Pretty hyped for the new event that got announced. Thorns is a character I have always liked but he has so little story content unfortunately, so getting more is nice. Also the pirate vibe to the event is good, I am also fond of "sandships" as a concept, plus you can see Elysium and Weedy down there on the deck.

Making Thorns the Lodestar an alchemist is a perfect choice, it is gonna be interesting to see how they handle his gameplay though. Tin Man is already a strong character often worth using over many of the strong 6 stars in the game, and now we get a 6 star of his subclass. So Thorns is either gonna have to be really really strong or a minor enough upgrade that resource management wise it will not be worth going for him over Tin Man. I expect the first to be the case, but that he is broken more in a Ines type way and less a Logos or Wis´adel type way.
Arts fighter modules is the modules I have waited the most for, mostly for Guardmiya. So that is very exciting too. Image contains the creepy rhombuses and also Theresa style thread so I think this might be kind of a mind blowing module story:

And since Guardmiya´s talent is pretty great even fairly minor buffs to it would be pretty big of a deal. So I think this might be a pretty great module overall, especially with how surprisingly big the buffs on Medicmiya´s module were.
Also I just really really love the design for Thorns new look:

The black and white and alchemy things almost gives me an Ex Astris vibe (Thorns designer also did the character designs for that game) which I am really into. It seems he might have done something to his right arm too? Curious to see where this leads.

I guess Guardmiya and Ch'en have their S2 and S3 slash attacks, but I can't think of any other unit that has an animation of them leaving their deployment square to attack. Yatospin OP

Finally beat JT8-3. What a fucking nightmare of a stage. The main tricks I relied on were: - Use specter to tank the fire waves. She’ll protect a whole row behind her easily with s2.
-Gravel can also tank a surprising amount of those fireballs with her shield. Not the whole wave, but enough to keep the units behind her alive.
-Gravel and Red’s redeploy cooldown syncs up exactly with Tal’s burning breath cast timing. So they’re both perfect for baiting it out.
-LUMEN. He can remove burning breath with his skill 2 and 3 (but you want 3). Even if you bait out the cast of burning breath that hits the two most recent ops, Talulah’s attacks still inflict it. So make sure lumen activates his skill right when you engage her so that the operators in charge of attacking her still get to inflict decent damage (most of the time).
Even with that, I needed Guardmiya, NTR Knight, Schwarz, and Kal’tsit to contribute to the dps, with Mountain, Siege, and Specter as laneholders and Sussuro to heal thru the flame waves.
Jesus fuck this stage was some bullshit.

Decided to join the Frankasweep on a whim because my Fivestarknights might need her defense ignore some time. She faces tough competition against Guardmiya, my other melee range single target defense ignoring unit, but hey, maybe I meet an enemy who also has sky high resistance and who is not easier dealt with by Castermiya’s ranged true damage. There’s always a spot for niche units when you’re doing challenge runs!

Recently saw someone bring up how Degenbrecher for some reason cannot stop nethersea brand from spreading while her skill is being used, and I would like to say that this is for a very actually cool gameplay reason that can and has been abused a lot for some really cheeky stuff.
Basically while her skill is active she is not considered as being on the field at all. This is a mechanic also shared by Ch´en the workday and Guardmiya. So while it might seem dumb that using their skills can mean the seaborn goop spreads there is a very interesting reason for it... a reason that is extremely useful.
With this knowledge that they are not actually on the field during their skills it can give us a lot of interesting information. For one Guardmiya´s own passive atk buff talent does not apply during this even though basically every other type of buff works. This is likely just an oversight I think and is likely because she is technically not considered as being on the field, therefore her talent doesnt work. But I think it for some reason still buffs allies? Was some time since I checked this since I mostly use her S1.
But the more important one is it lets them dodge instant kill mechanics.
For example Emperor´s Blade is able to automatically kill operators in the mist he produces, but if an operator that would be targeted is not on the field he cant do that. So even though this is a forced retreat which would have even taken down Surtr, he just cant do that to Degenbrecher, Guardmiya or Ch´en during their skills.
Also using that boss as an example he cannot target them with deploying his mist clouds when the target "does not exist". So it will then target whoever did the most damage after his actual intended target or revert to standard targeting (most recently deployed operator unless taunt is lower), I believe if no operator is present he either cant deploy any mist at all or deploys it on his own tile? Not sure.
But yeah so plenty of situations allows Degenbrecher (or any other operator with this mechanic) to bypass some dangerous retaliation or otherwise dodge problems. Also if they get hit with a status effect but have time to start the skill first it wont apply until after the skill ends (or for Degenbrecher it will interrupt before her final slash because she returns to perform that one, since that one has higher damage and stronger pull force this can lead to a bigger loss in damage then expected, keep this in mind in case you have her dealing with frost slugs or something).
This also means they cannot block during the skill, which is sometimes a problem for Guardmiya or Ch´en the workday but Degenbrecher having pull on her slashes mostly eliminates this problem.

Speed kills are fun in this game For anyone who plays this, all operators have m3 except Mudrock (m1), Archetto (sl7), and Skalter (sl7) Irene is main dps, does 98881 damage to be specific. Don't have Suzuran yet but gonna see if I'm able to use her to negate THRM-EX's damage entirely so Irene deals the full 100k if I'm able to keep Suzu from attacking Edit: putting Suzuran below Skalter lets you remove Guardmiya too and have Irene deal the full 100k, no vid of that tho bc I don't have Suzuran and it's not as satisfying without the auto deploy
