Yes it's Oklahoma. This is the Great Salt Plains Wildlife Refuge. There are 11,000 acres of salt flats with gypsum concentrations high enough to grow selenite crystals. Digging for crystals is allowed, but only from April 1 through October 15 to protect this vital Whooping Crane habitat. We stayed at the Salt Plains State Park. We were right below the dam Great Salt Plains Lake beside the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River. This lake is dying due to accumulated silt.
