Card of the Day - Trash Magick From “Postcards from the Liminal Space” - Created by Barkara Wintner and Christian Berry, Illustrated by Kaylee Christenson. This deck always reminds me of “Morgan’s Tarot” by Morgan Robbins and Dardash Chorpash. Aesthetic cousins, both break away from tarot yet have, for me, an energetic heft that allows for powerful readings. I have included a picture that shows images from both decks, with cards from Morgan’s Tarot so you can see what I mean. You have your own magick, known as imagination, says the deck creators. Use it. I would add though that the glue gun also evokes the power of crafting, creation from nothing, and things that are sometimes considered, and the power of subversion against patriarchy and capitalism. Only in the last 25 years have museums been working to embrace “crafting” as being just as valid as “art,” with the line often being sexism, classism, racism, and ableism. It also reminds me that my grandmother always said “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure” - what can you make out of what you already have? ❤️ I spent the day yesterday at The Biltmore with my grandma and a third visit today to Skinny Beats Drums for a much needed group sound healing! I've experienced so many emotions this week, danced with more layers of vulnerability and have experienced deeper healing as I revisited my childhood and my mom's life. I no longer have her here physically but I treasure these sweet times with my grandma. She teaches me on so many levels the importance of flowing with this beautifully disastrous journey we call life while staying receptive to growing from each moment and emotion that shows up, no matter how glorious or wretched. Tomorrow I return home with a new sense of my own journey and my moms love and spirit. Although I'm emotionally exhausted and can't wait to spend time with my singing bowls and sleep in my bed, I'm already missing my grandma and these beautiful mountains my mom loved so much and that have held space for me many times to continually grow into my own heart ❤️ Until next time Asheville...
