Barry Allen (The Flash/Arrowverse): ENFP
Dominant Extroverted Intuition [Ne]: Possibilities, or rather, impossibilities are exciting for Barry. Heās been investigating the phenomenal since he was eleven. Barry doesnāt need to see something to believe in it. He is accepting of change and is āopen to exploring something new.ā He tells Oliver that heās always wanted to be more. Becoming the Flash is thrilling for him. New experiences, new sensations, new possibilities. Itās awesome! Heās thrilled by what could be. Barry is very good at seeing beyond what is in front of him. His brain makes connections quickly and easily. When he realizes that the toxin was mixed with a sedative, he realizes that the Mist was likely someone who had been executed on the night of the particle accelerator explosion, and immediately has Caitlin find out who the arresting officer was, correctly assuming that the detective who caught him is probably his next target. Although Barry primarily uses his speed to help those in need, he also has fun with it. Even though heās doing it to learn more about his multitasking abilities, Barry gets a kick out of participating in a ping pong match with Cisco while simultaneously playing Operation with Caitlin and chess with Wells. When Barry sees a man hanging outside of a building after a bombing, he wants to save him and asks Cisco and Caitlin if there is a mattress store nearby, so he can stack them to give him a padded place to fall, but when they shoot that idea down, he decides to try to run up the side of the building instead. Barry is good at connecting dots and he was able to deduce that the Arrow probably had a team. He theorized that someone on the team would need to have a background in computer sciences.
Auxiliary Introverted Feeling [Fi]: Barry wants to use his speed to do good. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and is unable to just stand by when he could be trying to help and make a difference in the world. Even before he was the Flash, he got into a fight as a child because some bullies were picking on a kid just because he wasnāt ācool.ā He values heroism, compassion, and love. He typically doesnāt share his emotions and harbors a romantic interest in Iris for years before expressing his feelings to her. When Cisco becomes excited about the possibility of a meta-human who can control the weather, Barry tells him that itās not cool. A man died. When other people violate Barryās moral code, it can be difficult for him to forgive them. Heās very cold towards Cisco after he finds out that he created a weapon to stop Barry if he ever used his speed for evil. Barry opposes Oliverās tactics and doesnāt believe in torturing. Heās against using his emotional pain as a way to justify using brutal methods during interrogations. Barry gets angry with Wells for sacrificing Tony. He was a bully, but he didnāt deserve death. Barry lashes out at Wells for not caring about people and calls him out for approaching life like a game of chess and treating people like pawns. Barry holds people up to very high standards and expects the best from them, but he also expects the best of himself, and he can really beat himself up when he feels that he has fallen short. Barry has a bit of an identity crisis when he loses his speed because, without it, he believes that he isnāthe best version of himself ā the version that saves people and puts the bad guys away.
Tertiary Extroverted Thinking [Te]: When Barry realizes that he now has super speed, he wants to do something with it. Itās not just for him to have fun with. He needs to put it to use. When Barry is thinking, he typically does it aloud, allowing everyone to follow along with his process. Itās important to Barry that he gets results and is able to have an impact on the world around him. Although Barry doesnāt agree with torture or killing, he still admires Oliver because he knows how to get the job done. He likes having his success measured by external means ā such as the science trophies he won in high school. However, he doesnāt want them if he feels they werenāt earned (Fi-Te), which is why he isnāt enthused about āFlash Day.ā Sometimes, Barry can be very hard on the people around him, but heās usually even harder on himself. He takes failure very badly and hates when things donāt go according to plan. He very bluntly reminds Joe that heās not his father and remains resentful that Joe didnāt believe him when he tried to convince him that his father didnāt murder his mother. Although Barryās Te is developed in a lot of ways, he does struggle with it at times. Barry can be a bit disorganized and scattered and has a tendency to run late (even with his super speed).
