tonight had to be unforgettable.
Hours had passed. At first, you eagerly waited for the moment Eddie would walk through the door, but over time, anticipation slowly turned into despair. You had meticulously prepared the meal, elegantly decorated the table, and considered every detail, yet Eddie was nowhere to be found. Your phone remained silent; no messages, no explanations. It silently tore at you.
Initially, you tried to console yourself. "Maybe heâs stuck in traffic," you thought. "Maybe work ran late, but heâll definitely come." However, as the hours dragged on, disappointment began to set in. You were hungry but kept waiting for Eddie. You didnât know how much longer you could hold out. Finally, letting go of your dream of sitting down and sharing the meal with him, you reached for the food on the table. The first bite felt like a lump stuck in your throat; this was a meal you were eating alone. The candles in the center of the table were still burning, but instead of a romantic ambiance, the flickering light filled the room with a melancholy loneliness.
When the meal was over, your hand reached for the wine bottle. "Iâll have a glass or two; itâll help me relax," you thought. With the first sip, memories of clinking glasses with Eddie flashed before your eyes. Glass after glass, the wine bottle on the table was soon halfway empty.
The makeup on your face started to feel like a burden weighing on you. You hurried to the mirror and wiped it off. Staring at your bare face in the mirror, you noticed the disappointment etched into your eyes. The hair you had styled so carefully just hours ago was now disheveled, and your spirit was completely drained.
Now, you sat alone at the head of the table. Your eyes grew heavy with fatigue, yet you couldnât bring yourself to give up waiting. "Maybe the door will open any moment now," you thought. Resting your head on the table, everything began to blur like a dream under the dim, flickering candlelight. The wineâs slight haze made your eyelids grow heavier.
At that moment, the lock on the door turned. Eddie stepped inside with his key, noticing the smell of wine that filled the room and the candles nearly burned out. As he took a step into the room, he saw the remains of the meal on the table, the wine bottle nearly empty, and you, with your head resting on the table, dozing off. His eyes scanned the details on the table in surprise: the elegant arrangement, the rose petals, the half-melted candles, and you sitting there in silence. Eddieâs expression changed rapidlyâsurprise, guilt, and a hint of panic flickered across his face.
He stepped quietly, trying not to disturb you, and approached you cautiously. "Sweetheart" he called softly, but as he saw your eyes fluttering open, he crouched down beside your chair. "What happened here? Are you⌠are you okay?" he asked, looking at you with concern.
You brought your hands to your face and groaned lightly, still groggy from sleep. For a brief moment, Eddieâs puzzled expression mingled with your own. But as the depth of your sadness and disappointment resurfaced in your mind, you let out a deep, sorrowful breath. "Why were you so late?" you murmured, your voice slightly cracked, tinged with a trace of reproach.
Eddieâs face grew more serious. "Iâm sorry⌠work ran late, and I lost track of time," he explained, raising his hands in helplessness. "But⌠whatâs all this? The table? The candles? Whatâs it for?"
Seeing how unaware he was only amplified the depth of your disappointment. You fixed your eyes on him, but for a while, no words came out. Eddie could sense that there was a storm brewing beneath your silence. "Whatâs wrong? Please, tell me," he said, more insistently this time, but still in a gentle tone.
Finally, you took a deep breath and spoke the truth. "Today was our anniversary, Eddie," you said, the words feeling as if they were stuck in your throat. "And you forgot." Your voice was calm, but the hurt it carried was enough to devastate Eddie. His eyes widened, his hands trembled for a moment, and deep regret etched itself onto his face.
âOh⌠no,â he whispered, rubbing his forehead with one hand. When he raised his eyes from the table back to you, it seemed as though he finally understood all your preparations, your effort, and ultimately, your broken heart.
"Sweetheart, Iâm so sorry. I forgot⌠no, how could I forget something like this?" he muttered, his voice cracking. But you turned your head away, avoiding his gaze.
Eddie stood before you, his face filled with remorse. Meanwhile, you avoided his eyes with a look that was both hurt and a little angry. You glanced briefly at the melted candles on the table, the empty wine bottle, and the darkened plates, then turned back to Eddie. As you tried to suppress your disappointment, his guilt-ridden expression only hurt you more.
"How could you forget something like this, Eddie?" you said, your tone now unrestrained in its hurt. "I mean⌠our anniversary⌠It was something special. And you..." You had done everything for him, planned the entire evening, but he⌠he had forgotten. This reality made you feel worthless.
Eddie took a deep breath and ran a hand through his hair as if trying to straighten his thoughts. "I know, youâre right. But work has been so busy, and I lost track of time. I could have called, yes. Butâ" he began, but you raised a hand to stop him.
"You lost track of time?" you snapped, your brows furrowed. "I planned the entire day, hour by hour. I set up the table, cooked the food, played your favorite playlist. But what did you do? You just showed up late. You didnât even call to let me know." Tears began to well up in your eyes, but you didnât want to appear weak in front of Eddie. So, you quickly wiped them away and took a deep breath.
Eddie spread his hands, his voice filled with regret but also tinged with helplessness. "Sweetheart, I didnât realize how important this was. If I had knownâ"
"If you had known?" you interjected, your voice rising. Eddie, with his usual calm demeanor, tried to absorb your anger, but that only made you more furious. "Eddie, this is our anniversary! How many times did we talk about it? How many times did you say, âLetâs go all out this yearâ? And what happened?" By the time you finished your sentence, you were nearly out of breath.
Eddie lowered his head, his gaze falling to the floor. It was a gesture he always made when he felt guilty. But instead of calming you, it only fueled your frustration. "Yes, I forgot," he finally said, his tone quiet and subdued. "And itâs entirely my fault. But⌠please, try to understand. Work⌠my mind has been all over the place. Thereâs just been so much going on..."
"Thereâs always an excuse, isnât there?" you said, getting up abruptly and pacing around the table. Eddie flinched slightly at your movement. "Eddie, just one day, just a few hoursâwas it so hard for me to be your top priority? Was it so impossible to set your work aside and put me first?"
Eddieâs eyes softened as he heard the slight tremor in your voice, but you were too angry to notice just yet. "I⌠I let you down, I know. But I donât want to make you feel unimportant. Because to me, youâre⌠everything," he said. However, his words werenât enough to soothe you in that moment.
"Yes, Eddie, and the person you call your 'everything' was left alone on an anniversary," you retorted. "How ironic, isnât it?" Your eyes filled with tears again, but this time, you chose to stay silent, not wanting to say anything you might regret. You sat back down and moved away from Eddie as he tried to reach for you.
Eddie took a deep breath and nodded slightly. "Look, youâre right. Youâre completely right. But please, give me a chance. Iâll make it up to you tonight. Just hear me out."
Eddie stepped closer. "Iâll do whatever it takes. I canât stand seeing you this upset," he said, placing his hands gently near yours.
In that moment, beneath your hurt, you still felt the love you had for Eddie. But you werenât ready to show it to him just yet. "Letâs see what youâll do, Eddie Munson," you murmured. "Itâs going to take a real miracle to make up for tonight."
Eddie tried to smile, but the guilt was still evident on his face. "Iâll make that miracle happen," he said with determination.
He paused for a moment, and a familiar mischievous smile appeared on his face. As you raised an eyebrow and looked at him skeptically, Eddie had already started heading toward the kitchen.
"Eddie, what are you doing?" you asked, following after him. But he was already in the middle of the kitchen, rummaging through the cabinets and opening and closing the fridge. When you saw a plate of chocolate, some flour, and milk on the counter, your eyebrows arched even higher.
"Iâm going to make something for you with my own hands. How about some chocolate pancakes?" he said, a hopeful expression in his eyes. You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms over your chest. "Chocolate pancakes at midnight? Eddie, seriously?"
"Yes, seriously. Iâll do whatever it takes to bring your smile back," he said as he started organizing the kitchen like a professional chef. You watched him, trying to keep the serious expression on your face, but Eddieâs clumsiness was mildly amusing. When a bit of flour ended up in his hair, you struggled to suppress a small smile.
As Eddie mixed the ingredients, your playlist continued playing in the background. When one of your favorite songs came on, Eddie stopped stirring and turned to you. "Okay, wait, isnât this our song?" he said excitedly, extending a hand toward you.
"What are you doing, Eddie?" you asked, trying to maintain your stern expression.
"Thereâs a way to make this better," he said, taking your hand. "Would you do me the honor of dancing with me, my lady? Letâs make the rest of this night a little brighter." "Eddie, werenât you making pancakes?" you asked, but he had already pulled you into the middle of the kitchen. As the song continued to play, Eddieâs warm hands found their way around your waist. "A quick break, then the pancakes will be ready," he whispered, spinning you gently.
At first, you hesitated, but you couldnât resist the affectionate look on Eddieâs face. Even the creaking sound of the old wooden floor beneath your feet as you moved to the rhythm somehow became endearing. "You canât win me over that easily," you murmured, but the way Eddie held you close softened your heart.
As the final notes of the song played, Eddie rested his forehead against yours. In his eyes, you saw a mix of regret and love. "Iâll do better for you. I promise," he said softly.
In that moment, you felt that Eddie was truly trying, that he genuinely wanted to make things right. The anger within you started to melt away, though you werenât ready to forgive him just yet. "If the pancakes are good, maybe Iâll consider it," you said with a small smile. Eddie immediately dashed back to the kitchen, grabbing the mixing bowl.
Five minutes later, Eddie returned to the table with a plate in hand. The pancakes werenât exactly masterpiecesâthey were a bit uneven and slightly overcookedâbut the chocolate sauce he had drizzled on top made them look sweet enough. As you sat down, you took the fork he offered you.
"This is the best I can do for now, but next time, Iâll whip up something worthy of a pastry chef. Promise," he said, watching intently as you took your first bite. Eddieâs eyes stayed on you, his expression a mix of nervousness and hope.
"Theyâre not bad," you said, taking another bite. Eddie exhaled deeply and burst out laughing. "Not bad? Thatâs the highest compliment Iâve ever received!"
As you chuckled lightly, Eddie walked around the table to sit beside you. "Seeing you smile like this⌠itâs worth the world to me," he said, taking a bite of his own pancake.
The night began to feel normal again. When Eddie offered his hand, you hesitated at first but then took it with a faint smile. "Eddie, you really are the most stubborn and sweetest man in the world, you know that, donât you?" you said. Eddie winked and pulled you back toward the living room.
Another song started playing from the playlist in the backgroundâthis one from the first night you two had danced together. Eddie gave you his signature mischievous look and gently pulled you closer.
"This song," he whispered, "reminds me of you. Every time I hear it, I think of that first night on the dance floor. You, in that red dress⌠and me, with too much hairspray and maybe a little drunk"
You chuckled softly at his words. âDonât be so hard on yourself; you were amazing that night,â you said. Eddie spun you gently and pulled you back into his arms, his eyes locked on yours.
âEvery night is amazing if it ends with you,â he added.
As you danced, Eddieâs hands moved from your waist to your back, drawing you closer to him. The intimacy of the moment slowly erased the tension left by your earlier argument. Near the end of the song, Eddie twirled you one last time but, instead of ending the dance, he did something unexpected: he took your hands and started leading you toward the front door.
âEddie, where are we going?â you asked, your voice laced with both surprise and curiosity.
âSurprise,â was all he said, that familiar mischievous glint lighting up his eyes. Before you could press him for more answers, he grabbed your coat and handed it to you, grabbing his own jacket before opening the door.
The cold night air brushed against your face, making you instinctively move closer to Eddie for warmth. âSeriously, Eddie, where are we going at midnight?â you asked again. He just smiled, guiding you toward his van.
Soon, you were driving down a quiet road leading out of Hawkins. Eddie kept glancing at you with a playful smile, his hand occasionally tapping the steering wheel in time with the music. Heâd restarted the playlist, making sure one of your favorite songs was playing to fill the silence.
Finally, he stopped the van near a small hillside. From there, the lights of Hawkins twinkled faintly in the distance like scattered stars. Eddie hopped out of the van, pulling a blanket from the back. Then, coming around to your side, he opened your door and held out his hand.
âThis placeâŚâ you began, but Eddie interrupted immediately.
âJust wait, okay? Everythingâs almost ready.â He spread the blanket on the ground and guided you to sit on it before returning to the van to grab a thermos and some snacks. Sitting down beside you, he handed you the thermos and gestured toward the view of the town below.
âSo, this might not be a grand anniversary gift,â he said, a touch of nervousness in his voice. âBut this place is special to me because, no matter how much I want to get out of this town, thereâs always one thing keeping me here. You. And I might have forgotten about tonight, but I could never forget you.â
His words made your eyes glisten with unshed tears. As always, Eddieâs sweet and heartfelt way of expressing himself struck a chord deep within you.
âAnd also,â he continued, pulling a small box from his back pocket, âI thought this might help make up for it. Itâs small, but itâs meaningful. I actually got it a while agoâŚâ
When he opened the box, inside was a necklace that was unmistakably Eddieâs style. The chain was delicate but stylish, with a small guitar charm hanging from it.
âThis represents us,â Eddie said as he carefully fastened the necklace around your neck. âEvery note is you and me.â
Your eyes shifted from the necklace to Eddie. âYouâre really going all out to make up for this, arenât you?â you said with a smile.
Eddie nodded and whispered, âBecause youâre worth it.â Under the lights of Hawkins, you stood beside Eddie, and the argument had melted into a warm harmony. âI think I can forgive you,â you finally said, resting your head on Eddieâs shoulder.
Eddie pulled you into a tight hug and chuckled softly. âI knew it.â The night ended under the stars, wrapped in the warmth of the blanket and the peace Eddie brought to your heart.

