Summary: You are Gregory's maid and in no position of getting close to one of the lords at the house. Yet an artistic demand allows colours to explode with love. Growing closer to each other, you fall more in love. Knowing it is wrong. When Violet finds one of his paintings of you, she is over the moon. Her husband not so much, certainly not when his son threatens to run away with you. (apologies I changed it to Gregory instead of baby Eloise since I thought Ben would be too young then.)
Tumblr media
“I’m going to get you.” – you called out playfully. Bended a bit through your knees, hands out as you chased after a young Gregory. Little Gregory of two of age, laughed loud, moving as fast as he could, hands bouncing up and down. You walked behind him making sure you weren’t catching him quickly. – “Gregory…” – you said sweetly, calling him over. – “I’m coming to tickle you.” – you teased making Gregory laugh even louder. His laughter filled the hallways. There was an open door as Gregory ran into it. You went after him, grabbing him from behind. – “Got you.” – you said laughing as you pulled him onto your lap. Smothering him with kisses.
“Ben.” – Gregory let out with grabby hands. It made you look up, gasping loud as you were unaware lord Bridgerton was in the room with you. Benedict looked away from his painting to the two of you. Barely fazed by the barge in, turning his gaze to his painting once more. You got up, curtsying deep for him. – “Apologies my lord.” – you said, keeping your gaze to the ground. Straightening your posture once more, you took Gregory’s hand. – “I shan’t disturb you any further.” – you addressed about to take your leave. – “It is quite alright.” – he responded, furrowing his brows at his painting. – “It seems I have lost inspiration anyways.”
Benedict took a step back to admire his painting. Sighing loud as he didn’t like one bit of it. – “I hope inspiration will come to you soon, my lord.” – you bowed to him, ready to take Gregory with you if Benedict hadn’t stopped you. – “Y/n, right?” – he asked not sure if he remembered Gregory’s handmaidens name correctly. – “That I am, my lord.” – you responded. – “Can you come and see what I am doing wrong.” – he asked, leaving room for you to join. His sudden request made you blink surprised.
“My lord I do not believe I will be of much help.” – you told him. – “Come, come.” – Benedict moved a bit closer, reaching his hand out to grab your wrist. You nearly tripped over your own feet when he pulled you closer to the canvas. Gregory having sat himself down to lay on the floor. – “Tell me.” – Benedict gestured at the painting wanting your opinion. You didn’t dare to look at his painting, feeling as if you were overstepping. Benedict took you gently by the chin, moving your face forwards to look. – “I want your honest truth Y/n.” – he took a step back to allow you to see.
You gazed upon the painting, clearly seeing he was indeed missing inspiration. – “What do you think I should do?” – he asked. – “I…I don’t know… my lord.” – you told him, taking a step back. Benedict moved closer to the painting to be able to look at you properly. – “You surely must have some insight? Inspiration or dreams to fill this canvas?” – he wanted to know. – “Girls like myself do not dream.” – you told him honestly. It made Benedict blink in shock. – “You… you surely must.” – he insisted upon. You shook your head to tell him otherwise. – “Everyone has dreams.” – he let out with a laugh.
“I cannot afford dreams, my lord.” – you answered returning to Gregory. You picked him up from the ground, holding him in your arms. Benedict kept staring, watching you leave with Gregory. You returned to the nursery with Gregory. Benedict left his painting for what it was, going downstairs. Edmund was on his way to the drawing room when he saw his son. Quirking his eyebrow up at his son’s expression. – “Is something the matter son?” – he asked. Benedict shook his head thoughtfully. They entered the drawing room together. Anthony sitting with Violet in the sofa’s. A young Eloise playing cards with Colin.
There was a knock on the door as you entered with Gregory. Violet got up, coming over. – “He has been washed and properly bathed, Lady Bridgerton.” – you told her, allowing her to take Gregory from you. Violet nodded, returning with Gregory to Edmund. You wanted to lower your gaze as your eyes locked on Benedict. He clearly was staring at you, a puzzling expression on his face. Quickly lowering your gaze, you left the drawing room. Waiting outside in the hallway till you were called back in again to come and fetch Gregory.
You were putting Gregory to bed, tugging him in when you heard the door creaking open. You just thought it would be Violet or Edmund to give their son a goodnight kiss. – “I’m just putting him to bed, my lady.” – you said out loud, rubbing Gregory over his stomach. You didn’t hear an answer, making you wonder if you misheard the door opening. You turned around, startled by Benedict standing in the nursery with you. The fright made your back hit Gregory’s bed hard. – “My… my apologies Y/n, I didn’t mean to startle you.” – he spoke with a sheepish smile.
“It is quite alright my lord.” – you responded, keeping a hand on your beating heart. Trying to steady it down as there was no danger. You stepped aside for him to say goodnight to Gregory. – “I’ll let you say your goodnights.” – you told him. – “I…I actually came here for you, Y/n.” – Benedict replied making you widen your eyes. – “For… for me?” – Confused you didn’t understood what overcame the lord.
