Charles Stanley John Lupton

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020, Charles (Charlie), beloved husband of Bonnie, passed away in his 82nd year at Anson Place Care Centre in Hagersville, as a result of complications due to COVID-19. Loving father of Debi Gregan, Carole Farnsworth, and Connie Scanlon. Dear papa of Kelly, Matthew, Adam, Shane (Beth), Tamara (Evander), Amber (Kevin) and Lorne (Nadine). "Greatpapa" to Ryder, Samuel, Domenic, Anthony, Christopher, C.J., Tyson and Leilynd. Loving brother of Richard (Wendy), Christopher (Maureen),Tracey (deceased), Joanne, Robert (Brenda), Paul, Leslie (Brenda), Mark (Terry), Marsha (Ray), Sharon (Jim), Marney (Terry - deceased). Will be greatly missed by countless family, extended family and friends. Charlie loved to golf and spend time at the casino. He spent decades at the cottage, fishing, waterskiing, and "tinkering". After retiring from International Harvester at the age of 50, he fully enjoyed a long and happy retirement. A funeral service will be held at a later date, once we are able to gather together again. Date and time will be announced when details are available.

This is my Quit Stick.

Quitting smoking is hard. Every day is hard. But I am a stubborn witch. Behold my Quit Stick! (Also plz forgive awkward ass photo, I’m trapped in bed by a purring cat and no power on earth can compel me to move)

Earlier this week I picked up some licorice sticks to chew on instead of my lips bc they have some super cool beneficial properties and don’t interact with my medication (blood pressure peeps maybe just don’t). I put them in a jar and spelled them with my intention of banishing my desire to smoke, anointed the jar with some of @ravenmagill’s super boss Forest oil, and did some hand gestures to seal it in (think shop lady from The Craft anointing her candles, but counterclockwise for banishing) ever since then just looking at the jar has helped calm my cravings.

But jar is not always there and kind of annoying to carry around everywhere.

Thus the Quit Stick. I cut off a piece of the licorice stick and used a dark red thread to tie it to a chain that’s nice and long so I can see or hold my Quit Stick anywhere. I used the same procedure to charge, anoint, and banish my cravings on the Stick that I did on the jar.

I’m not much for words or deities in my magic, but I did just feed my ancestor altar so I gave them a solid “dudes, help me out?” Greatpapa hated smoke, Sandra quit before her accident, and Ed would be proud of me kicking it even tho he never could.

Since I coated it with oil, I’m not gonna nosh on this piece, but hopefully it’ll make it so I don’t have to chew on a piece of wood so often or pull a yesterday and cave in to half a pack.

This little one loves her Great Papa; I think they will have a special bond. She watches every move he makes and talks to him, too. He even picked out her first Easter dress.