Can we get a Styles-Swift reader! imagine in honor of Liam Payne?
Steady Hands in the Storm
Pairing: Harry Styles x daughter!reader
Genre: slight angst into fluff
Warnings: kinda a heavy one but it has a happy ending
A/N YALL IM BACK Word Count: 7,243
The house was unusually quiet. The kind of silence that feels heavy, pressing down on every surface. You sat at the kitchen table, absentmindedly stirring a spoon through your cup of tea. It had gone cold a while ago, but you hadnât noticed. Not really. All your focus was on your father, who was sitting across from you.
He was hunched over, elbows on the table, his head in his hands. His curls looked messier than usual, like he hadnât bothered to tame them today. Youâd noticed the little things over the past few daysâthe way he moved slower, the way his smile didnât quite reach his eyes anymore. Even the way his voice sounded softer, like the energy had drained out of him.
You knew why, of course. The news had hit everyone hard. Liam Payne, your dadâs former bandmate, had passed away unexpectedly. And even though it had been years since One Direction had been a band, those boys were still family to him. Losing Liam felt like losing a part of himself.
âDad,â you said softly, your voice barely breaking the stillness.
He didnât look up, but you saw his shoulders tense slightly.
âDo you want to talk about it?â
âNo,â he mumbled, his voice hoarse.
You sighed, setting your spoon down with a soft clink. You knew him well enough to understand that he wasnât trying to shut you out. He just didnât know how to put what he was feeling into words.
So, you decided to try a different approach.
âDo you remember that time Liam came over for Christmas when I was, like, six?â you said, leaning back in your chair. âHe spent the whole day teaching me how to do a handstand in the living room. Mum was furious because we kept knocking over the decorations.â
That got a small huff of a laugh out of your dad, though he still didnât lift his head.
âI thought she was going to banish him from the house forever,â you added with a grin.
âHe kept apologizing every five minutes,â your dad muttered, finally looking up. His green eyes were red-rimmed, and you could tell he hadnât slept much. âBut then heâd just⌠try again. Said you were getting better every time.â
You smiled softly, nodding. âI did get better. All because of him.â
The room fell quiet again, but it didnât feel as heavy this time. You could see your dadâs shoulders relax a little, his hands falling to rest on the table.
âHe was so good with you,â Harry said after a moment. âAlways patient. Always kind.
You reached across the table, placing your hand over his. âHe loved you, Dad. All of you. I think you meant as much to him as he did to you.â
Your dad swallowed hard, his jaw clenching as he tried to keep his emotions in check.
âIt just⌠it doesnât feel real,â he admitted, his voice cracking. âI keep thinking Iâll wake up and⌠and heâll call or text, and itâll all have been some kind of awful dream.â
You squeezed his hand gently. âI know. But he wouldnât want you to carry this alone. Youâve always told me that grief is lighter when you share it.â
He gave you a faint smile, one that didnât quite reach his eyes but was a start.
âWhy are you so wise for a teenager?â he asked, his voice tinged with warmth.
You shrugged, trying to keep the mood light. âI get it from Mum. Obviously.â
That earned you a soft chuckle, and for a moment, it felt like the cloud hanging over the room lifted just a little.
Over the next few days, you made it your mission to help your dad through his grief, even if he didnât realize it. It was little things at firstâmaking sure he ate, suggesting you watch one of Liamâs favorite movies together, or putting on some music to fill the silence.
But as time went on, you noticed that your dad seemed to be retreating into himself more. Heâd spend hours in his studio, not working on anything, just sitting there with his guitar in his lap. Youâd find him staring out the window, lost in thought, or holding his phone like he was waiting for a call that would never come.
It broke your heart to see him like this, so you decided to take a more direct approach.
One evening, you found him in the living room, staring at an old photo album. You sat down next to him without a word, leaning against his shoulder as you looked at the pictures. Most of them were from his One Direction daysâgrainy selfies, group shots from concerts, and candids of the boys goofing around backstage.
âDid you ever think those days would end?â you asked softly.
He shook his head. âNot really. We were so young, so caught up in it all. It felt like it would last forever.â
âBut youâre still close,â you pointed out. âYou and Louis talk all the time. And Niall sends those ridiculous videos that make you laugh so hard you cry.â
He smiled faintly at that. âYeah. And Zayn⌠well, weâve reconnected a bit over the years. Itâs not the same as it was, but thereâs still love there.â
You nodded, flipping the page to a picture of Liam holding a microphone, his face lit up with a big, toothy grin. âHeâd be proud of you, you know. For everything youâve done. For the way youâve been there for everyone else, even when itâs hard for you.â
Your dadâs eyes filled with tears, and he quickly wiped them away, his hand trembling slightly.
âI just⌠I feel like I shouldâve done more,â he admitted. âChecked in more often, made more of an effort to keep in touch. Maybe if I had, things wouldâve been different.â
You shook your head firmly. âNo, Dad. You canât think like that. You loved him, and he knew that. Sometimes, life just⌠happens. Itâs not anyoneâs fault.â
He looked at you then, his eyes searching yours for some kind of reassurance. âHowâd you get so good at this?â he asked, his voice thick with emotion.
âYears of listening to your music,â you teased, earning a watery laugh from him.
A few weeks later, your dad had a concert scheduledâa big one, with thousands of fans waiting to see him. You werenât sure if he was ready to perform, but he insisted that the show must go on.
That night, as you stood backstage, you could feel the nervous energy radiating off him. He kept pacing, running his hands through his hair and mumbling to himself.
âDad,â you said, stepping in front of him to stop his pacing. âYouâve got this.â
He looked down at you, his green eyes wide and uncertain. âWhat if I break down in the middle of it? What if I canât do it?â
âYou will,â you said confidently. âBecause youâre doing this for him. And because heâd want you to.â
He took a deep breath, nodding slowly. âYouâre right. Youâre absolutely right.â
As the lights dimmed and the crowd erupted into cheers, your dad turned to you one last time. âStay close, yeah?â
âAlways,â you promised.
The concert started off strong, with your dad pouring his heart into every song. The crowd loved him, cheering and singing along to every word. But it wasnât until halfway through the set that he finally addressed the elephant in the room.
âThis next oneâŚâ he began, his voice shaking slightly. âThis next one is for someone very special to me. Someone whoâs no longer with us, but who will always be a part of my heart.â
The stadium fell silent, the weight of his words sinking in.
âI miss you, mate,â he said softly, his voice cracking. âThis oneâs for you.â
He started to play, his voice raw with emotion as he sang a song heâd written just for Liam. The lyrics were beautiful, filled with love and pain and memories of the friendship theyâd shared. By the time he finished, there wasnât a dry eye in the houseâincluding yours.
When he walked off stage, you were there waiting for him, your arms open wide. He pulled you into a tight hug, holding on like you were his lifeline.
âThank you,â he whispered, his voice thick with gratitude. âFor everything.â
You smiled against his shoulder, tears streaming down your face. âAlways, Dad. Always.â
In that moment, you knew that while the pain of losing Liam would never fully go away, your dad would be okay. Because he wasnât alone. He had you, and he had the love and memories of a bond that could never be broken.
And that was enough.
The End.

hii, can I request something based on this
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSL1YNSCU/?t=1
the reader is just mindlessly scrolling on her phone, and ellie is just a being little shit and annoying the reader cause she needs some ATTENTION ASAP !!!
it starts out as ellie peppers the reader with kisses innocently, and they accidentally (not rlly an accidentally đ) ended up in bed cuddling while naked đ
anon this tiktok couple drives me insane im so jealous theyre so cute i literally think about blocking them sometimes. the highway looking like a real good sleeping space rn!
warning: nsfw+fluff. THIS CAME OUT. NOT THE WAY IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. THERES NO CUDDLING BECAUSE I LOST MY MIND WRITING THIS AND ELLIE IS KIND OF MEAN AT THE END :( IM SO SORRY NONNIE đ¤
this ones gotta be an actual hammer. theres no way in hell they could make a cake this accura-
fuck. how is everything fucking cake? if these yellow crocs arent actual wearable shoes, you were going to sue tiktok user 0087fakeorcake.
scroll
ugh, a slime video. your favorite. this oneâs crunchy, too. and the color? a deep hypnotizing purple. it looked like a galaxy, far far away. you just went cross eyed.
âbabeâ ellies voice echoed through your shared apartment. a new one at that. the smell of fresh paint, new wooden furniture, and a pinch of familiarity. ellies punctured sock was laying on the floor like a modern piece of artwork at a funky museum, but were gonna ignore that for a second.
scroll
ooh! a kitten looking dapper with a bow tie! double tap.
âbabeâ she said, slightly raising the tone of her voice.
not now, ellie! you were just about to watch a target haul.
a small huff escaped her lips. how was she now jealous of an actual piece of metal squeezed between your hands. if you didnt look so cute concentrated, eyebrows furrowed while trying to read a conspiracy theory about the moon landing, she would have probably snatched your phone off of your hands by now.
she got slightly closer, and positioned herself between your legs. you didnt even acknowledge your sweet girl, too bothered reading stupid tiktok comments on a prank video.
âHAH!â you giggled, slightly sliding off the cream colored couch.
âyou have to see this one, elâ you exclaimed, voice filled with anticipation.
ellie hummed in response, and sat on the couch near you, manspreading as usual, slightly pushing you to the opposite direction with the spread of her knees. ellie didnt even want to see. she needed your attention now, or else shed die. quite literally die. a fish out of water.
she sighed dramatically, side eyeing you. if ellies facial expression had a name, it would be ânotice me! notice me!!! im your dramatic girlfriend and you havent given me a kiss on the cheek for over 2 hours and i feel sick!!!â
âi dont wanna seeâ she said dryly, voice slightly raspy from the spliff she had smoked 10 minutes near the open window - âcreepâ by radiohead playing in her headphones. sometimes, ellie couldn't help but despise how deeply music affected her. she would get lost in the lyrics, immersing herself in the melancholic tones of the guitar. in moments like these, she felt as if she were the protagonist in a radiohead music videoâ broody, hunched, and consumed by a cloud of introspection.
you shoved the phone in her face, your eyes glued to the screen.
the title of the video flickered on the screen. âthis is how dinosaurs sounded like⌠đŚ part 1 đŻâ
the room was suddenly filled with the jarring sounds of screeching and growls. despite the cacophony, you smiled dumbly, looking forward to her reaction. i mean, its fucking dinosaurs.
âniceâ ellie remarked in her trademark dry tone, laced with a hint of sarcasm.
that was so fucking cool, she thought. âcan you show me the second part?â âactually, triceratops probably didnt roar like that⌠theyd make more cooing like sounds, yâknow?â is what ellie would have said, if she werenât so lost in her dramatic performance of her tony award winning play - âmy gf is ignoring me therefore i must die immediately.â
âyoure annoyingâ you said, tsâking and reverting your gaze back to the screen. you pressed save on the video. you knew her so well.
âmânotâ she said, sighing dramatically. âyou are.â
âfineâ you mumbled under your breath. then, your attention quickly shifted. ooh! baby goats! you smiled brightly at the screen.
ellie stared at you. when she saw your stupid smile, she couldnt help but soften her gaze. why did you have to be so fucking cute, all hypnotized and shit. âyoure so annoyingâ she whispered, and planted a small kiss on your cheek.
you couldn't help but giggle at the ticklish sensation of her plump lips against your skin. you were kind of over the doom scrolling now, but fuck- if seeing your girlfriend try to win your attention didn't seem tempting. you pressed "like".
she kissed your cheek again, small huffs of breath leaving her mouth as her lips met your skin. âannoyingâ she hummed playfully, and planted more delicate kisses all over your cheeks. her hand intertwined with yours, and she kissed it as well.
âmmhmâ kiss. it tickled. âsoâ kiss. that one was wet. âannoyingâ kiss. her tongue was peaking out of her mouth. âandâ kiss. her hand was on your thigh. âlameâ kiss. that one was on your neck.
you attempted to stifle your smile, fighting the urge to toss the phone aside in a moment of playful frustration. however, your efforts were in vain as a giggle escaped your lips, unable to contain yourself.
âgot your attention now?â she said smugly, continuously planting small kisses on your neck. although your eyes were still glues to the screen, ellie knew she won. so, so predictable.
âno.. theres- this⌠video nowâ you said, stuttering slightly. what video? god knows.
âyeahâŚâ she murmured, her voice husky and brimming with satisfaction. âmâsure youre watchingâ she kissed your ear, making you let out a small whimper. âhas to be a good one, got you all giddy like thatâ so smug.
suddenly, she ended the cascade of kisses, and pulled away. you pouted. âshould i turn the AC on? you look kinda hotâ yeah, she knew you were flustered now. funny, she thought. after all this time together, you still couldnât help but flush whenever she got near.
âmâfineâ you murmured. you were not.
âno i thinkâŚâ she straddled you, her voice now a seductive whisper in your ear. âyou feel really hotâ she murmured, her warm breath sending shivers down your spine. âsure you dont have a fever?â she teased. âpoor thingâ
ânoâŚâ you giggled nervously, still scrolling, ignoring every single video on your feed. you were literally just moving your finger now, for no purpose at all. ellie chuckled.
âthink we need to get this off of youâ she suggested, her hand gradually inching up under your shirt, lightly tracing circles on your stomach.
âdont want you to get a heat strokeâ she teased. her skillful hand gradually removing the fabric from your warm body. it tangled with your phone. ellie couldnt help but let out a small laugh.
she couldve taken the phone off your hand and you wouldnt have resisted. but this⌠was so, so much more fun.
her hungry eyes roamed over the sight of your exposed bra, appreciating the beauty before her. with a gentle touch, she cupped your breasts, a soft grunt escaping her lips. "oof, babe... tits feel kinda hot too," she whispered into your ear, her warm breath sending tingles down your spine.
you couldn't help but giggle in between short, desperate breaths. âyeah?" you teased, still scrolling through another video on your phone, purposely avoiding eye contact with the girl straddling you.
"mhmm," she hummed approvingly, unclasping your bra. as the cold air brushed against your skin, causing goosebumps to rise, she couldn't help but feel a wave of hunger wash over her. the sight before her made her mouth nearly water, and yet, you remained engrossed in that damn phone.
ellie was pissed. she let out a small, frustrated whimper. she wasnt going to touch you until you threw that phone across the room. ball was in your court.
she crawled off of you. she planned on giving you a damn show. âmâkinda hot now tooâŚâ she murmured, feigning discomfort. âfuck- this apartment is like, scorching hot.â it was mid-december. the new apartment was⌠morgue-like cold sometimes.
she threw her shirt off to the back of the room.
your phone was invisible to you now. her toned stomach, muscled arms came into full view, leaving you breathless. fuck, she really was a fucking sight.
her eyes flickered over to you, a self-assured, cocky glint dancing within them. she let out a huff, her lips curling into a triumphant smile. she had you right where she wanted you.
âdidnt you have a video you needed to watchâŚ?â she teased. âlooked super importantâ she continued, smirking. you didnt respond, almost hypnotized by the sight in front of you. ugh, ellie.
âdont look at me, look at the screenâ she playfully teased once more. her voice carried a hint of seductive taunting. as if to further entice you, she flexed her muscles, the tantalizing display meant to captivate your gaze. she was a master of the tease, and she knew exactly how to make your attention sway in her direction.
she crawled back to you. âgo look at your dumb vlogsâ she whispered into your ear, causing a shiver to run down your spine. your eyes rolled back in response to her words. "keep going," she commanded with a smirk, claiming your compliance. as a final tease, she planted a tantalizing kiss on your neck, sucking the skin. she made sure you felt her wet tongue, felt what you were missing. your breaths were becoming raggedy now.
ellie continued her crawl, moving further down your body. âjust like thatâ she murmured when you bucked your hips forward. her needy, needy girl. her fingers skillfully unbuttoned your jeans, swiftly removing them along with your panties in one smooth motion. the cool air caressed your bare skin, causing you to flinch.
a small whimper escaped your lips.
âwhatâŚ?â she cooed, planting soft, wet kisses on your exposed thighs, looking at you with a hungry gaze.
did you really think she was going to give it to you, after youve ignored her for so fucking long? ellie rolled her eyes, and broke the string of kisses. you stared at her, and fuck, she couldnt have looked more cocky.
she got on her knees, not breaking eye contact. she looked so fucking mean.
ânoâ she exclaimed, as if she could read your mind. she knew exactly what you wanted.
she took off her boxers in one swift motion and threw them.
at your face.
âget that fucking phone to fuck you.â