Benedict nodded as you walked away from Gregory. Leaving the room, closing it behind you. Standing in the nursery, you started to collect toys from the ground to clean up. – “I…I came here to talk to you about your…dreams.” – Benedict spoke.
Stopping mid-way, you were stunned. – “My dreams?” – you answered confused. – “I already told you I cannot afford dreams.” – you reminded him, continue to clean up the room. Benedict came nearer, wanting to look at your face. – “But you must have.” – he called out as you turned your posture away from him. – “I do not!” – you made clear, not wanting to engage with it further. Of course you had dreams. You were just taught to never express them. It wasn’t proper for a girl of your station to have dreams. To see the world in a different way for it would only cause heartbreak. Benedict went around you to look at you once more. – “Y/n you can tell me.” – he said as it infuriated you.
“Why are you so interested in whether I have dreams or not?” – you told him, looking him dead in the eye. Benedict swallowed hard, staring into your eyes. – “I am insignificant…” – you added in a softer tone, holding a few of Gregory’s toys. – “Because I can see it in your eyes.” – Benedict spoke, taking a few toys from you. Tossing them into the play chest. His answer made you enlarge your gaze in wonder. – “There is a whole world hiding inside of you.”  – he said. – “There is not.” – you sighed out, tossing the last of the toys in the chest.
Benedict grabbed for your hands as your first reaction was to pull away. Remembering your place all too well. Benedict grabbed them again, lifting them a bit up as you didn’t pull away this time. – “I cannot have dreams.” – you warned him. – “Open yourself up to it Y/n.” – he whispered out, pulling you gently closer to him. Pressing your lips together, shaking your head, you couldn’t give in to it. – “Close your eyes… it will help.” – he told you.
You sighed loud, finding it extremely silly. – “If… and I mean if I let it out, will you stop bothering me?” – you wanted to know as you couldn’t handle his pestering you over silly dreams. – “I can’t promise you that.” – he answered making you want to punch him in the shoulder. – “Who’s to say what your dreams will be?” – he added pulling his shoulders up cheekily. Exhaling loud, you hated yourself for giving into it. You closed your eyes, pulling your hands out of his. Fidgeting a bit with your skirt nervously. – “When I… I close my eyes…” – you started hesitant.
“I see…” – you added, opening your eyes with a deep sigh. – “I cannot do this.” – moving your hands up, you gave up. – “No, no, no Y/n you were doing wonderful.” – Benedict called out, wanting you to continue. – “This is insane.” – you told him. He simply gestured at you to begin anew, moving aside somewhere behind you. Taking in a deep breath, you closed your eyes again. – “Every night…” – you began, biting your lip nervous. – “The brightest colours fill my head.” – you added with a bit more confidence as you could see explosions of colours in your mind.
“I think of what the world could be, a vision of the one I see. All those dreams for the world I want to make.” – you expressed with passion. Benedict stared at you, envisioning your dreams along. A smile curled up as he felt himself fall in love. Slowly you opened your eyes once more, feeling a bit embarrassed. You were afraid to look at him, wondering what he would think of you. Benedict walked up to you, leaving a quick kiss on your cheek.
“You’ve inspired me.” – was the only thing he said before running out of the nursery. Shocked, you gently touched your cheek where his lips had touched. Benedict ran up to his room, taking out a blank canvas. The entire night he worked. First with pencil, drawing your face from memory. Then the colours came. Staining his fingers as he blessed the canvas with wonders of colours behind you. As if the colours were bursting out of you. For the world you were going to make.
The next morning, you were startled when Benedict burst into the nursery. Panting loud. The first thing you noticed was the paint smudges on his fingers and face. – “You must come with me.” – he said, rushing up to you. He grabbed your wrist, pulling you up from the ground. Already tugging at you to come along. You protested a bit as Gregory still sat on the ground. – “Gregory, my lord!” – you said firm, pulling yourself free. You couldn’t leave him alone. Picking Gregory up, Benedict took you by the elbow, taking you along.
“My lord you promised to leave me alone.” – you told him as it wasn’t your place to be this close to him. – “I promised no such thing.” – he reminded you with a charming smile. You panicked a bit, hoping no one would see you. Benedict wanted to push you into his room as you gasped loud. Holding one hand firm onto the door opening, not wanting to enter any further. – “I cannot!” – you made clear, holding Gregory on your arm. – “You must.” – Benedict called out, pushing on your back to get you into his room.
“My lord I cannot.” – you tried to make him see, holding your position with every might. Benedict sighed deep, tickling you under your arm. It made you laugh, removing your arm from the frame as he could push you inside. You stumbled into his room, holding Gregory tight in your embrace. Benedict shut his door, approaching you. You blinked surprised when he took Gregory from you. Giving him a soft kiss against his cheek before setting him down. – “Go play Gregory.” – he said giving him a little pat on the back.
