Adelha doesn't argue when Knives collects Vash with such immediate action. But she does have a look that speaks of great concern and a touch of anger. But it's gone in a blink to have her sigh and step out of the pagoda. "There are several places we may go to lay Vash down for rest. My first idea was to take him to the healing spring close to my cottage. But the cottage itself will also work just fine for letting Vash lay down."
Chester is already standing on a pathway made of various stones that lead further into the lush woodlands. His grin all but plastered on that feline face for him to gesture with one hand down the path. "House rules while on this island are very simple, Knives. No harm to any. This place is a sanctuary which doubles as a reservation. So the only real acceptable reasons for violence is to have a meal or to keep yourself from becoming a meal. Like say if a giant grizzly bear gets to eyeing you for a snack. Granted, the wildlife tend to know better than to try eating a creature more powerful than themselves. But the rule stands. Be polite to your hosts and hostesses. Most of us are the civilized sort."
Adelha ends up walking up to Chester to place a gloved hand over his mouth and roll her eyes at him. Then she's walking down the path for Wesson and Aqua to zoom after her. The pets all but running in circles around her as she takes the lead to head for their next destination. Her words both warm and sounding slightly tired. "That's enough from you, Chester. This way, Knives. Once we get Vash settled into a soft bed and see to getting your room situated to your preference, I will hear your words."
It doesn't take but a few minutes of walking before the trees give way to a spacious meadow area. A vast array of flowers and paths leads about to have a massive cottage in the center. Or half a cottage attached to a mansion. As if the two buildings were squished together to make one living space. Yet the space feels warm and welcoming. Various bird like creatures perched on one section of the roof to chitter and flit off to hide behind the chimney on the far right of the cottage as butterflies and bees floated about. A family of rabbits visible for a brief moment before they move themselves to hide under some brush. Peace and serenity all but a given promise in the air as Adelha walks to the front door of the cottage to open the door. Both Wesson and Aqua just scampering into the building right away with happy yips from the puppy. A massive looking black hound emerging from the shadows of the building to gaze at Knives with scarlet hues that are intelligent and fierce. Yet Adelha simply props the door open to look to Knives and bow her head. "All who seek to do no harm to me and mine may rest here. As such, pass over the threshold and accept our hospitality."
Knives would sense that this is important. But Chester just stands behind Knives to clarify with a purr, "Old custom of the Fae. Delly dearest is being polite. As long as you don't try to hurt or maim anyone here under her protection, you are allowed to stay and be protected in turn. The same goes for me. The guests rooms are on the second floor of this side of the home. I suggest the first room on the left of the stairs. Has a floor that's easy to clean. For a guest who doesn't hold his liquor too well."
Adelha kept Vash in her lap for the entire wait. Making sure to keep the cool cloth to his face and neck as she hummed a soft tune. While Aqua stayed in his lap to just enjoy being in a new lap. While Chester kept his gaze to those that passed by the pagoda. His power tickling over the pagoda and anyone who had the awareness to know about such energies.
The lady looks to Knives to heave a sigh of air. Looking rather worried as she speaks with the cloaked blonde. "An ancient elder of my kind decided to oversee our transportation to our world. One who is thousands of years old and tends to enjoy sticking his paws into new and interesting things. Knives. Meet Chester. We sadly have a very intoxicated Plant to safeguard. Not intended, mind you. He drank an entire flask of absinthe that was sixty-five percent alcohol. So this one will have to rest and recover with us in my home."
Chester loses all forms of humanity for a shimmer to overtake his form. Until he's a good seven feet tall. Prominent purple fur fluffing up for his head and face to change into that of a Persian cat. Cat ears apparent as well as whiskers for those gold eyes to look Knives over with evident delight. While that purple tail swished back and forth for Chester to tip his top hat to the cloaked blonde. "As if I would miss out on the chance to help my Delly dearest. Greetings and salutations to you, Knives. I currently go by the name of Chester Ausar Mau in these more modern centuries. Now that you've arrived, we may get things underway to head to Delly's island sanctuary."
Chester grins to give a few taps of his foot. A circle of fog wafting gently out and over the area where the pagoda rests just as storm clouds have gathered in the sky to signal that promised bad weather. With a warmth and gentle touch all but sweeping Knives into the pagoda as the entire structure glimmers and glows. That touch promising beauty and wonder in it's wake. Until the fog overtakes everything so no one can see. Then a powerful surge of pure magical energy lets out a distinct popping noise.
When the fog and magical energy that surrounded them begins to clear, both Knives and Vash would see they are definitely not where they once were. Since the pagoda is now surrounded on every side by dense and thriving forest and woodlands. A river and waterfall gently washing over the rocked outcropping as wind sighs and birds sing. The pagoda creaking slightly when Chester taps his foot to the floor to then openly laugh and look pleased with himself. "Perfect! Take a moment and soak in the scenery if you want. I am sure you've never seen anything quite like this before. This is the island sanctuary of the Mathilde clan bloodline. The current generation of that bloodline being Delly dearest. Where many a water dragon and other Fae have dwelled and called home."
Adelha gently shifts her hold on Vash so he might get a better view of where they are as Aqua and Wesson hop up to zoom around the pagoda in excitement and happiness. The kitten and puppy looking overjoyed to be back home. While Chester taps a toe to one wooden beam of the pagoda before he steps onto the grass. A soft shuffling signaling his every step as he purrs openly.

