Idk Years Apart is fun and it’s also making me miss Mother of the Year….. both have an “older” fem MC who’s been screwed over by her ex and has to take life day-by-day (MOTY mc’s broke but trying to give her kid the best life she can, YA mc’s living on her own for the first time since her 20s and trying her best to figure out what she wants to do with her life now that she’s not catering to Syd’s every need). The MCs also have to deal with a ton of misogyny (more microaggressions in YA than all the terrible shit [and racism and classism!] MOTY mc had to deal with, but it’s occasionally rage-inducing nonetheless) while finally getting to experience the tender, sugary sweet romance that no one has given them in 10+ years. Not many books can hit all the right emotional beats like these two so don’t sleep on Years Apart !!!