Inferior Introverted Sensing [Si]: Even though Barry is very open to the new and the unfamiliar, there are certain areas of his life where he is afraid of change. He keeps his feelings about Iris to himself for a long time because heās afraid that telling her will change things between them. Barryās connection with his past is a major part of what drives him as an adult. Heās never given up on finding the person who killed his mother and exonerating his father. His memories are important to him. He enjoys Singing in the Rain as an adult because he used to watch it with his mother as a child. He also treasures the memory he has of getting a flat tire on his way to a science expo, because he and his parents passed the time at a local diner and watched fireworks together. He recognizes Tony because what he says to Barry in the present was the same thing he said to him as a child, causing Barry relive the experience and Tony's bullying. When Barry loses his father, he goes back and changes the past in order to save both of his parents. His response is to change things back instead of trying to move on. Barry is good at recalling all of the facts and data that heās accumulated. Sometimes, Barry can fail to take the details of a plan into account. Sure, he can easily break into Iron Heights and free his father, but what happens after that? Heād have to live the remainder of his life on the run.
Enneagram: 6w7 1w2 2w1 Sx/So (Note: Iām not entirely convinced that Barry isnāt 7w6 instead of 6w7 and may alter that in the future if I change my mind.)
Quotes:
Barry: Sometimes great possibilities are right in front of us but we donāt see them because we choose not to. I think that we need to be open to exploring something new.
Barry: Things arenāt always what they seem. Our fears can play tricks on us, making us afraid to change course. Afraid to move on. But usually hidden behind our fears are second chances, waiting to be seized. Second chances at life. At glory. At family. At love. And these opportunities donāt come around every day. So when they do we have to be brave, take a chance and grab them while we can.
Barry: Those guys were picking on kids, just ācause they thought they werenāt cool. It wasnāt rightā¦I guess I wasnāt fast enough.
Harrison Wells: The electron volts became unmeasurable, the Ring under us āpopped.ā Energy from the detonation was thrown into the sky. It seeded a storm cloudā¦. Barry: ā¦ that created a lightning boltā¦ that struck me.
Barry: All right, something happened to him that night. I, I think he can control the weather. The recent robberies, they all happened during freak meteorological events. And when I just confronted Mardon, the street was instantly enveloped in fog. Of course you donāt believe me. You never believe me.
Barry: āMeta-humans?ā Caitlin: Thatās what we are calling them. Barry: I saw one today. Heās a bank robber, and he can control the weather. Cisco: This just keeps gettinā cooler. Barry: This is not cool. All right? A man died. Mardon must have gotten his powers the same way I did, from the storm cloud. Heās still out there. We have to stop him before he hurts anyone else.
Oliver: So why come to me? Something tells me you didnāt just run 600 miles to say āhiā to a friend. Barry: All my life, Iāve wanted toā¦ just do more ā be more ā and now I am, and the first chance I get to help someone, I screw up. What if Wells is right? What if Iām not a hero. What if Iām some guy who was struck by lightning? Oliver: I donāt think that bolt of lighting struck you, Barry. I think it chose you. Barry: Iām just not sure Iām like you, Oliver. I donāt know if I can be someā¦ vigilante. Oliver: You can be better, because you can inspire people in a way that I never could, watching over your city like a guardian angelā¦ making a differenceā¦ saving peopleā¦ in a flash. Take your own advice: Wear a mask.
Barry: This is what we talked about: Me using my speed to do good.
Barry: You saw a man control the weather. What are the police gonna do against someone like that? Since the accelerator explosion we suspect there may be more like him. Joe: And youāre gonna do what? Catch them? Are you insane? You think because you can run real fast that youāre invincible? Youāre not! Youāre just a kid. My kid. Barry: Iām not your kid, Joe. And youāre not my father. My fatherās sitting in Iron Heights. Wrongfully convicted. You were wrong about him. And youāre wrong about this. Now I may not be able to help him, but if I can save someone from a burning building or stop some armed thieves, Iām gonna do it. And you canāt stop me. So donāt try.