Mugler returns: A first look at Casey Cadwallader’s debut collection
On the northwestern outskirts of Barcelona, the head office of architect Ricardo Bofill rises up from a garden of olive and cypress trees like the Tower of Babel. Carved out of the shell of a disused cement factory La Fábrica, as it is known, is a place where Escher-like staircases lead to nowhere, colossal oxidised metal beams soar between béton brut walls and rooftops are coated in lush green lawns.
Here, on a balmy Sunday in April, Vogue came to meet Mugler’s new artistic director, Casey Cadwallader. Though he may not be a familiar name, there’s a good chance you have worn his designs. Until now, the American designer has worked largely behind the scenes at TSE, Loewe and J. Mendel, before becoming design director for women’s ready-to-wear and accessories at Narciso Rodriguez, and then design director of Acne Studios’ pre-collections. Cadwallader’s aptitude for, as he puts it, “translating yourself through the lens of the brand” will be an invaluable asset to Mugler, which has lost some of its momentum in recent years.
Established in 1974 by Thierry Mugler, the French fashion house pioneered the aggressively sexy, angular hourglass silhouette—achieved through padding a woman’s every curve and cinching in her waist—which became synonymous with the 1980s and early 1990s. Mugler was the man behind the iconic little black dress Demi Moore wore in Indecent Proposal, Diana Ross and daughter Tracee Ellis walked in his shows, and in 1992, he was director and costume designer for the era-defining music video for George Michael’s hit “Too Funky”, starring the likes of Linda Evangelista, Eva Herzigova and Tyra Banks. His creations transformed women into ice queens, superheroes and even motorbikes—creations famously reincarnated in 2009 when Mugler acted as creative adviser and costume designer to Beyoncé’s “I Am…” world tour. (The outfits go on display in February for the Thierry Mugler: Creatures of Haute Couture exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.)
Despite its success and enormous influence, Clarins—which has owned the Mugler name since 1997—was forced to close the house in 2003 due to substantial losses, but the ready-to-wear line was revived seven years later under Nicola Formichetti, who built a lot of buzz around the brand thanks to his frequent collaborations with Lady Gaga. His successor, David Koma, created beautifully cut designs favoured by the likes of Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, but the brand was far from regaining the stature of its heyday. Probably should note it was revived with RTW only.
We spent two days with Cadwallader as he shot his debut collection on a diverse cast of women. By bringing together the likes of literature graduate Jess Cole, who enviably landed an exclusive with Céline in her first season; hip-hop star 070 Shake; French Olympic swimmer Anna Santamans; actress Anna Brewster; and original Mugler muses Amy Wesson and Debra Shaw, he wants to “start a conversation around what powerful modern femininity means.” The photographs, taken by Arnaud Lajeunie, will be previewed in a private penthouse in Tribeca, New York on Wednesday, where guests will see the designs firsthand.
“This project is really about bringing variety to Mugler. Recently, [the brand] was only about evening wear, it didn’t really do more than dress elegant women, models and beautiful actresses for the red carpet,” the 38-year-old explains as he adjusts the collar of a black leather biker jacket on Cole. With its oversized belt buckle and broad shoulders, the references to the original Mugler are there, only softer and more supple—the armholes dropped to the top of the arm rather than jutting out at an angle, and the material itself only lightly buffed, not lacquered to the point of being fetishistic.
Later in the day, Cole changes into a trench coat made in collaboration with the artist Samara Scott. A zany concoction of ingredients are trapped between the two layers of clear vinyl from which the garment is cut, ranging from hair gel to curry powder and toothpaste. When opened up and held against the sun, it is a thing of ethereal beauty that resembles a basking butterfly—a subconscious nod to Mugler’s spring 1997 couture collection.
There’s a similarity between the way Paris-based Cadwallader, who hails from New Hampshire and holds a degree in architecture from Cornell University, is approaching Mugler and the way Bofill converted the cement factory—demolishing part of its structure to reveal concealed forms. Rather than tearing up the original Mugler manifesto, Cadwallader is “blowing down the walls of the brand” to extend its design vocabulary for the 21st century woman. “When I looked back at Mr Mugler’s archive, he made sportswear, swimsuits, he turned women into creatures, he had dancers, performance artists and musicians at his shows—there was this movement around him,” Cadwallader enthuses. “For me, women’s empowerment then was about having big shoulders to stand up to men in the workplace and also to attract their eye. [Whereas today] women still dress for power but for themselves. That is the big differencenot to be accepted by men but to be true to yourself and feel the power of self confidence, and choose your own destiny.”
The following day at a Bofill-designed summer house, Cadwallader’s attention to structure and form comes to the fore. Shaw, a long time Mugler muse, is electrifyingly elegant standing at the side of the red-tiled pool in a knitted dress and a Marco Panconesi for Mugler ear cuff that spouts white crystals like firework sparks. Meanwhile, 070 Shake is changing into a denim two-piece that teases the mind with its painstakingly assembled spiral seams, which seem to have no beginning or end. Perhaps one of the most literally referenced pieces in his collection (available at Net-a-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman and the Mugler store in Paris from August) is a fully canvassed jacket based on a men’s design from the Mugler archive, which comes in teal and black. The cut has been adapted to better suit a woman’s body, with laces so “any woman any size can adjust the strings and define their waist”, explains Cadwallader.
The designs aren’t short of ingenuity or craftsmanship, and although Cadwallader views this first body of work as an “experiment”—having only had seven weeks to design it following his December appointment—the 30-style collection is a coherent celebration of individuality. Going forward, the plan is to show the collections on schedule, but rather than pouring money into a runway show, Cadwallader intends to continue doing special events or presentations.
But how does it feel to wear Cadwallader’s Mugler compared to Thierry Mugler’s? Who better to ask than the women who have inspired both designers? “A Mugler suit made you appear strong even if you weren’t. It’s a special human power—you put on the suit and it gives you strength,” Shaw tells me over dinner that night. She pulls out her phone and shows me a photo of her and Amy Wesson modelling side-by-side in the Thierry Mugler Autumn/Winter 1998 couture show. This shoot, she believes, is the first time they have been reunited since that day. “Casey has really captured that spirit,” she continues. “To do that and still be in your own creative space is genius. You feel a bit of the old Mugler but it’s an advancement of today. It’s a perfect example of how [Thierry] would evolve with the times.”

