Forza Italia! It feels right to have an Italian in pink. Elisa Longo Borghini put up the best time in the opening ITT, edging out Grace Brown (FDJ-Suez) and ELB's own teammate, Brodie Chapman (Lidl-Trek).

Also bringing us a smile was ELB's teammate, Elisa Balsamo returned to racing after her high-speed crash in Vuelta a Burgos. We're glad to see her back, and she help makes a very strong Lidl-Trek squad for this Giro.

Some quick notes:

Nadim Naaman is the Phantom.

There are FIVE Christine’s listed: Georgia Wilkinson, Bridget Costello, Harriet Jones are listed as principal, Jessica Hackett and Grace Chapman are the understudies. I don’t know if/when Harriet will actually be joining.

Jessica is also covering Carlotta, which makes her one of the few actresses to cover both Christine and Carlotta at the same time.

Dougie Carter is Raoul; he was previously u/s Phantom in Greece.

Arvid Larsen, who has played Andre in a few productions now, continues as Andre and is also understudying the Phantom.

Aaron Price-Lewis is Buquet and understudies the Phantom.

As previously announced, Nikki Skinner is Meg.

Rebecca Ridout, who was in the London ensemble, will be a cover Carlotta.

Daniel Holley and Michael Franks understudy Raoul.

So it seem Harriet Jones will not be continuing with the Phantom Tour.

She has been cast in a production of Sweeney Todd which runs over the Basel scheduled run.

This means either Bridget Costello might be returning or there will be a new Christine joining.

Georgia Wilkinson, Grace Chapman & Jessica Hackett have not announced any new shows so it’s currently unclear if they will be continuing in Basel, Switzerland.