"A lot of people ask me how Harry Styles ended up recording at my house when we'd virtually never crossed paths before. It was actually Taylor (Swift) who kind of set the whole thing up. They spoke at the Grammys last year and she apparently gave him my number so we could work together...He called and asked if I was available to help with his album at all. At the time I was on the road, then working on stuff for the band, and it just kind of went back and forth for a few months while we tried to line up our schedules. Then I was done touring, but I was kind of in a weird state in life where I didn't want to leave the house or hang out with anyone. And I remember making up excuses because I wasn't really up to making myself presentable to a whole team of people I'd never met before and having our first meeting be this huge thing. I'd basically built it all up in my head about how our ideas would clash and we wouldn't get along and I just kept telling him maybe some other time. Long story short, Harry showed up at my place a week later by himself with just a guitar, a notebook, and my favorite takeout order. We spent the whole day together working on a bunch of different stuff from themes to genres of music to sampling and mixing. And writing. Lots and lots of writing. And now he's a dear friend. He's so sweet and so talented. I wish him all the best with the new album."
y/nfan8: ok i'm glad it worked out and everything but imagine a virtual stranger showing up to your HOUSE?? like she said no and he basically forced her to write his album for her
y/nfan4: that's so real of her tbh to not want to leave her house
y/nfan2: y/n is notoriously introverted it makes sense
harryfan13: girl...
y/nfan7: i don't think it was that serious. and if she really didn't want him there she could've said no
harryfan13: and y/n literally called him a friend?? stop trying to start shit that doesn't exist
y/nfan7: of COURSE mother brought them together
harryfan17: i can't believe that's what harry and taylor were talking about in the video!
harryfan2: chill harry doesn't need to be in a relationship with every woman he's associated with
harryfan4: wait but wasn't y/n at that grammys too?
harryfan9: it was still covid it's possible their paths didn't cross
y/nfan19: wait what if he was too shy to go up to her??đ
harryfan4: i love that they're writing besties now but i think they'd be so cute together đĽš

hsupdates: Harry about Y/n L/n for Rolling Stone:
"I've always admired (Y/n's) work. She and her band are incredibly talented, and are just so passionate about creating music. I wanted that same energy for my third album, the freedom to make whatever I want without any reservations, and I knew Y/n was the perfect addition to the team. It took some convincing, but once we kind of got started, we couldn't stop. As we've gotten to know each other these past few months, I not only respect her as a musician, but for the person she is as well. Her soul is one of a kind, and I feel like my album would be so different without her on it. So now not only do I have an album that I'm proud of and love, but I got an extraordinary friend out of it too."
harryfan9: so this is what people mean when they say platonic soulmates
y/nfan12: all we've gotten is crumbs and i'm already in love with their friendship. and the album of course
y/nfan2: i'm so interested to hear this album now. if y/n is on it it has to be good

y/nfan2: i bet they collaborated on this song together
Interviewer (I): What's one memory or experience you can share from making this album? Any trips to Japan or Jamaica?
Harry (H): We stayed in Los Angeles mostly for this one. But erm...in terms of a specific memory...I would say that while I was working with Y/n, one of the tracks was actually inspired by her cat.
I: Really?
H: Yeah. Whenever it did something to annoy Y/n, which was quite often, she'd call her a little freak. The song's obviously not about the cat, but the phrase was in my head and yeah. Things just kind of...snowballed from there.
I: The sound that Y/n's band has is more rock centric, a similar sound to your first album. Is that what we can expect for your third studio album?
I: You've become quite close to Y/n L/n it seems like.
H: Not necessarily. Y/n and I collaborated, but she also let me take the reins in terms of sound. She had opinions of course and we would bounce ideas off of each other...but she really just followed my lead and supported the vision I had. She is playing a majority of the instruments on the album, though.
H: It's hard not to.
I: How so?
I: It sounds like you could go on for quite some time about her.
H: She's just cool, you know? I was kind of intimidated when we met for the first time. She's quiet, but you never forget that she's in the room, you just want to go over and talk to her. Of course once you meet her she's incredibly kind and not at all intimidating, but still like chill and stuff. The first time we met we sat for an hour just talking about music we enjoyed and live shows we wanted to attend and things we learned while in lockdown. She's just effortlessly cool. An old soul, I guess. And somehow she translates that into her music. Her sisters, too. They're all just first-rate musicians.
H: Sorry. I kind of gushed for a minute there.
H: And the band. They're just so talented, you know?

I: How did that come about? Did your team call his team? Or was it more casual than that?
Y/n: Oh, definitely more casual. I think we were just hanging out together one morning and he kind of just suggested it. No bells and whistles or anything like that.
I: So can we expect (Your band) to join Harry on his upcoming tour, then?
Y/n: I don't think so. We're working on putting out a record of our own at the moment, but we do want to get back out on the road soon, but I will definitely be attending more of his shows in the future.
I: And what can we expect from this upcoming record? Did Harry help you the way you helped him out?
Y/n: I've sent him a couple things to listen to, and I value his opinion a lot, both as a friend and as an artist. He also showed me a couple records recently which kind of influenced how I approached some of the songs sonically. He's got a huge vinyl collection at his house. I'm honestly kind of jealous.
I: There's been some rumors running around that you and Harry are in a romantic relationship. Would you like to put any of those rumors to rest?
Y/n: I could see where people might think that. Harry's very affectionate by nature, and over the last couple of months we've become very close. He's not just someone I admire in the music industry, but as a person in general. I feel incredibly lucky to call him a friend. And a close one, at that.
I: So just a friend then?
Y/n: Yeah. Yeah, just a friend.

A/N: hi! this is like my first time ever to post after half a year :[ I'm so sorry!

âHe was panicking inside a little bit, poor boy. You always shared everything with him and always liked everything you came in contact with so it's impossible to narrow everything in to one.
âHe was rummaging through his things when a magazine with a guitar picture imprinted on it flew on top of his head, that gave him an idea.
"Inumaki, here's the thing you asked for..!"
"salmon"
"Is it for (Y/N)..?!"
"salmon"
"Ohh, didn't know you were that romantic!"
"bonito flakes!"
âHe gave you a guitar pick he customized himself, he always loved how your voice sounded and the way you strang the guitar's strings. He badly wanted to tell you how your voice is so angelic.
đđđŁđđ˘đ đđđŁđŠđ¤ â
âKento is an old fashioned guy, romantic I might say. He didn't find it hard to give you the gifts that would make your heart squeeze.
âHe pondered on how you always seemed to like flowers but he already gave you one last time so he found a way to give you one but with a twist.
"Is this all the flowers, sir..?"
"Yes but I have a question in mind"
"May I hear it..?"
"Do you mind teaching me about flower arrangements? I can pay for the lesson"
"Oh..no need sir! I am willing to teach you so"
âWhat he made isn't exactly the best (in his opinion) but the effort, time, and love he put in to them is more than enough to make you happy.
đđđŁđđŁ đđđ đ â
âShe didn't really specialize in this kind of things since picking one always ends up in a calamity. She remembered how she gave you a weapon once as a gift.
âShe was about to head out when a paper slipped past infront of her. It was one of your sketches of her.
"Oh no, I'm out of paper in my sketchbook..!"
"I'm not surprised, you're always sketching every second"
"How can I not when you're so pretty to draw"
"..."
"It's true..!"
âMaki gave you another sketchbook, a thicker one where it would take awhile to ran out of paper. She secretly likes it when you draw her.
đđ đ đ¤đŠđ¨đŞ đđŞđŠđ â
âHe almost forgot! probably because of how stressed he was and was worrying about what you would've liked.
âHe asked Maki for advice! he thought that since you're both girls, she might be able to help pick one for you!
âThey were both chaotic as hell, Maki even teased him a little bit when Yuta finally saw the 'perfect' gift.
"Yutaaaa! this is so adorable...!"
"I'm sorry, it was kind of rushed and-"
"No..! I like it and it's the best, I can now have something to cuddle with"
"That kind of hurts, I'm here you know..."
"Well..."
"Hey..!"
"I'm kidding..! I have an exception for you!"
âHe gave you a plushie of your favorite animal, he once saw you admiring principal Yaga's cursed corpses and recalled how you wanted one of them! it was not as cool as the ones imbued with curse energy but it was special to you nonetheless.

