Greater diversity within the fashion community opened up a space to celebrate all beauty and gave a platform for people with disabilities to be more visible. As a result we are seeing more people with disabilities making appearances on runways, on the cover of magazines, in fashion ads and beauty campaigns.

In his spring summer 1998 Age of Enlightenment influenced couture show, Bedrossiantz apps rated in a tightly corseted ruffled gown over a white shirt and tie an image so iconic it was included in the catalogue for vogues 2019 camp.

Illustration Research.
Tumblr media
Achraf Amiri is an illustrator, born in Brussels 1988, Creative Director and Founder of ILLUSTRASHION Magazine. Amiri is now based in London, where he made his debut as an independent Creative Director and Illustrator. Back in 2010, after graduating as a Graphic Designer from Sint-Lukas Brussels, he traveled to Naples seeing ways of inspiration.
Inspired by the world around him, Achraf alaways interprets his work with self-reflection and a critical eye and therefore, it didn’t take long for his work to be noticed and commissioned with numerous international organisations, fashion houses and print publications.
Throughout the last decade Achraf became a key creative influence, exposing his mischievous, yet romantic illustrious for the world to discover. In the press, it has been declared that he has killed the glamour in fashion with his distinctive aesthetic, challenging the status quo of how fashion is illustrated through exploring basic human emotions, such as tragedy, ecstasy and doom. I feel this illustrator is a perfect fit with the aesthetic of the film, his illustrative style would be perfect to capture the very nature of the film. I have explored this artist in the past however it is one in which I will continue to experiment with, the reason being, I struggle to draw really detailed, accurate hands, however, strangely I find drawing in this style relatively easy. Therefore, for this project I will be continuing to work with this style to really display my talents.

Elyse Blackshaw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Originally from Manchester where she acquired a First BA Hons in Embroidery from the Manchester school of arts in 2013, Elyse Blackshaw is a mixed media artist specialising in fashion illustration, moved to London in 2019 to continue her studies on the mixed-media pathway of MA Textile at the Royal College of Arts. Elyse’s practice primarily focuses on documenting the fashion world through expressive marks and a kaleidoscope of colour. Her fashion illustrations have appeared in publications such as Grazia and Vogue, and she has collaborated with clients including Selfridges, London Edition, Samsung and Westfield London for events, public art installations and workshops. Elyse is committed to using fashion illustration as a tool for social and environmental impact. Her facilitation practice encourages participants to explore experimental approaches to fashion illustration using existing materials.  I personally really enjoy the ‘unprofessional’ look in which this artists radiates. For me i believe I struggle with the accuracy of my illustration and therefore absolutely love the playfulness and uncontrolled aspect to these illustration, more specifically i struggle to capture the detailing in the face which overall makes the illustration look more realistic. Therefore, I’m really like the college aspect of this illustration and would like to explore this technique further into my own designs in the hope that it will better my illustrative technique.
Christa Van Der Meer
Christa van der Meer is a Dutch fashion designer and graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Since faces define the identity of a person, Christa uses this intriguing factor as inspiration. Experiencing with different mediums she now works on projects to find ways to connect her portrait drawings to her fashion designs. Her graduation collection she portraits the fact that drawing is essential for designing. The drawings form the base of her fashion collections and is an instrument to create a new perspective both visually and emotionally. Between her love and fascination for portraits and passion for designing fashion stands a collection which merges the two. The combination of the exotic prints make her collections a piece of art. Wrapping her silhouettes in different cultures allows a new global silhouette to be born and gives us new ideas how to incorporate new fabrics in various prints.
I was initially drawn to the colourful, patterned garments, however upon further inspection I really like the funky effect that this illustrator grasp, the long, pointed, cartoon like shoes court my attention, the idea that the illustration don’t have to be detailed to be affect really shines through here. I really enjoy working with college, the effects are impactful but quirky and unique which is an effect which I hope to capture through my final collection boards, therefore I would like to be able to incorporate an aspect of college as my final media as much as I can.

