When the power went out at 8 last night I went for a walk in the darkness. No one else was out, there were no cars, just dark silence; every so often interrupted by the amazing echos of ice tree branches snapping and falling all the way up in the escarpment. Power came back on in a rush at 8:40 and suddenly the deserted neighborhood was flooded with Christmas lights and life again. The damage just in my neighborhood was pretty crazy, I can only image what it is like elsewhere.