“Drawing?” – Gregory called out. Benedict collected some paper and pencils, laying it onto the floor for him to use. You hoped he had forgotten about you, yet he hadn’t. Benedict held his hand on your lower back, moving his hand before your eyes. – “My lord!” – you yelped out as you felt him push you forwards. Hands waving around as you hated stumbling in the dark. He positioned you in front of the painting. Removing his hand. It took you a moment to adjust your sight. Eyes widening with a gasp at the painting.
In shock, you turned round to him as he stood very close behind you. Blinking bashful, you stared into his eyes from how up close he was. – “You are my muse Y/n.” – he said moving his hand up against your cheek. Shocked by the touch, you stumbled back against the painting. Panicking as it started to wobble, but you quickly steadied it. You were afraid to turn back around, knowing you would get lost in his gaze. Something you weren’t allowed to do. – “My lord I must go.” – you said firm, stepping away from the painting. You felt a grip on your shoulder, making you spin around to him. Putting your spinning to a stop with both his hands around your arms.
You wanted to look away, but those eyes were enough to make you fall in love. Fall in love with someone you weren’t supposed to. Feeling yourself drawn to him as he made you dream. Dream of this beyond your control. Aware of what you were doing, you shook your head. Backing away. – “No… I can’t do this.” – you said returning to Gregory. – “For you.” – Gregory said, holding up his drawing as you picked him up. – “Y/n.” – Benedict called out as you took a run for it.
He reached his hand out to you, moving it up resting it closed against his forehead with a deep sigh. You hurried back to the nursery with Gregory hoping no one had seen you come out of the lord’s bedroom. Panting loud, you reached the nursery, closing the door behind you. Gregory held his drawing in front of your face, waving it to get your attention. – “What is this Gregory?” – you asked with a smile.
“For you.” – Gregory said as you accepted it. – “My lords, Gregory this is beautiful.” – you told him with a gasp. – “And it is all for me?” – you walked around the nursery with him. – “Like Ben?” – he asked you. It caught you off guard for a moment. – “As beautiful as your brother’s paintings.” – you told him, giving him a kiss against his forehead.
Benedict slowly opened the door, peaking his head inside the nursery. Looking around for any sign of life. Specially yours. – “Are you in here?” – Benedict whispered ready to enter more if it wasn’t for his brother’s voice startling him. – “What are you doing?” – Anthony asked with crossed arms. Benedict jumped out of his skin, turning quickly around, closing the door in the process. – “Lo…looking for Gregory?” – Benedict replied with a sheepish laugh.
Anthony quirked his eyebrow up. – “Gregory is in the garden with Daphne and Eloise.” – Anthony answered him. – “And… and his maiden too?” – Benedict asked, knowing it might be a dangerous question. It sure made his brother look questionable at him. – “Why is it of any significance if his maiden is around?” – Anthony wanted to know, moving his hands to his hip. – “Nothing for.” – Benedict replied, clearing his throat afterwards. – “I’ll… I’ll just go paint.” – he spoke making his way past Anthony. Anthony watching his brother leave with a quizzable brow. Unable to grasp whatever his brother possessed.
Benedict decided to take the long route to his quarters, hoping to encounter you. He passed his sisters room as the door was open. He paused, staring inside. Eyes locking on yours while you were making up the bed with another girl. You noticed him as well, staring back at him. He curled up a smile at you. You granted him a soft smile back before returning your gaze to your duties.
Benedict knew he should move, but he couldn’t help but keep staring. Watching you make up the bed. Whenever he looked at you, he felt inspired. Wanting to combine his dreams with yours. The girl and you finished up, leaving the room. Benedict moved aside to let you leave. The girl curtsied before him before taking off. You did the same wanting to follow her when you felt a grip on your wrist.
Taking a step back, you looked down at his hand around your wrist. Eyes meeting up with his, you knew it was wrong. Pulling your hand away, you broke free. – “My lord, you mustn’t let yourself get carried away. It is wrong.” – you told him. What would his family think. What would his reputation be after this.
“Y/n… please…” – he said reaching for you once more. – “I… I have to get back to work.” – you finalised taking your leave. Pressing your lips together, you stopped yourself from crying. Knowing you were letting yourself get carried away by these feelings. So caught up in the colours. You dove back in your work, trying to push Benedict out of your head. Preparing Gregory’s bath up in the nursery.
Hearing the door creak open, you had little time to react as you got spun around. Seeing in the flash of a second that it was Benedict as he pressed his lips on yours. Holding you firm by your waist. Using your elbows, you pushed him off. Touching your lips in shock. – “My lord!” – you shouted. – “You mustn’t. Think of your reputation. People like me don’t belong with people like you.” – you remined him. It was just unseen.
