Some days you look up the author of a favorite picture book and learn that she also did the translations you read of We by Yevgeny Zamyatin and The Master and Margarita.

#the picture book is How the Sun Was Brought Back to the Sky - adapted from a Slovenian folktale#I've never met a kid who didn't love it and want to be read it over and over and over#and it's one of those rare picture books that you don't MIND reading over and over#the moral of it is also 'if you feel terrible take a shower and be nice to your skin' which makes me laugh now#great illustrations as well (by Jose Aruego and Ariane Dewey)#pardon me while I go read through my childhood picture books and cry#thank god I hoarded these books instead of letting my sister take them where her kids would have destroyed them#some of mine survived five children born over a period of 14 years but hers often didn't survive one child