What kind of nu metal music fits Les's band?
First of all I gotta clarify that I sent this ask myself because I accidentally lost the original through constant editing and drafting. I realize I could just make a regular text post but I'm quirky like that, and a question is a nice little attention grabber for those who are interested.
Anyway...
It's hard to point at one song and say this is their sound, because A: I'm picky, B: the band's style changes over time, and C: I don't know what I'm doing lmao
This answer is very long uhh I don't seem to be able to form short responses, mi scusi đ
Back at home the brothers' music and then also the first year on the road with Flea the band sounds like the albums Music and especially Grassroots by 311. (Grassroots is such a banger of an album, I listen to it all the time, really recommend.)
Hed's the main influence on the band's sound because he's the main vocalist, songwriter and overall the most invested in the band succeeding (Les's main concern is making ends meet, and Flea is just enjoying the ride lol). At the start Hed and Les have had basically no contact with Rock Trolls so even though they're both more metal/punk than regular rock, their "rock side" is softer at this point. Hed also grew up with hip hop because of his peers so there's a lot of rapping in his lyrics. And he also incorporates reggae into his style a lot because of his favorite uncle, Kymani (one of the guys who live with Ish) who is a Reggae Troll. Hed is pretty much a sponge when it comes to music, much like Floyd. The closest I can come to describing his genre is a fusion of Rap Metal and Reggae Rock which are both already fusion genres jskksdjsk
(The band 311 has two singers and oddly they both sound like Hed and Les to me. SA Martinez (the higher of the two voices) sounds 100%, exactly like how I've imagined Hed's voice in my head. For Les I have a different voice claim because Les's personal style of music is much different from the band, but Nick Hexum (the lead vocalist here) is still in the second place when it comes to voice alone. Imagine my enthusiastic surprise finding voices for both brothers in the same band đ)
examples from the two albums:

...
While driving around and performing small gigs they come in contact with the alternative and nu metal scene and meet a lot of Rock Trolls (mostly various Metal Trolls) and other mixed trolls, and in the following couple of years their sound gradually becomes heavier (Hed rediscovers screamo lol) and they go from rock to metal.
A year into their "touring" is also around the time Hed meets and starts dating Liv and gets her to join the band. Liv's genre has the heaviest sound of all of them (Industrial/EBM), which influences Hed and the band too. And with Liv on the drums, Hed takes over DJ-ing and is also able to put more focus on the vocals, which also makes Les step down and only sing backing vocals with the rest of the band if needed.
The band in this era sounds like the album Revolution by Insolence and to some degree Introduction to Mayhem by Primer 55.
examples from the albums:

...
Two years into the bands existence is when Floyd runs into them. At first he's more just standing there, observing their practices and performances warily, because he's had bad experiences with Rock Trolls in his one year alone and metal music still kinda freaks him out at this point. But he soon starts joining in in melodic parts and then it progresses into him singing longer and longer segments because he has the strongest vocals of everyone. And once he saves enough of his earnings for a guitar he starts playing the rhythm guitar too. (The guitar he took with him when he left the Troll Tree got stolen before he met the band.)
I guess I should clarify: Flea is the lead guitarist, Les is the bassist, and Liv and Hed switch on the drums and DJ-ing depending on the track. At one point they also get a keyboard.
It's also not that long before Hed and Floyd start actively writing songs together, sharing each others notes, and they start to split the singing parts more evenly. Hed even teaches Floyd screamo techniques, because he thinks Floyd has a great voice for them (He is correct, Floyd has a mean scream đ).
During this time the band still pretty much sounds like Revolution by Insolence but with more melodic singing parts from Floyd (and screaming/shouting lmao). I think Verge of Umbra is another good band to compare, it sounds more clean and Floydy but still Hedy. (Man, I should write scientific research papers skjdkjf)

From here on out I'm a bit unsure how the band's sound develops, but I'm pretty sure Floyd would unintentionally infect them with a mild case of radio friendliness (Pop trolls can't help their in your face nature lmao đ). So for now I'm stopping here...
This took me days of searching and writing so I would appreciate to hear any thoughts you have if you've come this far and given some of the songs a listen. :)