Continuation of this exchange of hugs with @sillydoctor here:
The puppy sits down to watch as Adelha hugs Solomon Lily close. Placing a kiss to his forehead as she gives a sniffle of noise. “I missed you so very much, my little dove. I hope you had many amazing adventures while you were away.”
Adelha soon gives Solomon Lily a kiss to the cheek before she chuckles in amusement. “Next time you go on an adventure, please leave a note for me. To be truthful, I was finding myself distracted constantly wondering where you went and what fun you were having. But now that you are here, I will feed you latkes and whatever tea you want. Wesson has proven to be a good helper in the kitchen to defend me from boredom and melancholy.”
The puppy gives a happy bark before leaning forwards to lick Solomon Lily’s toes. The puppy wagging his tail as he does so.

There would be another guest at the inn that is standing at the door next to the blonde's room. A figure in a light grey cloak that has a duffel bag beside them. While a very playful puppy is currently sitting beside them. A beagle mix by the look of him.
The puppy takes an evident interest in the blonde to wander over to him and give his leg a sniff. Then the puppy yips what can only be a greeting to wag his tail. Making his cloaked owner turn to spot both the puppy and the blonde. A chuckle rich with warmth and good cheer as they remove their hood. Revealing the figure to be a young woman with cascading waves of curling white hair. Her eyes are a striking azure blue as she smiles at her neighbor. "It seems that Wesson has taken a liking to you. Just be warned. If you give him ear rubs, he will be your best friend forever."
@adelha-mathilde liked for a thing!
At the far edge of a town that he recalled having at least one name change since he'd been there last, barely a dot on anyone's map and that was probably the best thing for it, Vash had scored himself a tiny little room the size of a broom closet. There was a bed and there was food in the mornings, and that was more than what he technically needed. Sure was nice, though.
The only bad thing about sleeping indoors was needing to make an attempt to get as much sand to stay outside as possible, and. Well. He was a sprint's distance from the inn, which was nice, so there wouldn't be too much more sand acquired on the way back in, but as for everything that he was draining, dumping, shaking or otherwise leaving outside...
Did his coat always have so many pockets? Apparently each one of them needed turning inside out and shaking, then having their precious objects placed back inside... after a brushing off. Oh, and then there was his hood, which needed more than one good shake. The armored shoulder bit on his coat also needed its own good shake, and his boots... Was he walking on all of that the whole time?! Wow, explained some things. Socks-- Nah, not outside. Not his bag, either. Hair, though. That was... frankly embarrassing to watch the grains drop to the top of the pile he was leaving. That'd have to do.

Nnoitra would pass by several people who were carrying flowers in pots or in arrangements to be heading back to where they came from. While the inside of the flower shop had just one or two customers looking over the varieties of flowers and plants. With two Latino women in green aprons helping the customers to be very cheerful as they work. While a young man with blue hair sitting in front of the register. Aqua on his shoulder for the kitten to be chewing on his hair with obvious enjoyment.
Wesson pokes his head out from behind the counter to just charge full speed ahead to Nnoitra. The puppy hugging his leg to wag that tail and growl in a playful manner. The one Latino woman with her hair done in braids openly smiling at the sight to wave at Nnoitra. Her name tag reading 'Rosa' as she speaks to Nnoitra directly. "You must be Nnoitra. Come right on in, once Wesson decides to let go of your leg. Adelha is upstairs getting things situated. So just head behind the counter and up the stairs. She is super excited to see you."
Wesson hops up and down to run circles around Nnoitra in gleeful excitement. Following Nnoitra for the young man at the counter to give a small smile at the sight. His one hand reaching up to give Nnoitra a wave before he moves to give Aqua some affectionate ear scratches. The kitten purring to turn into a happy fluffball of delight. A necklace around his neck to have dog tags that click when he moves. While his nametag on his hoodie reads "Jakes' for him to soon get up and open the door behind the counter for Nnoitra. Stepping aside to let Nnoitra walk past with a friendly kind of two finger salute. Wesson pausing to woof at Jakes before barreling full tilt up the stairs with happy barks and yips.
Continuation of this thread with @despairforme here:
After a couple of minutes, Nnoitra's phone would start quacking again. The reply being another audio message. "Wonderful! I could use a strong pair of arms to help with several tasks I keep having to put off. One of which is fixing a table that I use for mixing potting soil. So feel free to come to the flower shop. The greenhouse is actually on the top floor of the building."
Another message soon follows the first for the phone to quack again. But this time it is a photograph. That of the greenhouse interior. Which looks very pristine and full of greenery. From berry plants to lots of flowers to herbs and even a couple of tree saplings. Nnoitra would even see that Wesson is hiding under a table to be chasing a ladybug along the floor.

