As the sequels I outlined will likely never be made, their spoilers-
I had two sequels in mind for Jealous Gods. The first was "Vengeful Gods," and it covered Quail and Bridge as they evaded the consequences of the end of Jealous Gods, basically a cat and mouse across the globe where the mouse knows the cats every move, but there were some crazy wildcards and fun times. Also has Don return in a new form or a thousand because he copied his mind into many other people before the climax. Had a lot of stuff I wished Matrix did with the many Agent Smiths.
The second was called "The Lonely God" and covers Clarke's eternity, including his activity during the events of the Valhalla trilogy. He leaves Earth when the end of Gudsriki happens and it covers like a billion years before he willingly goes into the sun. The thing Bridge sentenced him to immortality for was that he destroyed something that would've been beautiful and amazing, and he's the only person who even knows what it was. So in the end, in the core of the sun after the heat death of the universe, is the one person who remembers and can never forget. Literally inspired by a kid who destroyed one of my drawings in high school and ended up being the only person other than me who saw it.
So uh, there's the whole basic scheme of my UCU (Unmade Cinematic Universe).
wait are you the tumblr blog who advertised some movie on youtube you were involved in that involved some college students getting wishes from some old guy in a cave? because that movie and its exploration of certain superpowers and their downsides is embedded in my brain but i cannot for the life of me remember what it was called, only that i learned of it from tumblr.
Yep, Jealous Gods, wrote and directed-

So after my annual reread of the Valkyrie trilogy by @the-walrus-squad, I got so damned excited that I went and put together a Valkyrie generator. Ever wondered who you would be as a member of the Hall of the Slain? Your team name, your Thaco armour, and of course your Tikari? Find out now!
(Let me know what you get, I would love to hear!)
Based on Valhalla by Ari Bach and its sequels.

The books came in!
I've read these books repeatedly as ebooks [x] but I finally got around to ordering physical copies! [x]
Thank you to @the-walrus-squad @facts-i-just-made-up for writing a fantastic book series, one I easily recommend.

last song: Dark Sword Angel by Danny Brown. I haven't listened to music yet today... *wastes away*
fave colors: Ask me tomorrow and you'll get a different answer... But right now: deep browns and oranges, mostly. I'm also partial to a dark blue or red.
currently watching: I'm picking away at a rewatch of HxH with one of my boyfriends who hasn't seen it. I don't watch a lot of TV, really. Sue me. I watched a comedy special yesterday.
currently reading: Gudsriki by Ari Bach, Caliban's War by James S. A. Corey, & Tevinter Nights.
sweet/savory/spicy: Savory, generally? I can like all 3 of these things, but of the three, I'm morely likely to like a random savory food. Most sweets make my teeth hurt...
relationship status: Taken. Very... But it depends? Dating is weird and complicated.
Last thing googled: sloppy joe origin
current obsession: I am, as ever, obsessed with Dragon Age, but I'm also very very into my own fantasy setting. I love monsters... I love magic....
currently working on: I have a huge fucking spreadsheet of character relationships for some 200 odd characters for said fantasy setting I'm working on. Other than that, um, I'm trying to take another stab at writing a ttrpg campaign.
people i'd like to know better: I have like 500 mutuals... I don't know... Just tag me...

^ reductive im just getting unreasonably amused poking through some book 2 + 3 scenes i love it when veikko and vibs traumasnipe at each other and i think it says a lots that some stuff they consider to be off limits. i do wonder what the fear hallucination sequence would involve if he had the information he has in gudsriki (i kind of don't have an actual beat on how he feels about violet after that but im also biased towards it being more negative because i think they are the bestest of friends ever and imprinted on each other) but tbh getting tortured after your girlfriend blows her brains out on you is pretty bad already. so im happy to just ignore digging into that train of thought. don't really know where im going with this one right now i like veikko even if he's fucking stupis
i can't post about okeydokeythen without a huge amount of spoiler and trigger tags but it's such a funny scene. if vibs wasn't there a certain someone would have died quite a few chapters early tho

Valhalla; A trilogy by Ari Bach
Well, this review is long due, thanks to my laziness in reading and writing. But it is finaly here, and I owe @the-walrus-squad one for sure.
Disclaimer: This is not a professional critique, I am just a nerd who loves books.
Valhalla is a trilogy of books by Ari Bach, consisting of Valhalla, Ragnarok, and Gudsriki. But, I mean, I鈥檒l leave out all the information you can, like, google.
How are the books, though?
Well, in my opinion, pretty good.
The story is nice, flows well, and Ari pulls some twists which not even George R.R. Martin would be ashamed of. Be warned, there are lots and lots and LOTS of scenes of extreme violence, and it鈥檚 all fucking amazing.聽
As all good sci-fis, the books show us the possibility of humanity鈥檚 future, tackling morals, capitalism, the internet, and, frankly (un)suprisingly, religion, and fanaticisim. That said, these themes are in no heavy focus. Apart from the religion, and even that is not the main focus of the trilogy. It鈥檚 not a series with any intended deeper meaning, I think, and it doesn鈥檛 have to be. What it does it does well, and what it does is provide a great story while providing some food for thought as a side dish.
The writing is good, if you鈥檝e ever seen @facts-i-just-made-up, you know what you鈥檙e in for. There are times when I get lost in it, especially when it comes to fights, but that might just be a personal issue. There鈥檚 also often a lack of descriptions of places, people, and machinery, which leaves a lot to the imagination, yes, but can also lead to confusion. I think it is not revealed that Pytten has an eyepatch until the very end of the series, unless I missed something.
That is a thing to praise, thouhg. Inclusion, everyone loves inclusion now, right? In Valhalla you can find lots of canonically gay and bisexual characters, and Pytten is a genderless fish person!
Over all, Valhalla is one hell of a series, and I recommend everyone to give it a shot.
Well that鈥檚 one badly-done review over, have a nice one!
