I wanted to draw Minty for a long time by pledus_artist

These are grand! Always nice to see a green redesign, there was a tragic lack of green Ponies in G4 overall.

idk what prompted me to draw these horses since i haven't drawn them in like six years

i like designing them more distinct from eachother, i also wanted to add the early concepts of these characters and i'll put the explanations for them under a cut for whoever's curious

twilight: based on the g1 twilight but i decided to change her eye color to amber since i thought it looked more interesting! there's a lot of things i changed from what we know from the beta mane six bc i didn't want the group to be overwhelmed by either pink or purple since that's what a lot of the original coat colors had rarity: based on sparkler who had a couple green and blue versions (but i ended up freestyling a lot of this so she's the most removed from the original here) fluttershy: based on posey, also removed the wings since posey was an earth pony, added a couple freckles since i thought it looked cute pinkie pie: based on surprise, added wings since she's a pegasus rainbow dash: based on firefly, her colors i kept largely the same as well applejack: changed to her g3 version since she's the most unchanged anyway and it would've been boring to keep her the exact same, also changed the cutiemark to a bunch of green apples since the g3 cutiemark was more elaborate and would've looked a bit out of place compared to the others (and a red apple would've gotten lost in the red coat)

I spent a good 40 minutes on her alone because that frizz would not die down! Sure, it doesn’t look that bad in the photos, but reboot G4 quality is… something else
