The Couple was painted from my wife, who posed for me for sketches and final canvas. The 2nd figure (male figure) was inspired by Rubens's painting that I saw at St.Petersburg's Hermitage Museum restoration studio when my wife (who is painting restorer) took me there and showed me Rubens's huge masterpiece that needed for deep restoration. So, I can say that I was inspired strictly by Raphael's painting which wasn't on display at least from the 2nd World War. It was strong feeling.
