Energy waste contributes to climate change

80% of the world's electrical energy consumption is still generated by fossil fuels. This contributes to carbon emissions that are warming the planet.

The energy used to generate artificial light (that escapes to space) is at least 1% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.

We have a huge potential to reduce greenhouse emissions by at least that much if we become more efficient at lighting our cities.