“I do not care.” – he breathed out with a shake of his head. – “Every piece of you fits perfectly. Why can’t you hold me? Why can’t I kiss you? I wish it could be like that.” – he said beggingly. – “I don’t want to hide it away. I wish we can be just us. Why can’t I say that I am in love? Every time I see you and cannot be with you, I die a little.” – he finished confessing. - “We know this, my lord.” – you responded with a saddened expression. –“It cannot be like this.” – turning your head away, you didn’t want to give in to it. Benedict turned your gaze back to him. – “I decide what I want and it is you, Y/n.” – he whispered out before kissing you once more.
Violet was humming a song whilst passing the rooms. Benedict’s room open as het gaze fell on something colourful. Her curiosity took the better of her, making her enter the room. Eager to see what her artistic son has been painting. Violet gasped at the glorious painting. It took her a moment to recognize the face. Looking down, her gaze fell on another drawing. Bending down, she took it, seeing it was another drawing of you. Then she found two, three more. A smile curling up on her face.
“Violet darling?” – Edmund called out from the hallway. Searching for his wife. Edmund noticed his wife in his sons room, entering as well. – “What are you doing in here?” – he asked smiling. Edmund came to her side, looking over her shoulder to Benedict’s drawings. His eyes widened, snatching the drawing out of his wife’s hand. – “What is this?” – he called out.
“It’s Y/n, Gregory’s maiden.” – Violet answered with a smile. – “This is…” – Edmund began. – “wonderful.” – Violet filled in for him. – “Horrendous!” – Edmund corrected her, crumbling the drawing in his hand. – “Benedict!” – he shouted loud, stomping out of his room. – “Edmund!” – Violet came running after her husband with worry. – “Benedict!” – he repeated loud.
The door to the nursery opened as the door slammed into the wall. Startled, moved Benedict away from you. Edmund furious as he grabbed you by the wrist, pulling hard on you. You screamed, falling to your knees by him. – “Let her go!” – Benedict called out. Edmund presented Benedict with the crumbled drawing in his hand. – “Are you in love with a maid?” – he wanted to know. – “What is the matter?” – Anthony came joining the scene, having heard the commotion.
“Edmund let her go!” – Violet insisted upon. Edmund inhaled sharp through his nose, letting go of you. Violet ushered you over as you ran over to her. Falling onto your knees as you collapsed into her embrace. – “No son of mine is loving a maid!” – Edmund made clear. – “Benedict!” – Anthony called out, agreeing with his father onto this.
“Edmund that is enough! Our son can love who he wants.” – Violet responded to make her statement clear. – “I’ll have her dismissed!” – he threatened. – “It doesn’t matter what you’ll do, father.” – Benedict responded with a glare. – “I’ll run away with her and marry her. I’ll make sure you won’t find us and you’ll never see us again!”
“Edmund!” – Violet shouted to make things clear to her husband. – “Look at the drawing.” – she ordered him as Edmund refused. – “Look at the drawing!” – she repeated while comforting you. Edmund flattened the drawing, looking at it with an annoyed expression. – “Tell me that is not pure love you see. Don’t we aspire for our children to love for love. No matter where she comes from or her status. Our son loves her, isn’t that the greatest gift anyone can give their parents?” – Violet said, defending you at every might.
“Father.” – Anthony said not wanting his father to change his mind. Edmund sighed loud, dropping the drawing. – “Love her with every might.” – he told him before taking his leave. A sign of him accepting the relationship. – “Father?” – Anthony called after his father, leaving the room. Benedict looked over to his mother, thanking her. She let go of you, giving you a little nudge into his direction. Smiling hard, you ran up to Benedict, throwing your arms around him. He spun you around, overjoyed that he could finally love you like he wanted to.

Bridgerton is a work of art. A masterpiece. *chefs kiss* 🤌
I admit, I am newer to the Bridgerton fandom, but after having watched seasons one and two, and season three part one, I can confidently say that I am HERE. AND I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I’ve found my people. I love a good period piece. Is Bridgerton the most historically accurate per se? No. Absofuckinglutely not. No. Not in the slightest. But the accents are accurate. The silhouettes are accurate. And the overall aesthetic is gorgeous. You can NOT WALK UP TO ME AND TELL ME THAT THE COSTUME DESIGN IN BRIDGERTON IS ASS. YOU ARE WRONG AND I WILL FIGHT YOU. Anyway, Colin and Pen are my new comfort ship. I felt good vibes from them while watching tik toks of them long before I actually watched the show or read their book. I LOVE POLIN SO MUCH. I like the other couples too, sure, but there’s something about Polin that is so SCRUMPTIOUS FOR ME. I love them. So yeah, live laugh love Bridgerton and everything that goes with it.

now that i've finished season 3 of bridgerton, here's a thought on what should come next.
since season 4 won't be out for 2 years, i say they should release a spin off on Edmund and Violet next year with a few time jumps to the present like in Queen Charlotte. at the very end of the show, the final scene will be Violet's masquerade ball and Benedict's meeting with Sophie.
that way, there can be a year/2 years gap between the spin off and season 4 and it fits the timeline of Benedict's story perfectly.
thank you for coming to my ted talk and i will be waiting for a job offer from netflix.