Adelha openly hums a warm note to be smiling brightly. A light blush dusting over her nose as the puppy gives a grumble before rolling over in Adelha’s lap. Her gloved hands gently rubbing the ears of the puppy as it dozes on. The faintest scent of lavender tickling Kyoraku’s nose on the breeze. “In truth, I would have liked for us to meet much sooner. Yet it never seemed to be a good time whenever Urahara would bring me to deliver goods to the various Divisions. To sit here with you in this peaceful place is a true treat.”
The puppy stirs to give a very big yawn for such a little pup. The puppy looking to Kyoraku to wag his tail and give a woof of hello. Which has Adelha chuckle to then give the puppy a pat on the back. “Yes Wesson. We have a new friend to sit with today. Wesson, this is Captain Kyoraku. Captain Kyoraku, this little scamp is named Wesson. A treasured member of my family and a reliable guard puppy.”
Wesson soon shifts to be sitting up and give a happy yip of noise. Looking quite proud of being called a good guard. Lifting his one paw to wave at Kyoraku in the hopes of getting head pats. Tail still wagging as Wesson gives another woof.
@adelha-mathilde
It was a tad unexpected for Captain Kyoraku to be visiting the Living World during this time of the day. But it was a wonderful day out today. So him sitting down beside the lady would be more than welcome. The park is bustling with people walking their dogs or children playing. The white-haired woman currently sitting on a park bench with a puppy in her lap. The puppy is obviously too tired to keep walking to be dozing in her lap. While the lady herself looks to Captain Kyoraku with warmth to give him a polite smile. "Well. Good day to you. I wasn't expecting to meet such a handsome soul on my walk with Wesson. I am called Adelha. Perhaps you are the Captain Kyoraku that Urahara and Ukitake mentioned to me?"
he normally hardly ever went to the living world. but after everything that happened and all the changes it caused. it seemed this was a new change he had adopted himself. he was used to escaping before, perhaps this place, the world of the humans, had become his new escape now. and when he had been idly walking through a park after visiting a friend and two, he happened to find a familiar face. one he wasn't well acquainted with but had shown him kindness many a time before. what a chance meeting this turned out to be. a small smile curled his lips as he went to sit beside the lady who happened to not be alone after all but with a little furry friend as well. at her words, his smile grew and he chuckled. ' handsome? hm, you're too kind. it's lovely to finally have a name to go alone with that pretty face. yeah, that's me. '

Adelha moved Vash with care to just situate him into her lap. Resting his head on her shoulder to sigh and hug him close. While Wesson moved to this new person to wag his tail and ruff a greeting. So it was Chester that answered the good samaritan. Wearing sunglasses as he flashed a happy smile. "Most of us are just dandy, friend. One of us is just three sheets to the wind. But we've got a ride home and will be able to put him to bed once we get back. I'm also a doctor and can treat the drunk young man if he turns for the worse. I don't think he will do more than throw up the booze and have a hangover by tomorrow. We appreciate the concern, though."
Wesson decides to wander back over to Adelha and Vash and just clamber up into the blonde's lap and yawn. While Adelha dabbed at Vash's head and face with that cool cloth to tisk at him. "You will be able to sleep when I get you home, love. Then we will see to food and probably a bath for you and the little scamps. Heaven knows Wesson will need a bath after rolling around in the dirt all day." Chester looks amused as Aqua gives a mew of question. So Chester pets her ears for the kitten to purr like a tiny motor. But Adelha looks to the good samaritan to smile and chuckle. "Someone is simply learning the lesson of counting his cups. A hard lesson to learn in the moment. But we'll be fine. Travel safely on your way home, friend. There was going to be a storm later on tonight."
The group would wait until the good samaritan was gone to move back into the pagoda for this 'trip home' as the sky started to darken. Vash nestled in Adelha's arms with unusual ease as Chester carried Aqua and a now dozing Wesson. Adelha sits herself in the middle of the pagoda to keep Vash in her lap. That cool cloth scented of lavender and salt water as Adelha sighs. "What a turn of events this turned into. Our plus one is going to have questions." Chester asks a question in that lilted dialect for Adelha to answer in the same tongue. Making Chester hum to adjust the sunglasses. A pure warm power wafting around the pagoda as Chester touches one of the wooden beams of the pagoda to click his tongue and frown. "No wonder they told me to get my tail in gear to pick you up. But I doubt they knew that fact. In any case. Finding two Starborne as we've named them is not coincidence. Hopefully the one you are trying to barter with is not too upset at one of his kin being half out of his head right now."
Adelha sighs as Aqua crawls out of Chester's hold to hop down and right into Vash's lap. The kitten crawling up to lick at his face with that pink tongue. Maybe her way of making him feel better. Yet Adelha seems concerned to state, "The situation will never be ideal. But we do need things this dusty world has in abundance. Our population dwindles by the decade. Having humans moved back to our world would mean much hard work and much turmoil. But it's better to add humans to our communities and bloodlines than having us die out. How did the numbers look last you checked?" Chester grimaces to not look pleased. "The old farts tried to avoid the subject entirely. But we're down to about thirty nine percent. In another few centuries, that number will be down to ten percent. I may not mind fathering little waifs with lovely ladies of any race. But I am a poor choice to be the next Adam." Adelha gives a snort at that fact to then heave a sigh of air. "So it's worse than I was told. Terrific. But this world has good humans and plenty of Starborne to reach out to. If we stay the course and be honest with those we barter with, I am sure Yeshuah will do the rest." Chester chuckles to look highly amused. "That's my Delly dear. Always the optimist when it comes to anything and everything. But we just need to wait for our plus one to get back to the pagoda and activate the Teleport spell. Then will be whisked back home to your lush island sanctuary."