@oknutzy-week-2024 day four!!!
Write Me In
Part Two
Leo tried very hard not to be early. He really did. Then he ended up walking around Finn and Loganâs block about six times and sweating in the heat. He was stupid. He should have just worn a t-shirt. From what it sounded like, they were only just waking up. He didnât need to be in this dark blue button down.
When it finally hit two oâclock, Leo let himself walk into the lobby. The doorman looked up and called him by his name, taking Leo by such surprise that he had to stutter through a yes, sir as if he was back home in New Orleans.
âMr. OâHaraâs expecting you,â the man said. âYou can go right up.â
The elevator was all mirrors and gold and Leo tried to make himself look slightly less sweaty and nervous than he felt as it roseâand rose. Penthouse. He should have known. He swept his blond hair back. At least in the AC he felt coolerâif not a little flushed looking. His shirt hid any sweat and he had his laptop and recorder this time. This would be a proper interview. Heâd make sure of it. After all, this was his dream.
The doors dinged open. Leo had thought heâd have a few more moments. Heâd get to walk down a hallway, knock on the door.
But no. One moment he was in the small elevator, and the next he was stepping directly into a massive, open living room. It was beautiful, too. The couch was a huge low-backed leather U. A coffee table that looked like it had once been a cross section of a massive tree was covered in notebooks and a laptop. A dining room table that could hold ten rested just on the other side of the room beneath a papery light that looked more like a sculpture. To its left sat an actual bar, complete with six stools, shelves of backlit bottles, and beer taps. The wall beyond was pure window and the afternoon light slanted in. Leo didnât see a TV, but apartments like these usually had them concealed somehow. Maybe a projector screen waiting to drop down. Maybe there was a theater room. He knew a lot of artists had recording studios right at home. Who knew how big this place was.
It was also perfectly quiet. Leo didnât hear a sound. He felt like he was an intruder as he hesitantly stepped out of the elevator and listened to it slide shut behind him. Maybe he shouldâve taken his shoes off? The rug beneath the couch was pure white and plush, and the hardwood floors beyond that were honey-colored and gleaming. Four guitars sat along one wall. Beyond the huge dining table, there was a grand piano.
How many of Leoâs favorite songs had been written in this room?
âKind of freaks me out sometimes.â
Leo jumped and turned at the voice, only to find Finn standing there in running shorts and a t-shirt that said The Strand Bookstore. He held a sleek gray ceramic mug.
âThe windows, I mean,â Finn said with a smile. âI always worry about them cracking. Sometimes they rattle during storms.â
âThatâsâŚunsettling,â Leo said.
âYeah, Lo hates it.â
Finn looked, yes, a little sleep-rumpled. His red hair looked like it had been styled for a photoshoot to be messy though, not like it was actually slept on. Unfair, Leo thought. His hair was a wreck in the morning. Heâd been right about not needing his button-down, though. He badly wished he was in a t-shirt and that heâd worn sneakers instead of these pinching dress shoes.
âWhat a beautiful place, though,â Leo said. âThatâs quite a view.â
Finnâs eyes wandered behind him out the window. âYeah, I like to see the city.â He held up his mug. âWell, Loâs fucking grumpy when he wakes up, but coffee helps. Can I get you some? I was going to order some breakfast, too.â
âOh. Sure.â
Finn smiled and jerked his head in a way that Leo guessed meant follow me.
The kitchen was no less impressive. There were huge marble counters, slightly iridescent. A complicated looking espresso machine. Massive silver appliancesâfridge, wine fridge, dishwasher, three ovens. God, what Leo could do in this kitchen.
âWow.â Leo turned in a slow circle. âDo you like to cook?â
Finn laughed. Heâd gone over to the coffee potâprobably the simplest thing in here. âIf I was ever home long enough to try, I might.â
All this, and no one was even home to use it.
âAnd Loganâs hopeless,â Finn said. âHe can make tea.â
Leo laughed. âRight.â
âDo you take milk or sugar?â
âA little milk,â Leo said, and accepted the mug. âThank you.â
Leo sipped the coffee. It was good. Strong and nutty. It calmed him a little to hold something warm. Finn had poured the perfect amount of milk in.
âHeâll be up in a second. Or Iâll go get him.â Finn looked a little bashful. âIt takes us a while toâwind down after a show, we usually donât get to sleep until around three or four.â
After a show. Leo could see them still, pressed up against the wall in Finnâs dressing room. What the hell did wind down mean in this sentence?
âNo worries,â Leo said. âWhere um. Where do you guys go next?â
Are you dating your drummer? Is your drummer dating you? Do you think of him as your drummer? Or Lo? Are you best friends like you make the world believe? Are you just fucking? Are you in love?
He took a sip of coffee.
âBoston,â Finn said. âWe just came back from the West Coast. Then we have about a month off before we go to Paris. Then London, then Irelandâyou get the idea.â
âIt must be fantastic to see all those places.â
I had your poster on my wall. You got me through some of my toughest times in high school. I canât believe Iâm seeing your smile this close up.
âIt is when we have days off,â Finn said. âBut mostly itâs just a grind.â
âBut if you had to choose a favorite city?â
âRome,â Finn said instantly.
âYou wrote your most recent album there,â Leo said.
âYeah.â Finn smiled down at his mug. âYeah.â
âLeo,â Finn he said suddenly before Leo could ask another question.
Leo straightened up. Finn OâHara just said his name. âYeah?â
âI knowâŚâ Finn smiled a little. âWe both know what you saw in my dressing room last night.â
Leo had been wondering if this would come up. Or, how, really. Finn pushed his hair back and Leo watched the strands feather forward again. He had a flush to his cheeks.
âWe do,â Leo said softly. âIâm so sorry about that. Your teamâone second I was following someone and the next I was at your doorââ
Finn nodded sharply and Leo stopped talking. He messed with his hair again. âItâs not your fault. Iâm justâwhat Iâm trying to askââ Finnâs eyes went somewhere behind Leo and he smiled. âFinally. He lives.â
Leo turned towards a doorway he hadnât noticed beforeâit must lead to the bedroomsâto find Logan shuffling into the room wearing nothing but a pair of white socks and tight, grey boxer shorts.
Leo choked on his next sip and hurried to put the mug down. God, how could Finn not be dating that? There on Loganâs hip was that tattoo. The fleur-de-lis. Right there, real, not a photograph. It was slightly lower than Leo had thought.
âSalut,â Logan said. His voice was hoarse. âSorry. Iâm notâŚâ he looked at Finn and put on what Leo guessed was a try at Finnâs American accent. âa morning person.â
âThat you arenât,â Finn agreed. âEven if itâs nearly three in the afternoon.â
âHi,â Leo cleared his throat. âI mean, good morning.â He looked at Finn and pointed to his mug. âDo I need a coaster?â
Finn looked back at him quietly for a moment. He had a tilt to his head and a slight smile on his face. âNo.â
âOkay. Itâs just that sometimes marble stains so I wanted to check. I read this article about different ways of protectingâI mean, not that I have marble counters. But I definitely would like some. Theyâre beautiful. This is a beautiful kitchen.â
What the hell was he talking about?
âIâm glad someone appreciates it. We certainly donât,â Finn said. He took down another mug from a cupboard and Leo watched as he poured the coffee, lots of milk, and even more sugar into a mug before passing it to Logan, whose fingers had been drumming idly on the counter while he waited.
The lyrics to Lucky Me popped into Leoâs head.
Let me fill you up with sugar, let me drown in sweet and sweat.
He looked at Logan and found him already watching Leo over the rim of his cup.
âWell, I donât want to take up too much of your time. So, maybe, um. Maybe once youâre ready we canââ
Logan cut him off. âArenât you supposed to follow us around twenty-four-seven for a week?â
Leo swallowed. Oh. âOh. Yes. Yeah, no, I am. I justâŚI want this to be as comfortable for you as possible. I donât want to feel like an intrusion. Iâm here for whatever your normal life entails.â
âRight nowâŚâ Finn was scrolling on his phone. âThatâs breakfast burritos.â
Leo quickly figured out that Logan made him nervousâmore than Finn. His green eyes were intense, to say the least, where Finnâs were almost unbearably gentle. Leo had thought that was all for the cameras, a look designed to be photographed. But Finn seemed to look at everyone like that. Logan, definitely. The doorman who brought up their breakfast when it arrived. Even Leo.
Finn also responded to Loganâs movements like he was just an extension of his own body. It would be impressive if Leo didnât think it was so sweet. He arranged the sauces Logan liked in front of him, took out the bacon from his burrito and put it on his own plate, all before Logan even had time to sit down. The smile Finn received from Logan in return felt private. Intimate, even. Loganâs entire face changed when he looked at Finn. It opened up. He looked younger.
It went right back to guarded when he looked at Leo.
âAll right,â Finn said after he set down water bottles for the three of them. They were sitting at a little table in a nook off the kitchen that Leo hadnât seen before. Finn and Logan were side by side, across from him. Leo had his burrito and coffee to one side of him, and his laptop and recorder set up on the other. Finn snapped a mocking finger gun towards him. âShoot.â
Leo hesitated. It didnât seem like Finn was going to finish what he had been about to say to Leo. Possibly ask Leo not to write about what heâd seen? Heâd stopped hard when Logan had walked in. Leo was slowly getting the sense that what heâd seen was much more than a kiss.
Maybe that was what was behind all of the looks Logan was giving him. Fear.
âWell,â Leo said, brushing crumbs off his hands. He cleared his throat. âOkayââ They were both looking at him expectantly. Well, Finn looked expectant. Logan looked a little wary. Leoâs resolve dropped. âI just want you to know that I wonât write or publish anything that you donât approve first.â
There. That seemed like the easiest way.
The two of them exchanged a glance.
âIsnât that a given?â Logan said flatly.
âIt is,â Leo said. âBut I still want it to be said first.â
He made himself hold Loganâs gaze. His eyes looked vividly green in the kitchen light.
No, you donâtâsay muchâbut I readâyour touch. You fallâI sighâOh myâgreen eyes.
âOh,â Leo said out loud.
âWhat?â
Just slowly realizing that itâs possible you two only write songs about each other?
âNothing,â Leo said. âWhy donât we begin with how you two found yourselves in a band together?â
âPeople already know this,â Logan said.
Leo smiled. âYes, people do know this, but Iâm not going to use someone elseâs quotes in my story.â
Finn stretched his arm out across the back of the breakfast nookâs bench, behind Loganâs back. Would that have been around his shoulders if Leo hadnât been here?
âWe met in high school, started the band there. Then we had a falling out but we both got into Harvard,â Finn said. âWe were matched randomly as roommates.â
It was a smooth, well-practiced answer to the absolutely wild story that Leo had heard before. It left no room for further questions.
âMust have been a shock.â Leo wanted to ask what the fight in high school had been about, but he didnât think the room was nearly warm enough for that yet. âOr fate?â
âI like fate,â Finn said. Logan kept his eyes down. âI mean, look at us now.â
Leo kept the easier career and life questions going for the next couple hours, then they took a break. It was getting closer to five oâclock and Logan went to take a shower. Leo was preparing to go back out into the summer heat, just to give them some breathing room, when Finn picked up his guitar and began asking him questions.
âSo, do you even like our music?â
Leo gasped. âOh my God.â
Only at the surprised, maybe delighted, look on Finnâs face did he realized heâd completely dropped any professionalism right there. It was all Leo could do not to slap a hand over his mouth. Besides, Finn OâHara was sitting in front of him, plucking some gorgeous little melody out on a guitar Leo happened to know heâd had since he was sixteen, and smilingâhe could probably afford to let his guard down a little.
âIâve loved your music since your first album,â Leo said. âAnd Rooftop is my favorite song in the world.â
âRooftop,â Finn repeated softly. His fingers were still moving on the strings and Leo was trying not to stare. They were strong and quick. Subtly, the unfamiliar melody shifted into Rooftop.
âOh,â Leo said, not bothering to pretend not to watch anymore. âIâve never heard it on the guitar.â
âWhy is that song your favorite?â Finn asked. He didnât sound hurt exactly, but something like it. Brittle, maybe. âJust⌠Most people like the upbeat stuff more. At least thatâs what Iâm always being told.â
âWellâŚâ Leo cleared his throat. âThe way you talk about how sometimes it feels like youâre just barely holding on by your fingertips to something you want. Thatâs true for a lot of people I think. Waiting for someone who isnât waiting for you back.â He thought of Loganâs eyes on him in Finnâs dressing room last night, Finnâs mouth on his neck. âOr maybe they are and just didnât know it yet, I donât know. But I listen to it all the time.â
Finn was leaning forward a little in his seat, listening.
Leo smiled and looked down. âI mean, I like the upbeat stuff, too. But yeah.â
âWeâre around the same age, arenât we?â
âIâm a few years younger than both of you.â
âBack then, I always thought it was just, like, twelve year old girls listening. Not that anything is wrong with twelve year old girls, but when youâre seventeen you donât exactly wantâŚâ Finn winced. âPlease donât quote me on any of this.â
Leo laughed. âNo, I understand. But also, no, it wasnât just twelve year old girls. And it certainly isnât now. At yesterdayâs showâitâs incredible the range of people you captivate.â
Finn shrugged a little and switched back to the melody he was playing earlier.
âCan I ask what that is?â Leo nodded to the guitar.
âYou can.â Finn huffed out a laugh. âBut Iâm not sure yet.â
âAh. So, Iâm watching the secret process right now.â
âYou are. Gotta warn you, though, sometimes itâs like watching paint dry.â
âWhatâs the fastest time youâve ever written a song in?â
Finnâs fingers fumbled, just for a moment. He looked out towards the windows, the city and sun. It was beginning to lower in the sky now.
âOh,â he said softly. âAbout twenty minutes, I guess.â
Leo opened his mouth to ask what song it was, but stopped. Now Finn looked hurt. Sad. The guitar seemed to drink the feeling in. Leo heard him slip new minor chords into the notes, a tumbling, beautiful sound. Then he was suddenly playing Rooftop again.
âWould you like a cocktail?â Finn asked suddenly.
Leo looked over at the beautiful bar. âI think anyone would want a cocktail at that counter.â
Finn smiled. He settled the guitar on the couch and stood. âItâs gorgeous, isnât it? I had it custom made for the space. Usually I wouldnât give a shit, Iâm never home, but Iâve always wanted to do it.â He went behind the bar. âAlso. You can help with something. Lo and I are always at a bit of a impasse.â Finn put a hand to his own chest. âI like to taste the alcohol. Logan wonât touch anything that doesnât taste like someone dumped a load of frosting into it.â
âSo, heâs a sweet tooth.â
âOh-ho yeah. Understatement. You know that edible cookie dough? Take a look in our fridge.â
I watch you fill your cup with sugar.
Finn read that thought clear as day. He bit his lip, elbows on the bar. âYouâre putting us together a little bit, huh?â
âI wonât put anything together you donât want me to.â
Finn glanced in the direction Logan had disappeared to.
âYouâre under no obligation to explain it to me. I should have knocked loud and clear.â
âNo, weâŚWeâve talked.â Finn fixed him with intent brown eyes. âWeâve talked. We love each other andâŚâ
So they are in love, Leo thought triumphantly.
âItâs just that we donât know what comes next.â
âI understand,â Leo said. âReally. JustâŚâ Leo set his hands in front of him, trying to pour truth into his words. âIâm not here to, like, drag anything out of you. Iâm here about your music, thatâs my job, thatâs what I love to write about. If what you two feel for each other is something that is not only important to that but that youâd like to tell me about, thatâs wonderful. If not, thatâs wonderful. And we also donât have to decide now. Okay? Please donât feel like you have to tip toe around me or my pen.â
Finn was looking at him with a slight smile on his face. He gave a small nod.
âAnd please tell Logan that, as well,â Leo said. Leo wasnât sure heâd get those sentences out as smoothly under Loganâs gaze.
âOkay.â Finn swept his hand out towards the shelves behind him. âGin? Whiskey? Tequila? Rum?â
âRum,â Loganâs voice said from behind Leo. He appeared a moment later. His wet hair was combed back and out of his face, his skin flushed from the showerâs heat. He wore a dark green t-shirt, stretched across his strong chest and gray sweatpants. In his hand was a pair of drumsticks.
âWell, I wasnât asking you,â Finn said. âLeo, please. I can make anything.â
Logan slid onto the stool beside him. âItâs true, heâs very good.â
âIâll have whatever youâre having,â Leo said.
Finn gave his head a hard shake and hit his hands down on the bar. âNope. I want to know what you want.â
Finn ended up fixing the two of them gin martinis. He gave Logan his rum and coke with, to Leoâs surprise, a kiss to Loganâs hand. Logan blushed, glanced at Leo, but didnât pull away. He took his drink and his drumsticks over to a stool where a muted, practice kit was set up and began tapping out rhythms. This was not what Leo had been expecting when he took this job. He expected it to be wilder, like some of the pure and chaotic party scenes heâd been apart of when following musicians around before.
Night Swimming was soft. Domestic, even. Finn and Loganâs wildness on stage melted away into something tender. Finn brought out cheese and crackers and sliced apple and, as Leo sank into the massive comfy couch, he found that as the sun set, he wasnât asking questions anymore. They were, the three of them, simply talking.
~
âSo, so, so,â Cassieâs voice said in Leoâs AirPods. âHowâs it going, youâre four shows in now you lucky duck.â
âThat I am,â Leo said, looking around his Boston hotel room. Tonight was Finn and Loganâs third and final Boston show and Leo was basically in seventh heaven. Maybe they were all in hotel rooms now and he missed their cozy apartment a bit, but he couldnât complain. He got to write about his favorite band and watch them perform every night?
And hear about their love. More and more. During their time after the show, at dinners, in dressing rooms, in Finn or Loganâs suitesâand there was a suite for each of them even if it seemed like they only used one. During those times, they told Leo things. Little details about them, not as singer and drummer or best friends, but as a couple. Leo could feel the difference. He didnât know why exactly he was being allowed to know these things when no one else did, but he let them give what they wanted to give.
âItâs good,â he told Cassie, but his mind filtered through what good was. Good was knowing how far Finnâs voice stretched as he warmed up in his dressing room. It was alone and strong. They were just scales and the occasional lyrics, but Leo could have listened all day. He also dropped to the ground and did rounds of push-ups which, while unexpected, wasnât horrible to watch.
âI have to say though, Iâm not entirely sure what happens next.â
âWhat do you mean?â Cassie asked.
Leo popped another salt and vinegar chip into his mouth. âWell, theyâre going on vacation. Somewhere. Theyâve got a month off before theyâre back on tour, so Iâm not sure why the magazine scheduled me for now. Itâs not a full week before they leave.â
âWell, your week will be basically up. Iâm sure youâre not expected to go on vacation with them.â
âNo, no, I know that,â Leo said. Damn, he thought. âIâll justâI have closing things I need. Want. Hope to ask.â
Cassie was quiet for a long minute. âWell. Better hop to it, I guess.â
~
âWill you hold this? Finnâs busy.â
Leo looked up from his notebook to see Logan holding out one end of what looked like an exercise band. He was dressed for the stage already. Black jeans, black tank top tonight. His hat had a Bruins logo on itâsometimes he did that. Matched his hat to the city. In New York, heâd been wearing Finnâs Rangers hat a lot and Finn had expressed his disgust at the switch many times. Leo had put it in the story.
âSure.â Leo set his pen down. âWhat do you want me to do?â
âJust hold this steady.â Logan put one end of the band into Leoâs hand. âI like to warm up.â
Leo still didnât quite know what that meant, but he did what he was told.
Turned out it meant getting a front row seat to the flex of Loganâs arms and wrists as he pulled the band in different directions and angles.
Suddenly, two hands appeared on his shoulders. âHi. Would you like some tea?â
Leo held the band tighter while craning his head back to look behind him. Finn appeared to him, half upside down at this angle. âIâYes. Sure, thank you.â
Finn smiled, squeezed once, then let go. âHowâs the writing going?â
âGood.â That was half true. Sometimes, he was on. There were whole chunks that were solid and good. Then there were parts of Leoâs notebooks that were a mess of phrases which sounded far too mushy to be a proper article. âReally good.â
The musicâŚGod, Leo could have written about their songs for hours and hoursâhe just had to be careful not to cross any lines into what he was quickly suspecting was the true territory of the songs. Love songs. In Leoâs opinion, the best kind of love songâwhen the two people they were about were right there, in the same room as each other.
Logan had switched to the other arm, opening himself up to being taken by the hips by Finn and sweetly kissed.
After, Logan smiled a little at Leo when he took the stretching band back. Still guarded, but it was improvement. âMerci.â
âYeah,â Leo said. âOr, youâre welcome.â
He winced at himself as Logan went over to drum a bit on one of his practice pads. Leo tried to pick up the song, but it was hard without the melody until Finn, waiting for water to boil, started singing.
Oh, I wish that I was someone else so I could watch us being.
Go and love a stranger so I can see how you hard you love me.
In his notebook, Leo wrote, In the middle of warming upâwhich involves more push-ups and stretching than I would have thoughtâOâHara stops to make me a cup of tea.
Fuck. It sounded like a diary entry.
Warming up is taken as seriously as it would be by any sports team. Tremblay prepares his body as thoroughly as his instruments.
Was that too Leo set his pen down and stared at the page.
Tremblay stretches in front of me and I swear to God I can see every muscle in his back.
OâHara just squeezed my shoulders. I heard Rooftop on the guitar for the first time and it wasnât at a show, it was in his living room and he looked so sad. He looked so sad.
When they kiss, I want to watch the gentleness between them on loop until the end of time.
And an even quieter, even more secret thought: I want to be kissed like that.
âHere we go.â
Leo looked up. Finn carefully set down a steaming paper cup. âI put a little honey in it like mine. Thatâs what I have before we go on.â
âThatâs perfect.â Leo smiled and held the cup up to his nose. It smelled sweet and a little like licorice. âIâll consider it research.â
Finn smiled back for a moment and Leo was reminded of the first time heâd met Alex. They both had that soft stare. It was aimed right at Leo.
âYour hairâs the color of honey,â Finn said. Then he picked up Leoâs pen and wrote down, honey!!! then winked at Leo and walked away.
The show was wild and fantastic, as usualâand it rained. Rained. Hard. The screens showed Finn, red hair dark and dripping against his forehead, his face raised to the sky. Water flew up in droplets from Loganâs drums, backlit and mesmerizing. Leo was soaked despite the VIP tent by the time it was over and shivering a little in his t-shirt as the night cooled down.
He made his way backstage, trying not to drip on everything as he knocked on Finnâs dressing room door.
A grinning Finn with Logan under his arm swung it open for him. He was soaked through, they both were, but he didnât seem to feel the cold. Adrenaline, probably. Finn held so much of it after shows he practically shook.
âWeâre going out to celebrate and youâre coming with us.â
âGreat,â Leo said. He wrapped his arms around himself, trying to fight the chattering of his teeth. âWhere?â He was taking in Logan now. He lookedâwell, soaked and kissed. Maybe Finn was just extra affectionate after shows.
âJust a bar. My brother, some friends. And you because youâre coming.â
âAnd my sister will be there,â Logan said.
âWhich one?â Leo askedâwhich maybe was weird that he knew there was more than one? But they had to be used to being Googled. Right?
âNoelle,â Logan said. âAnd her boyfriend, Thomas.â
âI wonât kill your vibe?â Leo asked.
âEveryone knows weâre doing your interview,â Finn said. âI think we should give you more than just, like, us fucking around backstage and, you know, working.â
âYou guys are pretty serious,â Leo said. Which wasnât very true. Finn was always putting Logan in headlocks, Logan constantly hid Finnâs things from him. âBut thanks. Iâd love to come.â
âGood,â Finn said.
When they began peeling off their sweaty and wet stage clothes, Leo kept his eyes respectfully down, mostly, and wished he had something to change into, too. He could try to run back to his hotel, but he didnât feel like having to chase their party down. He resigned himself to being damp and hoped a drink or two would warm him up.
âHere,â Logan said, and something soft and warm was being pushed into Leoâs chest.
It was a sweatshirtâFinnâs sweatshirt, probably, by The Strand Bookstore logo on it. Though maybe it was Loganâs, bought in New York or maybe stolen from Finn.
âOhâŚâ Leo looked at Logan. Those green eyes really did deserve songs to be written about them. âThank you.â Leo said.
He pulled the sweatshirt over his head and was sure it was Loganâs. It smelled like the cologne he woreânothing too strong and intense. It really was just like heâd bottled something piney and sweet.
When he was sure no one was looking, Leo ducked his nose a little into the collar.
~
Somehow, suddenly, it was four-thirty in the morning. Leo was pleasantly buzzed, a little exhausted, and squeezed up against strangers in a booth. He wasnât so pleased about the squeezed part, but it was a good vantage point. As it turned out, Finn was a dancerâeven when not many others were dancing. He was just as good as he was on stage. All hips and smiles.
Logan was not a dancerâbut he watched. Leo watched him watch Finn. There was a quiet sort of intensity to it. He chewed on the straw of his rum and coke, crunched on ice cubes. An hour later he was all but shredding a beer label, and had his eyes on Finn and heâd lost his hat somewhereâoh, Finnâs head. It was getting warm in the bar. The place kept the doors open and Leo was sweating in Loganâs sweatshirt, but he didnât take it off. He could see Loganâs sweat, dark on his temples. Finn had to be sweating, too, but he didnât look it. He just looked happy.
Finn wandered over to Logan and hooked his thumbs in his belt loops. He didnât kiss him, but he got nice and close like he might, singing words to a song Leo didnât know and grinning.
How had the world not figured it out yet? They might not be so obvious as kissing, but Finn and Logan certainly werenât subtle. Was a narrative of thatâs how they are, thatâs their friendship really so strong?
With a smile, Logan shoved Finn back out onto the floor where someone joined himâtwo someones. Alex and a dark-haired girl Leo had seen around. For a brief moment, across the room, Loganâs eyes met Leoâs. Then he ducked out onto the balcony. Leo wasnât positive it was an invitation, but he wouldnât miss it if it was.
âExcuse me, sorry,â Leo mumbled to the guy next to him. It was a bit of a mess, making these people get up. He wasnât sure why they were all sitting there. It wasnât like it was easy to hear each other over the music anyway. Leo was happy to rise.
Remarkably, the night air felt cool. The balcony was higher up than Leo had expected, looking down at the city below. Logan had his back to Leo, elbows on the railing. He glanced behind him when he heard Leo approaching, and the red and blue city lined his profile. He looked just like he did on stage, only calmer. Quiet. Truer to how he actually was. Leo couldnât image putting on a show like that every single night.
âI need a break from people sometimes,â Logan said, as if answering a question Leo had asked.
âOh. I can goââ
âNo,â Logan said. âI just mean crowds.â
âI bet,â Leo said. He went to the railing and mirrored Loganâs position. That was actually an old trick heâd been taught. Apparently it made interview subjects feel at ease. Really, heâd just wanted to see the city and feel the cold metal of the railing on his skin.
âItâs hot in there.â
âOuais.â
âFinn really loves dancing.â
Logan cracked a smile and took a drink from his beer bottle. âYouâd think heâd run out of energy.â
Leo laughed. âIâm out of it just looking at him.â
âThatâs Finn for youâŚRealest thing in the world.â
Realest thing in the world. What a quote. Leo knew he wouldnât have to write that down to remember it.
âWho is he dancing with?â
Logan swallowed. âHannah. She was at Harvard with us.â
âHm.â
âThey dated. In college.â
âOh, really?â
âYeah,â Logan said, then glanced Leoâs way. âBefore I took what was mine.â
Okay, hot. Leo had to smother a pretty pathetic sounding breath.
âHm,â Leo said again. âCan IâŚCan I ask something?â
âThatâs your job.â
âItâs pretty personal. And you donât have to answer.â
âI know that.â Logan said, and then just waited, looking back out at the streets.
âWhat happened after high school and before Harvard?â
More waiting. More of that intense, Logan-silence. Part of Leo was pleased that he had such a thing to associate with Logan, that heâd spent enough time with him for that. Leo didnât push him. He stirred the ice cubes in his drink and took in the rest of the balcony. A few chairs. Ash trays.
âWe used this bookshopâs basement to practice at night,â Logan said suddenly. âAll the other stores were closed, it was below ground, we werenât going to annoy anyone.â
Leo could picture that. Guitar and drums, maybe one of their ever rotating bass playersâit must get hard, trying to bud in on two as tight as Finn and Logan were. Writing and playing late into the night.
âBut one night when it was just us there was thisâŚâ Logan shook his head. âMerde, Iâd say snowstorm but it was more like⌠Just it was like the world blinked out.â Logan scratched wet-paper trails in his beer bottleâs label. âIt felt like it was just the two of us left in the world.â
âYou got snowed in?â
Logan nodded. His eyes were far, far away. Green, deep forest.
âWe slept together,â Logan said quietly.
Alarm bells that every good reporter should have went off. Logan had been drinking. Leo had asked the question but it was still his duty to make sure it was truly okay to get the answer. âDoes Finn know youâre telling me this?â
âOuais. We talked about you.â
Okayokayokay. Leo felt like his entire body was trying to keep his heart from pounding at that sentence. Oh, to be a fly on that wallâŚ
âOkay,â Leo said carefully. âStill, if you want to have this conversation another timeââ
âIâm not drunk,â Logan said. He looked down at his beer. âI had one drink two hours ago and this tastes like shit, Iâve been holding it for a fucking hour.â
Leo couldnât help but laugh a little. âNot sweet?â
âNon, not at all.â
Well, Leo was glad he knew. Sometimes with the stars, it was a problem. They spilled out gorgeous sentences and feelings no matter how Leo tried to stop them when they were loose-tongued and then wouldnât let Leo use a word of it the next morning.
âAnd like I said,â Logan said. âWeâŚI wouldnât just be telling you this if Finn didnâtâŚYou know.â
Leo thought of all the details heâd been picking up, and then even more unspoken ones. He could see that they wanted him to know. He just wasnât sure why.
âIt was the best night of my life.â Logan leaned on the railing, his hand coming up to touch his mouth. âIt was⌠We wrote Only Two that night.â Logan smiled at the memory and closed his eyes. âLike, in twenty minutes, it was insane. Right after weâŚwell.â
Leo loved that song. Back in high school, he hadnât thought of it as being about making love, but being older now, he could tell.
There are only two
Things I want
For only the two
Of us
Two more turns on this dark road
Two more inches of skin exposed
Two more minutes of this bliss
Two more hours not to miss
Two more decades of your light
Two more centuries of this night
Only two (two) two (two)
Want me, too (too) too (too)
After this conversation, heâd never listen to it the same. Heâd picture some grimy basement, and snowâand heâd picture Logan and FinnâŚ
Two more inches of skin exposed.
No. No, Leo thought to himself. Youâre professional. So very professional.
âAnd then I pretended like nothing happened.â Logan straightened. He turned his face away a little.
He could be professional and still let his heart ache at that. A memory surged at him without warning. A voice that he tried his best not to remember. Get the lights, will you?
âWhy?â Leo tried to keep the word gentle. Logan seemed like he wanted to get this out, and Leo wanted to keep it at his pace.
âI donât know. I got scared. I thought weâd neverâI donât know. We wanted this massive thing, to play our music, that almost no one gets and I didnât want anything to mess it up. We fought. Finn wanted to be together. And then I saidâŚI said things I didnât really mean, but I said them. And he was crying.â Far away eyes again. âHe was crying.â
Finn, crying. Leo couldnât put it together with the grinning boy inside. When Logan turned to look, so did Leo. Finn was facing them, half obscured by a wall of people he was chatting to. It was hard to tell through the glass and with all the reflections from outside, but Finn might have looked at them.
âAndâŚand we stopped talking.â Logan turned away. âWe didnât talk all of Senior year, or the summer before college.â
âBut you got into the same school and showed up to the same dorm room.â
Logan snorted out a laugh, rubbing a palm over his face. âMerde. Oh my God, Leo, you have no idea. Our faces, seeing each other? Our parentsâ faces? I thought I was going to die that first night, I walked in on Finn playing the guitar, and I thought I was going to die.â
âWow,â Leo said faintly.
Logan let out a delighted laugh. Leo blinked, surprised, but couldnât help but smile. That was a contagious sound. A rare one?
âSorry, I meanâat least we can laugh about it now,â Logan laughed through the words. âI was going to lose my mind. I canât tell you how much I missed him. I remember missing him now and I miss him when heâs, like, asleep next to me. Thatâs how bad IâŚâ He broke off suddenly. Leo watched his throat move around a swallow. âThatâs how bad I fucked up.â
Leo knew he wasnât supposed to give his opinion to the subject of his pieces. As the writer, he was supposed to listen and organize. But his mind was telling him to comfort Logan. He wanted to do what heâd seen Finn do earlier, he wanted to know how warm Loganâs waist was through his t-shirt.
âOn the topic of the songs you write togetherâŚâ Leo took a breath. âCan I ask about Rooftop? You always leave the stage when Finn plays it. Is thatâI mean, itâs a solo for him, I know that, butâŚâ
Logan frowned and didnât answer for a long time. Leo let him sit. It was a fine line, seeing that a subject had opened up, but then pushing too hard. Leo was beginning to worry heâd crossed that line when Logan spoke.
âI canât listen to it. Thatâs why I leave.â Logan rubbed at his jaw and went to mess with his hat before remembering Finn had it. âReally, I canât watch him sing it. I canât watch what was my fault.â
Leo had had his suspicions since heâd walked into the dressing room, but this confirmed it. âItâs about you.â
Loganâs mouth was tight when he gave a small nod.
âI refused us for a long time.â Half a smile crossed his face and he sang the brief melody. âLong, long time.â
Leo smiled, too. It felt like it was okay to do. They were together now, werenât they?
âItâs my favorite song,â Leo admitted.
Logan looked surprised. âItâs so sad. You donât seem like a sad song person.â
âI donât?â Leo laughed. âWhat kind of person do I seem like?â
Logan looked at him for a moment, then back at the city, shrugging with an almost bashful look on his face.
âAndâŚâ Leo felt a little giddy, like a sleuth figuring out a mystery. âGreen Eyes.â
Logan laughed. âOuais.â He took a sip of his beer and grimaced at the taste. âFuck this shit about some French girl. Quote me on that.â
âSeriously?â
Logan sent him a look. âMaybe. Ask me later.â
Leo nodded. âPromise.â
Loganâs smile was gentler this time.
âWhen did you get together for good?â Leo asked, then realized what he said. âI meanâI mean, you look pretty solid, I didnât mean to assume.â
Logan smiled. âOh, heâs never getting rid of me now. Iâll never forget it. It wasâŚmaybe a year ago, I guess? No, a little more. While we were writing our most recent album. In Rome, actually, we rented this place and after those months, I didnât think Iâd be able to be far away from him again. And I mean, like, other side of the room. That felt far away.â Logan looked up, remembering. âWe were pretty off-and-on until then, making out, fucking, not talking about it.â
Leo blushed. âMhm.â Making out fucking not talking about it.
Logan sent him a sideways glance. âWhat?â
âNothing, Iâm listening.â
Logan narrowed his eyes playfully and turned his body towards Leo. God, his shoulders.
âNon, youâre a baby tomato. Tell me.â
âOh God,â Leo laughed, putting a hand to his cheek. âShit, I am, arenât I? WellâNo. Okay. All right, confession.â
Logan smiled and leaned forward. âOuais?â
Leo pressed a palm to his own chest. âI am a fan. Quite a big fan of you both. Iâm also. Well, Iâm gay. Iâm having a bit of a moment realizing two of the people around my age that Iâve always admired,ââYouâre also unbearably hot, both of youââshared more with me than I ever thought they did. Especially becauseâyour music really helped me through some bad times.â It was Leoâs turn to look down. âSome bad guys.â
Now all that intense Logan-silence was trained directly on him.
âBad guys,â Logan repeated softly. âBad to you?â
He said it like it was madness, like he couldnât believe it.
âIt was a long time ago,â Leo said.
âWhatâs that mean?â Logan shrugged. âThey were bad to you?â
âHe,â Leo said. âReally justâŚhe was.â
âBadâŚBad how?â Logan asked in a hushed whisper. He took a step forward, nearly right into Leoâs space.
âNothing likeâjustâŚâ Leo sighed as he stumbled over his words. âHe wasnât happy with how he wanted me. He probably wished he didnât want me at all.â
More of those uncomprehending narrowed eyes, as if Jack, whose name Logan didnât even know, had offended Logan by offending Leo.
âWhat a shit,â Logan saidâand there was a snarl to it. Logan Tremblay, who had known Leo for all of a week, had just snarled about Leoâs shitty ex-boyfriend.
Leo laughed. âYes. Understatement. Very.â
They were close now. Close enough that Logan could reach out and untuck where the collar of Leoâs sweatshirt had folded wrong.
âOh,â Leo said. Loganâs fingers had brushed his neck and Leo fought that shiver hard. âYeah, thank you for this. That rain got cold.â
Logan stayed quiet. He withdrew his hand, but he didnât step back. When he looked up at Leo, he had that open look that Leo had only seen him give Finn.
âYou know we chose you,â Logan said. âRight?â
Leo only had time to half let that sink in and half wonder what the hell it meant before a knocking came from behind them. âHey-hey.â
They both turned to see a dark haired girlâthis was Loganâs sister, Noelle. She smiled at Leo and held out her arms to Logan.
âWanted to say bye, Iâm taking off, Lo-bear.â
Lo-bear. Leo hid his smile in his glass but Logan caught it anyway as he hugged his sister tightly.
âHave a good vacation,â Noelle said and squeezed him tighter for a moment. She planted a kiss on his cheek and whispered. âYou deserve it.â
âMerci.â
âDonât wreck mom and dadâs house.â
Logan rolled his eyes. âWhen have I ever done that?â
Noelle pulled back and patted his cheeks. âLove you.â
Leo looked between them. Logan was different like this. He wasnât a pop star. He wasnât considered on of the best drummers in the current music sceneâmaybe the world. He was a baby brother.
âJe tâaime,â he said softly.
A version of the voice he saved for Finn, maybe. Leo wondered what it was like to hear them say it to each other. I love you.
People began spilling out on the balcony after that. Maybe noting that Logan Tremblay was out there. Leo and Logan got tumbled apart, but Logan caught his eye across the crowd. Between them lingered unfinished words. Leo shrugged one shoulder and gave him a smile. You chose me? What does that mean? What in the world does that mean?
Logan frowned. He set his beer bottle down, still full, and began to try and push through the crowd to Leo. It was hard. People kept wanting to speak to him. Logan looked like he was trying hard not to snap at them.
âHey.â
Leo turned and found Finn there. Sweaty, tall, love-eyed Finn. He was definitely tipsy. No Logan-conversations for them tonight.
âHi,â Leo said. He glanced back for Logan, but heâd lost him.
âWeâre going to Loganâs familyâs house in Nice tomorrow morning.â
âOh.â Leo tried, he tried to keep his heart afloat. That feltâhe didnât feel ready. He didnât want the week to end. Maybe it was hero-worship. Maybe he was starstruck. Maybe his heart didnât know what to do with the proximity. Was Finn telling him that they were finished, that they were going on vacationâ
Finn reached for Leoâs hand and tucked something into his palm, closing Leoâs fingers around it and covering it with his own. âIâll send the car for you.â
The crowd whisked him away, too, leaving Leo standing in the summer night to uncurl his fingers.
It was a guitar pic, and scrawled across both sides in tiny writing, were two phone numbers.

