#.ix #grafting a cactus isnt Automatically bad #first of all they’re plants. to our current knowledge they dont feel pain.#second of all grafting a small cactus onto a pitaya rootstock is standard practice in succulent greenhouses for generating seeds #bc normally those small cacti grow slowly; are hesitant to flower; and get overwatered easily #pitaya is a jungle cactus that is very good at delivering water n nutrients to whatevers grafted to it #however moon cacti are mutant clones without chlorophyll #very pretty. very prone to dying if separated from the parent plant.#so theyre grafted onto the pitaya and sold #however that means the pitaya has to provide EVERYTHING for its grafted mutant parasite #they don’t survive often.#shou tucker ass plant
