About Prerelease gimmicks - I considered the GRN / RNA guild-based prerelease kits to be sort of gimmicky. I'd love to see more stuff like that next time we visit a faction set!

The themed prereleases kits are still something we do for the appropriate sets.

expanding on this in a new post because I can’t find the reblog button on my theme

so maro deleted the post in question and we’ve seen GRN basics that have collector numbers past 259 and seem to be exclusive to planeswalker decks. (also some that seem exclusive to guild kits, but those don’t technically have anything to do with GRN.) this suggests we really are getting nonbasics in the land slot rather than basics.

past sets that have done that (DGM, FRF, and sort of core 2019) have had a cycle of 10 common taplands. but GRN has no reason to have the taplands for the other five guilds. however, it does have shocklands. five common taplands plus five shocklands, appearing in the land slot rather than the rare slot, would make a total of 10 “extra” cards to explain the collector number discrepancy.

this would mean the common taplands would appear at almost double the rate of usual commons. that’s a bit strange, but with this being a ravnica set that’s emphasizing five specific color pairs, it doesn’t seem too implausible.
