oh man, I have a lot of good memories about gr4vitation. but before I gave it a chance I was not into yaoi stuff or pairing the male characters of shows together. how you are today when it comes to m/m ships is how I might've been if I completely ignored gravitation and my curiously about it. its interesting! (also this post is in the she1th tag incase you're wondering why Im replying ^^ I just had to say something since I have'nt heard about gr4vitation since 2006)

Oh boy, you talk as if I hated m/m pairings, thats not the case, and I really want to like she1th, I do, is a good and wholesome ship, but, i had the exact opposite experience with gr4vitation that you had.

Rant below, if you want to read it (this is not an attack towards you, I just me, venting)

Before that, I was a really big fan of m/m ships, and when I first heard of that anime, I got really excited and started watching with my hopes up.

I couldnt stand 4 episodes of it.

I barely remember the plot, but I remember being sick of the dinamic, I remember the blonde seme being a douche, pushing around the pink haired guy, being posessive towards him, acting without the other’s permission. I remember the pink haired guy being feminized and fetichized to hell and back.I remember a toxic and possessive relationship being romanticized and I having none of it

I also remember everyone uncritically praising that anime.

I never watched l0veless or  Jun0u R0mantic4 because I was afraid it would be the same.

I became hyper aware of power dynamics in m/m ships, and started to see said dynamic in m/m fanfiction everywhere. Abuse romanticized and used for cheap “angst” everywhere. I turned to m/f and f/f ships. I abandoned my old yaoi forums and ended up with an aversion of the clasic seme/uke dynamic.

Now, every ship that contains a older and buff character with a smaller and femenine one makes my brain go “NOPE“ even if I can see that objetively, said relationship is good and cute and healthy

Gr4vitation ruined and twisted my perception of m/m ships and I am forever bitter about it
