When the Groot build was still in the planning stage, I said to myself, “oh my gosh wool noodles will make this great and perfect bark texture” and did not even think for one dang second HOW FRICKING LONG it was going to take to make a metric buttload of woodles... then make another one because the first batch wasn’t a) nearly enough, and b) thickness- and color-variegated enough. [If you guessed Rooted Groot, you guessed right! I love Groot so much, he’s probably my favorite secondary character in the MCU. A lot of people refer to this iteration of the character Baby Groot; I prefer Rooted Groot, since to me active and depotted Baby Groot is first seen in the second GotG. Rooted Groot is my name for his second iteration (third? Do Rocket’s scavenged cuttings count?) and he’s awesome to work on so far. These shots take us on a sort-of-unpleasant section of building his facial understructure, every sculpture hits this stage at least once and apologies for any nightmares it caused. But he’s getting cuter and cuter!
