✿ : My muse and nature. (for Hetty!)
Part of me would really love for Hetty to be a Nature Girl™, it would fit really well with her romanticism and general groundedness and really just... fold into her subtle mousecompany princess vibes neatly. But here’s the thing. Hetty was born in Shipwreck Cove and she’s never been anywhere but various places inside the shipwreck archipelago (e.g. to the lighthouse, probably to the spring.) Which actually brings me to (this) headcanon if you want reference for that but the point I’m trying to make is:
Hetty’s a city kid. Because that’s all the cove is, is the city made of ships and the tide. It’s suggested there’s a natural foundation of some sort at the bottom of the city but it could be just as likely that it’s ships all the way down, built by sheer force of will. There’s no earth, no trees, and no wild animals; there’s alleyways and things to climb and some number of stray dogs and cats that eke out an existence from whatever scant scraps the people who live there don’t make use of. So I definitely won't call her nature adverse- she likes the ocean, it's part of her home, and the trees on the other islands, and probably she has some flower boxes or at least a couple of hardy plants inside the tavern. But she's not a nature girl, she's a city girl. And she wouldn't choose to live somewhere wild. She's exceedingly domestic, really, and even sort of urban from a certain perspective; she cooks and cleans and reads books and she buys from people who work the land. She gets no particular gain from tending plants and has no dramatic attachment to animals. She likes her familiar streets; she would much rather be at home with a book than anywhere else.