Barry: Tony might have been a bully then and now, but he didnāt deserve to die. Harrison Wells: Does Caitlin or Cisco or me or you? I had a choice to make: him or us. I chose us without a second thought. Barry: Well, all your talk about miracle cures and scientific breakthroughs, but you donāt care about people at all. Harrison Wells: Well, maybe you care too much, Barry. I know being a hero is important to you. I respect your ideals. I just donāt have the luxury of sharing them. Barry: I forgot. Your gameās chess. Weāre all just pawns to you, right? So whatās your move, doctor? Which one of us gets sacrificed next?
Barry: You think Iāll ever wear it again? Caitlin: I hope so. Barry: I didnāt have my speed for very long, but now that itās gone, it feels like part of me is gone, too. Caitlin: With or without your speed, youāre still you, Barry. Barry: But Iām not. Iām not the best version of me. I love being the Flash. I love everything about it. The feeling of running hundreds of miles per hour, wind and power just rushing past my face, being able to help people. Iām not sure I can live without it, Caitlin.
Dr. Harrison Wells: Now, may I remind you, Mr. Allen, we had an agreement. We would help with your heroics out there while you would help us research and develop your abilities in here, right? Barry: Yeah. No, I know. I-I-I guess Iāve just gotten a little bit caught up with being able to help people. Yeah, put bad guys away. It feels good. Dr. Harrison Wells: Imagine how good it would feel to cure diseases, stop aging, reverse paralysis. Barry: All good causes. So, ah, how can I help you do that? You need more MRIās, more blood, orā¦ Dr. Harrison Wells: I need more speed. Barry: Okay. Dr. Harrison Wells: Speed is the key to progress. You need to kick it up a notch.
Barry: A friend told me I was given my speed for a reason. That I was chosen. I donāt know if I believe that, but I always wanted to help people. Now I can.
Joe: So this Flash Day thing? Iām hopinā youāre planninļæ½ļæ½ on making an appearance. Barry: Ahā¦ I havenāt decided. Joe: Bar, I heard the Mayorās trying to give you the key to the city. Barry: Yeah, I donāt need an award. Joe: You love getting awards. Like all those science trophies you got in high school? Barry: Those I deserved.
Barry: I mean, the truth is Iām stuck hereā¦ in Central City. Fear has kept me in that living room for 14 years. Joe, Iā¦ I was mad at you for being scared. But I mean, the truth is I was the one that was scared. Iāve been afraid of the man in yellow for my whole life. Thatās why I lost.
Barry: Guys, thereās a window washer, and heās gonna fall. Cisco: Donāt try and catch him. You donāt have super strength. Barry: Well, is there, like, a bed store near here? What if I get a bunch of mattresses and stack them? Caitlin: Barry, this isnāt a roadrunner cartoon. Barry: How fast would I need to go to run up the side of a building?
Barry: Itās just soā¦ huge. Itās the biggest decision of my life, and if Iām wrong, I canāt undo it.
Barry: The Arrow gets results. Joe: Heās a crazy man. Barry: Look, I donāt actually disagree with you at the moment, but we wouldnāt even have Bivoloās name if it werenāt for the Arrow; so, maybe instead of judging him, you should just be thanking him. Joe: Two things I wonāt be doing in this life ā playing professional baseball and thanking that lunatic.
Barry: Iām afraid itāll change everything. Felicity: It will, but maybe thatās not such a bad thing.
Oliver: Barry, I have been living this life for almost eight years, encountering things that you canāt even fathom, and I am still alive. Not because super-speed kept me out of the ground. It was because I realized that I needed to keep learning, keep training, keep getting smarter, and until you get that, despite your best intentions, you will do more harm than good. Barry: I finally see it. Youāre a little bit jealous of me, arenāt you? For a guy like you ā handsome, rich, can have any girl he wants ā jealousyās probably a new emotion for you, so you might be a little slow to get what it is that youāre feeling. Oliver: Thatās your theory? Barry: Absolutely. So you can train, lift weights, climb that stupid barn till your heart explodes, but youāll never be as fast as I am. Youāll never be what I am, and thatās got to hurt your rock-hard pride, Ollie.
