Mending a torn coat pocket

I've got this black wool coat as a gift when I was 18 years old (my mum and grandma and greataunties pooled together for Christmas), it's from an Austrian designer and really well made. It's floor length and got a big hood aswell!

I've now owned this coat for 17 years already! It's expected to have some wear and tear. This year the one pocket finally tore apart and I had to do a repair job. I've decided against a new black pocket and did it in this gorgeous ornamental purple fabric.

I carefully seam ripped the old pocket, traced it onto paper and cut the new one. Pinned it in place and went to handsewing. I first stitched the pocket on, then carefully folded the seam allowance back and whip-stitched that down aswell. I like that I now have a repaired pocket and a hidden beautiful detail!

Bonus: my cat turning into a demon yawning.

His #mama had to go the doctor today and his #papa was working and #strollers are cumbersome in NYC so me as #GreatAunty got to sit with this #littleguy in the waiting room. And I held him when we went to the pharmacy, and the pizza place. He went from 5 lbs to 8 lbs in a month and at 6 weeks he has GOT to be heavier than that cuz #Auntie has #tiredarms. Sheesh!! God knew what he was doing when he made us start #life as babies. Cuz #babies are #awesome. They give you #Hope. Remind you of the #promise of a #goodlife. And even if things are #terrible and you want to give up, just smelling a baby makes you want to soldier on. My Great Auntie Nancy passed away on Monday. As saddened as I am about her death, I’m glad to hear to she died peacefully in her nursing home in Honolulu. She brought so much joy to our family and she always had a smile on her face. She was always so grateful and full of life and wonderful stories when we would visit her. We almost didn’t visit her in Honolulu in March, because my Mom and I were so busy with other deadlines. I’m so grateful that we went and got to spend one last time with her. I was actually just thinking abut her this morning and shortly after, I heard from my mom. Family is one of my core values and I will always make family a priority. We only have one life to live, so we might as well make the most of it and and spend it the the people who light us up and bring us joy and love! 3 generations. My Great Aunt Nancy, my mumma and I. We’re so grateful to reconnect with my Great Aunt Nancy, 93 years old, who we just met a few years ago in Honolulu where she is from. She was taken away from her family in Honolulu at age 16 and was sent to Kalaupapa, a centre for people with Hanson’s disease. Eventually, she was cured and was able to go back home when she was 25. Although, she has had a challenging life, she is so grateful for everything that she has and for each and everyday. She is a beautiful soul who I’m proud to be related to. She is so full of life, totally switched on and super cheeky even at her age. I’m so grateful to spend time with her this time around. My lil Fern bby is #WOTW and I recently designed her mama so I decided I'd definitely draw her

I have a lil head canon that most litter mates will sometimes just happily sit and catch up, but I imagine, with how sweet and amazing Fern is, her siblings love talking to her, and she loves to help and care for them.

EX. When Ash was sad about the breakup she'd often treat him like her kit, sharing tongues, making sure he ate and went on walks

I also imagine that Cloud really likes Fern, and is one of the few cat's he can legit say are his family despite blood

Here I imagine that Cloud is happily sharing that he is going to be a grandpa, and Fern is happy for him and excited to be a great auntie, and playfully joking bout how old they're getting.

So, lemme explain her design

I made her colours much lighter than her mothers, as her father was white and it makes her seem more soft. I gave her bright green eyes, with sparkles so she seems happy. I gave Brindleface a mask, so I gave Ferncloud a remanence of that mask, also some of Brindles body patterns. Also, fun fact, Mistystar is Fernclouds second cousin through Bluestar, her greatauntie. SOOOO I gave her Mistystars lil flakes near her markings
