so

you know what’s interesting to me about Galadriel’s line in LOTR that McPayne built a whole show around?

I say to you, Frodo, that even as I speak to you, I perceive the Dark Lord and know his mind, or all of his mind that concerns the Elves. And he gropes ever to see me and my thought. But still the door is closed!

It’s not whether/how/to what degree she can keep him out of her mind. It’s that he can’t keep her out of his mind.

He’s surrounded himself with mountains, with armies, with the walls of a fortress, with a thick blanket of cloud so his enemies can’t spy on him from above - and Galadriel can just reach into his mind as she pleases.