Summary: Penelope and Eloise meet a new friend, unaware that he resembles the eldest Bridgerton passed due to a bees sting. It is only Anthony and Edmund who see it when they meet you. Overwhelmed with grief and hope. Deep down they need to accept you are not their lost familymember. Yet upon knowing you have no family, they take you in as one of their own. [part 1]
Tumblr media
“I have truly missed our conversations.” – Penelope spoke, arm in arm with Eloise. Strolling down the gravely path down the park. Eloise hummed loud, her gaze briefly upon the pond in the distance. – “I must confess so did I.” – Eloise responded. – “Just don’t go befriending Cressida Cowper again.” – Penelope spoke with a poke of her elbow.
Seeing the jealous expression from her friend made her laugh loud. – “She wasn’t that bad…” – Eloise said seeing Penelope’s brow quirk up. Telling her the difference. – “From time to time.” – Eloise corrected letting her hip bump against hers.
Both of them sighed soft, reflecting the time that had passed between them. Both their gazes towards the scenery. Nearly passing a big tree. Eloise gasped soft, coming to a stop when an apple dropped close to her feet.
Not a moment later a person dropped down, startling the both of them. Both yelping loud at the sudden fright. You quickly turned yourself around once you stood steady on your feet once more. – “Oh sorry ladies.” – called out with both your hands up. – “Goodness, you gave us a fright.” – Penelope let out, hand pressed against her chest to tone her beating heart down.
Eloise removed her arm from Penelope’s, crossing them. – “Do you have a habit of climbing in trees?” – she asked with an undertone of mockery. You bend down with a breath, picking up the apple. You tossed it up, catching it again. – “Only for a good apple.” – you told her, holding it forwards. Allowing her to see how deep red he was. Eloise rolled with her eyes.
You chuckled a bit, rubbing the apple against your sleeve. – “You ladies want one to?” – you asked with some curiosity. – “No thank you, sir.” – Penelope answered with a polite dismissive gesture. – “They are the best. It will be no trouble.” – before they could decline another time, you went back to the tree. Jumping up, grabbing the first branch. – “Sir!” – Penelope called out, nearing with worry.
Eloise came joining her, looking up as you climbed your way up with haste. – “He’s insane.” – she whispered to Penelope. Penelope kept her gaze up. – “Do be careful sir.” – she said, hoping you wouldn’t fall and break a bone. – “Heads up!” – they both heard loud from between the branches. Eloise shrieked, leaping to the side. Penelope jumped aside as well. A moment later two bright red apples dropping to the ground.
With a huff, you landed back down. Picking the apples up. Rubbing them clean against your sleeves for them. – “Congratulations, you brought down unwanted apples.” – Eloise spoke joining Penelope once more. – “Really?” – you responded, taking out the third apple. For their entertainment you started to juggle with them. Penelope smiled, clapping pleasantly at your trick.
You kept one in your hand, grabbing the other one with your free hand. Tossing it at Eloise who caught the apple with a quick response. The third one you caught in your hand behind your back. Bowing to your public. Penelope clapped harder with a loud giggle. Amused by your skills. – “Thank you, thank you ladies.” – you spoke bowing some more. Eloise puffed loud with a roll of her eyes. Throwing the apple back to you.
You caught it against your chest, holding it in place. – “Come on Penelope.” – Eloise unhooked her arm back with Penelope’s. –“Were you not entertained?” – you questioned as they walked back to the gravely path. Eloise ignored you as Penelope looked over her shoulder to you with some good nods.
It made you smile back. Tossing the apple back up, you caught it again. Breathing out a chuckle. Glancing one last time at the ladies before heading the other way. – “Was he not funny?” – Penelope questioned. – “More like annoying like any of my brothers.” – Eloise responded, unfazed by the apple juggle. Both of them laughed, continuing their stroll before heading home.
A couple of days later Penelope and Eloise were out again. This time strolling the street on their way to the modiste. Arms locked in, walking side by side. Eloise was speaking her mind about some topic as Penelope got a bit distracted. Her gaze gliding across the street. Smiling instantly at the sight of you passing by. Hands tugged in your pockets.
Moving around nonchalant and a whistle. Penelope quickly tapped Eloise on her hand. – “It’s him!” – she called out, pointing across the street. Eloise stopped her talking, looking as well. – “Oh him.” – she responded unbothered. – “We should call him over.” – Penelope suggested. – “What no?” – was Eloise’s immediate response, but Penelope already had her hand up in the air.
Waving her hand for your attention. – “Pen.” – Eloise bit through her clenched teeth, pulling her friend’s arm down. Too late as you had already noticed them. Removing a hand from your pocket, you waved your hand up back at her. Looking quickly left and right, you ran across the street. Eloise closing her eyes, hands covering them up when a carriage nearly ran you over.