Both Adelha and Chester look all but panicked as Vash chugs the flask contents. Which has Adelha move forwards to grip Vash by the shoulders and keep him from toppling over once eh gets out his given question. Her words spoken in a rapid fire German dialect as Chester starts cackling where he sits. Obviously, that was a very bad idea for Vash to do.
The blonde would feel the burn of the alcohol hit like a shotgun to his insides. Since the absinthe is extremely potent for the blonde to feel like he just drank his body weight in booze. A fuzzy heat cascading over his brain as he feels Adelha move him to sit on the actual ground. Her words muddled and still in that other dialect as the world around him swims. While he feels the tingling of the alcohol go everywhere and even places he didn't know existed.
Chester watches Vash with evident amusement to note with a chuckle, "That was one sure way to ruin your insides. Absinthe tends to be 40 to 80 percent alcohol with agents that cause hallucinations. You are definitely not fit to drive or walk or even sit upright anymore, sir. I like this one, Delly dear. We should take him with us and see what other funny things he does."
Adelha looks very concerned as she shakes her head to place a cool wet cloth to Vash's forehead. "Not funny, Chester. As for you, Vash. There is no way you can go anywhere after that. I will have to take you with us, now. If only to make sure you don't get kidnapped or killed by some vagrant or villain." So Adelha makes a choice to take out her crystal and flick it once. Changing the color of the crystal from blue to green. Meaning that Knives would see the change in his. Then Adelha pockets the crystal as Wesson lays himself on Vash's leg to give a whine of worry. So Adelha tells the puppy with calm words, "It will be okay. Your friend is just going to need to sleep for a while and let the drink work it's way through him. Honestly. I said a sip for a reason, Vash. You aren't getting another or anything else. As of right now you are grounded."
Adelha watches the blonde with warmth and understanding. Looking sad but accepting of his answer. But then something catches her immediate attention to have her stiffen in her seat. Since the pagoda is beginning to glow like someone tossed a ton of glitter onto every single surface. Making the lady give a comment in that lilted dialect as a popping noise is audible. A bunch of smoke blowing out of the pagoda to then dissipate. Leaving behind a figure of what one might assume to be a man in a suit and top hat.
Except for the fact said man had a very long purple cat tail that was swishing gently behind him. As well as prominent cat ears that showed the moment he took off the top hat. Golden eyes a dead give away that this one was anything but human as he grinned with teeth akin to that of a shark. His gaze going to both the blonde and Adelha for him to saunter over to them. "I do so pray you'll be willing to forgive my impatience, Delly dearest. But I and many others are beside ourselves to see you. So I took some liberties and finished the transportation spell for you. I see you added two new treasures to your entourage to spoil rotten."
Adelha sets the kitten down for the fluffy creature to scamper over to this odd person and pounce right on his foot. The top hat cat person scooping the kitten up to purr at with evident delight. While Adelha heaves a vehement sigh of air to then look to Vash. "This is Chester. Someone who deeply enjoys breaking rules and causing chaos. He's helping me with a very serious and possibly dangerous plan to help both our own world and this one." The one called Chester openly rumbles a chuckle of noise as Wesson scoots a bit closer to Vash. Looking to be a tad hesitant to get too close as the cat man gives Vash a sweeping bow to tip his top hat with his free hand. "Greetings to you, sir. I am indeed going by the name Chester these days. One of the many names I have used over the millenia. Before you faint, take a few breaths. I promise I don't bite. Often~"
The lady rolls her eyes at a supposed joke between the two for her to rub at her eyes with a free hand. The other gloved hand picking up the flask to hold it up so Vash might take a drink if he wants it. "Here. You may want this. I'm going to have to do a lot of explaining in a second. So feel free to take a swig. Chester. Would you kindly hide the tail and ears for a moment? We do need to blend in."
Chester gives a look like he just bit into a lemon. But the ears and tail all but fade away to leave more human looking features. The scents of old parchment and frankincense for his cologne for him to get all the closer to the group. Which has the effect of Vash feeling like this new arrival is extremely powerful. Enough to dwarf the energy of even a hundred active Plants. Yet Chester seems fully content to simply sit himself on the ground and openly cuddle the kitten in his hands. Showering the little furball with kisses as Wesson rubs his head to Vash's leg to give a whine for attention. While Adelha still holds the flask out to look up to the sky and mutter something in that lilted dialect. But then she states, "Heaven give me patience. So then. Vash. When you are ready. Feel free to ask your questions. I will do my best to answer them."