Harrison Wells: We all want whatās best for Barry. Joe: If you wanted what was best for Barry, youād try to talk him out of this lunacy instead of encouraging him going out there risking his life. Joe: You think youāre so smart. All of you. But you donāt know what you donāt know. And I hope that youāre clever enough to figure it out before somebody gets killed.
Barry: The night of the explosion, find out if anyone was executed. Harrison Wells: Why? Barry: That sedative is given to criminals on death row before they go to the cas chamber and breathe in hydrogen cyanide. Harrison Wells: Thatās right. Caitlin: There was someone executed. Kyle Nimbus. Barry: Thatās him. Caitlin: He was a hit man for the Darbinyan crime family. They turned on him and testified. Judge Theresa Howard was the judge at his trial. She sentenced him to death. Harrison Wells: He must have been affected by the explosion while he was being gassed. Cisco: Records indicate the execution was completed. Barry: Thatās why there wasnāt a match. The DNA database only has records of the living. Harrison Wells: Right. Barry: He said there was one more person on his list. Check the arrest record. Who caught him? That could be his next attack. Caitlin: Barry, the lead detectiveā¦
Joe: Weāre going through some of her old cases to see if thereās a connection. Barry: Itās too late. I should have been faster. Joe: Focus on the job. Donāt think about that right now. Barry: You donāt want to know what Iām thinking about. My dad has spent 14 years in a 6Ć8-foot cell for a crime he didnāt commit. I couldnāt save my mom, but I can save him. Joe: Didnāt I promise you that we would get your father out of prison together? Barry: I donāt need your help, Joe. I could be in and out of there with him before anyone even sees me.
Wally: Okay, so you ran back in time and made a copy of yourself? Barry: Well, uh, basically. Yeah. Jesse Wells: Itās called a time remnant. Barry: Itās not something that I can do every day, but I needed a way to draw the Time Wraiths out of the Speed Force, hoping theyād be more upset at what Zoom had done than theyād be with me.
Barry: I thought being the fastest man alive would make my life easier, that I could outrun anything. Turns out no one can outrun pain. Life is tragic but itās also precious, and sweet, and extraordinary. And the only way I know to honor my momās life is to keep running.
Barry: Yeah, I may be the one in the suit doing all the runningā¦ but when Iām out there helping people, making a differenceā¦ youāre all out there with me. Finally realized something: we were all struck by that lightning.
Barry: Sometimes terrible things happen to us when weāre children, things that can define who we become, whether we want them to or not. Some of us become stronger. The people who took me in helped me heal and move past everything that happened. They are responsible for who Iāve become today, but I know that Iām one of the lucky ones. Not everyone gets that kind of support. Without it, I donāt know where I wouldāve ended up, or what I couldāve become.
Oliver: This is all my fault. Barry: Itās really not. Oliver: I tortured Markos to give up that phone. None of this would have happened if it wasnāt for me. Barry: I get the feeling you donāt say that very often. Oliver: To do what I do, Barry, takes conviction. But more often than not is the will to do whatās ugly. Every time I do that, Iāmā¦ Iām trading away little pieces of myself. So you asked whatās wrong with me. Thatās-thatās whatās wrong. Because the part that Iām trading away is Oliver Queen. And lately Iāve been feeling like there is nothing left, except the Arrow. Barry: I think youāre full of crap. Look, youāve convinced yourself that everything youāve been through took away your humanity. But I think itās because of your humanity that you made it through. You wouldnāt have survived, much less come out the other end a hero, somebody who wants to do good, if you didnāt have a light inside of you.