You had stopped just in time, stomach sucked in as the wheels rode just before your feet. Once it passed, you hurried over. – “Morning ladies.” – you panted out with a bow. Eloise lowered her hands, seeing you still in one piece. – “Are you insane apple boy?” – she called out. Quirking an eyebrow up with a quizzable brow. – “Apple boy?” – you repeated with confusion. – “Cute, but I’d rather have you address me as Y/n, but appropriately it is lord Y/l/n to you.” – you told her with another gallant bow.
Penelope curtsied back. Eloise with some more nudging. – “So like one of my brothers.” – Eloise whispered to Penelope in her ear. – “I’m sorry?” – you let out, having heard some mumbling but not clear what. – “Nothing.” – Eloise quickly let out. – “Are you ladies going somewhere?” – you were curious, balancing on your feet.
“Eloise and I are going to the modiste.” – Penelope responded, receiving a soft glare from her dear friend. – “Need an escort?” – you suggested, offering them both your arms. Penelope giggled soft, taking your arm. Clearing your throat soft, you looked at Eloise. Hinting at your arm. – “Miss Eloise.” – you said with a heartful smile. Eloise took your arm with a sigh. With each a lady on your arm, you guided them to the modiste. Conversating on your way.
Penelope opened the door to the modiste as you followed them inside. The girls immediately went to some fabrics. You came leaning against the table, hands settled down. – “Looking for anything particular?” – you asked.
Your attention got drawn away when the modiste appeared. She gawked surprisingly at you. For she rarely saw a man in her shop. – “It is alright, lord Y/l/n is our escort.” – Penelope reassured her. You bowed at the modiste. She curled up a smile, taking Penelope with her.
Once out of reach, the modiste pulled Penelope close for a whisper. – “Is he a cousin?” – she questioned. – “Cousin?” – Penelope responded confused. – “Of miss Eloise.” – the modiste gestured with her head at Eloise and you still in the first part of her shop.
Penelope turned around with a new set of eyes. – “No…” – she let out, blinking thoughtfully. – “He resembles A Bridgerton much. I thought I caught a hint of Eloise’s father’s eyes in him.” – she explained more. Penelope hummed curiously.
“Miss Eloise tell me does this colour suit me?” – you said keeping a piece of red fabric up against your chest. – “No.” – Eloise let out, pulling the fabric down. You caught something behind her, running around her to it. Pulling down the long thin fabric. Tying the ribbon under your chin.
Clearing your throat afterwards, posing for her. Eloise turned around, eyes widening at the sight of you. A yellow ribbon tied around your head and knotted under your chin. – “Tell me miss Eloise, do I look diamond worthy?” – you spoke with a tease. Eloise kept staring at you till she finally cracked. Laughing loud at the sight of you. Her reaction made you chuckle.
“You idiot.” – she responded untying the knot from under your chin. – “You laughed didn’t you.” – you reminded her as she placed the ribbon down. –“Only because you looked ridiculous.” – she spoke. –“But you did laugh.” – you teased, crossing your arms, leaning back against the wall.
Eloise shook her head with a playful sigh. Unable to stop smiling as something about you reminded her of her brothers. You started whistling a bit to pass the time. – “Don’t you have some obligations?” – Eloise asked snooping through the fabrics. – “No.” – you replied casually. – “It’s just me and me alone.” – you finished letting it come over more funny than it actually was.
Eloise looked surprised back at you. – “Completely no one?” – she specified. You shook your head to let her know there was none. – “I’m my own man of the house.” – you let your fingers go over some fabric, intrigued to how it would feel. It was smooth to your surprise. – “Must be lonely.” – Eloise responded. You hummed loud with a shrug of your shoulders. Already used to it that you had no relatives.
After Penelope was done, you escorted the ladies back home. From then on, the three of you met up regularly. Becoming good friends. All very comfortable around each other. Penelope had hinted to Eloise some time what the modiste had said, but Eloise didn’t see it. It was impossible for you to resemble her father. If it was it was mere coincidence.
“Everyone gather, gather.” – Edmund called out, hurdling his children together. Anthony stepped in, helping his father to rally up Hyacinth and Gregory with their everlasting enthusiasm. They stopped playing around, coming quietly closer. – “Can I bring my bow and arrow to the park?” – Gregory asked, holding it up to his father. Edmund looked nervously over to his wife for confirmation. Violet shook her head at him.
“Some other time.” – Edmund spoke with some sympathy. Gregory sighed soft, handing the bow and arrow to one of the doormen. Kate opened an arm to him as he came running over to her. Kate wrapped her arm around him, pulling him close to her. – “How about we’ll practise later tonight?” – she said to sooth him. – “Really?” – he called out. Kate winked at him for her answer.
Full of happiness again, Gregory left Kate’s side joining Hyacinth once more. – “Do we have everyone?” – Edmund said having counted the heads. – “Yes.” – there was in unison. He exhaled long at the large group before him. Almost all his children present, except for Daphne and Francesca. Yet Kate and Penelope were there to fill the head count. Violet came leaning against her husband with a smile. Satisfied, they went out.