Can you do a request where youâre at one of bad omens shows and he sees you get trampled in the crowd and gets you out and then takes you to the medics and then checks on you later and end up really likening each other? Thanks ! â¤ď¸
Absolutely! I wrote this pretty quick, but I hope itâs still enough!đâ¤ď¸
Summary: you get sucked into a mosh pit at a bad omens concert, and Noah saves your ass!
Warning: none. Fluff????
A/N: Heâs so fine. Thatâs it. Thatâs the note.
The air was electric, pulsating with the kind of energy that only a live concert could summon. The venue was packed, a sea of bodies moving rhythmically as the sweet anticipation of the evening hung thick in the air. I had waited months for this night: Bad Omens was my favorite band, and here I was, nestled amidst a crowd of die-hard fans, ready to embrace each note like a fleeting memory.
The lights dimmed, and with a rush of adrenaline, the band took the stage. The roar of the crowd surged, drowning out any rational thought, as I screamed every lyric back to them. They opened with âLimits,â and I felt like I was on top of the world, anchored by the thrum of guitars and the hauntingly beautiful voice of lead singer Noah Sebastian.
As the night drew on, each song melted seamlessly into the next, igniting our collective passion. But when they launched into their final track, âDethrone,â everything shifted. The moment the first chord struck, it was like a switch flipped. Bodies surged forward, and before I could process what was happening, the energy behind me erupted into a chaotic mosh pit.
I was drawn into the momentum like a leaf caught in a storm. The surge of energy pressed against my back like a tidal wave, and thenâsuddenlyâI was falling, the ground rushing up to meet me. Before I could catch myself, sneakers and boots trampled over me, the weight of the crowd drowning out my cries for help.
Through a haze of confusion and pain, I heard a voice pierce through the arena. It was Noah, caught in the moment, his powerful voice cutting through the chaos. âStop! Stop! Thereâs a girl on the ground!â he yelled, desperation coating his words.
But the crowd, intoxicated by the pulse of the music, didnât seem to listen. They continued to move, a wild and frenetic energy that crushed me further into the unforgiving floor. Everything began to blur, a swirling mix of color and sound, until I felt a pair of hands grip me firmly.
In a swift moment, Noah leapt off the stage and over the barricade, his presence towering even among the chaos. I barely registered the shock on the faces around me as he made his way through the crowd, weaving effortlessly between the flailing limbs.
Before I knew it, he was beside me, kneeling down and cradling me in his arms. âIâve got you,â he breathed, his voice steady and calm, cutting through my panic. My heart raced, not just from the fear and confusion but from the surreal moment of being held by the person whose music had always been a refuge for me.
Noah lifted me off the ground as if I weighed nothing, his strong arms enveloping me, making me feel both safe and seen. He carried me back through the crowd, their frantic energy subdued by the sight of their idol so close. The faces around us morphed from wild fervor to shock and concern, and the music faded to a distant hum as my own pulse thundered in my ears.
When we reached the barrier, Noah handed me off to a security guard, who was already moving to assist. âTake her to the medics,â he instructed, his eyes locked onto mine, a mixture of worry and fierce compassion. âThank you,â I managed to say, my voice trembling. The initial shock was wearing away, replaced by a rush of gratitude and awe. Noah nodded, his brow furrowed with concern. âJust breathe. Youâre okay.â With that, he turned back to the stage, urgency in his steps, as the crowd began to realize what had happened.
As I was escorted toward the medics, I couldnât help but feel the warmth of his words resonating within me, stirring the echoes of the night. I glanced back one last time to see him resuming his position at the front of the stage. His voice soared into the night, bringing life back to the energy in the room. My brain went fuzzy, before I finally passed out.
When I regained consciousness, it was in the dim light of the green room, distant thuds of the remaining crowd echoing from the venue. I blinked, confusion clouding my thoughts until I registered the cool sensation pressed against my head. An ice pack. A hint of concern etched into my foggy mind, and I attempted to push myself into a sitting position.
âEasy there.â A voice cut through the haze, smooth and low. I turned my head, realizing the source of the voice knelt beside the couch. Noah Sebastian, the frontman of Bad Omens, was inches away, concern lining his striking features. âWhatâs your name?â
I blinked, still a bit dazed. âUh, itâs⌠itâs Charlie.âHis brow furrowed slightly before he spoke again. âAnd how are you feeling?â âJust a little banged up. Iâm okay, I think.â I offered a tentative smile, the adrenaline still making my heart raceâfor reasons other than the concert.
Noahâs expression softened, and he ran a hand through his dark hair, visibly relieved that I was coherent. âIâm really sorry you got hurt at our show. Itâs supposed to be a fun experience.â
âIt was⌠until I hit the ground.â I laughed lightly, a sound that echoed softly in the quiet room. âLet me make it up to you,â he proposed, the glimmer of a mischievous smile playing at his lips. âHow about I take you out? Just you and me, my treat.â My heart raced again, but this time for different reasons. Noah Sebastian, the man whose music had pulled at my very soul, was offering to take me out? It felt surreal. âAre you serious?â
âAbsolutely. Just because the mosh pit went rogue doesnât mean our night has to end here.â His smile turned infectious, and warmth flooded my cheeks. I nodded, trying to wrap my mind around it. âOkay, that sounds great!â
âAwesome.â Noah stood up, motioning to one of the security guards lingering outside the green room. âHey, can you keep an eye on Charlie for a few minutes? Just until Iâm done? Sheâs coming with me after the show.â
The guard nodded, glancing at me with a smirk, as if he was in on the secret. Noah turned back to me, and before stepping out for a moment to arrange the details, he leaned forward slightly, teasingly lowering his voice. âIâll be right back. You might want to text your friends to let them know youâre not going home just yet.â
When he left, the excitement of our encounter washed over me, mingling with the remnants of the adrenaline from the show. I couldnât believe how quickly my night had shifted from chaos to something unbelievable, a tale I would recount for years to come. The ice pack did its job, and though I felt sore, a smile spread across my face.
When Noah came back 20 minutes later, he guided me through a side door and into the cool night air. The stars twinkled above like a constellation of dreams. In that moment, I knew the crazy mosh pit would fade into the background of my memory, overshadowed by the thrill of an unexpected encounter with a rock star who would turn a rough night into something beautifully unforgettable.

