My Review

OMG!!! This book!!! I applaud Abigail Owen on an excellent job. This book just blew me away. I absolutely love this take on the Gods and their mortals. It is unique, exciting, dangerous and very imaginative. It is simply wonderful. Not to mention a little dose of slow burn romance to light those senses on fire.

Lyra is in the order of thieves, yet she doesn't exactly have that skill set. She struggles with loneliness due to the fact that Zeus cursed her as a baby. Her curse is to be unlovable. Due to this curse she has never experienced true friendship or love. Mad at the Gods, more specifically Zeus, she goes to voice her anger only to run into another. What she doesn't know is that her life is about to change in drastic raise.

The Crucible is held by the Gods every 100 years. The God whose contender wins gains the God a crown to rule the Overworld for the next 100 years. The Crucible starts and the Gods chose their contenders. There is one major change this time in the Crucible, Hades. He has never joined the Crucible before and this year he is and his choice contender is a very unexpected person.

This book is filled with danger and monsters. It is a fight for survival. It has all the elements of a top paranormal romance. A well written story with a unique plot that includes unique and complex characters. Think Percy Jackson mixed with the Hunger Games and you will get this book. It reminds me of the Percy Jackson stories with it's interpretations of the Gods and the magical items they bestow on the contenders. The Crucible reminds me of the Hunger Games with it's tributes. An amazing combination that has created an exciting new story.