Feel free to ask your questions. I will do my best to answer them."
Wesson is the happiest puppy in existence. Leaning into those ear scritches with eager enjoyment as that tail wags double time. The pup soon giving that hand licks to fingers to ruff and whine and just get all in on physical contact with those wiggling digits. The puppy soon flopping over to expose that fluffy tummy and wiggle in gleeful expectation. This puppy is going to get the most out of making this blonde his new best friend. Completely shameless.
Adelha watches the two with a look of thoughtful sorrow. A murmur in a lilting dialect that flows from her lips with gentle warmth and ease. Yet she soon moves to sit beside Vash to settle her duffel bag down at her feet. The flask of strong alcohol lifted to her lips to have just a sip before setting it down onto the table. A sigh of enjoyment apparent as the lady speaks. "Nothing quite like absinthe to warm the nose and toes. As long as you don't drink it like water. I see the hotdog vendor gave you a sample of his wares. I haven't had a hotdog like that it a very long while. But there are lots of things here that I haven't experienced in ages or have never witnessed before. Means that my trip here to this harsh yet beautiful place was worth the risk."
The lady looks pointedly at the missing limb to the heave a sigh of air. But soon she gets distracted by the fact her duffel bag starts to shift and move all on it's own. Making her chuckle to reach into the duffel bag and bring out an unexpected surprise. That being a very fluffy kitten. The mews accompanied by purrs as the lady lifts up the kitten to give the creature many face kisses. Which has the kitten lick Adelha's nose and purr all the louder. "Good morning, Aqua. My sweet little gremlin of chaos and naughty sock stealing. I hope you had a good nap while we made plans to go home. Once we get back home, we will have to give you a dreaded bath and something to eat."
Adelha then gets an idea to look to Vash with a smile. "Perhaps you might like to have more time with a playful puppy and this darling little rascal. I have a need for a pet sitter. One who will make sure neither of these little blessings wander off on me or get themselves into trouble. I will offer free room and board, meals included. There is also the offer of having a close acquaintance look into repairing your broken arm. He'd be giddy to tinker with what we've learned here to fix you a temporary replacement at the very least. We wouldn't be gone for a long time here. At most a week or so. But there will be a plus one to this arrangement. Someone that I want to barter with for the benefit of many lives. To improve things and perhaps avoid a long and painful ordeal."
The lady gives a chuckle when the kitten begins to chew on her hair. "Take your time to think on the offer, Vash. But I will be leaving by tomorrow. But I would greatly enjoy having you come along to my home. Especially if it means someone gets to distract these two blessings from toppling over books and getting trapped in cupboards."

The lady watches the blonde to then take that hand in her gloved one. A sensation of power and gentleness washing over the blonde for him to know this woman is definitely not human. A feeling of otherworldly energy soaking into the blonde's hand as she blinks a few times. Those striking azure blue eyes shifting to silver in the light for but a moment. But she soon grins at the blonde to huff a gentle laugh. Looking to be quite pleased. "Well. This explains a few things. Hello to you, Vash. It is a genuine pleasure to meet you. Wesson and I love to make new friends. So feel free to spoil Wesson with ear rubs and snuggles. He does not bite or chew on anything other than toys."
As if on cue, Wesson gives a happy yip to wiggle his whole body in excited expectation of the mentioned ear rubs. The puppy hopping up and down to get even closer to Vash and sniff at his leg. Soon giving a ruff of noise to circle the blonde and then stand on his left foot. The puppy openly asking for the blonde to give him pets and attention. So Adelha let's go of his hand to chuckle a bit at the sight of the puppy being so insistent. "See? He already thinks you're his best friend and wants to shower you with puppy kisses."
The lady then has a thought to place that same gloved hand to her chin as she ponders a moment. Giving Vash some time to think and or give the very demanding Wesson the attention he's been expecting. The little pup all but vibrating in his excitement for good pets from this new best friend.