Barry: You were wrong when you said you couldnāt inspire people. Not the Arrow, that guyās a douche. But, as Oliver Queen.
Barry: You tortured that guy. Oliver: I interrogated him. Barry: When my friend said your tactics made you a criminal, I defended you because I thought you were supposed to be a hero. I thought we were supposed to be better than them. Oliver: Barryā¦ you live in Central City where itās sunny all the time, and your enemies get cute nicknames. Youāre not in Central City. Barry: Yeah. Oliver: I live in a city where my best friend was murdered, where a woman that I loved was shot full of arrows and sent tumbling off a rooftop. Where my mother was murdered right in front of me. So before youā¦ Barry: My mother was murdered in front of me, too. But I donāt use my personal tragedies as an excuse to just torture whoever pisses me off. Oliver: Well, Iām sorry, Barry, Iām not as emotionally healthy as you are. Barry: Whatās wrong with you? Oliver: When we agreed that you were staying, we decided that it would be on my terms, if that is proving too difficult to you, you know your way back to Central City.
Barry: Iāll never let the pain, the darkness, determine who I am. I will never be you.
Barry: Sometimes the only way to move forward is to revisit the things in your past that were holding you back. You have to deal with them head on, no matter how scary they may be, because, once you do, youāll see that you can go further than you ever imagined.
Barry: Beinā The Flashā¦ thatās the best version of me. If I donāt have my speed, Iāll never be that person anymore. I have to do this.
Barry: Everyone secretly thinks theyāve figured out what their life is gonna be like, but what no one ever considers is that life has its own plans for you, whether you like them or not, and so youāre left with a choice. You can either embrace the change and move forward, or fight it and be left behind.
Barry: Pain and darkness, it's a part of me. You know, I need it to fuel me, to push me to be a better person, to be a better hero. To keep me from ever forgetting who I am.

The Cucumbers Just Stay There
HOO Hazel Levesque and Piper McLean friendship fic for @theinsidiouscinnamonroll Candyās contest
Warnings: too much fluff, fluff levels hazardous, hazel is too adorable and needs to be stopped
āNico, I did not ājust get here,ā Iāve been at Camp Half-blood for a full three days. And iām just going to see Piper and Percy and Annabeth!ā Hazel mumbled as she walked out of the Hades cabin.
āOk, just be back in time for the campfire sing-along. Will is a pretty awesome singer,ā Nico shouted to Hazelās back. He just wanted to make sure she was ok; she had just been complaining of some problems with the Mist. Nico knows how competent Hazel is with it, and if sheās commenting about the problem, the Mist must really be acting up. Heāll have to head over to the Hecate cabin later to find Lou Ellen and talk with her about it.
Hazel began her stroll through the cabins. She looked down to admire the springy, green grass and flowers making their way in a line to the Demeter cabin. Maybe Miranda was feeling extra happy today and chose to go on a walk; she tends to leave lilies when sheās in a good mood. Hazel loved the warm sun in the cloudless Long Island sky. She could hear the dryads and naiads playing in the forest, and the huffing of the fauns - no, satyrs - as they chased after them. Hazel couldnāt believe how peaceful and laid-back the Greeks were. She spied a couple Hermes kids terrorizing the Apollo cabin with kazoos of mass cacophony. A group of Hephaestus kids were trying out their new Greek fire-shooting drone in some Ares cabin drill. Hazel could understand Ares kidsā spirit, but their discipline was severely lacking.
What are you thinking, Hazel? You know this is just leftover propaganda from your time at Camp Jupiter! Romans may be disciplined, but we sure are full of ourselves.
Hazel shook her head to clear her mind as she decided to visit Piper in cabin 10. A nice chat always cheered her up on the Argo II. Gods know she could use some girl time after that talk with Nico. Heās such a worrier!Ā
Hazel approached the doorway and knocked. Upon hearing LacyāsĀ āCome on in,ā Hazel opened the door to find Piper half-asleep reading a book of old Cherokee stories she must have gotten from her grandpa.Ā
āHey Piper. How are you doing?ā Hazel greeted.