Hyacinth and Gregory running past their parents with their made up race. – “Wait!” – Edmund called out trying to slow them down. They were already running up the courtyard towards the gates. Nervously he puffed loud, wondering how he would keep everyone together without losing sight of anyone. Hyacinth and Gregory neared the gates. – “What are they all scrawling about?” – Hyacinth called out in confusion. Hand raised up to block out the sun. Gregory pausing as well to look.
Eloise and Benedict passing chatting whilst Anthony and Kate were curious as well. Anthony turned his head, needing to do a double take at the sight he was seeing. – “Brother?” – he called out. Hyacinth lowered her hand to look at him. – “That’s impossible for he is…” – she began. – “dead…” – Anthony filled in with a heartache. Yet he couldn’t help but feel like he was looking upon his older brother.
Eloise turned as well. – “Oh lord Y/l/n!” – she called out, waving at you. You spotted her, waving back at her. – “You know him?” – Anthony turned sharply at her. His voice going a pitch higher. – “Of course, so does Penelope.” – she responded brushing past Hyacinth to meet up with you. Anthony looked in shock back at Penelope who had just arrived with Colin at her arm.
“Morning Miss Eloise.” – you said taking your hat off. Fumbling with it in your hands. – “Is that your family?” – you hinted at the people behind her. She hummed loud, taking you by the wrist to pull you closer to them.
“I don’t know he resembles him much.” – you heard one of them say to another before their attention went to you. – “Morning everyone.” – you greeted them. A few of them got pulled back by their shoulders, making way for a man. Presumably Eloise’s father. He stopped and gawked at you.
Making you feel slightly uncomfortable as a few others were gawking at you as well. – “Y/o/n.” – he let out, eyes getting glossy from the upcoming tears. You cleared your throat nervously. – “No sir… Y/n.” – you responded with a little bounce on your feet. – “Father?” – Eloise said staring between him and you. Edmund neared with a hand. Trembling as it reached for your cheek, letting it settle there.
A tear finding his escape, rolling down his cheek. – “You resemble him so much.” – he spoke. – “Who… sir?” – you responded politely, giving Eloise a nervous glance. Not fully understanding what was happening. – “My son.” – Edmund finished with remorse.
It made you swallow hard, taking a step back. Edmund’s hand lowered. – “I…I am sorry…” – he spoke but it was with such emotion, it didn’t felt just like an apology. It was if he wanted to apologize for something deeper. Anthony approached his father, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“It’s not him, father. Remember Y/o/n has passed.” – Anthony spoke in a tone that tried to supress his emotions. Edmund let out a loud sob, touching his son’s hand on his shoulder. – “I am sorry.” – turning half to him. Anthony nodded, wrapping his arms around his father. The moment was brief as Edmund turned back to you.
“My apologies… Y/n.” – needing to do much effort to say your name and not that of his son. – “May we invite you over for tea?” – Edmund suggested. You looked back at Eloise for confirmation. She nodded with a smile.
You accepted his offer, going back inside. There you were surrounded by Edmund, Violet, Anthony and Benedict. Those who remembered their latest brother or son the most. The others standing a bit further away, curious.
Edmund explained the confusion a bit more and apologized for coming at you so direct. You forgave him as it must’ve been a shock for him. For almost the entire evening you remained at their house. Feeling very much welcomed. Once Hyacinth had showed Eloise the old painting of their eldest brother, she could see it too.
The resemblance and the feeling she had around you. Like you were another brother. Once they knew you had no family, they took you in as their own. In some way having their family member back. Feeling as if this was him granting them some closure at last.

Listen, to each their own, however, I just wanted to talk about one of the few things I enjoyed (while it lasted) in season 3 of Bridgerton.
I absolutely adored Francesca’s character in Season 3 part 1. The level of introverted-ness and anxiety relating towards meeting new people and just interacting with others in general is the most relatable thing I’ve seen on Bridgerton and on screen. Her sole interest in piano forte and that being the only answer she had to most questions she was asked…again RELATABLE.
Then they added her quiet romance with John and I just ADORED her and them even more. I absolutely loved that the point they were trying to make with that was how not every love has to be loud and boisterous. Just because someone isn’t being Bold and declarative with their feelings, it doesn’t negate what they feel and it doesn’t mean their love isn’t as strong. It can be expressed differently and still be something so worth while. I felt like this was such a beautiful point to make and wish they allowed that to sit with the audience a little longer. I haven’t read the books so personally I don’t have much to add in the Michael vs Michaela debate going on, however, what was the point in them going out of their way to state how not all love has to be instant and all consuming to be considered real love and then they just kind of negate that by having Fran have love at first sight and fall for someone else in the same season?
To each their own I guess.