The lady walked slowly so as to ensure that Nai would easily be able to keep pace. The puppy wiggled in her one arm to give her face a few happy licks. Earning a pleasant laugh that would be much like wind chimes. The long green dress she wore hid her legs and feet from view. Yet she moved with grace and leisure to a small pavilion with only a few insects perched on the roof.
The lady soon sat in the pavilion to break the hotdog in half. The puppy in her lap to watch Nai with innocent curiosity. While the lady gave Nai a look that was both patient and warm. Her words given with that odd yet sweet lilted accent. "First I would offer you a formal introduction. You may call me Adelha. While the furry one is Wesson. We are both glad to sit with you and share this small bit of sustenance as we converse. It would not be fair for one to eat while the other has nothing."
Adelha gave Nai a polite smile to hold up one half of the hotdog. As if it is a peace offering and gesture of good will. While the puppy gives happy yips to seemingly encourage Nai to sit with them.
@adelha-mathilde
Here:
It was the folly of mankind to ignore the subtle signature marks the universe granted them of the mortal danger around them. It was doubtful they would ever notice, even if the warning signs were blaring with hot flashing neon lights that spelled it out for them.
That was one of those 'hot flashing neon lights' signs of danger.
It was in the tight draw of his lips. The way his fingers curled into the palm of his hands. The coiling of his muscles ready to spring at a moments notice.
The vendor merely smiled, continuing his novice speech of the power of the hotdog and the pleasure it would bring to his tastebuds should he only allow his teeth to sink down into the freshly baked----!
Nai's eyes shifted to the sudden appearance at his side, an interruption that seemed ordained in saving the life of the ignorant human from what would have undoubtedly have become the most pathetic ending in the history of demise.
To the vendor? He didn't much care that the original focus of his attentions had not once acknowledged the attempts [like a cat, even the negative responses were critical to continuing the trade!]. Rather, he let up with pleasure that another had taken up the reigns, drawn by the power of his speech!
"Thank you, thank you, ma'am!" The man bowed, bowed again, "We have a wide range of a menu---"
On and on, but Nai's gaze had followed the stranger, turning on her heels and trudging in some direction that would eventually lead them away from the drudgery of daily meanderings of the town. He inclined his head curiously to one side, eventually turning to follow.

It's clear that the words the blonde has to give sadden the lady greatly. Yet she listens as the puppy woofs and wiggles to get the most out of the tummy rubs. Yet Adelha soon tilts her head to think a moment of time. "It is indeed very different here than the distant world I call home. There it is lush with greenery and oceans. Only a few continents are sand covered and sun baked. Perhaps that is why humanity has become so... A word for such escapes me..."
Adelha then has a thought to note the being before her. "Such an odd word for a very unique sentient being. Plant. But I have seen a few of them before during a visit to a facility. One of them took notice of a young man and unfurled herself. Gave all the other humans quite the scare for them to hightail it out of the room. So I took the hint and watched from the doorway. She was very beautiful. Much like a water nymph in visage. She gave a smile to that young man for them to have a moment to themselves. Like a family reunion."
The lady then has a thought to look to Knives and ask him a question. "Perhaps... You might like to join me on my return trip back home? See what resources we have there to barter for? Surely you would appreciate having things not made by human hands to use and or wear as clothing? We may share my world with humans. But there are more sentient beings like us you might speak with."
Wesson gives a yip of noise to then move so he might get close to Knives and sniff him a few times. The puppy soon looking up at the Plant to whine at him. Probably asking for ear rubs from the possible new friend as Adelha watches with a kind of thoughtful concern.
Adelha pets the puppy in her lap as the sounds of the humans around them echoed off the walls of buildings. A few insects buzzing overhead as the heat baked down upon those not under shade. "Such a vehemence to discern who and what I might be. Some might consider such to be very rude and threatening. Yet I am under the impression you see it as a part of your survival. If not your assured position in whatever wars you plan to wage."
Wesson rolls over for Adelha to tickle his tummy and get the puppy to growl in play. While the lady weighs her words to then sigh. "Let us say I am an observer sent ahead by interested parties. To see whether or not there is potential and resources for my associates to seek out and barter for. That was what I told the others in order for them to let me travel here to this world. Like myself, they are not of the human race. They seek to see if there is any value in crossing the stars to obtain new supplies. Some of them would even consider the humans as a good resource for either labor or leisure..."
Adelha makes a face that all but screams detest before she shakes her head to sigh. "Personally, I don't like the idea of owning slaves or servants in any capacity. All sentient beings have equal rights and hold unknown value. But that is again my own belief. You are free to scoff or dismiss such. So then. Knives. Who are you and what is your history that has you preparing for a crusade of pain and grief?"

Adelha listens to them look to Knives with a kind of weathered sorrow. Those striking azure blues held great sorrow and concern as she moved her feet up and down for Wesson to play with. The puppy being completely immune to such serious talk as he ruffs and yips in enjoyment. Yet Adelha just shakes her head to have another bite of her hotdog. Soon having that last bite to have finished it before she speaks. "I take a moment to thank the creature whose life and meat was given to make sustenance for others. May such mean those who benefit go on to enrich the world and give back in kind."
Adelha then turns her head to really look at Knives. Those eyes holding a kind of subtle glow for an instant when the sunlight washes over her face. "A blade may be used for many things. To cut down a tree to build a house. To shear wheat to make flour. To chisel stone to sculpt into artwork or bowls. To cut a hangman's rope to spare a life. Or to slice through dangers or innocent individuals. But above all else, a blade has no intentions on how it is used. In this sense, your name does not suit you."
Wesson ends up tripping over his own paws to fall over and whine. So Adelha scoops the puppy up to snuggle him and gives him a kiss on the nose. "What began this crusade of such burning conviction? How did your story start to lead you to such razored views and causes you such grief? Please enlighten this wandering one with clarity."

