mod what are your top five favorite DC ships?

thank you for asking anon :3 !!!! they mostly feature the same characters, you’ll see what i mean in a second, but the romance in DCAS is kind of in a bad state so bear with me

5. tremily - listen i know i don’t ship them personally and that they’re kind of having a falling out but let’s go a few episodes back where ONC could actually write healthy female-male friendships. if they wanted any guy and girl to fall in love and get together off-screen, it shouldn’t have been anyone but tremily. emily actually listens to trevor and vice versa, and it’s evident they care for each other. trevor choosing derek over emily is like the girl in a love triangle choosing the guy that knows no boundaries and is an asshole over the kind guy who actually likes her. also they’re queer4queer and i think that is beautiful. they could have such a complex romance or just relationship in general if only ONC knew how to write

4. gabellie/jaiden - the ‘vanilla’ canon couples are tied for fourth because they’re kind of similar to me. they had some level of build-up and miscommunication (jaiden being enemies to lovers and gabellie having that thing that everyone forgot because it didn’t ultimately matter in DCAS because ONC forgot they should care for their wlw couple and just gave us mlm drama) and they’re like. idk at the same point in their relationship now. been together for years, they’re happy & healthy. they’re good for each other. i wish they had more build-up or depth, but hey, ONC would find a way to ruin that too so it’s whatever

3. jajakeden - i find the concept of jake not only getting over tom and starting to date aiden, but also having an enemies to lovers arc with james, hilarious. jajakeden is genuinely so funny to picture. i hope they are happy forever

2. grettabby - i LOVE grett and gabby’s two episode friendship. i wish they were actually fleshed out more and given some time as friends to interact more but i’ll take what i can get. i think they’re very good together and i hope the finale offers us some crumbs of them in the stands or something. i love that they finally became friends after all that teasing and hoping and i am pretty content with what we got. could’ve kissed on the mouth too but hey there’s still time /hj

1. jakeden - i mean. you expected this. as soon as they started getting along i made them by banner on this account and went crazy on my main. idk what it is about them, but they had chemistry way more than the majority of actual canon ships. i think about the way they interacted in eps 12-13 and how they hugged awkwardly in the lie detector episode. how they helped each other despite everything. how jake grew as a person and actually showed it mostly due to aiden. how aiden genuinely prefers jake over ally. how far they’ve come. idk man they just... they deserve better tbh

While I do love the two Gabby+Grett and Jake+Aiden friendship plots, I feel like they needed more time to be friends. In both cases, one got booted too soon. Give me more positive relationships and less negative ones please. That's why Season 2 is best.

Also, it's hard out here when you want to find a good DC rewrite on Ao3 but a lot of them just end up having half the cast act like assholes to each other, even the ones who weren't assholes in canon.

agreed, i loveee grettabby either platonically or romantically idc (i ship them hard but i'll take anything) and i am obsessed with jakeden but they had such little time to actually be friends. the love triangles got in the way of actual development :(

im probably giving onc too much credit here but i feel like the fandom ignores that the reason why Jake was so insufferable in the mid to late premerge and early merge was because he was consistently being manipulated by Ellie, Alec and Fiore and had his jealousy and emotions continually exploited.

The Jake we are seeing now is the Jake acts we would have had if he wasn't puppeted around by the villains alliance. This is the Jake that can win.

Honestly if a single character mentioned that Jake was acting like that because of the manipulation then i feel like this part of the writing would be way more evident.

This also partially relates to how Ashley was honestly strategically one of the smartest contestants this season, she just had fewer available resources than Alec (only a few relationships when coming into the season which were all weak at best, no reason to make an interteam alliance early, actively sabotaged by jake being manipulated). She made a trio that liked her more than each other, was on good terms with cyan, almost managed to get the tie vote between her and riya (in which she would win the tiebreaker and create a heroes majority). Honestly her elimination episode was quite literally the worst case scenario.

Alec saw Ashley as the threat she was and had to get rid of her asap. The Gabby Yul Grett trio was a ticking time bomb that could have burst at any moment and he had to get rid of the most threatening hero before then to maintain the power of the villains.

I love that old man to death and want him in ways i cant mention on this family friendly blog, but Connor wasnt a better peacekeeper than Ashley. Jake was still feeling the effects of the manipulation, Aiden and Ally were still mad at Jake and Ashley literally had to speedrun a viable solution because she thought there would at worst be a 4/6 heroes lead. She didn't know Gabby switched until that morning.

Still fucking wild how Ashley had so much beef with an 8yo like girl😭😭😭.

oh right this is a rewrite blog. uhhhhh gabby flies and grett Minecraft water buckets so they also get immunity in ep13 and officially start a temporary alliance with the twinks to get yul and maybe riya out and the ep14 elimination is made normal and riya gets eliminated. or maybe she got immunity and ally gets eliminated for being the "safest" option to keep up appearances of still being in the villains alliance idk i didn't watch the episode yet