✈️ Colin Bridgerton Headcanons ✈️
This was requested by this lovely anon!! This is my first request so thank you for writing in! It would’ve come out sooner, but i currently have a mean tooth infection, nevertheless, the show must go on! Heads up, third one is a hint of spice. Hope u enjoy☺️
Characters mentioned : Gregory, Anthony, Benedict, Daphne, Edmund, Violet, Penelope, Debling, and Eloise
🎻= regency era
🧳= modern au
🧳🎻= either
Ps my request r open :)
Tumblr media
🧳🎻 I think he has a very realistic view on his brothers. I think he use to blindly look up to them just bc they were his older brothers, but as time has passed he definitely sees and recognizes that they both have some decent flaws. However, he really wants Gregory to look up to him the most. I don’t think he would ever admit it to anyone, but i feel like he could think a little higher of himself (not in a bad way at all) therefor he thinks he’s led the best example for how a man should be to Gregory.
🧳🎻 He gives off shy kid vibes. Like between the ages of 4-10 he was pretty shy only having like two friends. I feel like Ben specifically found this a little concerning bc he didn’t want him to have issues in school and life in general, so together they worked really hard on getting him to not only have more confidence in himself but actually practiced having convos. I also feel like once he got to the “interested in dating people” age Daphne and Ben tried their best to tech him to talk aka flirt with people.
🧳 (Lil spicy) Had a hoe phase in college. People are always shocked about how high his body count is (20+) but he was never a douche bag to anyone he’s hooked up with. I feel like when Anthony and Benedict found out on one of the weekly boys nights they have, Ben was proud and Anthony was a little shook. Anthony made him swear up and down he always wore a condom and then congratulated him lol.
🧳 Staying on the college root, he definitely gives off world history major vibes. He def was a foreign exchange student in high school (secondary school for the brit’s out there lol) and studied a couple semesters abroad in college. Specifically went to France in high school, then America, Italy, Spain, and India in college. He also makes it a point to travel every summer. I feel like he would definitely end up as a teacher of some sort tho. Like he’s definitely the cool history teacher everyone loves. Also hes definitely that teacher that gets side tracked easily if u ask him about his time abroad.
🧳 Definitely has more girl friends than guy friends, but not super imbalanced. He just gives was invited to the girls night out vibes. (I have a headcanon that i already wrote that i would definitely add Colin too). He definitely has his Boyz™️ that he hangs with all the time, but he knows they can be a little much, so i feel like when he wants to be social but have a relaxed time he hangs with the girlies. Idk colin just gives friends with everyone vibes.
🧳 I think Colin has diagnosed anxiety, and once he learned that he became more educated and aware of mental health. I feel like he started getting panic attacks shortly after Edmund died (he was 12 yrs old if i did my math right lol) but didn’t want anyone to worry about him so he just kinda dealt with it and kinda got to a point where he thought it was normal. It came up randomly in a convo with Daphne, Ben, and Violet that he gets them but at this point he didn’t get what the big deal was. I feel like these 3 took it seriously and once he got diagnosed he put work into researching how to understand mental health issues more.
🧳🎻 He LOVES to plan dates. His go to is always dinner at a nice restaurant then a show of some kind. Play, musical, movie out, doesn’t really matter to him. He enjoys a night in, sure, but what he really loves is showing you off. He’s proud to have you as his (not in a possessive creepy way, in a sweet way) and wants to show you off.
🧳 Colin is a little bit of a jealous type. We see it in the show when Pen is being courted by Debling. However, i feel like when he’s in a relationship, he completely trust his partner. If he sees someone flirting with you he will let them flirt but he will definitely swoop in with a little hey babe and a forehead kiss lol. If someone try’s to flirt with him tho, he will just start gushing about his amazing partner. I’m talking putting out the Lock Screen and going “ya look how cute WE are”. Once y’all are married tho he NEVER takes off the wedding ring.
🧳 I feel like he has a decent following on Insta and TikTok 😂😂😂. Not like influencer numbers but like 6k on instagram and 9k on TikTok. He definitely post all his travel stuff on Insta and does like little OOTDs on TikTok. Colin gives very much “gives a fuck about how he looks” vibes so i feel like he knows the fashion trends on TikTok. His “aesthetic” is like hipster mixed with old money (bc he is in fact, old money lol). Also yes, he recognizes he gets thirst comments and will play into just a little, but once hes taken he would comment my partner thinks so too :)”
🧳 Colin has secret tattoos. Like his friends know but he didn’t tell his family for a minute bc he knows it would become a thing lol. They r all small and in places he can cover up (shoulder, thigh, and one on his wrist he covers up with his watch) but one day he got a little careless at the beach and let them show. I feel like Violet had a “what did u do to your beautiful body??!!” mom moment, Anthony was pissed bc he didn’t tell him, Ben laughed his ass off, and Eloise congratulated him on doing something “actually risky” for once. I feel like after the initial shock everyone really likes them and he goes out and gets more in public places.
! Bonus One !
He still sleeps with his childhood stuffed animal lmfao like it’s a cute little elephant his mom and dad got him. He has had to do many repairs on it over the years lol