āHi Hazel. What brings you here?ā
āIāve just been really stressed out lately and I thought we could chat to help distract from all of it.ā
āOf course, Iām always here for you, girl! In fact, I have the perfect antidote for stress. Wait one second. Lace, can you help her get ready?ā
āLacy, what is she talking about?ā Hazel asked guardedly. Piperās enthusiasm and that glint in her eye combined make for troublesome times.
āDonāt worry Hazel, just relax! Weāre here to pamper you,ā Lacy assured, āNow, show me your hands. Iāve got to get them ready for the manicure!ā
Ever cautious, Hazel hesitantly splayed her fingers for Lacy to see. There was still the remnants of some gold nail polish sheād tried to apply herself, but it never really worked out.Ā
āWell, nothing a little exfoliating canāt fix!ā Lacy said after a half-second too long of a pause. She began working on Hazelās cuticles with such tenacity that Hazel was worried there wouldnāt be any nail left to paint when she was through!
āThere we go! Good as new!ā Lacy smiled, proud of her work. After a quick coating of primer to help the later coats, Hazel got a good look at Lacyās handiwork. Hazel couldnāt blame her for being proud. Her nails hadnāt looked this good sinceā¦ well, since the 30ļæ½ļæ½s.Ā
Hazel didnāt have much time to admire them, because just then, Piper burst through the doorway from the bathroom carrying all kinds of supplies. The color range was the most surprising to Hazel. The various concoctions ranged from clear (nail polish remover was Hazelās best guess) to gold nail polish to even a container black as the night sky.Ā
āOkay, Gemstone, itās time to sit yourself down here and bask i the glory of Madame Piperās Pampering! Patent pending,ā Piper proclaimed. She only got this snarky when she was really excited about something, so Hazel obliged her request and displayed her fingers for Piperās inspection.Ā
āSo, Iām thinking this darker, brownish gold would do wonders to bring out your eyes. What do you think?ā Piper asked as a courtesy. Hazel knew she knew that Hazel would trust Piperās decisions, if only because Hazel trusted her own less than anyone elseās.Ā
āGo ahead,ā Hazel said,Ā āI bet it will look just lovely.āĀ
Piper got to work right away expertly covering each nail in a perfectly even layer of pigment. Hazel guessed beauty product expertise came with the whole Aphrodite kid territory. Sheād only known skulls and cursed gems as her demigod experience, and she would never admit to the fleeting envious feeling that came over her. But Hazel soon dismissed it. Piper was doing her a favor after all, and she loved getting to spend time with the Beauty Queen, as Hazel so lovingly referred to Piper.
āDone with the first coat! Now, as this dries, I was thinking we could try out this new face mask craze that Iāve seen through Iris-Messages to some of the Aphrodite kids who go home during the school year,ā Piper started to rummage through her supplies and gave a small noise of approval when she grabbed what she had been looking for.
When Hazel saw the contents, she was less than pleased.
āYou said this was a face mask, right? The only liquid darker than my skin tone? Is this some kind of joke, Pipes?ā Hazel inquired. Piper wasnāt the type for douchey humor like this. She was of Native descent, so Hazel thought she was more aware than this.
āWhat? You mean... Oh my gods, Iām so sorry. I swear, itās just a charcoal mask. Itās supposed to be very exfoliating and leave your pores clear. I can put it back if you want me to. Sorry, I obviously wasnāt thinking,ā Piperās apology was genuine.
āItās ok, I just have never heard of a charcoal face mask. Letās try it!ā Hazel said, eager to move on from the awkward interaction.Ā
āAll right, letās do it. Again, Iām really sorry. I truly didnāt mean that. Letās start with the cucumbers...ā