Arturo Elena.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arturo is a well-known Spanish artist who creates fashion illustrations for several luxury brands and magazines, including Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Audemars Piguet, he is a Spanish based award winning illustrator, artist and educator. This self-taught illustrator has had his work featured in numerous exhibitions, master-classes and workshops. His signature aesthetic of cinched waists, overly elongated limbs and highly glamorised women create very surrealist images.
His illustrations are reminiscent of the days when luxurious fashion illustrations adorned the covers of high-fashion magazines rather than the latest trending celebrity, but his illustrations do what earlier illustrations did not by adding an element of realism to them. They offer a scene and a story rather than just a figure standing absent minded wearing illustrious clothing.
He has the ability to capture what the camera cannot by being able to manipulate the situations of his illustrations and add in the emotions he feels are necessary to give each piece of work a life of its own. The women in his illustrations exude confidence in their luxurious garments and have an attitude about them that makes them seem well-versed in their lifestyle choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only does this illustrator work well alongside my other researched illustrator, it has really strong characteristics in which entices me to develop further. I am really drawn to any illustrator in which throws realism out the window and this illustrator is no different, not only do I really enjoy the over exaggerated waist and limbs, I really enjoy the effect of the dark, grey, dull tones used to create the skin tones, presented beautifully in the two images above, this, therefore, is another aspect in which I would like to capture in my illustration to experiment with something different which will help me to develop my own illustrative style.

In the first episode of "Please Feel At Ease Mr Ling" (一不小心捡到爱, 2021), we can see some mangas and fashion magazines inside Gu An Xin (Zhao Lu Si)'s house.
The mangas are volumes 8, 10 and 20 of Black Butler (黒執事) by Yana Toboso.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wasn't able to ID the magazines.
I'm quite certain this is a copy of Elle China (the logo checks out) but after looking through the covers from Oct 2016 to May 2021 (when the first episode aired) I wasn't able to find the right issue. Same with the other magazine, presumably a Grazia China issue, I've looked at all the covers posted on the official Instagram account between August 2020 and August 2019 but nothing. How old are these issues???
A clue in case anyone wants to dig into their Chinese magazine collection and find out: according to chinesedrama.info, "Filming began on May 23, 2020 and wrapped in August 2020" + the red writing on the Elle magazine says "the Spirit" in the Latin alphabet.

Etichetta: Autoproduzione Radio date: 16 giugno 2023 Release album: 30 marzo 2023

Reality TV and Social Media
Upon reading and analysing the article by Deller, titled “Chapter Six: Reality Television in an Age of Social Media” from the journal titled Reality Television: The TV Phenomenon That Changed the World, I gained insight into the ways in which social media has changed the nature of fame and self-presentation online, in regards to reality micro-celebrities.
It argues that social media has allowed for the rise of microcelebrities - which could include individuals that use social networking sites to build their own personal brand (Dellar 2019), and can be defined as internet celebrities on a small scale in a specific niche (Funn & Falkof 2021). Microcelebrities are seen as a type of digital performance that combines visual techniques of corporate branding with internet distribution technologies (Dellar 2019).
The article also distinguishes between microcelebrity and online or internet celebrity, which are those who have achieved a certain level of fame beyond their immediate niche. Like reality TV stars, these online celebrities are perceived to have remained in touch with their amateur roots, and they are expected to maintain a sense of authenticity in order to appear genuine to their audience (Dellar 2019), although many microcelebrities from Australian Reality TV appear to have a hard time saying no to brand deals, and only the successfully transparent few are able to filter through sponsorships that align with their core values, at least in my experience on platforms like Instagram.
Celebrities and micro-celebrities can use social media to bypass traditional media platforms and communicate directly with their fans, which in the case of reality TV stars have it well, as they are particularly a more accessible branch of celebrity, so fans may feel more likely to try to reach out to them in a more meaningful way, in the hopes that their favourite reality star might notice them. However, this also opens up a door to a more negative side, where “trolls” or haters can inflict negativity and even cast death threats to these microcelebrities, as they may feel that they are more likely to get a reaction from them, especially since they are more accessible than traditional celebrities (McLaren 2021).
The article also notes that some celebrities use social media primarily to promote their own brand or to drive audiences to other sites of stardom, such as magazine interviews or TV shows (Dellar 2019). Many have even tried to start their own networks, podcasts, small businesses and health brands as a result of their rise to reality TV fame, usually something related to the niche-ness of the character tropes that they exampled on their relevant TV shows and thus capitalising off of that.
So while social media can allow for self-expression, self-presentation, self-promotion and marketing, it in turn opens these stars up to a larger discourse regarding the authenticity of their character/brand, essentially “holding up a mirror to human behaviour and interaction”, which is a confronting thought for anyone that has stopped to think about it (Dellar 2019).

I see Louis loads, I mean, I speak to him say once a week, maybe twice a week. I live around the corner from Harry [Styles]. I've seen him recently, we were at a gig together.’ And Liam? ‘The same. We will never not be close, to be honest, Because I think everyone had this perception that when you break up it was because of a big fucking row or something. I’ve never seen a row in my life. We were on the road for six weeks at a time... I mean, we'd fight over who was using the hairdryer.
