kids these days are so spoiled. in my day we downloaded fansubs on some sketchy website and we liked it
#☢️.txt#this is MOSTLY a joke im glad that access to worldwide media has become so common! its genuinely a good thing#and a lot of the time the fansubs were better tbfh#hell even now localizations fuck stuff up or just remove smth bc its too hard to explain the context#fansubs usually would include that information either in a translation notes section or as an astrisk#granted sometimes it was shit like all according to keikaku!#but usually it was legitimate information on cultural differences or phrasing thats hard to convey in english#but anyways. i do lament the things lost when jpn media fandom in the west became official#we got a lot (actually decent localizations and generally decent dubs) but we lost a lot of community