The sound of our tied souls
Genre: soulmate!au, rockstar!au, kinda enemies-to-lovers but not really, a bit of angst, fluff, happy ending
Word count: 3.3k
Pairing: rockstar!San x fem!reader (feat. reader's best friend x Mingi)
Warnings: swear words (quite a lot), time-skip, kind of a bad guy attitudeâSan's a bit of a jerk at the beginning but he has a character development :), soulmate rejection, mentions of some jealous fans, kinda slow-burn, one kiss, possible grammar mistakes
A/N: this oneshot is part of @sungbeam's soulmate collab, which i was so proud to be part of; thanks for the opportunity, love đ¤
You got woken up by that annoying song again, your beauty sleep being thrown away for the rest of the nightâcause it seemed like your soulmate had no sleeping schedule. You couldn't understand how he could listen to this all the time, you often wondered if his hearing was still intactâcause the loud growl of what seemed to be an electric guitar could surely manage to make you deaf by now.Â
You have first discovered your soulmate bond after your 16th birthday, when you began hearing rock music everyday. Everyone was talking about how sweet their marks were: a tattoo with the letter of their significant other's name, a highlight in their hair matching their future partner's color, and the list could go on. You, on the other hand, had to struggle with listening to something you absolutely despised, without thinking that your soulmate returned the same feeling to your music choice. With a mischievous smile on your face, you made your way to your piano, starting to play one of your favorite songs. God, if only you knew how frustrated your soulmate got.Â
"San, you messed up again! Can you fucking focus?" Hongjoong, the leader of their group, Guerrillas, shouted, watching as the culprit lowered his head.Â
"I can't, Joong. I can't, because all I hear right now is FĂźr Elise, and it messes my head up!" he shouted too, pulling his hair back in frustration.
The others looked at each other with confused looks; was there something they didn't know? Without actually meaning to, Mingi bursted into laughter, leading Wooyoung to chuckle as well.Â
"Since when do you listen to classical music?" he asked San, smirking playfully.Â
"I don't. That thing you call soulmate does."Â
"You're hearing what your soulmate listens to?!" Wooyoung exclaimed, covering his mouth in shock.Â
"Yeah. But you know I'm not into this shit of yours, so let's get back to practice. I'll try and focus." he simply said, taking his guitar again, the strap attached to it hugging his torso perfectly.Â
Seonghwa shrugged and signaled the others to start playing, their practice session blooming once again. You could swear that he'd never played music that loud before; it felt like a competition between the two of you, and you smiled at the thought of having him so frustrated. You didn't know who he was nor how he looked, but you were ready to make his life a living hell, as much as he had started to turn yours into one. Â
At one point, the music stopped and you managed to sleep a bit, but it was way too little for your liking. You woke up at the sound of your doorbell, your best friend standing behind the wooden door.Â
"You won't believe what my boyfriend got me!" she said as soon as you opened the door, barging into your house like it was her own.Â
"Do I wanna know?" you sighed, thinking that your best friend's excitement meant chaos.Â
"He got me two tickets at his band's concert! We're gonna see the Guerrillas!" she jumped, pulling the two golden-like tickets from her pocket.Â
She and Mingiâher soulmate, met a while ago, and since then, she was always talking about him and how much their music grew on her. She must have been so happy now, that her world had finally earned its colors. Her and Mingi's soulmate mark consisted of seeing the world in black and white, until the two of them met. You still remembered how fast they agreed on becoming a couple, and you still wondered how they made it work so well. You knew how proud she was of her boyfriend, mainly because it was the third time she was trying to convince you to go with her, thinking that it would be, somehow, her lucky chance.Â
"There's no way I'm going to a rock concert." you protested, crossing your arms.Â
"There's no way I'll leave you alone until you say yes." she smirked, shoving one of the tickets in your jacket.Â
Nice try, you thought, before taking a moment to actually read the information on the ticket. How bad could it be, after all? Maybe, in this way, you could find more about your soulmate's favorite genre of music. You also thought it was maybe an occasion to meet Mingi's friends; you knew he was in the college's rock band, though you've never met them in this formula.
"Fine. I'm only doing it for Mingi's effort to get you these." you said coldly, side-eyeing your friend when she gave you a bear hug; it was gonna be a long week.
While the two were already making plans for the big day, the boys took a break from their intense practice session, starting to talk about whatever traveled their mind while drinking a can of energy drink. San was absent from their conversation, fidgeting with his calloused fingers, the effort of always trying to hit the right strings showing. The thought of having a soulmate was really burdening him, he didn't want to spend his energy searching for someone he didn't even want to meet. Little San would probably be disappointed, because all he has ever wished for was to grow up and meet his other half. Arts student San, though? He didn't need anything else as long as he had his guitar by his side; a capo and some sheet music could easily solve his problems. But he couldn't stand the thought of someone constantly hearing the feelings he tried expressing through music; it made him feel vulnerable, like he had no personal space anymore.
"San, do you agree with the outfits we've decided on?" Jongho asked, looking curiously at the way too quiet boy.Â
"Huh⌠yeah, sure, sounds great." he replied, avoiding the way Yunho raised his eyebrow at his reply.Â
"You didn't pay attention," he sighed, before adding some other words: "Something's definitely bothering you, so talk to us."Â
"Is it because of your soulmate? Why don't you just search for her?" Wooyoung asked, feeling the way the elder tensed. "It should stop after you meet, right?"Â
"Meeting her means that I have to be committed, and I don't want to commit to her." he spat, putting emphasis on not wanting to do so, and without bothering to spare his friends the slightest glance, he just took his things and left them speechless, in the middle of the studio.Â
The week passed fastly, the not-so-wanted (by a certain someone, 'cause the whole college actually went crazy for it) concert finally coming to life. The boys were backstage, trying to memorize their lines or chords for the last time. You and your friend would be late though; because she couldn't let you wear the clothes you would usually wear.Â
"I can't believe you want to wear a coat to a rock concert," she sighed, slightly amused by your antics. "They cover songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Sweet Child O' Mine and more, and they will most likely sing their own songs as well. This isn't Antonio Vivanti."Â
You let out an offended scoff, grabbing the leather jacket she was trying to put on you and wearing it, despite the ick the weird material was giving you. "And it's Vivaldi, by the way. Pay respect!"Â
"Yeah, yeah. C'mon, or else we will be late!"Â
Luckily for her (âcause you tried to lose as much time as you could), you arrived just when they settled on stage, greeting the ones who came to see them. You couldn't say you weren't a bit jealous whenever you saw the way her and Mingi looked at each otherâbecause it did something to you. But you were scared of being rejected, pretty sure that the soulmate thing wasn't as easy as it seemed.Â
Your thoughts were brushed off by the loud sound made by the mix of instruments, making you flinch, to your friend's amusement. Not being able to sneak outside because of her hand constantly holding yours, you decided that the least you could do was to pretend you were enjoying it. The others seemed to have fun too, even the boys, who really owned the stageâuntil something stole the show. San was taken aback by the way his in-ears workedâor so he thought. The same song they were performing was playing in a faded but bothering way in his ears, making him look at the others with a questionable look. He then made a few gestures to the staff, waiting for the song to stop so he could go and see what was wrong. Hongjoong looked at him worriedly while still focused on his bass, meanwhile Mingi almost messed up while playing the drums.Â
"We will be back in a few minutes, wait for us, okay?" Jongho screamed, hoping to keep the audience busy for a bit, while the others went to see what was wrong with San; their mics weren't off, though.Â
"There's nothing wrong with your in-ears, San. They work perfectly," the staff informed him, a few curse words leaving his mouth.Â
"What if your soulmate is at the concert, San?" Yeosang asked innocently, almost like a jokeâthough the younger boy freezed in his place.Â
The audience went crazy; some fangirls gasped and started to whisper several things about San's potential soulmate, meanwhile some of them had the same reaction as San. Some of them even started to run, looking suspiciously at every single girl they saw. "San has a soulmate?", "God, what did she do in her past life?", and so many other phrases that made you scoff. Who was this San and why was he so popular? The influence of his jealous fans spreaded through the whole venue, making the staff finally notice their mics and turn them off, though it was too lateâthe fuss was already created.
"I don't think that's the caseâ" Seonghwa tried to protest, but San stopped him.Â
"I think that's exactly the case." San looked at them, before throwing his in-ears somewhere. "What should we do now? I don't want to perform anymore."Â
"Then⌠let's wrap it up." Hongjoong sighed, before going back on stage. "Due to some unfortunate events, we need to stop here, darlings. Don't worry, we will come back soon!" He bowed and left the stage, leaving the fans high and dry. In other circumstances, nothing could have made him leave the stage that easily; he would have found a solution. But seeing how messed up his friend was, it made him want to try and understand him, he was going through a quite special phase, after all.
"I will go ask Mingi about what happened, do you want to come?" your friend asked, though your answer didn't even matter, she was already dragging you after her.Â
She greeted her boyfriend and the others as if they knew each other since forever, asking them about what was wrong.Â
"San hears whatever his soulmate is listening too, and he has only told us a few days ago," Mingi said, wrapping an arm around the girl's waist.Â
Your eyes widened at what he said, but you decided to keep composureâmaybe it was just a coincidence.Â
"And she is into classical music, it's so frustrating. Why would she come to our concert?" San snapped, ignoring the guest his friend's soulmate brought.Â
It all made sense to you then. You probably didn't realize the music coming from him because you tried to enjoy the new experience, but it made sense. The two-tone haired boy, the arrogant San everyone was talking about was standing in front of youâmoreover, he was your soulmate; and he didn't seem too happy with the idea of being bonded to someone.Â
"Who's the lady next to you?" Wooyoung asked, feeling the need to make you feel implied in the discussion.Â
"She's Y/N, I dragged her here with me," your friend laughs awkwardly. "She's not a fan, but Mingi got me two tickets so I made use of them."Â
"Oh! Do you happen to hear rock music sometimes?" Wooyoung asked, smirking playfully.Â
"Uhm⌠no, sorry." you said, looking at San, who was already looking suspiciously at you. He was really arrogant, you wished to be able to reject him, but he seemed to do it first.Â
"Even if she was, I told you guys I don't care. My soulmate can go search for another one." he said, before leaving them, once again. You were the next one to leave, not even caring about the possibility of giving your little secret away.
Even after a few days, you couldn't deny the emptiness you felt the moment you were indirectly rejected by your soulmateâit was definitely noticeable, somewhere in your heart. It was safe to say San didn't feel as good as he thought he would either, even when he rejected the one he was assigned to live his whole life with on purpose. He figured out it was you, because he stopped hearing the once annoying music; but he missed it. And the news about his soulmate was spread in the whole college as well, not helping at all; they were making even the outsiders interested in the tea going on.Â
"I'm tired of this shit, guys. I won't come to practice today."Â
Hongjoong looked at him once again, nodding, not knowing exactly how to comfort his friend in this situation, words long forgotten. San started to walk in the direction of where the studio was, his ears filling with the melodious sound of a piano playing. Like it was a habit of his, his legs guided him to the door, which he cracked open, just to reveal you playing the piano. Your fingers moved skillfully along the piano keys, Debussy's Clair de Lune resonating beautifully in the room. The sweet melody managed to comfort him somehow; he didnât know if it was the calming nature of the song or the closure he was supposed to have with you, but he felt relaxed, listening peacefully until the painful silence started to bother him. He then took the matters into his own handsâin such a San way.Â
"Youâve got some skills, soulmate," he said, his lips stretching into a little smile, though a little dimple made its appearance still.Â
You got a bit surprised by his presence, but stopped what you were doing, to return a small smile and answer him.Â
"Thank you. I guess you do too."Â
"Was that Beethoven?" he asked curiously, sitting on the chair in front of the piano, next to you.Â
"Claude Debussy, but A for effort," you said, smiling at his attempt.Â
A wave of silence spread across the room, before you decided to break it: "We got off to a bad start, but we can still repair it. I'm Y/N," you said, sticking your hand out to him.Â
He grabbed it, shaking it softly. "I'm San, nice to meet you again." He waited for another reaction of yours, but seeing that you didn't plan on saying anything else, he made the next step: "Let's be friends."Â
You spent most of the day with him, sharing tips and talking about your opposite passionsâthough it was well known that opposites attract. Now, that you've gotten to know him a bit better, you could say he was more than just an arrogant guy.Â
One month passed since your first interaction with your soulmate, and you would have never expected that there would be more; yet here you were, watching as he excitedly got two tickets from his pocket.Â
"You're invited to our concert tonight! My treat this time, for you and our friend." he winked, handing the same golden-like tickets to you.Â
"I'll be there, Sannie." you smiled, giving him a side hug before running to your class. He smiled softly, not believing the effect love could have on him.
Furthermore, tonight's stage would be an important one for him; it could mean accomplishment or failure, but he was still willing to try. The boys found him smiling like an idiotâbut they enjoyed it, they could tease him about how a certain someone made him change. He never failed to amaze them, but someone definitely brought the best in him. He watched as the boys looked at him, his freshly dyed hair glowing nicely into the dim lights. His hands were covered in a pair of fingerless mesh gloves, fingers full of rings, while his t-shirt was nicely tucked in his leather pants. Some chains were dangling on his neck and waist, and a fake lip ring laid on his lower lip, completing the rockstar look he opted for.Â
"Where's San and what have you done with him?" Yeosang joked, entertaining the other seven boys in the room.Â
"Shut up, Sang. Are you ready?" Seonghwa asked, taking his mic and retouching the last details for tonight's show.Â
"Never been more ready." San smiled, taking his guitar and being the first one to get on stage.Â
"Hello guys, thank you for coming today too!" Wooyoung exclaimed, getting ready to perform at his best.Â
You and your friend were somewhere in the front row, singing along with the other fans who came to see the eight boys. You were bouncing with her, enjoying the genre you softly became addicted to, but it was surely an influence San had on you. You didn't know what happened to you, but you still had hope, that maybe something would change his mind. Suddenly, the culprit's voice was heard in the whole venue, catching your attention and making you stop whatever you were doing.Â
"As you all know, one month ago, I met my soulmate at the concert we held in the same place. I'd like her to join me here, please, Y/N?" he smiled, gesturing for you to get on stage, next to them.Â
You looked confusedly at your friend, who pushed you in the direction of the stage, playing their game. You got there, finding yourself in front of the crowd and waving awkwardly at them, not expecting to hear their loud screaming.Â
"I know I was a bit of a douchebag at the beginning, and that was definitely not the way you wanted us to meet. I messed up, but I hope you can forgive me."Â
The fans cheered up louder, while a big smile found its way to your face, making the boy's lips stretch into one as well.Â
"I know I rejected you at the beginning, but let me try to fix things. I hope it's not too late," he laughed softly, before continuing: "Have you started your looking for another soulmate project yet?"Â
You burst into laughter, nodding as no a few times. His cheeks got colored in a crimson red tone, and you could swear you've never seen anything cuter than a shy rockstar.
"Can I have the chance of being the lucky one, then?" he asked and watched as your expression changed, nervousness noticeable in his voice as well.Â
"I thought you considered yourself unluckâ" Wooyoung interrupted, but Jongho was fast to cover his mouth and prevent him from saying anything else. "You're screwing the moment, Woo." he said, mouth still pressed on his older friend's mouth.Â
You laughed at their antics, taking the mic from San's hand.Â
"As much as you've annoyed me, I still like you, Choi San. I always did, which is why I would actually love to give you this chance."Â
As soon as you finished your romantic little speech, he cupped your face, pressing his lips on yours softly. The fans went crazy, cheering and jumping as the two of you sealed the promise of loving each other forever with a soft kiss.Â
"With these being said, I'd like to announce the title of our next album, entitled The sound of our tied souls!" Yunho said, making the night of every single soul attending that concert, the stars shining even brighter above their heads.
You pressed your forehead on San's, admiring his beauty while your noses rubbed lovingly against each other's. The road you had to walk on to find your soulmate was a tough one, but looking back on it, you wouldn't want it another way; you were too excited for your future with your other halfâthe arrogant boy you started to love, the one destined to be eternally yours.Â