How did your story start to lead you to such razored views and causes you such grief? Please enlighten this wandering one with clarity."
The lady gives a thoughtful hum before she takes a bite out of her half of the hotdog to chew and savor the morsel. Another hum escaping that hints at enjoyment before she takes another bite. The moment hanging in the air before she speaks further. "A rather loaded question when one thinks on the implications of who one is and might be under the surface. But I will say I am a wandering observer for now. As well as full time puppy sitter. As for why I stepped in with that human..."
The last word is given with emphasis to then have the lady turn her gaze to Knives with the clear indication he has revealed something in his wording. A pause to punctuate this before the lady speaks again. "In the places I call home where I dwell with my family and friends, we don't use the given name of a sentient species like that. At least not when we wish to be respectful to a shared belief system based in the value of all life. The individual who offered you sustenance as a showing of good faith and possible approval to bring in more customers is just an individual. Innocent of many things and unaware of how vast and intricate life and the now really hold. But he is also a son to a mother and father. A member of a community. One that thinks and feels and has the ability to choose his path forwards. It would be a shame to lose all the good that one might bring about in the vastness of life for just trying to give you a hotdog."
Adelha then turns her gaze to Wesson as the puppy tries to jump down off the floor of the pavilion for her to give a command in a different language. One that is rich and deep in intonation for the puppy to immediately pause. So Wesson wanders back over to sit in between Adelha and Knives to play with Adelha barely visible feet. Since her long green dress is very good at covering them with layers of fabric. Yet she doesn't seem to mind at all as she has another bite of her hotdog. Soon stating something as more of a fact than a question to Knives. "You hold deeply layered animosity and rage. It hangs in the air around you like a second cloak. But there's also grief and mourning woven into that emotional fabric. So tell me, Knives. What might you wish to reveal about who you are?"

Wesson is all to happy to simply lick those wiggling fingers on that odd hand to ruff and pant as he gets to watch the two converse. Soon going back to giving the new best friend more licks to his chin. All the kisses for the blonde as the lady openly grins at him. Looking more than pleased to have her prop the door a moment before she just moves to gently take the blonde by the arm and walk him through her door and into the room. "Treating a handsome man to a fine meal is never any trouble. So said my mum and many other wise women before her. Besides. I hate the very idea of you being all by yourself with just some travel rations to fill that growling tummy."
The inn room would look pristine with a rather odd surprise. That being a fully finished hand made quilt currently laid out to look like the lady just completed making it. Various spools of thread set out next to fold out sewing machine with a foot pedal. As well as a few items of clothing that have been mended with care. The lady ushering the blonde over to where a wooden wash tub is sitting by the sink. While Wesson takes one look at the wooden tub to whine and make obvious noises of resistance. Yet all the puppy does is wiggle and woof his complaint. While the lady sighs to look expectant of this reaction. "See? He knows it is time for the sitting still and getting scrubbed of today's romping about outside. Unless you want to try tiring him out with some more play time with a ball or perhaps one of his chew toys. Wesson loves to play until he dozes off."
Wesson openly yips his happiness to just get all in on the hugs and snuggles the moment the blonde picks him up. Snuffles soon followed by licks to the neck and face as that tail just keeps on wagging away. Yes, this puppy is very pleased to have a new best friend to shower in love and affection. Although Wesson does seem curious at the face one of those hands is metal and not flesh. Giving that hand a curious sniff to then lick the fingers of that odd yet good hand that is holding him.
The lady watches the two with evident warmth mixed with amusement as she chuckles at the question. Not minding the silliness one bit as she turns slightly to open the door to her room. "That sounds like a good job for a handsome neighbor. You're hired. Do come on in and carry Wesson in to ensure he doesn't try escaping out the door the moment I try to close it. Actually..."
A moment of pause is given before the lady gives the blonde a smirk that speaks of plotting. "How about you also help with a certain bath regiment for a very active puppy? Wesson just will not stay still for me and always tries to jump out of the tub the moment I don't have a hand on him to keep him in place. It makes for quite the chore. In exchange for your help, I will treat you to a home made meal. As well as a meal to take back to your room for later. Does that sound good?"

But there's also grief and mourning woven into that emotional fabric. So tell me, Knives. What might you wish to reveal about who you are?"
The lady notes the name to nod before she reaches a gloved hand into her dress pocket. Removing what looks like a whiskey flask to then set it next to Knives so he may take a drink from it. While the puppy decides to try and get a nip at the half of the hotdog Adelha is holding in her other gloved hand. But she simply uses her free hand to give the puppy tummy tickles as she chuckles. "We are glad to share this moment in time with you, Knives. Although it would seem a very naughty pup insists on trying to spoil his supper."
Adelha lifts the puppy up in that one hand to give the puppy a kiss on the forehead before she sets the pup down on the floor. The little furball soon yipping and exploring the pavilion with eager curiosity. Having the lady watch with serene amusement. "I almost cannot remember how life was like before Wesson came along. Despite the decades that came before. Despite so much happening. This one little innocent creature has changed the day to day I enjoy."
