1.Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve

The Dark Sky Preserve is a 4707 acre section of South Eastern Ontario that is essentially completely free from artificial light. Located in Gravenhurst, the region of Torrance Barrens was designated a dark sky preserve in 1997. Ever since then, the only man-made light going in and out of the region are the headlights of cars owned by stargazers. This wonderfully rocky terrain free from all light pollution gives you and your family a chance to lay out a couple blankets and see the beautiful night sky. Seeing the band of the Milky Way Galaxy stretch out is a truly unforgettable experience and it makes the two hour drive from Toronto completely worth it. There are many flat surfaces to pick from, so you will be able to set up your tent, your campfire, and your telescope and enjoy a wonderful night with the family.

 2. Elora Quarry

Elora Quarry is located just outside the town of Elora and is home to a gorgeous limestone quarry that is surrounded by cliffs. There is a large beach area perfect for lounging around with family, friends or even people you don't like. You could also have lunch in its picnic space or take a 42 km hike! Although you will be surrounded by nature there are two washrooms and a changing room on site making it a perfect hiding spot when your friends decide they want to take the hike. Alcohol and dogs are not allowed so you can also cry about that, but the view makes the few hours spent away well worth it.

 3. Scarborough Bluffs

Stretching almost 15 kms alongside Lake Ontario is the Scarborough Bluffs. A trip here would be a one stop shop for a dozen things to do such as, walking along the many trails, having a day at the beach and checking out their fully accessible garden. The bluffs are a geological beauty that were formed thousands of years ago primarily by the erosion of packed clay. The highest cliff is 65m above the water allowing for a spectacular scenic view. With so many various activities, the only real common thing between them all is that you and your family/friends will have a good time doing any one of them!

 4. Grundy Lake Provincial Park

Located in the Parry Sound District, Grundy Lake Provincial Park is just a 3 and a half hour drive north of the city of Toronto. This campground on the shores of Grundy Lake is open from May till October and has some amazing hiking trails, great beaches, and plenty of canoe and kayak rental locations! There’s a variety of campsites available such as RV friendly sites, backwoods camping grounds, and even sites only accessible by watercraft. With so many beautiful waterways, canoeing between the isles on Grundy Lake is the epitome of a perfect summer day!

I mean, come on….it’s Niagara Falls! You really didn’t we would leave it off the list, did you? For those of you who haven't been here seven times it definitely should the top place to go to this summer. Not only is there the beautiful Niagara Falls but there's also a wonderful city by the falls that is catered to tourists. Whether it be spending a couple hours at a top notch casino or taking a tour through the celebrity wax museum, the city of Niagara Falls is never short on things to do. Just be prepared to deal with the horde of people visiting it for the fifth time.