2017
âHave you listened to this?â
Shua plays a song from his phone and gives you the right earbud. The signature guitar plucks come through the earphones as he looks at you expectantly, slowly watching your expressions shift as the song plays.
âHuh, what song is thisâ
âItâs the new John Mayer song.â
âWHAT? No way.â
âYeah! Listen to it.â
It's a cool Friday afternoon and Shua is on time as usual, picking you up from your last class for the week. You barely have any classes together this term, except for one in the early mornings of Mondays and Wednesdays. This means that while you get to start the week togetherâalbeit in classâand unless you both make an effort on the weekdays, you donât see each other again most of the time until these Fridays after class.
It's a Friday, we finally made it I can't believe I get to see your face You've been working and I've been waiting To pick you up and take you from this placeâŚ
Shua grasps your hand, fingers intertwining, and he raises it to place a kiss on the back of your palm. He looks at you with his smiling eyes and you canât help but smile back. You end up leaning your head on his shoulder because you absolutely canât bear the way your heart is beating after listening to the songâs first verse.
âLove on the weekend, love on the weekend, Iâm coming up and Iâm loving every minute of it.â Shuaâs soft voice reaches your ears. You love it when he sings along to John Mayerâs songs. You could never listen to his songs the same way again when you found out the singer was one of his favorite artists tooâyou thought that it was rare for people to still listen to him. Instant green flag, was a thought that immediately popped into your mind.
âI love it already.â You say as you look up at Shua, who couldn't look away from you even if he wanted to.
âItâs us. Itâs our song.â
You didnât think you could smile any wider. âIt is.â
âAnd Iâll be dreaming of the next time we can go into another serotonin overflowâŚâ Shua resumes singing along, leaving you entranced and enchanted with both the song and this man who is holding your hand and who has done nothing but make you feel happy and loved on every single weekday and weekend youâve spent together.
âLove on the weekend, love on the weekend, Iâm busted up but Iâm loving every minute of it.â You both sing along to the songâs hook, singing truths that sometimes only songs can contain.
The song ends and you return the earbud, a silly smile plastered on your face.
âUh oh, I think youâve malfunctioned.â Shua pokes your cheek in an attempt to get your attention.
âStop it! Youâre making me malfunction with your cheesy shit!â
You feel his hand rest around your waist. He brings you closer to his side and he laughs, its gentle and sweet sound pure music to your ears on its own.
âGet used to it, love. I will never stop if it means I get to see that smile. I love you too much.â He says this as if the plainest and simplest truth there is in the world.
You couldnât help how your voice went up a few pitches, mockingly saying âHmm? You loveeee me?â
âYou and only youâ He brings her around to face him and he looks at her eyes, eyes that he could look at until the end of his days. âYou and I, and no one else.â
No one else. You believe himâhow could you notâand nod in agreement. He replies with a kiss on your forehead. You could melt on the spot.
âCoffee? At the usual place?â
âYes please.â
âLetâs go.â
Your hands find each other again, with stories about the week spilling from your mouths and hearts overflowing with love. It really was the little things like this that made your youth count. You two were young and in love, and you both swear never to forget this feeling until the day you turn old and gray.
